Chapter 2: Life in Equestria

In an unknown location stood a building that had the distinct appearance of a cathedral church and inside were a group of hooded individuals who stood around a circular table with the mark of a red 5-pointed star in the center as candles that light up the room. Soon walked in another figure who held a wooden staff and wore and amulet with the same red star on it as he stood before the others as they all faced him.

“Elder Red is it true? Has the promised one finally arrived?” Asked one of the hooded beings as the elders nodded as this had the others in disbelief.

“A descendant of our great hero has finally arrived my brothers and sisters. And soon the evil that has been plaguing our land will finally be stopped.” Said the elder as one of the hooded beings spoke. “Are you certain that this individual is a descendant of Lord Crimson Elder Red? For all we know he could be just some regular human.” This had every one’s attention as the Elder then continued.

“I understand your concern, but I assure to you that this human is the one we have been waiting for.” The elder then motions another member to come forward a female in a grey hood though what stood out was the broken horn on her forehead as she stood by the elder.

“My agents have confirmed that this human is related to our lord Crimson Star as the reports they sent me state that he has a striking resemblance to the lord himself and had arrived in the form of a red star that came down in the castle gardens.” As she said her piece the others spoke to one another amazed at the discovery as one of them then asked; “So what will we do now Elder Red?”

“As of right now the human is currently being rehabilitated in the castle and has yet to regain his strength like his predecessor. But when the time is right, we will reveal ourselves to him and finally the quest to freeing the land from darkness shall finally begin. Until then we will continue to monitor him from the shadows though I believe he will regain his power very soon if he is to stop the one that resides in the moon.”

They all then look upon the night sky through an open window and there they see the full moon as well as the imprint of a pony symbol that is slowly beginning to fade.

Location: Canterlot Castle

A few days have passed after the human now known as Dayman had awaken and is undergoing rehab though in the first week Dayman had struggled to get back on his feet, but by the second week he began to show incredible results. Thanks to the Royal seamstress Dayman was given a new set of clothes since the shirt and pants he had on when he first arrived were beyond repaired and were replaced with a grey V-neck shirt and dark blue training pants with the sun emblem embedded on the chest and left thigh and as an added bonus a pair of brown boots. Celestia to the surprise of every pony had been there to help him whenever she was not busy with royal duties and would also try to interact with him hoping to know more about him. Sadly, the human was unable to say much about himself as the effects of the comma had affected his mind as his memories were all messed up because of it and even if he tried to remember anything, he would succumb to a painful migraine thankfully Dr. Scrubs was able to prescribe the human some medicine if that ever happened.

Celestia did however, discussed more about her brother Crimson Star to Dayman about the many things he did for Equestria as well as mentioning the time she spent with him when they were children as it brighten the solar princess greatly. Though Dayman would notice that the princess would occasionally make glances at him for some odd reason though paid it no mind thinking that it was due to him looking exactly like her brother from many years ago. Little did he know that the princess was also remembering what had happened to her brother as she tried her best not to even mention it as well as not mentioning how he died.

Once Dr. Scrubs gave the okay on Dayman’s rehabilitation he was then sent to the training yard with the three captains as his trainers. Though he questioned why, they said that it was to help him get into shape after being cooped up in the castle for so long to which the human just shrugged and agreed to it to the relief of the captains. He did receive some looks from the guards that were training there though they were informed from the princess that the human called Dayman was staying at the castle, but they were not used to seeing a being without pony ears, a tail, wings, a horn, or hooves. But that all changed after seeing the kind of training that he was put through ranging from lifting weights, running in the track field with weights around his ankles, as well seeing him maneuvering through a makeshift obstacle course with ease to the surprise of the guards and shock to his trainers. It also grew even more once Dayman started training with Spitfire in martial arts only to copy her movements in perfect synched to her with every punch, kick, and step she made. And in the end his movements were faster as every punch and kick looked like a blur and every time, he hit something he would shatter it with ease. In a month, his skinny demeanor was now more muscular to the level of Bruce Lee as he stood tall all fired up as he was moving around the yard doing warmups as he shows off the results.

Soon it was time to train with Blade Dancer as they were both were using wooden swords as they started to clash strikes with each other, though in the beginning Dayman struggled to block her attacks, but as he held the wooden sword in a samurai stance, he began to fight back to the shock of Blade Dancer as each strike caught her off guard. It was the that he swung in a downward angle as Dancer was almost unable to block it as the force of it broke her wooden sword in half as to the shock of the thestral pony as Dayman quickly stood back with worry.

“Oh crap, sorry I didn’t mean to break it half. Are you okay?” Asked Dayman who was concerned for Dancer who stood there shocked as she, Shining, and Spitfire stared at him, for a moment he thought that he made a bad move only to be grabbed by both hands by Dancer who was now in front of him with stars in her eyes.

“That was incredible sword work you must have been a master of the blade in your past for you to fight like that. Skills like that would be perfect for the Equestria Rouges.” She says in glee as Shining knocks her to the side.

“Buck that he would be perfect with the royal guard the fact that he can handle himself in heavy armor and would be a perfect addition to the ranks.” Said Shining and like Dancer had stars in his eyes.

“As if the guards can handle the things, he’s capable off his skills will probably be waisted with guards.” She retorted as this got Shining mad.

“What was that?!!” he said angrily as Dancer retorted. “You heard what I said!!”

Soon the two were butting heads as Spitfire sighed at this and walked over to Dayman.

“You certainly have skills kid it’s almost as if you did this kind of stuff before.” She said as Dayman rubbed the back of his head at the praise.

“It’s weird for some reason it’s almost as if this is all familiar, but I am not really sure.” Said Dayman as this caught other two’s attention. At that moment he soon realizes something as his eyes go wide.

“Wait what time is it?” he asked as Shining pulls out a pocket watch. “It’s 1pm why do you ask?” Asked Shining as Dayman was now worried.

“I need to go now I have a meeting with T- I mean Princess Celestia at this time and I don’t want to be late.” He said in a worried tone as Blade Dancer sighed at this.

“I guess we can end our session for the day.” She says as Dayman bows in gratitude.

“Thank you miss Dancer I will see in our next session see you all later.” Says the human as he rushes off and leaps into the air as he grabs onto the ledge of an open window as he enters inside and is seen rushing down the hall. Leaving the 3 captains bewildered but amused at his antics.

“I sometimes wonder if that guy was a ninja in the past.” Said Spitfire as the other captains chuckled at her comment.

We now see Dayman running down the hall as he makes his way toward Celestia’s chambers hoping to any deity that he was not going to be late. Running past various guards and maids who at this point were used to seeing the human running down the hall and just as he makes a sharp turn, and he was unable to see the individual in front of him as he was too late to stop and ended up colliding with said being before they both hit the floor.

“Twilight are you okay?” said an adolescence male voice as Dayman raised his head and shook it as his vision was fuzzy as it slowly started to become clear as he took notice of the individuals before him. The first was a unicorn mare with a purple mane and tail with pink strand in between, she had a purple coat, dark purple flannel shirt with white sleeves grey skirt and black stockings around her legs. And next her was a small purple and green dragon who looked worried at for the mare as she rubs the pain away on her head as rolls of quills were scattered around them.

“Oh, sorry about that I was in a hurry and didn’t see you when made that sharp turn.” He said getting up as the mare grumbled as him.

“Next time don’t go running around the halls then. Oh, Celestia I drop my notes Spike please help me gather them up.” Pleaded the unicorn as the small dragon helped her gather up the scrolls as Dayman joined in as he grabs a couple of them before lending a hand toward Twilight who upon seeing this finally gets a good look on his face before going wide-eyed.

“Need a hand?” Said Dayman as the mare was unable to say anything as she could only nod at his question as he smiled at her before helping her up onto her hooves. Twilight was still in shock at the being before him as he lifts the last of her quills from the ground before handing them to her.

“Umm thank you…” said the unicorn mare in a shy tone as the human smiles at her kindly.

“It’s no issue miss. However, I am sorry that I must cut this short, but I have a meeting with Princess Celestia so I must be on my way.” He says as he was about to leave.

“Wait!” Said the mare as Dayman stops and turns to her. “I am actually on my way to the princess as well, so would you mind if me and Spike tag along?” She asks as this made Dayman feel a certain before nodding at her.

“I don’t see any problems with that. Oh, where are my manners my name is Dayman what’s yours?” Said the human as Twilight cleared her throat.

“My name is Twilight Sparkle and this little guy here is my adoptive brother Spike.” She says as she motions to the little dragon by her legs.

“Nice to meet ya” said the dragon as Dayman smiled at the little guy as they all moved down the hall.

“So Dayman. What exactly are you I mean I have never seen any being like you before?” Asked Twilight as Dayman responded. “Well, I am a human in fact the very first human to ever arrive in Equestria at least from what Princess Celestia has told me.”

His response caught the mare and dragon’s attention.

“Wait you know the Princess?” Asked Spike as Dayman nodded.

“She is actually the one who I interacted with the most when I first arrived here.” Said they human as Twilight raised an eye at him.

“That’s weird I have been I the castle for some time now and I never seen or even heard of you before.” She commented as Spike knew exactly why.

“Maybe if you were not so focused on your studies all the time you would probably notice.” He snarked as Twilight gave him an annoyed look though this caught Dayman’s attention.

“Are you a scholar here miss Sparkle?” He asked as Twilight was about to respond but was cut off as Spike snorted at his question.

“Well, when you’re the personal student to the princess she is one mega scholar.” He said as Twilight was looking more annoyed as Spike looked back at her with a look that said *What? *. However, this surprised him as he recalled something that the princess had mentioned to him.

“Oh, so you must be the mare the princess was talking about. I do recall her commenting on her student and how she possessed unique skills in magic. For you to impress the princess that much you must be an immensely powerful magic user miss Sparkle.” Said Dayman with a kind smile as Twilight looks away and starts to feel strangely warm for some odd reason.

“I-I wouldn’t c-call myself powerful I am still leaning after all.” She said nervously as she started to smile a bit though Spike tilts his head at the expression Twilight was giving off while Dayman smiles at the flustered mare.

It was at that point that they arrive to the door of Celestia’s chambers as Dayman knocks on the door as the sound of hooves gets louder as the door opens as Dayman was now in the embrace of the princess who was now hugging him tightly to his confusion and to the shock of Twilight and Spike.

“Oh, your finally here I got worried for a moment when you didn’t arrive in time like usual.” Celestia says as Dayman struggles to breath due to how tightly she was hugging him.

“Forgive me Princess Celestia…but I ran into some pony who was heading here…” said Dayman with a weak tone as Celestia takes notice of this and lightly lets him go as she now notices the other two near the door.

“Oh, hello my dear student I am sorry that I didn’t notice you and Spike there I was just happy to see Dayman finally arrive is all.” She says nervously knowing that she may have embarrassed herself in front of the two as Twilight shook her head.

“It’s no problem, Princess Celestia though may I ask why you wanted to speak to me and Spike?” She asked as Dayman stood up straight.

“Now that you mention that I also wanted to know why you asked me to come here as well since you never gave me answer as to why” Questioned Dayman as Celestia nodded to them.

“Of course, though I believe we should discuss this in my chambers for this will be a private discussion between the four of us.” She responded as the three nodded and entered the room as Celestia closes the door as her horn glows covering the door in a gold aura.

“There I raised up soundproof barrier so that no one will eavesdrop on us. Anyway, may you three take a seat so that we can begin our discussion.” She says as Twilight and Spike grab a seat while Dayman sat on the edge of Celestia’s bed.

“Now then to answer your question Twilight I actually wanted to introduce you to our human friend, but it seems that you both have already meet.” She comments as Dayman scratches the back of his head sheepishly.

“Yeah, I bumped into her by accident when I was rushing over here. And again, I do apologize for that.” He says though the last part was directed to Twilight who looked away for a bit. “And I as I said before it’s fine just don’t do it again.” She reminds him as her cheeks grew red as the princess giggles at this.

“Is that all, princess?” Asked Spike as Celestia stopped giggling and looked at the dragon as both the human and mare were now facing her.

“No Spike, there’s actually more that I wished to discuss with you and Twilight. Are you both familiar with the legend of Crimson Star?” She asked the two though Spike had no idea who that was, but Twilight did.

“Yes, I have your highness, the legendary hero who once served under you and aided in the creation of the kingdom. I learned about him from the scrolls you gave me.” She answered as Celestia nodded as she sits next to Dayman.

“That is correct my faithful student, but did they say who Crimson was in the scrolls?” she asked her student who took a minute to remember what she learned about him.

“No, the records never mentioned anything about Crimsons race just that he was some pony who served under you as well as the many things he has done for the kingdom. Why do you ask?” Said Twilight as Celestia placed her hands on her knees as she faced Dayman for a moment before looking back at Twilight.

“You see Twilight, Crimson Star was a being called a human that appeared many years ago when my parents the previous rulers of Equestria were still in power. They found an infant child who they later adopted into the royal family becoming my brother and over the years would aid in the creation of the kingdom that we live in now up till the day of his passing.” She stops there and smiled at the look that Twilight had at the new information as her horn glowed as she summoned a quill and paper as she started to write it down making Celestia giggle, Dayman tilts his head in confusion, as Spike rolls his eyes.

“So, this Crimson Star was your brother, but why was that never mentioned before? From all the books Twilight has read none of them mention anything about him being part of your family or that he was a human.” Said Spike as Twilight nodded at this as they all look to Celestia who sighed at this.

“You see my parents decided to keep his race a secret as they were afraid that he would not be accepted into pony society not to mention the nobles would have caused an uproar if they learned of him being in our family. So, they decided to keep him in the castle for the time being as he grew up a strong fighter and would later serve under me once I took over the throne. Dawning a mask that would alter his appearance and allowing him to serve under the crown, though a few knew of his true form, but had also sworn to keep it a secret as time went on. And upon his death he would be remembered throughout the land as a hero to the ponies, but up until now it seems that he has returned in the form of a red star.” She said as this caught everyone’s attention for, they had heard about the incident that nearly shook that land when something had crashed into the royal gardens as Dayman knew about this while Twilight and Spike were still in the dark about this as they were given a false story about the incident.

“You see Twilight, the falling star that hit the garden turned out to be a human and that human happens to be a descendant of Crimson Star and is currently sitting next to me right now.” She says as Spike and Twilight went wide-eyed as they slowly look towards Dayman who was looking at Celestia with a surprised look on his face as she giggled at his expression.

“So…that means….” Said Dayman as Celestia nodded at him.

“That’s right my little human you are a descendant of Crimson Star.” Said Celestia as Twilight and Dayman stood up.

“HE IS?!!!!!!!” Yelled Twilight out as parts of her hair started to stick out as her left eye started to twitch.

“I AM?!!!!!!” Said Dayman who was also surprised at the news as Twilight then looked at him.

“WAIT HOW CAN YOU NOT KNOW ABOUT THIS?!!!” She yelled out startling Dayman as he turns to her.

“Miss Sparkle please understand that this is all new to me. I had just woken up from a comma a few weeks ago not to mention that I can’t remember anything, but my name.” Said Dayman as this caused Twilight to groan as Spike came to her side.

“Easy Twilight. I understand that this is some heavy information, but you shouldn’t let this effect you this much.” Said Spike as Twilight looked him. “Spike this human happens to be the descendant to one of the most important figures in Equestria’s history alongside Star Swirl the bearded the fact that I never heard of him until now is just nerve wrecking to me.” She said still in a tangent as Dayman places his hands on her shoulder and looks at her in the eye to her surprise.

“I understand that this a lot to take in, but you need to calm down and take a deep breath.” He then shows what he meant by inhaling some air through his nose then slowly exhaling through his mouth. He then proceeds to motion her to do the same thing as she inhales then exhales.

“Okay now try again.” He says as Twilight does it again as she begins to calm down and her hair was back to her usual shine as she felt surprisingly better.

“Feel better now?” Asked Dayman as he removed his hands off her shoulders as she shyly looks down and nods. “Yes, I feel better now thank you.” She responds as Dayman smiles at her before looking back at Celestia who was giggling at the scene.

“Forgive me, but what you did just now was something that Crimson also did when I was overwhelmed with royal duties. It’s great that you inherited his caring demeanor along with the many other unique skills from what your trainers have mentioned in the reports they gave me.” She responded as this made Dayman scratch the back of his head feeling a bit bashful at the praise.

“But if I may ask Princess Celestia, how are you certain that I am a descendant of your brother Crimson Star.” Said Celestia as she stood up from the bed and walks over to her closet and opens it.

“I asked myself that same question when you first appeared other than having the same face as my brother, I also sensed a familiar power within you something that Crimson possessed many years ago and believed was lost when he died until now.” She said with her back turned as she grabbed some items from her closet.

“Do these look familiar to you?” she asked as she turned around and presented him with some items that were covered in a golden aura and were gently floating towards them and handed off to Dayman as he began to examine them. The first item was a black and red leather jacket with padding around the shoulders and elbows with short sleeves and around the collar was a silver cross that dangled on a small ring as well as a design of a red serpent dragon with a black and white mask as he was in the form of a strange circular symbol on the back. The next item was a pair of grey metal glove with armored padding in on the back of the hand, studs around the knuckles, and pointed ends on the tip of the fingers, along with black cuffs around the wrist. The next item was a pair of black boots with armored padding around the front and bottom with straps along the lower shin to the ankle with a red gem embedded on one side of each boot.

For some reason, these items felt familiar to him as this also caught the interest of both Twilight and Spike as they began to examine it as well.

“You arrived with these items which happen to belong to my brother many years ago but were thought to be lost along with more of his possession, except for the jacket of course. The gloves and boots are what my brother used to channel his magic as a conduit just like how unicorns and alicorns use our horns to channel magic.” Said the princess as Spike stared in awe in the gear while Twilight was even more curious than before.

“Please try them on.” Said Celestia as Dayman proceeded to place the gloves first as they fit perfectly around his hand. Then comes the boots as he slips his foot in completely and tightens the straps down to the ankle as he finally puts on the jacket as it hugs his upper body perfectly as he zips it clothes.

“Fits like a glove as some ponies would say.” said Celestia as Dayman began to admire his new items.

“Yeah, it does plus the dragon on your back looks really cool could that be your cutie mark?” Said Spike as Dayman raises an eyebrow.

“What’s a cutie mark?” He asked causing the baby Dragon and Mare go wide-eyed and their jaws dropping at his words. It was then that Celestia stepped in to prevent another scene.

“Which brings me to why I brought you all here. Not only did I wish to introduce you all to each other, but to also learn about Dayman’s connection to Crimson Star he will also be studying alongside Twilight during our lessons to better understand magic and how things work around here in Equestria. And do not worry Dayman you will continue training with the captains seeing is that your far more ahead than I was expecting.” She said as Twilight was surprised at this while Spike was smiling with glee at the chance of having another male during their study sessions. Though Dayman was feeling a bit unsure as he never thought about using magic let alone knowing how to make it work.

“Do you believe it’s possible for me to use magic your highness?” Asked the human as Celestia nodded.

“Crimson had a hard time learning as well, but he was able to find a way thanks to his gear and was able to grow strong in both magic and in body. Plus, I doubt that my beloved student will not mind having a study partner after our lessons, now would she?” Said Celestia as Twilight became a little nervous after being put on the spot by her mentor as she calmed herself down and nodded at the princess.

“No, it wouldn’t be a problem.” She said as Celestia smiled happily. “Great, however I also wish to remind you and Spike that everything that I mentioned here will be kept secret. I have asked every pony in the castle to keep Dayman’s presence a secret for I wish to properly introduce him to the rest of the kingdom when the time is right is that understood?” she said as both Twilight and Spike nodded as princess smiles gratefully.

“Thank you well now that that’s settled you can go now. Except for you Dayman there is still something that I wish to discuss with you that relates to your training with the captains.” Said Celestia as Twilight and Spike bow their heads as they made their way out the door not before receiving a wave goodbye from Dayman as they wave back before exiting out the door. Twilight was still curious about the human after learning about his relation to Crimson star as well as the unique power that Celestia mentioned as for Spike he was happy with the idea of having a guy to hang out with hopefully one that was interested into comic books instead of the ones Twilight usually reads.

Celestia and Dayman were now alone in the room as he turns to her only to see her looking out into the sky with a look that Dayman had never seen before.

“Tia is there something wrong?” Asked the human using the nickname she asked Dayman to call her by whenever they were alone together as she turns back to him with a sigh and forms a serious look on her eyes.

“To answer your question dear, I wish to discuss something with you and no its not related to your training as for it is something serious that I had to speak with you in private.” She stops for a moment knowing what was coming next, she took a deep breath before looking back at Dayman. “Have you ever heard of the tale of the mare in the moon?”

Author's Note

this Chapter took a lot out of me and if its seems rushed its because it wanted to start the story though the first season and didn't now how build it up along the way, but at least i finally got to introduce Twilight and Spike in the story.
