Chapter 1 The Observatory

Ruby landed a part time job at the Royal Canterlot Observatory, despite the other applications that where better suited for job, the only reason why Ruby got the part time job was because she fixed the telescope last year. That actually being the job interview than the normal sit and try to sell yourself to the pony.

Ruby smiles as she landed in front of the massive building and gives a quick nod to the guards that where guarding the building itself. A gray unicorn and a silver pegasus, the silver pegasus stops ruby from entering the building. Ruby looks at the pegasus bewildered on why she was being stop.

“Uh… excuse me I do work here” Ruby says to the pegasus

“You need your identification card ma`am” the pegasus says as the unicorn horn ignites glowing softly as he waits patiently.

Ruby pouts a little before regaining her composer as she slowly starts rubbing against the pegasus wing hoping this could get a reaction, any reaction out of him

“Come on guy, can you let me in without checking for my I.D card?” Ruby asks using her own body to try to seduce the pegasus.

“Ma`am you can stop with your advances and you will not enter into this building without a I.D card, on orders of Princess Luna.” The pegasus says to a rather annoyed Ruby.

Ruby growls at the stallion and looks at the name tag that he is wearing and it reads “Silver Streak”

“You’re a fucking ass Silver” Ruby retorts as she starts looking into her bag knowing full well aware that she doesn’t even have a I.D card. As she opens the first pouch of her ‘borrowed’ saddle bag she had to keep her wings and heart pulse in check as she stares at the assortment of sex toys in the bag as well as the crumpled-up note that Luna had written for her today.

“Ropes! A ball gag! Black and white leggings! A fucking riding crop! This isn’t my bag! This is Lunas! Shit! I cant let those assholes search this bag at all or they will be questioning me and I could get fired before I even start my job!’

“Ma`am if you don’t have your I.D. then can we have your name?” the unicorn asks his horn not glowing anymore as he stares at Ruby

“Gah!” Ruby jumped up and looked at both guards with a deep red blush as she concentrates all of her willpower not to make her wings pop out.

“Im Ruby Star and I started working here last year, the only reason why I got this job is because I fixed the telescope out of boredom waiting for my interview. I didnt know that was the actual interview. As soon as I was done fixing the telescope the interviewees started sending every pony home. As I started to leave, they stopped me and told me to stay and asked me so many questions about what was wrong with the telescope and how did I fixed it. I told them it just looked ‘wrong’ and out of place. I also told them that I rather be looking at stars through that telescope than my portable one that I have at home” Ruby explains to the guards on how she got her job here at the Observatory’s as the doors swings opens and revealing a mare with a bright orange coat and yellow mane walks right up to Ruby

“Sorry Ruby but I forgot to give you your I.D last week.” the orange mare says smiling brightly and practically drags Ruby into the observatory. Ruby quickly grabs her bag not wanting the guards to go through it. Once fully inside the massive room and the doors close with a deafening thud, Ruby untangles herself from the mare.

“Thank you, Nova, for helping me out back there” Ruby replies as she looks at Nova who is already writing down some notes in a piece of paper

“It was my fault not giving your I.D. last week as your friend and your boss, also I was starting to wonder on why you weren’t walking in since it’s not like you to be late unless you actually have a valid reason like last year you got pranked on by some pony and got Poison Joke which made your wings so tiny!” Nova giggles and smiles which causes Ruby to smile as well and a small giggle

“Yeah, still don’t know who did it to me though. Now what are we doing today?” Ruby asks as she sets her bag away next to her work station which is clustered with tools, lenses and notes.

“Well we are finally going to open the telescope doors” Nova says with a smile

“Really!? Where finally open the doors!” Ruby shouted, she felt like a little filly again when she got her first telescope

“Yes, my excited assistant but where only opening the doors this evening” Nova says to Ruby hoping to calm her down a little.

“Why only the doors and why so early?” Ruby asks as she gets over her wave of euphoria and looks at her boss with a concerned look as she also hopes that Luna won`t be mad at her for taking the wrong bag.

“One it will take us almost all day for just the both of us to open them both up and two to air out the observatory.” Nova says walking over to one of the massive doors with a metal handle on the bottom and another handle on the very top.

“Where do you need me to be?” Ruby asks looking at the massive doors

“I need you to be pulling the handle at the top since you can fly and I will be pulling the other handle down here using my magic, once where done with this door I will tell you why you got hired here but for a different reason than fixing the telescope.” Nova replies her horn igniting with a blazing orange and yellow magic.

Ruby quickly flies up to the top of the door and starts pulling on the heavy handle at the top with Nova doing the same at the bottom. The massive heavy door slowly groans as it begins to move on the metal tracks letting in the afternoon strays of sunlight.

“Ruby! Where done with the right side! Come down and take a rest” Nova calls out to Ruby very much to her delight as she glides down to the floor her wings aching even more now and her body aching as she collapses on the floor exhausted. Nova chuckles at the sight

“Nova why can`t we just leave the doors open?” Ruby asks rolling onto her back spreading her wings out onto the cold tile floor sighing gratefully

“That’s will never happen Ruby. because we will both get fired by both Princess’s” Nova says gingerly touching her burning red horn with a hoof.

“Both Princess`s? Princess Celestia I can understand because she put some of Equestria taxes into building the Observatory. But what does Luna have to do with it?”

“If youre wondering why Princess Luna is because she was the one to suggest the Observatory to Princess Celestia.” Nova replies as if hearing Rubys thought walking over to the other handle. Ruby sits up and flies to the top of the other door and starts pulling it revealing a beautiful pink sky turning into a starry night.

“Oh…” Nova says sadly as she the sky looking

“Something wrong?” Ruby asks as she glides down almost crashing into Nova

“Well I wanted us to both see the sky changing from the observatory.” Nova says to Ruby.

“Well we can always do it tomorrow since where both staying the night here” Ruby says sitting up and puts a wing over Nova trying to cheer her up

“Yeah,” Nova smiles at Ruby “Let’s go see our room.”
