Chapter 2

Memory or Nightmare

As both mares enter into the room it was more a like another office for them. On the farthest wall straight in front of them was an elegant glass stained window of both princess circling around the sun and moon together over the land of Equestria as the rest of the windows were clear to let in natural sun and moonlight in. On the left wall was a library of scroll, books and astrological documents that Luna has donated to the observatory.

“Wow I didn’t know princess Luna was this serious in Astrology” ruby remarks reading a plaque of the donated library

“Of course, she is, in a way we are technically studying about her as well.” Nova replies as she walks over to the beds. “And she will be helping us read the night sky as well since most of those scrolls are outdated by almost a thousand years.”

This made Ruby heart jumped a bit as she starts to think about her and Luna just gazing up at the night sky and say the name of constellations together

“Do you know when will be able to start bringing this library up to date? And how soon can we start?” ruby asks nervously it’s not that she didn’t mind Nova but she hasn’t told her about Luna and her and their sessions during the day.

“Probably next week if not sooner, why?” Nova asks now curios on why her assistant asked as she takes a look at Ruby still holding onto the bag and then she slyly smiles at Ruby.

“No reason” Ruby replies as she sets the bag down at the foot of a bed.

“Ruby, I won’t ask you right now, but I do have a suspicion about you” Nova says as she makes her way to the bathroom

“Huh, what do you mean by that!?” Ruby replies her voice going an octave higher than normal as she follows Nova into the bathroom and takes a look around. The bathroom was exactly likes Lunas bathroom but without the pool and the array of shower heads in the corner of the bathroom.

Nova sets her toiletries at the sink and looks at Ruby “Did you bring anything at all for tonight since were staying here?”

“We are!?!” Ruby shouts

“Yeah, did I forget to tell you that last week as well?” Nova asks as she thinks about it

“You didn’t mention anything about it since we were both busy trying to get the lens adjusted on the telescope and to keep it undamaged why there was construction going on in the observatory.” Ruby quickly stated “I have no toiletries and all my stuff, except for my tools, are at my apartment in downtown Canterlot!”

“Well then what’s in your bag then?” Nova requires as she brushes by ruby to get to her accidently stolen bag. Ruby quickly flies in front of Nova and stops from reaching for her bag

“my personal stuff. Please don’t open it” Ruby pleads to Nova

“All right but I better not here any moaning when I am trying to sleep. I know that mares have needs as well.” Nova says her suspicion about ruby almost completely true now as she gets into the other bed. “For a mare like yourself you do a horrible job at keeping a poker face and you can use my toiletries as of now. Now let’s get some rest before we have to get up soon.”

Ruby nods and gets into the other bed and is surprised that the mattress feels like a cloud and her pillow almost always cold.

“Mmm this is nice I wonder if Luna suggested this or if these are standard beds for all ponies that serve the Princesses.” As her body starts to relaxes and rests as ruby drifts off to sleep.

Ruby smiles as her wings catches a warm updraft of air as she flies over the Everfree forest in the night sky. Her heart racing as she sees Luna flying next to her, no not flying falling.

“LUNA!” Ruby screamed as she dives after the princess. Her wings flapping to gain more speed but Luna keeps falling faster than Ruby could fly as the ground came barreling up towards them. Ruby shuts her eyes as one of her hooves touches Luna coat only too late as Ruby slowly opens up her eyes and looks around only to see complete darkness. No light anywhere.

“L-Luna?” Ruby says out loud her voice echoing throughout the darkness

“Do not say that name!” a voice screams throughout the darkness “She imprisoned me in her wretched body! Did ponies forget about Nightmare Moon!?”

Ruby starts to sweat nervously as she looks around for any where to run and hide away from the threatening voice of Nightmare Moon.

“N-no we still have to learn about you in school so that we won’t make the same mistakes as we did in the pass. We learned that you and Luna” ruby starts to explain but is cut off by Nightmare Moon now curios tone of voice

“Luna? Not Princess Luna?”

Ruby eyes widen up as she realized her mistake but she didn’t want to anger Nightmare Moon any more than she already had

“Y-yes, Luna”

A long and eerie silence fell between the two ponies before nightmare Moon spoke up again

“You’re her second lover” Nightmare Moon says putting the pieces of the puzzle together and appears before Ruby her snake like pupils looks over ruby

“This is my first time seeing one of Lunas lovers…I do get lonely in Lunas body so…thank you for coming” Nightmare moon says as tears start to form in her eyes

Ruby looks at Nightmare Moon unsure on what to do. Here a pony standing before here that hasn’t been loved in over a thousand years. Ruby then cautiously walks up to Nightmare moon and hugs her. This brought a torrent of tears flowing down out of Nightmare Moon eyes as she wails out loud in joy as the hollow empty feeling that has been inside her finally gets replaced with warmth and love from a pony that her jailor. Nightmare moon continues to cry into Ruby back as a thought crosses her mind as she slows her breathing to calm down and looks at Ruby.

“Did my hug help?” Ruby asks nervously

“It did Ruby and thank you” Nightmare Moon gently removes Ruby from her body and walks away into the darkness to wonder aimlessly as Ruby watches nervously as the darkness that surrounds her turns into a bright light and blinds her as Ruby finds herself sitting on a dark gray cloud overlooking Equestria.

“Ruby?”

Ruby gasps and Jumps as she looks at the pony sitting next to her a young Luna and a pony that looks like a nightmare moon but without the snakelike eyes

“Who`s Ruby” the pony asks Luna confused

“Just a name and a gem Elora” Luna replies and nuzzles the pony

“Luna one day you`ll be in control of the moon and dreams and I will always be there for you” Elora says to Luna

“I know Elora… I know…” Luna says sadly as the dream fades away and is replace by Luna and Elora yelling at each other

“You have to stop this Elora! You’re going to corrupt yourself with nightmarish magic!” Luna yells at Elora who is standing in front of a dark shadow erupting from the ground

“Nightmarish you say… I like that… witness the birth of a new and powerful pony little Luna… a stronger and powerful pony than you and your worthless sister!” Elora yells as she jumps into the shadow her body elongating and becoming slimmer and taller and as she opens her eyes and stares at Luna with piercing emerald snake like pupils as the shadow goes inside Elora

Luna steps back as Elora steps onto the ground the grass blades turning black

“Elora?” Luna asks cautiously

“Elora is no more Luna she is gone forever! Only to be replace by me! Nightmare Moon!” Nightmare moon yells and flies after a fleeing Luna

“Where do you think your going?!You and I are going to be together forever!” as Nightmare moon crashes into Luna and both of them plummets to the ground causing a crater to form from the crash as Luna whimpers and cries

“Elora! Stop! Please don’t make me regret what I`m about to do” the young princess of the night cries out as her horn ignites

“You can try but you will fail little Luna and I will take over your body and rule all of Equestria!” Nightmare moon shouts

Luna horn erupts with white magic and starts binding Nightmare Moon as she cries

“It’s the only way to protect you Elora and Equestria” As Luna eyes open up and glowing brightly as Nightmare Moon slowly shrinks as the white magic bindings pulls her towards Luna

Luna`s body glows brightly as she struggles to keep Nightmare Moon in her body. Two minds fighting over the same body. Luna suddenly collapses as she breathes heavily into the earth her mind overpowers Nightmares Moon as she lets out a huge wail of sadness into the night sky as she sobs loudly. Tears flowing out of her eyes like a river, her first friend and perhaps lover gone to her forever she seems.

Ruby wakes up shaking as she looks at rising moon and she relaxes a little “Luna… what happened?”

As Ruby gets out of her bed and stretches, she looks over at Nova who is still snoring softly with a soft smile on her face which made Ruby curious on what she was dreaming about.

“You want to know?” Luna asks as she comes up to Ruby quietly. Luna heart starts to flutter as she stares at the princess unsure how to answer

“Yes and no I know you can see her dreams but you’re a princess its your duty to watch over ponies dreams but it would be rude of me to see Nova`s dream” Ruby answers quickly and Luna silently kisses her on the lips which made Ruby wings flare up but her heart melted into the kisses as she slowly calms down

“Better?” Luna asks as Ruby nods softly

“What are you doing here?” As Ruby wings slowly relaxes against her body as she stares at Luna curiously.

“Doing my royal duty as a princess to help update the star maps” Luna replies smiling back at Ruby.

Sorry its been four month in uploading a chapter I have been busy getting ready for a University in my city as well as having working my butt off in retail. I know theses are just excuses but please be patient with me and my stories; also a new story i have been writing on might appear here ;)
