Dr. Luna and Mrs. Nightmare Moon
Prologue
Load Full StoryNext ChapterIn Equestria, in the city of Canterlot, there was a scientist widely recognized and respected by all. Many admired and wanted to be like her. But on a fateful night, Luna’s father; Sobra, fell into a coma, and this coma, he wouldn’t wake up because he was bound to die. Luna was in the hospital with her best friend Twilight Sparkle. Luna was trying everything to get Sombra to wake up. Near the bed was a bench.
“Luna, he’s not answering you,” said Twilight. “There’s no reason to keep doing that. But he is still a pony. This is dangerous. It’s catatonic at first, but then it attacks all of us and others for no reason. ”
“But Twilight, he still has emotional relationships,” said Luna. “As much as we do. He is a prisoner of it.”
Luna began to circle around. “How are we going to keep moving forward if we can’t help a pony who suffered just like him?”
“Death will help him, Luna.” Twilight smiled hopefully.
Luna let out a small breath. “There has to be a better solution.”
Twilight Sparkle’s smile fell. “No, Luna. There is no other solution. I’m sorry, but there’s no way you can see and talk to him again.”
“I need to try.”
“You’ve tried everything, Luna!”
Luna approached the bed while looking at her father. “Isn’t true. Drugs can help analyze. I’m sure if they combined... ”
“Luna.” Luna looked at Twilight Sparkle. “These experiences of yours ... You’re an admired mare.”
Twilight Sparkle came out and near the bed, and was near the door. “Please take care of your career. I want you to be an example to everypony and to be a source of pride.”
Luna approached her best friend. “He can be saved, Twilight. I’m sure. We can all be saved.”
Twilight Sparkle decided to leave the room. Luna watched Twilight go before she started singing.
“In the darkness of the night… Everything is quiet. Before it was day. The night had come… ”
Luna approached the bed. “If I could only… if life let me… I would guide your steps into the bright sunlight… the silence, I have to listen. I will not give up understanding. I want an answer. So I promise you, with you I will. Until when I die… ”
Luna looked at Sombra one last time before leaving. “Good night, dad.”
Two nurse mares pulled the bed out of the room. Luna sat on the bench near the bed.
“I need to see who these demons inhabit every pony, animal and creature,” sang Luna. “Know why a pony delivers to evil? Why do you always surrender to crime for no reason? why can’t you have more than you have? Why never surpass yourself? ”
Luna took off her lab coat. “I need to get into the seeds of evil and turn on the light. Seeing the light. Watch the light. Things lose their meaning. What is my intention when the senses are lost? And the pony that is no more. Knowing why the pony surrenders to evil like that. I’ll know which one.”
Luna started to walk. “Oh, Faust. I ask you to teach away from evil. Your light I always promise to follow! I need to see! Details that all come from. I will win it. I will know….”
In the streets of Canterlot, there were two types of pony classes: the rich and the poor. Although they were different, they hated each other. These two classes hated each other because the rich thought themselves superior and the poor were irritated with it.
“Each one tastes good. When the day comes and the embezzlement returns, it is all a mask.”
“Each one knows how to hide what it is. When night comes. Everything is mask only. So many ways to go back… and not surrender… not surrender… to those who aren’t normal. This festival, this carnival.”
“Lying to play,” the pony looked at his friend beside him. “One thing I know nobody knows. For a general plague that healing doesn’t have is hell.”
A mare in white dress with white fur and blue mane appeared and stood between the two stallions. “To live backwards, this mask is just…”
Two mares approached. One was yellow and mane orange and the other pink with light green mane. “The sunset no one can see, the bottom to the surface.”
“This mask you wear is just a disguise I had created,” Very important ponies from Canterlot were walking. There was a mare holding on to his stallion. “Every one you see passes you. Everypony does this despite being likely. We’re professionals.”
A mare standing on a balcony in a red dress shouted, “You can kill, you miserable killer.”
“So… it’s all just a mask.”
A stallion hat and gentleman’s clothing approached the other ponies. “You say you’re a millionaire and happy. But you never have faith and lift your muzzle.”
“A mask just…”
Sunset Shimmer was walking along with Flash Sentry as they sang. “Anyway, they will persuade you to everything you care about. And don’t get up… ”
“... And don’t lift it.” Sunset Shimmer and Flash Sentry started dancing in circles.
“Sparkles are. No one does what they want. No one wants what they do. All beautiful. We’re all like that. What a mask only.”
A spotlight illuminated a brown pony with black mane. “Look, see ...”
There would be a meeting in the governors’ room. Luna would try to convince the governors to let her use the potion on somepony. In the room was the seven most important ponies. But Luna hadn’t arrived yet.
“The session of the Canterlot hospital board is open. Starlight Glimmer, Princess of Canterlot,” said Candence.
Starlight Glimmer wore no clothes, but walked over to the table anyway.
“Fancy Pants, Queen’s advisor,” said Cadence.
Fancy Pants used a term and a monocle. He went to the table.
“Mayor Mare,” said Cadence.
Mayor Mare wore a black suit and wore glasses. She turned and walked to the table.
“General Shining Armor,” said Cadence.
Shining Armor wore a red suit. On his chest was a silver breastplate with the design of a pink six-pointed star. He went to the table.
“Lady Fleur de Lis,” said Cadence.
Fleur de Lis wore a light blue dress. She went to the table.
“Your grace, the bishop of Ponyville,” said Cadence.
The bishop was known as Sweetie Belle. She was wearing a white outfit.
“The order of business will be read by the secretary of the board: Mrs. Celestia.” Cadence went to the table.
The most important ponies sat in the chairs.
“Let’s get this over with,” said Celestia.
“Proposal number nine: Presented by Dr. Luna,” said Cadence.
Luna went to the table with a book.
“The leader has the floor,” said Cadence.
“My ponies, we’re all aware of Dr. Luna’s controversial research,” said Celestia. “But our self-esteem is in rebuttal. It requires that she be allowed to make her request.”
Celestia looked at Luna before speaking and sitting down. “Luna. You can start talking.”
“The future, I can imagine, miracles no one imagined seeing,” Luna began to sing. “And now allow yourself, I’ll show your eyes if they say yes.”
“We all have two sides: evil and good, hate and love. If there was a way to take out the evil of us all, the world would be much better. No hate and no harm. The pony wouldn’t kill for the evil. A world where everything is good and war would never happen. And I’m close to finding that key in us that disarms evil and good, does and undoes the patterns in all of us. Give us light but darkness too. See the chance that will find salvation from the end. Our beginning, and also the end.” Luna sang.
Cadence was writing down everything Luna said, but stopped and got up to speak. “Doctor Luna, can we dismiss this and get on with the main subject?”
Luna looked at Candence. “Of course, Cadence. I apologize for my education.”
Cadence sat back down.
“Dear directors, I believe we can eliminate evil from humanity,” said Luna.
In response, everypony laughed, except Luna.
“My research has convinced that it is possible,” said Luna. “All I need is permission to test my formula on a guinea pig.”
“Do you want to use somepony for your own property?!” shouted Fancy Pants angrily.
“Or examine it and use it as a lab rat?” Fleur de Lis asked in disgust.
“A volunteer. Somepony who is overwhelmed by evil in such a way that he has no hope,” replied Luna.
“A mentally vulnerable patient?!” shouted Mayor Mare. “But this is very good!”
Everypony started to laugh. Minus Luna. She didn’t understand why they thought it was funny. Luna just wanted to help.
“A pony who has abandoned, a convict of this evil prison,” said Luna.
The governors said in unison. “Prison?”
“Just like all nursing homes. A future to lose. I only ask for one… whatever volunteer is willing,” said Luna.
Sweetie Belle set her front hooves on the table. “I’ll tell you, the church won’t let it.”
“Stop talking about this, Luna,” sang Mayor Mare. “I need to be against that.”
“What about your arrogance?” asked Sweetie Belle. “Playing God.”
“It speaks to all of us because there is only one Faust,” said Fancy Pants. “Ethics has been stepped on and respect, none.”
Cadence stood up. “It’s best that no one knows that the distance is not near at all…”
“Celestia, I’m a scientist, I would never hurt anypony,” said Luna. “Science I am faithful too.”
Celestia stood up. “Luna, I always supported that. Two wins I always wanted to applaud. But what you do isn’t good, I think now… you better give up…”
Luna looked back at the others. “I know. But knowing that everything I did was in vain and it will come to an end… so I beg you, say yes.”
Fleur de Lis stood up, not happy. “Doctor Luna, that’s enough. No one will agree.”
“We won’t let them play with fire and who we need to talk to.”
“Please,” asked Luna. “I ask you to let me do this.”
“See, look, I can’t,” said Candace.
Celestia started arguing with Luna over this, but Luna denied it. Everypony started talking.
“Order! Order!” Candence asked as she hit a wooden hammer.
“If I needed more justification for my experiences, knights. The side of us all that attacks. I ask you. I’ll prove it!” said Luna angrily.
A silence occurred. Until Luna sang again with hope. “This is our chance that fate will never be lost. There is a greater truth to face, the world will always change. The world will always ... change.”
“Honored ponies, time to vote. If you are in favor, say: Yes. Who disagrees: No,” sang Cadence.
Everypony except Luna and Cadence started singing. “No! No! No! No! No! No!”
“Starlight Glimmer,” began Luna. Starlight Glimmer looked at Luna.
“I… sighted myself. Sorry,” said Starlight Glimmer with her ears lowered.
“Five votes to zero. Dr. Luna’s wonderful proposal was rejected,” Cadence hammered the table. “Thank you for your presence.”
Everypony started leaving except Cadence, Luna and Celestia. Fleur de Lis left with Fancy Pants.
“I’m really sorry, Luna,” said Celestia. Luna looked at Celestia. “I tried to prepare you.”
Celestia left. Luna didn’t leave, just stepped forward, still a little sad.
“I’m sorry, Doctor Luna. It’s a pity what you got. May there be no consequences in your name.” Cadence left.
Twilight Sparkle went to Luna. She had watched it all. “Well, well. Finally they convinced you that you went crazy.”
“They’re medical friends, Twilight,” Luna lifted a hoof. “They are all hypocrites!”
Luna sighed. “Twilight, as my friend, what should I do?”
“Luna, they are hypocrites, yes. But they are powerful hypocrites. You need to be careful,” said Twilight Sparkle.
“Look, I can’t change what they say,” Luna sat down to sing. “What can I do if they don’t let me?”
“Look, you have come very far,” sang Twilight Sparkle. “Why despair?”
Luna stood up. “Twilight, I know I’m on the really right track. I believe I will and will give. I’m very close now.”
“If you’re right then, it’s much easier to go on,” sang Twilight Sparkle.
Luna started to walk. “It was seven years since I started and it will be by myself that I will go to the end. I see that they don’t want to help me along the paths I’ve walked. Try to fool my mind ... a mindless mare. If I could just… go and follow… ”
“But don’t forget… the monsters have power…” sang Twilight Sparkle as she and Luna left.
Several ponies with their couples appeared. The mares wore dresses and the stallions, suits. They started singing.
“Truth can find… truth find…”
“At an engagement party, the bride just waits.”
