6: Truth or Dare
Rainbow Dash and Applejack looked around the room, confused. Starlight, Sunset and Twilight all looked scared.
“It’s a great idea!” Trixie said defensively. “It’ll release any tension between us!”
“Sexual tension?” Twilight deadpanned, and Applejack coughed on the other side of the room.
“Maybe!” Trixie said confidently.
Starlight sighed in defeat. “I’ll go first,” she said. “Sunset, truth or dare.”
“Dare,” Sunset said with confidence.
Starlight thought for a moment. “I dare you to go through the portal and get us some bud.”
“Starlight, that’s a totally unfair dare!” Sunset said to her girlfriend.
“You did leave it at your apartment last time,” Twilight said factually.
Rainbow Dash stuttered for a moment, then said: “Um, you guys know I have a bit.”
Applejack looked at Rainbow Dash like she was crazy. “Excuse me?”
“Rainbow Dash is not only a closeted lesbian, but also a pothead.” Trixie said, mouth full of hot cheetos.
“Who ever said I was a closeted lesbian!” Rainbow Dash said defensively, taking the bag of hot cheetos from Trixie’s hand forcibly.
“When have you ever been with anybody?” Twilight said, thinking to herself. “I don’t think I’ve ever seen you date. Anyone.”
Rainbow Dash’s eyes widened and she fell silent.
“Nevermind that, Dash, get to rolling!” Trixie said, motioning for her to get up.
Rainbow Dash went into the bathroom and came back with a plastic baggie filled with marijuana.
She laid it out on the table, and pulled out a plate and papers from underneath the couch.
Applejack looked disgruntled.
“What’s wrong, Applejack?” Rainbow Dash asked while rolling and licking the joint with her tongue.
“I ain’t the kind of pony to smoke anything,” Applejack said, pulling her hat over her eyes in embarrassment.
“Oh.” Rainbow Dash said in surprise. “So you’ve never smoked weed?”
“Weed virgin alert!” Trixie said enthusiastically. “This night is already so interesting.”
“Applejack, I know what this is like. Just go with the flow, and maybe eat some pizza.” Twilight said, overbearingly like a mother would, with her hand on Applejack’s shoulder.
Rainbow Dash held up the joint with her wing and said, “Finished!” she then grabbed a lighter and lit the tip of the joint. She then inhaled, and passed it to Sunset.
Sunset took a hit, then passed it to Applejack. Applejack took an experimental hit, coughing as soon as it hit her throat.
“We have devirginized the repressed gays’ lungs.” Trixie said enthusiastically. Maybe a bit too much.
“Trixie, please shut up for once in your life.” Twilight said, deadpanning at Trixie.
Applejack sat there with her hooves by her sides, unblinking. “This is mighty strange.”
“Let’s continue playing!” Starlight said happily.
“Whose turn was it?” Rainbow Dash asked, passing the joint.
“Sunsets’,” Twilight said, as if she was keeping track.
Sunset looked around the room and then narrowed her eyes. “Rainbow Dash,” Sunset said dramatically. “Truth, or dare?”
“Um… dare?” Rainbow Dash said slightly timidly.
“I dare you to admit all of your feelings for Applejack.” Sunset said, evilly.
“Wait, what?” Rainbow said, caught off guard. “That’s a bit bold,” she said, chuckling nervously.
“Do it! Do it! Do it!” Trixie chanted as Applejack lowered her hat and Rainbow Dash fell deeper into her seat.
“Applejack is my friend.” Rainbow Dash said, hoping that would be all the devilish ponies would pull out of her.
“Oh, and is that all?” Sunset joked, playing along with Trixie.
“A good friend.” Rainbow Dash said stubbornly. “My turn,” Rainbow said. “Trixie, why are you so demanding?”
“You have to say truth or dare!” Twilight said to Rainbow Dash.
“Fine. Truth or dare, Trixie?”
“Dare.”
“I dare you to stop interfering with Applejack and I’s relationship,” Rainbow Dash deadpanned.
“So you admit it’s a relationship?” Trixie said, and it made Applejack quite angry.
“Listen here, Trixie,” Applejack began, “Dash ‘n I ain’t together. I dated a stallion today so I ain’t into that kinda thing.”
“Okay, Applejack, truth or dare.” Trixie challenged the orange pony across from her.
“Truth.” Applejack answered.
“Tell us the truth about the date you went on earlier.” Trixie said with a smug expression on her face.
Applejack grunted in discomfort then thought to herself. “It was mighty boring. Kinda wish I hadn’t gone now. I reckon he just wanted to have sex with me.”
“And don’t you think a girl would be better?” Trixie said, crossing her forelegs on the couch.
“Uhm… perhaps?” Applejack stuttered, caught off guard. Trixie really was something.
Rainbow Dash looked stunned in her seat. “So you’d date a mare?” she said, confused and surprised.
“Uhm…” Applejack looked around the room at the five mares staring straight at her soul. “I reckon.”
“Isn’t it exhausting to talk country all the time?” Trixie said, exasperated.
“Don’t make fun of the way Applejack talks.” Rainbow Dash said with intent. “It’s mean.”
“Ooh, defensive.” Trixie said smugly.
“For the love ‘a Celestia, control your girlfriend, Twilight,” Applejack said, annoyed.
“Trixie, shut up.” Twilight said, facepalming. “You’re not being a good guest.”
“Sorry, Twi.” Trixie said, relaxing her demeanor.
"Why don't you four get going?" Rainbow Dash suggested subtly.
"What about Applejack?" Twilight asked curiously.
"Um... I want to talk to her." Rainbow dash shrugged her shoulders nonchalantly.
"Oookay," Twilight said, winking at Rainbow Dash.
The four girls headed out, waving goodbye to their two friends as they left. Twilight and Starlight used their magic to float them down towards the ground.
Rainbow Dash closed the door and sighed. She looked over at Applejack, who was sitting there looking at her. She felt like she had just had a giant wave hit her in the face, and she didn't know where it came from. She guessed that was just the magic of the Great and Powerful Trixie.
Applejack looked at Rainbow Dash with a sorry face. She felt bad for the mare, having to deal with the rude guest, although Trixie wasn't off too far from the truth- there had been tension between Applejack and Rainbow Dash for quite some time. Perhaps her actions had a different motive than to just annoy them. Either way, Applejack just wanted to be with her dear friend.
"Applejack?" Rainbow Dash said quietly and timidly, looking at the mare in front of her. Her mane and coloring looked absolutely beautiful, as it usually did. Her signature cowboy hat was the finishing touch.
Applejack was someone Rainbow Dash admired. She had never met anypony half as awesome as she was before Applejack, and it was refreshing having someone as athletically inclined as her in her close circle. They always had a bond that they didn't have with the rest of their friends.
"What didcha wanna talk 'bout, Dash?" Applejack asked, looking at Rainbow Dash with her big green eyes, slightly adjusting her mane and swiping it behind her.
"About what Trixie said earlier..." Rainbow Dash began, nervous.
"Which part?" Applejack said, deadpanning. "She saida lotta things."
"Um... about asking me how I felt about you." Rainbow Dash looked Applejack in the eyes, and saw her tense up as Rainbow Dash's words left her mouth.
"How do ya feel 'bout me?" Applejack asked, tilting her head slightly.
Rainbow Dash thought over her words for a moment. She had to say just the right thing or everything could go wrong and Applejack could feel her coming on too strong.
"I think... we have a lot in common," Rainbow began, "you really get me in a way that other ponies don't. I really like you, and admire you, not that you're as awesome as me, but you're at least half as awesome." Rainbow smiled.
Applejack smiled back at Rainbow Dash with her bright green eyes. Her heart was racing a mile a minute. She never thought about Rainbow Dash as more than a friend, but she always felt so fond when she was around her. Like she wanted to protect her, or something.
Rainbow Dash went towards Applejack, until they were only a few inches apart from each other. They looked into each others' eyes intently and lovingly.
"Applejack?" Rainbow Dash piped up, breaking the tension into a million pieces.
"Yeah, Rainbow?"
"Do you wanna go to the Cloudsdale fair with me tomorrow?" Rainbow Dash asked curiously, her fringe covering her eyes in a cute way.
"Why, of course sugarcube." Applejack didn't even have to think about her answer. She smiled at her friend.
"Thanks..." Rainbow Dash said, drifting off as she looked further into Applejack's emerald eyes.
Applejack put her hoof on Rainbow Dash's face, and Rainbow Dash's heart rate went up. Applejack gave her a loving kiss on her cheek.
"I gotta head home, stay safe, darlin'."
"Okay, AJ." Rainbow Dash smiled, putting her hoof against the spot that Applejack kissed.
"See ya later." Applejack said, walking towards the door.
"Wait, how are you going to get home?" Rainbow Dash asked, concerned for her friend.
"Twilight got a hot air balloon for me." Applejack lowered her hat in salute. "She's mighty kind. I hope ya don't hold anything against her for today. The lot was just a bit excited, that's all."
"I get that." Rainbow smiled at Applejack.
Applejack then smiled at Rainbow Dash, and Rainbow could've swore she saw her eye sparkle in the light. She headed out the door, closing it behind her.
Now alone in her empty one-room house, Rainbow Dash smiled to herself. That was awesome.
