Who Gets The Name? (A Rewrite of "A Solution")

Vice Principal Luna stood silent, being completely out of her depth with this kind of situation. Solar Wind and Human Sunset continued to glare at the unicorn-turned-human. Pony Sunset, meanwhile, stood still for several moments, doing nothing but staring at her double.

"Well, who are you?" Human Sunset bellowed. "Some shapeshifting alien come to slowly take my life away from me, kill me, and replace me?!"

"Uh," Pony Sunset uttered with a sheepish smile, "you're about...half right." The father and daughter didn't look impressed, while Vice Principal Luna shot Sunset a disappointed look that made Sunset quiver.

"if I don't get a good answer from you in the next ten seconds," the middle-aged man growled with icy fury, "I'll be speaking to the police about identity fraud." Sunset felt her blood go cold.

"Mr. Solar Wind," Vice Principal Luna said, "I know how this looks, but this girl is not an identity thief. This girl is legitimately someone else named Sunset Shimmer. She's been at our school for years. I have the records to-"

"It isn't just the name!" Human Sunset wailed. "You have my face, you have my eyes, y-you, the only thing that looks different is the mangled goth jacket you're wearing."

Pony Sunset's hackles rose. "Hey, leave the jacket out of this!"

"Hey Sunny." The people in the room turned to see some blue-skinned girl walking in. "What's going-," Rainbow paused when she saw Human Sunset. "Oh my gosh!" she said excitedly, "I knew this day would come! After meeting the Other Twilight, I knew we would one day meet the Other Sunset!"

Human Sunset shot the rainbow-haired girl an offended look. "Who are you calling 'the other'! I'm Sunset! She's 'the other'!" Rainbow fell to the ground, rolling on the floor from gut-busting laughter.

"Look," Pony Sunset muttered in annoyance, "there is a perfectly good explanation for all this."

"Well out with it," Solar Wind said angrily, pulling out a cell phone, showing he was serious about calling the police.

Pony Sunset let out an annoyed sigh. "I have to show you two."

Human Sunset felt her fist clench. "Tell me now!"

"You're not gonna believe her explanation, so it would be best to let her show you," Vice Principal Luna urged Human Sunset and Solar Wind. The two were not moved. "If she can't prove it too you, I'll call the police myself." The two unbend a bit, letting out reluctant sighs.

"Fine," Human Sunset said with more than a bit of suspicion, "but until then, I've got my eye on you."

"She's a got a hot ass doesn't she," Rainbow piped in, before falling to the ground with hyena-like laughter.

"I really don't like that girl," Solar Wind muttered.

Vice Principal Luna nodded. "I understand."

Sunset and her fellow Rainbooms watched with anticipation as the Human Sunset and Solar Wind tumbled out of the portal. Both of them were in a daze.

"Don't worry," Pony Sunset assured the two humans as Applejack and Rainbow helped them up, "the first portal journey is always the toughest."

"Either that was the biggest drug trip I've ever been on," Solar Wind uttered like he was holding back vomit, "or we really did end up in some pony world." After a few more moments of discombobulation, the two pulled themselves together.

"So magic really is real?" Human Sunset said in a daze. The Rainbooms effortlessly demonstrated their powers again, much to the continued shock of the two humans. Pony Sunset put her hand on Human Sunset's head.

"You have a crush on Sugar Belle and you don't tell her because your afraid of ruining your friendship with her," Sunset said with a smirk.

Human Sunset blushed with embarrassment while Solar Wind was shocked. "How?"

"Like I said, telepathy," Pony Sunset replied with a proud smile. "Does this prove I'm not an identity thief?"

"OK fine," Human Sunset conceded, "you're not someone who stole my identity on purpose."

"So, can we finally throw that 'Sorry-For-The-Misunderstanding' party I've been wanting to throw for a while," Pinkie said excitedly.

Human Sunset looked angry. "No! This ends with you getting your butt back into the portal and going back to your stupid magic world." Pony Sunset and the Rainbooms looked confused and annoyed.

"Why?"

"If you were some nobody this wouldn't be an issue," Solar Wind said with a glare. "I can handle the mistaken bills with some paperwork that you can sign, accepting the charges."

Rarity came forward. "Then what's the problem?"

"Everybody at school was asking me about when I became a popstar!" Human Sunset furiously stated. The Rainbooms looked uncomfortable with that. "Since you're also a soon-to-be valedictorian, musician, WatchMe star, and superhero, I'm probably gonna be spending my entire life with random people telling me how much I look like Sunset Shimmer!"

Pony Sunset felt shame and guilt form on her face. "You're right. That isn't fair to you. If I could give up everything and go home, I would. But...the magic is only going to keep growing and I need to be here to keep an eye on it. And," she said, looking back at her friends, "I have a life here I don't want to give up. How would you like me to tell you to give up the friends you made?"

Human Sunset and Solar Wind's expressions softened at that. "I can see your point," Human Sunset said miserably, "but I don't to spend my life being overshadowed by you." Solar Wind walked up to his daughter and put a comforting arm on her shoulder.

"Why not trade," Rainbow offered, "you can live in the magical pony world, and the-," Rainbow paused with another glare from the two, "-our Sunset can live here."

"Do they have cable and beer?"

"No," Pony Sunset replied.

"Then no," Human Sunset said firmly.

"Don't worry." Human Twilight said with a smile. "I have a solution."

"Duel to the death," Fluttershy said excitedly, "over who can be the real Sunset?"

"That sounds like a good idea," Solar Wind said half-ironically, "get me a gun and I'll settle this in ten seconds." Everyone started looking at the man with horror, not sure he wouldn't try something like that.

"No," Human Twilight said to Human Sunset. "You just have to change your name, face, and identity." Human Twilight pulled out her laptop.

Rarity looked excited and ran up to Human Sunset. "Give me some time, Darling, and I can come up-,"

"I am not changing my identity!" Human Sunset bellowed. "I am Sunset Shimmer, and nothing is going to change that!"

"I believe I have another idea," Rarity said. "This one has been instilled in me by countless soap operas."

"What is it?" Human Sunset asked.
