Author's Note

This is a cozy glow chapter told in the point of view of Cozy Glow herself, and takes place right after Episode 8.

Season 1, Episode 9: Cozy Origins

Four words.

That's all the male changeling in front of me needed to say to get me to understand everything.

Those four words...they changed everything for me.

"I am your father."

That is what he said to me.

"But...but how...why?" I asked, confused.

"Because Cozy Glow...your mother thought it'd be best if she told you once you were old enough. But she died and you did bad things before she could tell you about yourself. Such as the fact that you aren't just related to ponies..." The Changeling said. "But also, that you have changeling blood in your genes." He added. "My name is Firefly; like the bug that lights the night sky. Your mother fought it'd be fitting to name you 'Cozy' after your great grandmother, and 'Glow' to reference the actual bugs called fireflies." The Changeling explained.

"So...then your really my father then..." I said. "...Suddenly everything makes sense. If my father was a changeling that explains my need for power." I added.

"The potential was there yes, but you acted on that potential of your own accord. Me being your father had nothing to do with it by itself. If you had found true friendship...you wouldn't have gone down such a dark road." Firefly said.

"I've only just now discovered true friendship...how do I know what I'm feeling in regards to friendship is right?" Cozy Glow asked.

"At one point in your life, you'll have to find out the answer for yourself. I can only say this: You don't have to find that answer of your own accord. Talk with your new friends, check to see how they feel about friendship, and then form your own opinions. Just remember to be you. Friendship can only be true if you are the you you let others see." Firefly explained. I gave a soft smile.

"Thanks for that...father." I said and turned to leave. "I'll try to keep in touch." I said as I left.

"I will as well...my daughter." Firefly said to me as I left. I am half-pony, half-changeling.

And I am okay with that.
