Season 1. Episode 8: Getting Cozy
I wake up with a yawn and stretch my legs. I quickly put my special necklace on and head over to the kitchen for breakfast. Now that I've become more accepted and forgiven for the things I've done around here, people are more at ease around me, but still on guard. Some of these people think this is another plot of mine. But it isn't. The note my mother gave me told me to try and make friends. I suppose if nothing else, I should honor my mother's wishes. Besides, I have no reason to want to try a third take over. I know they say third time's the charm, but I don't believe in superstitions like that. Then again, this is my third time around.
But I can say up front I have no evil plan this time running in the background. Instead, my plans for the today might shock Twilight. See, today, I plan on going to Ponyville and seeking out my mother's house. I want to pay my respects for not being there when she died above all else. I told Twilight about this at breakfast. Also in case anyone asks, I've even become close to the Princess herself, and she insists I only call her Twilight. "I suppose that would be fair. But I insist a few guards go with you. More so for your own protection rather then for the protection of Ponyville. The Ponies in Canterlot may have forgiven you, but they have not. It is where the School of Friendship stands after all." Twilight said.
"I know that, Twilight. But I really feel like this is something I have to do." I told her. Twilight gave me a nod.
"Don't worry, I understand." Twilight said. I gave a smile.
"Thanks for that, Twilight." I told her.
I was flown to Ponyville via chariot shortly after breakfast. It would not take me long to find my mother's home. Sure it was empty and on the market, but I was not going to buy this house. I don't deserve to live here. At least not yet. Not until I feel like I've earned it. Still, at least being in the house would give me an idea of where my mother had lived. Believe it or not, but I never knew my father. I was raised by my mother alone; whenever I would ask about my father, she would always say that he was always so busy so I never saw him when I was awake. But I've grown old enough to know that was a lie. The reality has to be that he and my mother simply divorced. There was no reason for her to sugar coat it. Regardless, I was more mad at my mother when I joined the School of Friendship then I was at my father for divorcing her. My mother was always trying to shove friendship down my throat. It was sickening. Funny thing is, now I'm actually enjoying making friends. On my own terms too. Maybe that's what I was missing the whole time, was needing to make friends on my own terms instead of someone else's. Maybe then I would've never been thrown into Tartarus or turned to stone for that matter. That last one was a wake up call. Big time.
As I stood in my mother's old house pondering this, I noticed a stallion enter. "Oh?" He said looking at me funny. "I'm sorry for disturbing you miss. I'm the one in charge of selling this house." He said. The stallion wasn't much to look at, he was blue with a few green accents; his cutie mark was also that of a house so he must be the realtor.
"Do you know about the mare that lived here?" I asked him.
"Yes. I do. The question is, do you?" He asked me back. I nodded.
"I did. Once. Feels like a lifetime ago." I said. "Truth of the matter is, I'm her daughter but...I don't deserve to live here." I said. The Stallion had trotted over to a button. The stallion in question was also a Unicorn.
"...Your the mare's daughter huh..." He said. "Then that must make you Cozy Glow, yes?" He asked. I flinched. How did he know my name?
"You knew about me?" I asked. The stallion nodded.
"Tell me...what did your mother tell you about your father?" The stallion asked me, hoof hovering over the button.
"She told me that he was always busy and that's why I never saw him. But in reality, I think she was covering the fact that the two of them were divorced." I said.
"She never divorced your father." The Stallion said.
"And how do you know that?" I asked. Suddenly the stallion pressed the button. As soon as he pressed the button, the back wall of the house went away to reveal what looked to be a changeling made area of the house.
"...Because Cozy Glow..." The stallion said before a green flame enveloped him. As it turns out, the stallion was a reformed changeling; and he was blue with red accents. "...I am your father." He said.
My eyes went wide in shock and realization as everything finally clicked in my head. Everything suddenly made sense to me. Why I had wanted power so badly. Why I had done the things I did.
As soon as the changeling said those words...Everything clicked.
