Luster's Journal: Entry Number Eleven - Chrystalis

It didn't take long for me to receive word about Chrystalis from Screwball. And just as quickly for Twilight to teleport over.

Castle of Friendship - Map Room

Twilight was looking at Chrystalis judgingly which caused the changeling to shake in fear.

"Why is the mean purple alicorn leering at me angerly?" Chrystalis asked. Luster Dawn sighed.

"Twilight...please...just because she's Chrysalis's daughter doesn't mean you should judge her on that merit alone..." Luster Dawn said.

"Her mother was stealing the love from my brother; I can very easily banish Chrystalis from--" Twilight began.

"Stealing love is wrong!" Chystalis spoke up out of nowhere. Twilight and Luster both blinked.

"Um...come again?" Twilight asked, confused.

"Stealing love from other creatures; no matter what creature they may be; is just wrong to me!" Chrystalis said. "The animals of Everfree Forest willingly gave up their love to me so long as I played with them every morning." She added. "And thus, it was a healthy relationship: I got the love I needed for me and my mother without harming any single creature in the process." Chrystalis finished.

"That's...very particular..." Twilight said in a mix between shock and disbelief.

"Some of the animals at fluttershy's cottage were even willingly sharing their love with her too; not wanting her to go unchecked." Luster Dawn said. "I learnt a spell that can track love." She added.

"So even Fluttershy's animals see her kind heart..." Twilight said, curious now. "...Chrystalis...I'm starting to think you don't like the way your mother does things." She added.

"I don't! If I could, I'd share love instead of taking it; but my mother said that would make me get sick." Chrystalis said. This now made Twilight look convinced.

"...That's a lie. Sharing love freely won't cause you any side effects; in fact, by sharing love generously, you'll find that you'll never go hungry." Twilight said.

"Is...that right?" Chrystalis asked. "Because mommy says I'll get sick." She added.

"Chrysalis; your mother; is lying to you. Just share love freely with me and Luster Dawn here; you'll see." Twilight said.

"O-okay...I'll try it but...if I start to get sick, I will stop. I don't want to get sick." Chrystalis said before she started generously giving love to both Twilight and Luster. Suddenly, without warning, she found herself wrapped up in the reformation caccoon before emerging as a reformed changeling. "What...what happened?" Chrystalis asked, confused. Twilight levitated over a mirror. "Is...is that me?" Chrystalis said looking at her reflection.

In the mirror was a pale green changeling with clear blue wings; the Changeling princess couldn't help but find her new form quite beautiful.

"Damn...I look good." Chrystalis said.

"I told you you wouldn't get sick. Do you feel sick at all?" Twilight asked.

"No. No I don't. In fact..." Chrystalis smiled. "I couldn't feel any better! I feel so alive...so full of energy!" She said as she started to celebrate in glee. Twilight couldn't help but giggle.

"I told you." Twilight said.

"So then why...why did my mother lie?" Chrystalis asked. "This isn't a sickness...this is great!" She added.

"Your mother never told you what happened to her old hive, did she?" Twilight asked.

"I have a feeling there's a story behind that..." Chrystalis said.

"Oh there is." Luster Dawn said, grabbing popcorn. "Popcorn?" She asked Chrystalis.

Some time later...

To say Chrystalis was mad at her mother was an understatement; she punched the nearby wall in anger.

"Mother...how could you?!" Chrystalis said. "All that talk about calling this a sickness...it was all a lie!" She added in frustration.

"It seems your mother still hasn't accepted friendship into her life." Twilight said.

"Well I am NOT like my mother; I knew that since day one of my birth!" Chrystalis said. "Stealing love is wrong; and if giving love generiously fills me with so much life and energy, then..." She stopped for a moment. "...Maybe the next time I see my mother...I can get her to understand..." Chrystalis said.

"I think by this point your mother is a lost cause." Twilight said. "She's refused friendship, and she's continuing to refuse reformation." She said.

"All of you tried. All of you tried and failed. But your not me." Chrystalis said. "...Your not the daughter of Queen Chrysalis. The only thing more important to her then anything else...that would be me. I'm what she values most." She added. "Thus, you have a card you didn't before: The family card." Chrystalis said.

As much as Twilight didn't want to admit it...Chrystalis had a point. They had a new card to play: The family card.
