Cozy Glow's P.O.V.

So turns out being near Astrotle Mondoli made Tirek pretty sick so for the time being he's staying at the Castle of Friendship which means I now have to stay over in Ponyville. Not that I mind; I get to make more Ponyville friends that way and hang out with the ones I've already made.

"Why are you so into this whole friendship thing all of a sudden?" Tirek asked me yesterday after we brought him back.

"It's a long story, and you would sooner use your powers to drain my magic then properly listen to the whole thing." I said to him.

Fact of the matter is, I knew I was right. I know him. He'd drain my magic just so I would shut up about everything I've been through half-way through. Fact of the matter is, I'd do the same too if I was my old self. Just because I've accepted proper friendship into my life doesn't mean I don't have some ambitions still in me. Like for instance, I do want to be an Alicorn again. But I can take my time. I'm not going to rush that. I'll think of some way to become an Alicorn again, but for now, I'm content with making friends.

"Hey." I was brought out of my inner monologue by Sunset Shimmer. "Cozy Glow, right?" She asked me.

"And you would be Sunset Shimmer; I've seen you around here and there." I said. She came up to me and even had a chess board.

"I heard from Twilight you like playing chess. Figured you'd like to play me." She said.

"Meh...I guess if your offering, I won't refuse. I will beat you in seven moves." I said. After a while though, I felt like I should've put a back hoof into my mouth. I didn't beat her in seven moves; we ended up reaching a stalemate after one hundred and twenty eight moves.

"A Stalemate..." Sunset announced.

"You know...your the second person ever whose been able to get me into stalemate. Trust me on that one. The first person was actually my own father and he was a pro." I said. "I thought that you would be easy to beat...turns out you play pretty ambitiously yet strategically. Which is weird. That's supposed to be my thing." I said. Sunset chuckled.

"Twilight never told you about my past huh?" Sunset asked.

"Admittedly, no. No she didn't." I said.

We spent the next few hours talking about Sunset's past and what she's done in the world beyond the mirror Twilight kept in this castle that apperently lead to a world of humans. I couldn't help but feel a special kinship with her so I told her about what I did in this world which is of Equestria. To say we had similar ambitions to the point where we could be good friends was an understatement. I then told her something I haven't told anyone else yet.

"Believe it or not though Sunset, I kind of want to become an Alicorn again. Not for the power, but to continue helping and leading others. I know what motivates people. It's part of my talent of being a strategist." I said.

"Well Cozy, you wouldn't be the only one looking to be an Alicorn." Sunset admitted. "I do to, but I know it's something that has to be earned. And I want to do things in this world that can help me achieve the right." She added, smiling.

"That's a good outlook Sunset." I said. "I guess it wouldn't be special if it was easy to get. Sure Flurry Heart is the only exception to that sort of rule, and while Grogar's Bell allowed me to become an Alicorn without earning it, it wasn't permanent it seems. Twilight's Alicornhood seems to be a part of her now because I know from her friend Rainbow Dash that Twilight used to be a Unicorn like you." I explained.

"Becoming an Alicorn isn't exclusive to Unicorns though. From what Twilight told me, Cadence used to be a Pegasus not unlike yourself. So it's possible for other pony races to become Alicorns too." Sunset said, smiling.

"Well I'm also a half-breed; specifically half-pony, half-changeling." I said. "Something I found out a while back." I said.

"Doesn't matter what you are, I'm sure you'll earn being on the same level as Twilight someday. I have faith that you will." Sunset said, smiling.

"That's really nice of you Sunset. Let's try and earn being Alicorns together why don't we?" I asked, reaching out a hoof to Sunset. She smiled and hoof bumped me. My necklace reacted to my new bound, but suddenly it started glowing even brighter then before. It was bright enough to attract everyone to the same room. When the light finally ended, I shook my head.

"...Oh my gosh..." Sunset said. I couldn't say anything and had my eyes closed but eventually whatever happened passed.

"...That...was a rush..." I said when I could finally speak. "...Why's everyone looking at me?" I asked. I checked a nearby mirror. No horn.

"For a brief moment...you were an Alicorn." Luster said.

"That's impossible." I said. But then I took a look at my necklace. The pendent on it had grown larger. "...Unless..." I tried concentrating on the bounds I've been making since my revival. My necklace glowed bright before I suddenly was an Alicorn again. But I could tell it was temporary. After a bit, it faded.

"I think your necklace may have granted you the ability to become some sort of Faux Alicorn." Sunset said.

"This thing really is special then. Which means my mother was right..." I said. "There's something special about this pendent...and it might just be the key to becoming a true Alicorn." I added.

If my necklace reacts to me making friends, then perhaps if I deepen my friendships enough and make enough friends, it may make me an Alicorn on a more permanent basis.

Author's Note

PLOT DEVOLOPMENT! Also yeah, I decided to create a temporary Alicorn form called "Faux Alicorn"; a form earned that's somewhere between an actual Alicorn and a pony's original race. A Faux Alicorn state may be temporary, but during that time, a Pony does have the strength and capabilities of an Alicorn; just not the full effects of being one. The full effects still have to be earned and when they are, a pony will be a permanent Alicorn.
