Luster Dawn's Journal: Entry Number 4 - History of the CMC

Applebloom, Sweetie Belle, and Scootaloo. Those are the names of the Cutie Mark Crusaders. Sure, Diamond Tiara and Silver Spoon help out, but the real CMC are the three mares I've mentioned. One is the younger sister of Applebloom. One is the younger sister of Rarity. And the other is the surrogate sister of Rainbow Dash. That's three of the elements of harmony; which have long since been destroyed by the evil King Sombra; right there. Even if the elements themselves have been destroyed, their values and ideas have been adopted across all of New Equestria. Oh, did I forget to mention that earlier? Yeah, after the infamous "Battle of the Bell", all the kingdoms decided to band together under one banner, with rulers for the various creatures from across the continent. After thinking it over, the new continent was named "New Equestria" and the name has stuck ever since.

But regardless of if your a pony, a changeling, a dragon, a griffon, a hippogriff, or even a Kirin, one thing is true to all: If your ever in need of some identity help of any kind, the CMC has got your back. At least that's what I learnt after today. Serious history lesson incoming.

Luster Dawn guided the CMC to the Friendship Castle. "Oh...that's why you said moving in wouldn't be a problem." Diamond Tiara spoke first.

"Why did I have a feeling it'd be this?" Scootaloo asked.

"Probably because Luster is Twilight Sparkle's student." Sweetie Belle answered.

"Wonder if the map room is available for us to chat in." Silver Spoon said. "We do have a history of the CMC to go over before we get started after all." She said.

"Yeah. We give the same history speech to everyone. Ah'm almost thinkin' we should write it down somewhere." Applebloom said.

"We have. Trust me, we have. We just lost the paper and still haven't found it." Diamond Tiara said.

"I told you, I was sorry." Silver Spoon said.

"We know." Diamond Tiara said. The group entered the map room.

"Well your in luck: My mother and father are away for the weekend. Some sort of 'romantic getaway' as they put it." Luster Dawn said.

"Right, then let's get right into it. The CMC was started by me, Applebloom, and Sweetie Belle back when were markless." Scootaloo said.

"We did everything we could to get our cutie marks, but at one point, we came across this one pony named Trouble Shoes. He was given a cutie mark that showed off his unlucky nature: An upside down horseshoe. But Trouble Shoes really wanted to be a part of the rodeo." Sweetie Belle said.

"So, we gave Trouble Shoes the idea of becoming a Rodeo Clown. That was when we had our first instance of dealing with someone having an identity problem." Applebloom said.

"But then, one day, it was the school election for the class president. Pip; a pony from trottingham; was one of the canidates. Diamond Tiara was the other. In the end, Pip won the election, and Diamond Tiara was devastated." Silver Spoon said.

"Yeah. My mother was not happy about it to say the LEAST. When that occurred, I realized just how dark my life was becoming." Diamond Tiara said. "So I sang a song about wishing to be somepony else, and the CMC heard it. That's when they helped me out." Diamond Tiara said. Suddenly music.

Cutie Mark Crusaders I've got something I need to say...

I was heading down a path that was leading me astray.

But now I've changed my ideas.

All I thought I ever knew, of my cutie mark

The music died down. "That...was beautiful DT." Applebloom said. Diamond Tiara blushed.

"Th-thanks AB..." Diamond Tiara said. "You should be able to get the gist of how they helped me from what I sang." Diamond Tiara said.

"Yeah. I think I can figure that much out." Luster Dawn said.

"Thanks to the CMC, I was able to become my better self, stand up to my mother, and make up with my best friend Silver Spoon." Diamond Tiara said.

"That was when we realized we had so much fun helping other ponies discover their true talents." Scootaloo said.

"And thus, after coming together in that moment with the same thought, we were given our cutie marks." Sweetie Belle said, showing off hers. "Sure, their identical to a degree, but that's what binds us. Our special talent all along was helping others discover what makes them so special." She said.

"Yeah. We even once got summoned by the map for a friendship problem involving a hippogriff who had relatives both on land and in the sea. We managed to help him realize that he can continue being a flipper between sea and land." Applebloom said.

"And that's when it hit us like a ton of bricks: It's not just ponies who will need help with their identity problems, but other species too." Sweetie Belle pointed out. "Thus, we branched out. We've even helped a few Kirins along the way, including this one Kirin who had similar issues with his identity as the hippogriff: He liked being both his natural Kirin state and that other state. I forget what it's called." She added.

"All the same...that's when me and Diamond Tiara decided to help out." Silver Spoon said. "We figured that with our pockets and their talents, there wouldn't be a problem we couldn't handle together." She said.

"Yeah. Me and Silver Spoon may not be part of the actual Cutie Mark Crusaders, but that doesn't mean we don't contribute towards the CMC in our own ways. Heck, I once was able to help out with a griffon who was pretty much just like how I was. I really was able to get him and his problems because of it." Diamond Tiara said. "Which is when I realized, I could use my background and my own skills as a motivator to help out the CMC when they need it." She added.

"This gave me a lot to think about. Thanks. It's getting late. I suggest you get settled in." Luster Dawn said.
