Trinity of Time: Fate and Change
Scene 3 Act 1 Part 3 (Disconnection)
Previous ChapterNext Chapter"Why don't you sit down Neo-Equestrian? Please, make yourself comfortable." I was a little afraid of what may be in store for me. However, he didn't seem like a bad colt. He had a long, silver mane covering his right eye, coupled with a somewhat gray coat. The colors fit together perfectly. It's not wonder his name is Silver. I'd place him close to my age range; probably in his late twenties too.
"Do you mind if I clear my throat a little bit? My voice usually isn't this gruff." Whatever pleases you. It's your house. I'm the guest here. "Ah! Much better! Are you comfortable on those pillows?" Dude, you have a leather chair. I have pillows. What do you think? "Sorry, but I'll have to adjust this chair a little. Give me a moment here... Ai! Go fetch extra pillows for our guest!" And just like that, the violet pony vanished as swiftly as she came.
"Now then, tell me how you got here." I don't know why, but something felt soothing about him. He was a completely unmodified Earth Pony; one of the few remaining in this world. I couldn't help but feel at ease before him. I wanted to tell him more. I wasn't afraid he'd betray my secrets. I went on, and on, and on for what I felt was an eternity. he just sat there, listening. I didn't even notice Ai handing me extra pillows until she was literally next to me. This level of trust, established so fast, couldn't have been a spell. Ai was a unicorn, but I doubt she would be skilled enough to pull of an enchantment like this. Silver just sat there, listening. Eventually, Ai made herself comfortable too. Neither she or I were afraid of him.
"That's very interesting Disconnection. I must say, I expected nothing less from the Flames of Fate." Still, what are the Flames of Fate? "I'm glad you asked that question Disconnection." What?! Did he just read me mind or something? How did he know? I didn't say anything, right? "The Flames of Fate are a precious mark, rumored to house incredible power. I've heard somewhere that they originated somewhere East. Hmm... Yes... East of Eden..." I could've sworn I just saw Ai wink at him. His reply was nothing short of a smile.
"Oh dear! Look at the time! I believe you must be very hungry. Go ahead and help yourself. The dining hall is down that hall. Ai, may I speak to you for a moment." I pretended leaving down the hall, when in reality, I stuck my back against the wall next to the door. "What is it master?" I heard her ask.
"- Please, there is no need to call me master anymore, my liege.
-I am not your monarch, nor may I ever aspire to be.
-Ah yes..."
Wait... That's Ai speaking, right? Everything was silent for a moment. Why was Ai talking about being a monarch? I heard hoofsteps moving away from the door.
"-Do you know about the monarch butterfly?
-Pardon me Silver?
-The monarch butterfly is such a marvelous species. I simply admire the flamboyance of its wings.
-What does this have to do with anything?"
Another uneasy silence, this time far longer. Why is he talking about monarch butterflies? This all seems pretty strange...
"-Surely, a queen like you must have heard of the 'Butterfly Effect?'
-I am not a queen.
-You mean to tell me you have no intention of outranking your mother?
-Mother and Auntie have their own duties upstairs. My job is to protect those who struggle to survive down here?
-Surely, you will not be of much help inside these city walls."
Mother and Auntie? Who could she be referring too? I heard Silver sip something; probably tea.
"-Mother and Auntie have nothing to do upstairs. They are ignored, and forgotten by all.
-None of this would have happened if the Scrolls never made it past the borders.
-I must say; for a monarch, you sure love to pin your problems on others.
-Are you saying Mother and Auntie are incompetent?! The fall of Equestria was none of their fault!
-Hush, please. You're so noisy for your age.
-How dare you speak to me like that?"
Silver chuckled. Neither ponies said anything for a while. Mother and Auntie... Upstairs... Outranking... The fall of Equestria... Could it be? No... That's impossible. I seriously doubt it. Hmm... Everything she said points to Celestia and Luna. However, I am confident Celestia never had a child, or else the world would have been notified of such an important event! Then again, our world is too self-centered nowadays. Maybe the news concerning this 'foal' were tossed aside, merely glanced over, just like everything else that is truly important. Finally, a stern, feminine voice broke the silence.
"-Why did you choose this form?
-I beat your pardon Majesty?
-Ugh... Stop calling me that! Anyways, why an Earth pony? You could have been a powerful unicorn, a skillful pegasus, or maybe even an All-Mighty Alicorn, respected and feared by all!"
From the minuscule opening, I saw Silver shrug. What the heck man?! What is she talking about? Isn't Ai your maid, but now you're referring to her as 'queen?' What's all this business about Alicorns?! Ugh... Brain hurts... So many... So much information coming in at once. How am I going to make sense of this? Something inside my brain tells me I probably won't be able to.
"You place too much confidence in my powers, yet never enough in yours. You chose to become a maid under my authority. Why not a scribe, a business parter, or co-founder?"
"And besides; being what I am is not fun at all. I want challenge. I want hardships. I want to feel the pressure of society, even if higher class. I know at the end of the day, my work brings hopes and smiles amongst those in need. I want to feel alive, something I haven't done in far too long."
The two were coming towards the door. I made no efforts hiding. When asked, the two i had simply lost my way. Without even the slightest ounce of suspicion, Silver ordered Ai to show me the way. Quietly, I trailed not too far behind. I heard everything. I remember everything. What the heck is going on here?
