Twilight's Tough Decisions
Chapter 6 - Friday Fun
Previous ChapterNext ChapterIt was a bright morning when the two sleeping mares woke up in Twilight's castle in each other's embrace. Starlight wanted to get up, but Trixie wouldn't allow it. "Trixie, you got to let me let up so I can get some water."
Trixie just held onto Starlight even tighter like her life depended on it. "No, I want to stay here with you. This is too comfortable."
Starlight just rolled her eyes sarcastically. Trixie was going to be a fun one. She'd always found Trixie to be cute. Her whining was always a cute thing that she did, even though it sounded like a small filly not getting their way and throws a tantrum.
"Okay fine, but you're going to make breakfast when we get up."
Trixie just smiled. The unicorn was never a great cook, but the breakfast problem can be dealt with later. All that she cared about was being able to stay in bed a while longer with her new marefriend. Wow, they're actually a couple now.
Starlight had time to think as she was just lying there with Trixie not letting go of her. The thoughts of what Sunset explained to them yesterday was still on her mind. How could it leave her mind if it's something this serious? How could you just forget about suicide? We have to talk to Twilight about this. We must help her before it's too late.
She also remembered that Sunset should be coming back again. Maybe she'll talk talk to Twilight when all three of them are together. That will let her know how serious they're taking it.
Twilight woke up again before Rainbow Dash to start her meditating session. Those always seemed to pay off for her ever since she started doing them. She sat on the cloudy floor and began to do her meditation. After a couple of minutes, she got up and turned to see that her marefriend was still not up. She decided to go to the kitchen and get water. She was quite thirsty and decided to fill it to the rim and drink it all.
She then headed back to the room and snuck back into bed, this time with her hooves wrapped around Rainbow like she was her care taker. The pegasus then woke up to the feeling of hooves wrapped tightly around her body and with a head resting overtop her shoulder. She saw that it was her lover and just lied there and let it happen. There was no need to break this lovely moment.
After a few minutes of both ponies feeling relaxed, Rainbow shifted her body around so that she was face to face with Twilight. "Good morning, my baby. You must've had a great sleep by the looks of it."
Twilight was just smiling at the thought of how cute Rainbow was treating her. "I did, Rainy, and good morning to you too." Both mares cuddled up closely together to share the love they had for each other.
Rainbow had the perfect plan today to show the love she had for her marefriend. It was planned in the past with her friends to help set everything up. She would take Twilight out for a picnic in the lovely outdoors by the slow stream of river with the sun shining away in the beautiful clear blue sky. That would be the start. The rest of her plan would slowly come in until they went to bed together.
"Twilight, I planned a special surprise for you today to show my love for you and to make it a memorable day."
This made Twilight excited. "Oh!? What is it, Dashie? I've never had a surprise from you before," Twilight quickly blurted out before Rainbow put a hoof over her mouth and chuckled.
"Don't you know the definition of a surprise? You don't say to the pony you're trying to surprise, the surprise. It wouldn't be a surprise anymore."
This made Twilight blush at how foolish she was acting. "Well, when does it start?"
Rainbow kissed her on the lips before jumping off the bed to get ready. "Right now."
Twilight smiled and got up as well. She followed Rainbow Dash to the kitchen and saw a basket full of goods. The cyan pegasus picked it up and they headed outside to fly to the planned picnic spot.
Once they both arrived, Rainbow looked over to Twilight and saw her face in absolute glory. It was amazing to see her so surprised. She couldn't even find the right words to say at the moment. "Rainbow, I-I." Twilight was shushed by a hoof wrapping around her mouth and a whisper to her ear. "Just let it happen, Twi. This is the start of your very special day with me. Let's not waste a second of it," Rainbow finished with a three second kiss to her cheek. Twilight just blushed harder. Rainbow was being really romantic.
They both set up a few feet from the river stream and laid out down their blanket. Rainbow then put down the basket and opened it up. She took out two plates and set them down. She then took out some salad that was layered with sauce and seasoning. Twilight looked skeptical at the food but decided to try it. It seemed that Rainbow was catching on to what Twilight was thinking. "It looks strange huh?"
The purple mare just nodded and as soon as they both had their plates with food, they took a bite. Twilight's eyes went wide at the flavor. Her mouth felt like it was in heaven. "Rainbow, this is so amazing."
Rainbow smiled at the positive feedback. "I put a lot of work into it. I did some experimenting of which blend of sauce and seasoning would be best with each other. I tried many bad ones until I found this mix."
"Wow, you really put in a lot of effort for this? I thought this was just a quick thing you did for a picnic." Twilight was shocked that she actually did a lot of tasting until she found the perfect combination.
"Yeah, it took a while. But the important thing is that I'm sharing it with my one and only true love of my life right in front of me." Twilight smiled at how surprising the pegasus could be. Twilight had never thought Rainbow had this side to her.
After both ponies took some time to talk and eat, the pegasus was getting ready to start the next part of her surprise. She looked over to one specific area that she told Spitfire to hide behind to see if she was there, and she indeed was. Rainbow had planned with the Wonderbolts to give Twilight an amazing show while she came in at the finale to draw amazing love art in the air and give Twilight the best show she would ever see in her life. That would soon come after eating dessert.
"Ready for the dessert, Twilight?" The alicorn's ears perked in excitment. "Oh my gosh, you bought me dessert?"
"Yes, Twilight. Hopefully the dessert of your life," Rainbow excitedly responded. What she was really excited about though, was the Wonderbolt show that would soon happen. But for now, it was dessert time.
Rainbow lifted up the dessert that made Twilight's mouth water. A glass filled vanilla and chocolate ice cream sundae with caramel drizzling. The multicolored sprinkles were just a little add on Rainbow added along with two fresh cherries on top. She laid it down with a spoon for Twilight then got one for herself.
Twilight was beginning to cry but in a good way. Rainbow really went all the way with this surprise. "You, you did this for me?" Twilight softly whispered. Rainbow just smiled and nodded. "Thank you," Twilight again whispered.
"Don't thank me yet. You can thank me at the end of the day when you've seen all of your surprises." This caused Twilight to smile with tears of joy.
As they made more small talk while eating their sundae, Spitfire was just smiling to herself. "She sure does know how to make Twilight's heart melt," Spitfire whispered to the Wonderbolt group.
The two mares were soon getting close to finishing their sundae, and so Rainbow looked over to Spitfire and gave the signal, telling her to get the pegasus group in position for the start of their show. Rainbow and Twilight soon got done and it was now time to begin. "Okay, are you ready for the next part of your surprise? This one is sure to blow you away," Rainbow said excitedly.
This got Twilight all pumped up. "Are you kidding!? I've been ready ever since we've got here!" Rainbow was chuckling. She wished Twilight was like this all the time. "Okay then, sit tight. I'll be back soon."
Twilight couldn't stop moving. She was so excited about what Rainbow had planned for her next.
Rainbow went around behind the tree where Spitfire and Soarin were and it was time for the show to finally begin. "Now," she whispered as she was putting on her own Wonderbolt uniform that she prepared. Spitfire made sure that the entire group was looking at her. Once she saw that she had all eyes, she gave the signal. The Wonderbolt group took off while Rainbow was just about done getting each hoof inside.
The sudden sounds and sight of smoke in the air got Twilight's attention immediately and looked up to see the Wonderbolts starting their show. The Wonderbolts started with their basic flying formation. After a few minutes in, Rainbow loaded in some fireworks that were specially designed to resemble faces of ponies. She launched the first one at the moment the pegasus group made a large circle. Once the firework was in the middle of the group, it exploded and Twilight saw a love heart. This made Twilight hold a hoof over her mouth as she was about to start crying in joy of how well this was done.
Rainbow then launched two fireworks at the same time which exploded and showed both of their faces. If it was possible for Twilight's smile to get any bigger than it already is now, then she deserves a reward. Heck, her reward was happening right in front of her eyes.
It was now for the grand finale. Four of the Wonderbolts flew down to attach themselves to a banner. They flew back up and Twilight's eyes went wide at what she saw. The four pegasi flew the extremely large banner which showed them kissing each other. As they got to the center, all of the other ponies flew around it and flapped their wings to keep the banner lifted up.
It was finally the moment the cyan pegasus was waiting for. Rainbow then swooped in with a Rainbow-colored cloud trail and wrote, I LOVE YOU, in big bold letters above the banner. She then proceeded to draw half of a heart around the entire frame. She flew back down to the ground to now carry the Twilight-colored cloud trail that consisted of all of the colors Twilight had. She flew back up and wrote, TWILIGHT, under the banner. She then finished the other half of the heart with Twilight's color trail. After the entire image was set, Rainbow flew back down to grab the camera that was with all of the other gear. She landed next to Twilight and took a picture of the art she made to keep forever.
Rainbow gave the alicorn a few seconds to let this all sink in. She was then grabbed by her marefriend's hooves to get pulled into a hug. The pegasus hugged back and stayed like that for a few minutes, letting Twilight have her moment.
After everything was slowly dying away, the flight group decided that it was finished and set hoof back on ground to get everything packed up and ready to go. Twilight was full on crying out of pure happiness and couldn't contain herself. Rainbow just stroked her marefriend's mane slowly as the other Wonderbolts let out an "aww" at the sight of the cute couple. The Wonderbolts soon left to let the two mares have their own personal time together.
A few minutes after they left, Twilight unlatched herself from Rainbow and wiped away the tears. "Rainbow, this was the best surprise I've ever had in my life. Thank you so much."
Rainbow was happy to see Twilight so emotional in a good way. "Aw, don't mention it, Twi. Now, why don't we pack up and head back home?" Twilight nodded as she finally wiped the last fear tears she had.
Rainbow took off her uniform and they both packed everything up and headed back home. She definitely would remember this for the rest of her life. Going back to the house, Rainbow had one more surprise for her. She wrote an eight stanza poem that was sure to make her lover smile nonstop. The plan was to wait until the sun was setting before giving the poem to Twilight and letting her read it. If everything went according to plan, Twilight would be crying out of true love by the end of it.
Back at Twilight's castle were the three ponies once again. Trixie, Starlight, and Sunset were again in Twilight's room. Sunset came back to Equestria to try again.
"Starlight, Trixie, you two know we can't just know about this and do nothing, right? She could literally kill herself any minute!" Sunset was getting all worked up. She really wanted to have a plan ready right now. She feared the worst was going to happen when it turned Sunday.
"Well, what about if we tell her friends?" Starlight nervously said.
Sunset thought for a moment. "Didn't you say that they already knew?"
"Not the part about Twilight wanting to kill herself or what she put on the calendar. They only know what Rainbow told them, which was about her being stressed and needing advice to calm her down. I don't know if she's seen her calendar yet," Starlight truthfully explained.
Sunset was going to handle this, right here, right now. "Okay, I like that idea. We have no time to lose. We need to get all of her friends here now."
"But Rainbow Dash is with Twilight, spending the day together because of her surprises she planned out. We were told to not disturb. We can only bring the other four," Starlight quickly blurted out.
Sunset wasn't happy about that. Rainbow Dash needed to know this critical information, but she could wait just one more day. Maybe the other four ponies will tell Rainbow.
"Fine, but she's going to have to know about this at some point. We can't hide this information from her. Who knows what could happen. If Twilight all of a sudden does what we all hope she doesn't do, next thing you know will be Rainbow staying in her house crying her eyes out nonstop for the rest of her life."
Starlight and Trixie seemed to get the message. Starlight teleported to where her friends would be and told them to meet at Twilight's room in her castle as quickly as they could.
It was soon a little passed eight when Rainbow would get things started with Twilight for the last surprise of the day. As they were cuddling up together to watch the sunset, Rainbow started with a kiss on her lover's cheek. "Twilight, it's time for your last surprise."
Twilight looked over to Rainbow happily. "When is it?"
"Now," the pegasus replied as she leaned over and pulled out a paper from her drawer which had the poem written on it and handed it over to Twilight. "I made a special something for you to read out loud Twilight. Please consider it something to keep as a reminder of your marefriend loving you as much as she can."
Rainbow could already see tears starting to flow out of Twilight's eyes. Looks like she made her produce tears of joy without even starting to read it.
Twilight looked at the cover of the paper. It was of her with her friends having a good time. She smiled as she opened it and started reading out loud as Rainbow rested her head on Twilight's shoulder and followed along with her reading.
There is a meaning of love,
That is found within the world you're in,
But your one marefriend who gives you a hug,
Can help you see your world spin,
Upon the light of day,
That shines brightly in the sky,
You can always find a way,
To go to where you can see up high,
It may be hard to overcome your fears,
But don't be weak and let it overcome you,
If the ending does draw near,
There will be nothing much you can do,
Only you're closest friends,
Can help you through life,
But if your friendship does end,
It's like getting stabbed by a knife,
The only ponies you need,
Are the one's you most trust,
They will let you be free,
Under the times you want to fuss,
When life in the future comes,
Our hearts beat together,
Almost like two beating drums,
Mine will play for you forever,
Life can sometimes be tough,
But you have to push through it,
The end result might be rough,
But you'll feel better in a bit,
I want you to know something,
You are the mare I can call heartful,
And I am so glad that we became a thing,
Because the mare I love the most in Equestria, is you, Twilight Sparkle.
Having read all of that, Twilight heart felt so warm. It's amazing how words put together can make such a huge impact on a pony. Twilight was expecting something that would make her emotional from Rainbow Dash, but she didn't think that it would be this much. This was on an entirely different level. She couldn't hold her tears back. She didn't even try to.
Rainbow pulled Twilight into a loving embrace with Twilight's face in her chest. They stayed like that for quite sometime while not saying a word. The crying mare just let it all out as Rainbow tried to just be there for her. She knew her poem would mean a lot to Twilight. She knew she would cry as a result to this, but it would definitely be worth it. The beautiful mare deserved more of this kind of thing.
A few minutes passed and they settled down for the night. All of the alicorn's tears were now done and both mares were ready to go to sleep. After taking some more time to eat and clean everything up, they snuggled back into bed. They did talk a little bit before falling asleep. How could you not have a conversation about what just happened after it had happened.
"Rainbow, since when were you so good at writing poems?" Twilight was shocked to know that Rainbow would possess that kind of skill. It was really unexpected for a pony such as Rainbow to know how to do that sort of thing.
"I used to be good at writing poems back in school. It was the one thing I was actually decent at when it came to academics," Rainbow replied with a satisfied grin. "I really just wanted to take my skill and turn it into something that could change something. I think it worked out well."
Twilight just smiled. "I'm definitely going to keep your poem. I will remember it forever. I will remember everything you've done for me this day. I'm so proud to call you my marefriend."
"I'm just glad the marefriend I have is beautiful and smart. I would never give you away for anything, Twi."
After they did a little more talking, it was time to drift off to sleep. Everything today seemed to work out perfectly. It seems that nothing could ruin it. Twilight and Rainbow spent the entire day together. It all started from a picnic, to a Wonderbolt show, to watching the sunset together, and to the poem. Nothing could break this lovely moment of feeling, but perhaps, anything is still possible.
A spark of magic appeared in the middle of Twilight's room as Starlight came back. "Alright, I called our friends over. They should be here soon. So, what's the plan?"
Sunset was a quick pony to respond since she had already planned it out. "We tell them about what Twilight wrote on her calendar. There's no reason she would put those words on her calendar if she's not planning on doing it. Even if we might be wrong and those words might mean something else, I'm not going to take that risk."
As she finished up telling her plan, the four ponies came rushing in. "What's going on? Is there another important meeting happening? Is it about Twilight?" The farm mare nervously asked.
The four pair of eyes landed on Sunset in shock. They haven't seen her ever since she stole Twilight's crown. They did remember that everything was fixed and she got reformed, so they didn't think much of it. "Oh, hi Sunset. I don't think we were expecting you to be here," Fluttershy suddenly said.
"Hello. I know you haven't seen me in a while, but now is not the time to talk about me. It's about Twilight. Starlight has reached to all of you to come in because there is a serious topic that needs to be addressed," Sunset said sternly.
The ponies all looked at each other and were both scared and nervous. Sunset talking this seriously must mean there's only one way to handle this situation, seriously.
"If there are no questions, I would like to start talking," Sunset said in the same tone.
She looked around the room to the other ponies, waiting patiently to see if there was any questions. After a few seconds of silence, she continued.
"I don't know if you ponies have seen or noticed Twilight's calendar yet, but I would like the four of you to take a look at the two things that are written on it."
Sunset levitated over the calendar hanging from the wall and held it up with her magic for the four ponies to see. They all had very similar reactions: eyes wide, faces in horror, and bodies not moving. It looked like they got the message in an instant.
"Do you girls know what these words mean?"
"You don't think Twilight is actually going to go through with it, do you?" Fluttershy asked in a state about to cry. Luckily, Pinkie was right next to her and held her to try to comfort her.
Sunset gave a huge sigh. She didn't know the answer. "We just need to hope for the best. This is something Rainbow Dash needs to know about."
"Then why isn't she here, darling? We all know that today is supposed to be her and Twilight's day to spend together without disturbance, but this is urgent," exclaimed Rarity.
Sunset and Starlight just looked at each other, not knowing what to say. "Well, we could plan on telling her tomorrow," said Starlight.
An sudden idea popped up into Sunset's mind. "What if we wait until around four or five tomorrow morning? They will both be asleep by then and we can wake Rainbow up to have her come here without disturbing Twilight. We will then be able to tell her."
The ponies all looked in amazement. That sounded like it would be a great idea. Trixie was also amazed by this idea and even leaned over to whisper into Starlight's ear. "Wow, Starlight, your friend here is something special." Starlight whispered back. "Yeah, she's great. I knew she would be a great help."
"Well, now that you all know, I think you can go. I'm going to stay here with Trixie and Starlight and talk for a little while longer."
The four good friends all nodded and left with the important information. As soon as they left, Sunset looked over at Starlight. "You think you are able to get Rainbow Dash at around four or five?"
The unicorn smirked. "Of course. I can levitate myself up to where I need to be. I can also cast a spell that allows earth ponies and unicorns to walk on clouds. I think I'll be fine."
For the first time after being here, Sunset let a smile form around her face. Starlight was really useful when it came to things. Trixie, though, wasn't too much of a help. It was nice to have a little extra company, though.
