One Last Mission
Parental Comfort: Chapter 6.
Previous ChapterNext ChapterSunrise thrashed around, whimpering and slightly yelling. Tears flowing down her cheeks. The girl's claws out fully as they aimlessly slashed the air.
The two worried parents began to sense something was wrong with Sunrise, their protective parental instincts telling them to check on her which they did.
They entered the dark room to see their daughter thrashing about, whimpering and crying.
"Sunrise! Sunrise wake up!" Sunset shouted, waking the distraught teen up. Her claws retracting back into her wrist.
"Are ya alright, Sunrise? What's wrong?" James softly asked, placing a gentle hand over his daughter's shoulder, tears trailing down her face and her body sweating lightly.
"I-" She began fearfully. She felt afraid to tell her parents. She didn't want them to think less of her.
"I had a nightmare, it scared me." She admitted softly, looking away in shame.
"Sunrise, darlin', there's no shame in feelin' pain or fear. It's a natural thing ta feel." James lovingly told his daughter, recieving a gentle sob from the distraught girl.
"What was it about?" Sunset lovingly crooned, running a hand through her daughter's hair, trying to ease her back to sleep.
"You both abandoned me, forgot about me, didn't love me." Sunrise sobbed heartbroken, her parents holding her tightly and protectively. It broke their hearts to see their baby girl suffer in such a way.
"Sunrise, look at me darlin' okay?" James began gently. She looked to him, tear trails evident on her face. Her eyes puffy and red.
"Ah can't promise something bad won't ever happen ta us. But if it does, ya have got uncle Mekarm, Grandma Jean, Aunt Laura, Grandma Celestia, Grandpa Discord and so many more people ta be there fer ya." James softly whispered to the girl.
"But ah promise ya, on mah, yer mother's and yer life, ah will never let anyone hurt ya, ya hear? Ah will always be here ta protect ya no matter what. Ah will never let ya suffer alone, ah'm always here fer ya. Because that's mah job as yer dad, ta protect, love and care fer ya. Yer so precious ta me, Sunrise." James softly cooed, gently rubbing her back.
"B-But what if I lose you guys? What if I never get to be hugged or shown any love by you both anymore? Please don't ever leave me behind." Sunrise sobbed, hiccuping slightly.
Sunset comforted her as she rubbed her daughter's back, softly singing a lullaby to her and running a hand through the red and gold locks in an attempt to soothe her back to sleep once more
"I will always be here for you, no matter what. You are my sweet baby girl, and you always will be. I will always love you, no matter what happens." Sunset whispered ever so softly.
Sunrise whimpered fearfully. She felt a lone tear slide down her cheek. She felt her mother brushing it away before recieving a kiss on the forehead and felt her mother rub her cheek with her thumb. She was shushed by her mother's finger on her lips ever so softly.
"Hush now, baby girl. Mom's here now, mom's got you. I love you so, so much, my sweet one. I will always be here to soothe you when you're upset, I'll be here to tuck you in and kiss you goodnight, I will always be here for you. As your mother it's my job to keep you safe, warm, loved and cared for." Sunset crooned lovingly, rocking Sunrise back and forth gently in her lap. The gentle rocking motion easing Sunrise back to sleep. A small smile on the girl's lips.
Sunset tucked her back into bed and made sure she was comfortable and cozy, before kissing her forehead and quietly leaving the room, James doing the same.
The two parents watched her protectively for a few seconds, Sunrise's chest rising and falling normally as she slept peacefully once more, snuggling into the covers to get comfortable. That was enough to chase away the bad dreams tonight.
