A New Life and a New Home.

Seeing that the pony that saved him was injured he took off his black hoodie and wrapped it around the wound. "Thank god it didnt kill him. But why would a pony need armour?" Miles thought to himself.

Miles had very little strength left and was bleeding a lot out of his arm and the wound on his head started bleeding a little as well. Deciding there was no other way he hoisted Shining onto his shoulder he started to slowly walk the way the other ponies went.

"I would have thought a pony would be a lot heavier than this, never mind a pony in armour." He said aloud.

Hours later it was dark and could see the light of a town not too far away.

(Pony P.O.V)

Running as fast as they could the group ran back through the forest making sure that the children were all still there and didnt get lost and with AJ carrying Pinkie. Eventually they made it to the end of the forest and into twilight's house. The children had been dropped off at the school on the way to the library and were safe. "What was that thing princess?" Asked Twilight.

"I don't know, but it saved Pinkie's life. And for that we should be thankful." She replied. "Now, how about we get you to the hospital and get you fixed up?" She added as she teleported herself out of the room along with pinkie.

"What do you think happened to Shining Armour?!" Wailed Cadence. Luna put a hoof on her shoulder to comfort her. "He is strong and smart. He will be in no trouble what so ever. I know this, otherwise Tia would not have picked him."

"You're right." Responded Cadence who seemed to be calming down.

"I hope that creature is ok. It was in terrible pain." Said Fluttershy who seemed a bit upset that the creature would be harmed.

"That...erm...thing looked tough. I bet it'll be ok." Applejack replied trying to comfort Fluttershy.

"Do you have any idea what that thing was?" asked Rarity.

"No! Nothing. With every book i have read and all the stories I have been told, I have never heard of anything like that before." She replied.

Soon after that was said a bright flash appeared and revealed Celestia and Pinkie with some bandages on her legs and was floating in mid-air in a white aura.

"Why are you carrying her, sister?" Asked  Luna.

"She isn't allowed to put any weight on her front legs and we couldn't get a wheelchair until tomorrow."

A few hours went by of telling stories, reading, and having fun to take their minds of what had happened that day until it was time to raise the moon and lower the sun. Celestia and Luna went outside and hovered in midair while white smoke wrapped around Celestia and Black smoke wrapped around Luna until they could not be seen.

Looking in the distance you could see a beautiful sunset and looking the other way you would see the moon come above the horizon.

As the princesses lowered down to the ground they heard some screaming and panicking coming from the forest edge.  The group set off immediately to the source of the panic with pinkie riding on AJ's back.

The group stood at the edge of the forest line and saw a small amount of movement coming from a bush. A second later they saw the creature come into sight. It was covered in blood and cuts and was bleeding profusely. On it's shoulder was the Captain of the royal guard who was also covered in blood..

"NO!" Cadence screamed as tears formed in her eyes.  Celestia and Luna charged their horns ready to attack the creature that had killed Shining Armour.

The creature stumbled closer and closer until it was mere feet away. "H..he is alive, but injured." Said Miles as he fell to his knees. The princesses lowered their horns and was about to speak but Miles had already passed out from the extreme lack of blood.

(Narration/ Both P.O.V's)

Miles slowly opened his eyes and shut them instantly due to blinding light shining in his eyes. "Ah, you're awake. Thats good....I think." Said a caramel pony with dark brown hair.

Miles tried to move his arms and legs but was chained down to the bed. Miles opened his eyes and saw the doctor wearing a lab coat. Miles turned his attention to his arm which was in a bandage before turning his attention to a group of techni-coloured ponies. Some with horns, some with wings, some with neither and some with both. Before he could speak he was hugged by the mane six which he didn't understand why.

"Why did you just hug me?" He asked confused.

"You saved me!" Pinkie exclaimed. Before anything else could be said he was hugged tightly by a pink pony with yellow, pink and purple hair and a heart shaped diamond cutie-mark.

"Thankyouthankyouthankyouthankyou!!!" was all that came out of her mouth as she planted kisses up and down his scarred and bruised face.

"May I ask, what was that for?" Miles said with great confusion. "

You saves my husband from being killed by the wolves. And not just that, you saved us all!" She shouted excitedly at him then proceeded to pull back a curtain to reveal Shining Armour with a bandage over his left eye and top of his head.

"Thank you for saving me, and getting me out of the forest. For all intents and purposes you could have killed me and left me there, or just let me get attacked by the wolves and get away with your own life. But you didn't. And I'm truly thankful for that." Shining said with a weak voice but a strong smile.

"Don't mention it." Miles replied with a smile. "But, why am I chained down?" He added.

"We didnt know if you would be violent or aggressive so we didnt take the chance." Celestia butted in while taking off the chains.

"How do you know I'm not?" Miles replied.

Celestia said without hesitation "Because, if you were going to be, you would have tried to attack when hugged." with a smile.

"Fair enough." Miles chuckled.

Once unchained, Miles tried to get up to his feet but was a bit wobbly. "Easy there sugar-cube." AJ said putting a hoof on him to help keep his balance.

"Thanks." Miles offered his gratitude to AppleJack.

"So..er...how did I get here? And where am I?" Miles asked confused.

Luna stepped in "You are in the hospital. We brought you here after you collapsed."

"Oh, er, thank you. But, may I ask, why did you save me?"

"You willingly put yourself in danger to save us even though you didnt know who we are. And let me tell you something, that's a heroic thing to do." Twilight said with a smile.

"And that means you're a hero!" Pinkie shouted excitedly.

"Thanks but don't call me a hero." Miles said in response.

At that point a big red earth pony walked into the room with the CMC in tow. "Are you the one that saved mah sister and her friends?" He said walking through the door.

"Yeah, I guess I am." Said Miles trying to sound humble. "I guess you never thought an unknown creature would save your sister and her friends, did you?" Miles said with a slight grin.

"Eenope." Big Mac replied.  AppleJack walked over to Big Mac and introduced him and her friends

"This here is my brother, Big Mac, and these are my best friends, Twilight Sparkle, Rarity, Fluttershy, Pinkie pie and Rainbow Dash." She said pointing to the individual ponies mentioned. Fluttershy backed away slowly when mentioned where as Rainbow was up in his face

"Listen here bub! I don't know what you are, but I do know that you're dangerous! And if you try anything, you will have to deal with me!" She threatened in a stern voice.

"Don't threaten me. I don't like it when i get threatened, it makes me angry, and when I get angry, I get violent. Now, if there is something else you want to say, I suggest you say it now and get it out of the way." He responded in an equally threatening tone.

Rainbow backed down and looked away from the creature.

"If, you want to be friends, then fine. I have enough enemies as it is without needing one more." He added in a softer voice.

Everyone was in awe at the change of tones so quickly. "Wow, even when angered you can show some humility and friendliness." Princess Celestia announced.  "Allow me to introduce myself, I am Princess Celestia, this is my sister, Princess Luna, and our niece, Princess Cadence."

Hearing that they were princesses, Miles tried to bow down but was unable as pain shot through him forcing him to sit down on the bed. "Heh, sorry I cant bow." He said glumly.

"Don't worry, we are in your debt for saving our lives. Is there anything we can do to repay you?" Said, Princess Luna.

"Well, actually, there is a couple things I would like, if you wouldn't mind."

"Anything you want." Said Celestia with a warm smile.

"Could I have my stuff back please?"  Celestia levitated the IPod and earphones over to him but kept the knife. "Now you can have this back when we know you better, we don't want ponies getting hurt now, do we?" she said happily.

Miles looked at the Ipod with a solemn look on his face. "What is wrong?" Twilight asked.

"The screen, it's cracked and broken." He replied.

"Not a problem." Twilight said as her horn glowed purple and the screen repaired in front of his eyes.

"How?" was all he could say.

"Magic" was all Twilight said.

"And what else would you like?" Asked Cadence.

"I am really hungry, i haven't had a good meal in days." He said looking at his stomach which seemed to have lost some of the flabbiness but still fairly chunky.

"What would you like?" Asked nurse Red-heart who happened to be passing by.

"Could I have a bacon sandwich please?"

"A what?" She asked with a confused look on her face.

"You know, bacon, it comes from pigs.........oh right, ponies are vegetarian aren't they."

A look of shock was on everybody's  face.  "Y..you....eat meat?" Fluttershy asked just before fainting.

"Is she going to be ok?" Miles asked as she hit the floor.

Everyone in the room backed up slightly at this but didnt run away. Miles could see everyone in the room was worried by this and decided to address the matter. "Yes, I eat meat, I love it and crave it often, but my kind are omnivores, so there is no need to worry."

Sweetie-belle walked forward a few steps and asked "Whats an abnivivore?"  Miles managed to bend over the side of the bed and pick her up.

"NOOO!" everyone screamed in horror until they heard giggling. Looking up, they  saw Miles tickling the young filly.

Miles, faced the young fill "An omnivore is a creature that eats meat, but also eats fruit and veg." He said as he stroked the fillies mane much to her liking.

The group seemed to calm down seeing that he wasn't a danger to Sweetie-belle and  didn't have to rely on meat to survive.

"Well, ok then, would you be ok with some stew? It's made of onion gravy, carrots, turnips and sweet potatoes." Asked nurse Red-heart.

"That sounds heavenly." Miles started drooling without noticing when thinking of his next meal. The group giggled as Miles noticed and wiped his chin with his left arm.

Minutes later nurse Red-Heart returned with a massive pot of stew. "You're the only one to have ever wanted it. There is a gallon of gravy, 10 potatoes, 8 carrots and 5 turnips.

Rarity chuckled, "He will never eat all that, that is enough to feed Big Mac and the rest of the Apple family."

Big Mac looked at Rarity "Eyup" While chuckling slightly.

"You don't mind if I eat it now do you? Where I come from it's considered rude to eat in front of others without permission." He asked the group.

A chorus of "go ahead" and "sure" signaled the ok for him to eat.

Fluttershy woke up and looked at Miles "Thats not meat is it?" She asked in a high pitch voice.

"Don't worry none, Flutters.  He's an omnivore and that is meatless strew." AJ said.

"So, Rarity and Mac, you two don't think I can eat all this?"  "Nope" they both replied.

Cadence moved over to shining who was munching on a salad sandwich and rested on the bed next to him.

Luna spoke to Celestia, "Sister, I bet you ten bits that he can't eat it all."

"You're on." Celestia, replied with a smile

"Hey, let me get some of that action." Rainbow said to the princesses.

"So, let me get this straight, you lot are making bets on if I can eat this or not. What do I get if i eat it all. I don't really have anything to bet, I have no money." Miles said with a blank expression.

"Don't worry about that." Shining said. We will let you off this once. And, if you you win the bet then, you get 110 bits. 10 bits from each of us.

"Whats a bit?" Miles asked confused

"Bits are our currency here." Rainbow added.

"Oh. You're on"

Using a fork to get through all the solid stuff he shoveled it in and barely stopped for a breath. Three minutes later half the solid food had gone and Miles was still going strong. "Ah, don't think even ah could eat all that." Big Mac said astonished.

Five minutes later the solid bits were gone and Miles looked like he could burst. "I don't know how anything could eat that much and not be sick." Exclaimed the doctor with his jaw nearly hitting the floor.

After a burp just like this Miles lifted up the pot and started gulping it down. Mouthful after mouthful of gravy and not a drop getting onto his clothes.

"Holy moley!" Pinkie shouted. "This is crazy even by my standards!" She added.

Celestia looked at Luna with a wide grin "You were saying..." She said in a victorious tone.

"It hasn't eaten it all yet, it could still fail." Luna replied with a small smile.

Drinking more and more he reached the bottom of the pot with just one mouthful left.

Feeling sick and stomach hurting he was ready to call it quits until Celestia came over and gave a quick kiss on his cheek and a few words of encouragement. With new motivation he forced himself to drink the last mouthful.

The room was alive with cheers and congratulations.  Out of nowhere a stack of gold coins appeared next to him. In the heat of the moment Celestia gave him a proper kiss on the cheek much to the shock of Miles.

The rest of the afternoon was  spent laughing and Miles using his magic fingers stroking the heads of the CMC much to their approval. A while later nurse Red-heart  informed everyone that Miles and Shining needed their rest and was time for visitors to go.

The next hour was spent with Miles and Shining talking about life and such. And just general conversation. "So, how did you and Cadence meet?" Miles asked.

"Well, Cadence use to foal-sit Twilight while our parents were at work and I was at the academy. Eventually we hit it off and started dating." He said with a smile.

"Well, I'm getting kind of tired. Night." Miles said to Shining while turning his lamp off.

*yawn* "Yeah, me too. Night."
