A New Life and a New Home.
The truth
Previous ChapterNext ChapterThe next morning Miles awoke from a hellish night of bad dreams and nightmares. As the sun was starting to rise he decided to listen to some music. Looking over at Shining who was snoring away he decided to use his earphones. Looking through his playlist he found one of his favorite songs to sing along to: Time to say goodbye He closed his eyes and sang softly,
When I am alone I sit and dream
And when I dream the words are missing
Yes I know that in a room so full of light
That all the light is missing
But I don't see you with me, with me
Close up the windows, bring the sun to my room
Through the door you've opened
Close inside of me the light you see
that you met in the darkness
Time to say goodbye
Horizons are never far
Would I have to find them alone
without true light of my own with you
I will go on ships over seas
that I now know
No, they don't exist anymore
It's time to say goodbye
When you were so far away
I sit alone and dream of the horizon
Then I know that you are here with me, with me
Building bridges over land and sea
Shine a blinding light for you and me
To see, for us to be
Time to say goodbye
Horizons are never far
Would I have to find them alone
without true light of my own with you
I will go on ships over seas
that I now know
No, they don't exist anymore
It's time to say goodbye
so with you I will go
on ships over seas
that I now know
No, they don't exist anymore
It's time to say goodbye
so with you I will go...
I love you
After the song ended he paused the music and looked around in the room only to see Shining sat up in his bed with his jaw dropping down. Miles was about to apologize for waking him when he heard clapping from behind. Turning round he saw the three princesses and the rest of the group at the end of his bed applauding him. He looked to the door where he heard more clapping and saw a group of doctors, nurses and patients all in awe at what had just been seen and applauding him.
"I didn't disturb anyone did I?" Miles asked nervously.
One of the doctors replied. "No, it was time to wake the patients up and that was a wonderful way to do so. It was no
problem at all."
"Well, I'm not that good. I'm ok but that's it." Miles tried to be modest.
"What are you talking about?! You have an amazing voice and should be proud of it." Luna exclaimed as she walked up beside him. "You should embrace this gift." She added.
"I don't like being the center of attention." Was all Miles said.
"Well, we will have to fix that then, won't we." Celestia chimed in.
As the crowed died down the doctor walked in and announced that Shining and Miles could go home today.
"Thats great." Shining called out, while Miles just looked saddened by the news.
"Whats wrong?" Fluttershy asked.
"I don't have a home, or a place to go, and I can't go back to my old home, even if it was possible."
Cadence looked up and said "What are you going to do? Where are you going to go?"
"I found a tree in the forest that had moss on the floor. That was kind of comfy." Miles said cheering up a little.
Shining Armour got on his hooves but had to lean on Cadence for support and Miles got on his feet with little struggle.
"Well, I guess I'll see you round then." Miles said with a small grin and headed off down the corridor. As Miles left the hospital he came across a huge crowd all wanting to see the creature.
"That's the thing that saved those foals and the princesses." A voice called out from in the crowd.
Miles tried to run but was blocked off by ponies wanting to stare at him or talk to him. Looking around he saw a drain pipe
leading up the side of the building. 'Let's hope this is strong enough to support me.' He thought to himself.
Managing to get to the pipe he slowly started climbing and eventually reached the top. "Right.........where now?" Miles said aloud. Out of the corner of his eye he saw a cable go from the roof to a nearby building. Running towards it he jumped and mid-jump he hear the doctor shout
"No! Thats the power cable!"
As Miles grabbed the cable all the near by ponies could hear *bzzzztbzzzztbzzzt* coming from Miles and the cable.
Seconds later all that ponies could see was the creature falling from a 30ft high cable and land with a large thud.
*The next day*
"Errrrg. Ah crap. Again?" Miles said as he awoke to find he was in a bed, but not a hospital bed.
"Well good morning." A soft sweet voice came from the door as Fluttershy walked through it. "I hope you are alright. I made some stew for you. Don't worry, there isn't a bet this time so take your time." She said with a smile that could end all wars.
After the stew Miles was up on his feet and headed to the window to get a better look as he saw a chariot land outside . Fluttershy pulled out a slip of paper that read:
'Dear, Hero.
My sister and I would be most pleased if you could stop by the castle today. We will send a chariot to pick you up.
Yours faithfully, Princess Celestia.'
"This is for you." Fluttershy said giving Miles the piece of paper.
Miles read the note and went downstairs to the chariot. As he got in, Fluttershy flew up to him and hugged him.
"Be careful, you seem to get hurt whenever you are left on your own." She said with a serious look.
"I will be careful, I promise." Miles returned the hug and left for Canterlot on the chariot.
Fluttershy waved as the chariot flew up and out of sight. After the chariot was gone she headed into town to meet Twilight and the gang.

"Hey girls." Fluttershy said as she joined the group who were all carrying saddle bags. Pinkie Pie was still in a wheel chair and still had the bandages on her forelegs.
"How are your legs, Pinkie?" Fluttershy asked.
"They hurt a lot. But I can't complain, it could have been worse if it wasn't for him....." She said as she drifted into a day dream thinking of Miles.
"Hello?" Dash said waving her hoof in front of Pinkie's face.
"OH, er, sorry. I was just thinking of how he saved my life." Pinkie said with a nervous grin.
"Alright, is the stuff ready everypony?" Asked Twilight with a happy tune.
A collective "Yep" signaled it was time to move on.

(Miles' P.O.V)
"Wow! This is amazing!" Miles shouted as he was flying through the air. He stood up tall letting the wind flow through his hair.
The royal chariot flyers started their descent once Canterlot Castle was in view. Princess Celestia was waiting at the landing strip along with Princess Cadence and Shining Armour. As the chariot touched the ground it shook with the force of landing sending Miles tripping off of the back of it.
"Dammit." Was all he said as he laid on his back staring at the sky. Moments later still staring at the sky Celestia, Cadence and Shining Armour in full armor came into view looking down at him.
"Morning." Miles said with a blank expression. Shining levitated him in the air and back onto his feet. "That feels weird as hell." Miles said brushing the dirt off of him. He bowed down to the three ponies in front of him and then turned to the royal chariot flyers and thanked them.
"You don't have to thank them you know. It's just their job." Celestia said to Miles.
"Well yes but it is rude and impolite to not thank someone for doing something for you. And I'm not keen on rudeness." Miles told the white princess in a know-it-all tone.
"I never thought of it like that before...." The princess said with a sorry tone.
"Anyway..... it is time for our talk." Cadence said trying to change the subject.
"Yeah, sure." Miles replied happily.
Walking through a long hallway they eventually came to a large hall with two thrones. Without warning two guards ambushed Miles and chained his arms. "HEY! WHAT THE FUCK IS GOING ON!" Miles shouted with rage.
"Sorry but we needed to make sure you wouldn't try anything. For all we know you could have an ulterior motive for saving us. But don't worry, it's just a precaution." Celestia said.
"Fine, but if I was going to do anything, don't you think I would have done it by now? And do you think I would have come here willingly to this so called talk." Miles replied calming down.
"You have a point but I would rather be safe than sorry." She said in her usual tone of voice.
Princess Luna walked into the room and took a seat on one of the thrones as the white alicorn took the other one. Princess Cadence and Shining Armour walked over to the thrones and stood straight as Celestia began to talk.
"First off, I would like to welcome you to Equestria. A land of peace and harmony. And that is why I brought you here today. To make sure you are not a threat to my subjects or any creature in my lands."
Luna spoke after, "First, how did you get here?" She asked in a formal tone.
"I don't really know. I ran away from home for reasons I would rather not discuss and woke up in a forest. Eventually I saw you and the other ponies against the wolves and that's it. From there on you know the rest if Shining has informed you of what happened." He responded with an emotionless voice.
"Very well. Secondly, why did you save us from those beasts?" She asked in the same tone.
"Well, once I figured out I wasn't dreaming or hallucinating, I realized that you were all real and were in need of help. Even if it meant putting my life at risk. I am always ready to help those in need." Miles said in a serious tone.
"You seem friendly and safe but we need to be certain." Luna said with a friendlier tone of voice yet still serious.
"Shoot." Miles said in a more relaxed tone.
"W..what?" The princess stuttered.
"Go ahead." Miles replied nonchalantly.
"Do you feel emotions? You are an intelligent creature, so do you base actions off of what you feel? Or do you work off of logic?" Luna asked inquisitively.
As Miles was about to answer the doors of the hall swung open and revealed the mane six along with a guard.
"Ever so sorry to interrupt your majesty, but these ponies say they know you." The guard said with no facial expression whatsoever.
"Yes, these ponies are welcome any time." Celestia said with a smile as the guard gave a salute to Shining and left the room.
The mane six took a seat in the corner of the room smiling sheepishly for interrupting what was going on.
"Right, where were we? Ah yes, do you feel emotions?" Luna asked once again.
Miles looked at the princesses and sighed "Yes, I do feel emotions, I feel anger, sadness, hatred, sorrow and guilt. And I admit at times my emotions do get the best of me but I try to keep them to myself."
Cadence just looked at Miles with shock.
"Is everything ok dear?" Shining asked but did not get an answer.
"Do you not feel love? Don't you know the happiness that it brings." She asked as she stared at the him.
"No." Was the only word that left his mouth. Cadence was thrown by this answer, she wasn't expecting anything like this.
"But why not?" She asked in a caring tone.
Looking up at the other princesses and the mane six he saw they were all shocked. Even Shining was to some degree.
"I just don't. And I would rather not explain why I don't." Miles said without showing any form of emotion.
"Excuse me, what is your name by the way so that we may address you properly?" Celestia asked.
"Miles." Was all he said.
"Right, Miles, we need to know why you don't feel love and we need to know what was your background on your world was like." Celestia said as she walked over to Miles and lowered a hoof onto his shoulder to show some form of comfort.
"Fine!" Miles said annoyed. "What I say here never leaves this room. Promise?" Miles asked extremely annoyed.
"If you wish." Cadence said intrigued to know about the loveless creature's past.
"When I was a little boy, seven years old to be exact, I was with my mother and father walking home from the hospital. We were at the hospital check if the baby my mother was pregnant with was a girl or a boy. Before it was even born I loved that baby more than anything, more than life itself. When on the way home we were stopped by a man in a mask and he had a knife. He threatened that he would kill them if they didn't hand over the money. Without hesitation I ran at the man that was more than twice my size in order to protect my unborn baby sister. The man just kicked me into a wall and knocked me out." Miles could see tears in everyone's eyes as they knew what was coming.
He continued "When I awoke I was in hospital and all they told me was that they were sorry they couldn't save my parents. There were no condolences, there was nothing. Later on that day I was in hysterics. I cried and cried for days on end. Eventually I calmed down a little and stopped crying but I was still traumatized by what had happened. I lived in an orphanage for a while but it was torture. The other children made fun of me for being fatter than the rest of them and the adults did nothing to stop it." Miles had to wipe away a tear.
"Eventually I was adopted by two people who I thought were nice. In my new home I settled in slowly but the peace didn't last." Miles stopped as he heard sobbing from everyone in the room. Even the princesses were struggling to keep a straight face. He went on.
"My foster parents blamed me for all their problems. They shouted at me and grounded me for no reason. Eventually they started hitting and kicking me. This went on for weeks and weeks until I ran away. After a few nights on the streets scavenging for food in bins and on the floor I was found by some people from child services. An organisation for helping abused kids. They were nice to me for a while but I had to move in with another foster family. Things were alright with this new family, they loved me and showed kindness They even bought me a puppy. But one night my foster father got drunk and got violent. He attacked me and my foster mother and kicked me out of the house." Miles was struggling to hold back more tears.
"I eventually moved into another orphanage where me and Buster, my dog, lived for a long time. It wasn't the best life, but it was ok. On my 15th birthday the orphanage bought me an IPod, a music and video playing device. It was one of the best birthdays ever. I didn't go to school much, I picked up what I know from books. But when I did the teachers hated me and I was bullied relentlessly. The adults did what they were legally told to do but it wasn't much. One day, I was adopted again, I learned my lesson and kept my distance emotionally and to some degree physically. They gave me what I needed but very few luxuries while they were living life to the fullest. They went on holidays and to parties but left me on my own. The only thing I got was a bit of money to buy food for the dog and a few songs on my iPod. It was ok for a year or so but once again, it went to shit. Both of my foster parents just snapped for no reason. They went mental and killed Buster and attacked me. That night....I...I-" Miles broke down into tears and cradling on the floor in the fetal position rocking back and forth. Tears were flowing from his face but he didn't care.
Celestia sat down next to Miles and wrapped a wing around him and pulled him into a hug. "It's ok, you don't need to say anymore." She said in a soothing tone while taking off the chains from Miles' wrists.
"No, I need to get this off of my chest." He said through his tears. Celestia only nodded.
"That night I snuck out of the house and went to a nearby cliff that was near my coastal home. The cliff had a rocky bottom and........and........I........ took the coward's way out."
Miles instantly broke down into tears again. The group of ponies only stared at him with sorrow and sympathy in their hearts.
Celestia, hugged him tightly, "It's ok. You are safe now and you have friends who love and care for you dearly."
Miles looked up at the tearful princess and spoke "You all think of me as a friend?"
"Of course we do Miles." Twilight walked next to him and put a hoof on his shoulder.
"Thank you." Was all Miles said to them.
Celestia was about to get up but was pulled back down and saw Miles hugging her tightly, "C..c..can we just stay here for a little while? Please?"
