Tex on the farm
AppleJack got a spare room ready, she was freaking out as her family watched.
"Calm down Applejack.'' Said Applebloom breaking the silence.
"Calm down? We got a guest coming and I still got things to get ready." Said Applejack.
"The room is fine Applejack." Said Grand pare. "Trust me, I talked to Burnt Oak and he said that Tex would be fine with a normal room.''
"But I really want to make sure he comfy." Said Applejack all a fluster as she was still not used to the whole love thing.
"Applejack calm down." Said Grand pare. "Things will be fine.''
"OK grand pare, but just got to make sure that the bed is fine tho." Said Applejack still going overboard.
"Heaven help us." Said Grand pare facehooving.
"Yep." Said Big mac.
Later that evening, Tex arrived he did not have much as he was shown to the room later dropping a few bits into Applejack's hoof to "to pay for room and board," Tex then went into the bedroom, and closed the door, saying he was tired from the walk after thanking Applejack and did not speak another word to anypony. Later at night. Applejack could not sleep a wink. Just a bit away was a stallion she had just met and for the first time was attracted to and wondered how to deal with all this.
Applejack got up to get a drink of water, when she went by the room Tex was in she could swear she heard him talking to some pony but could just barely hear them.
"Yes I will try to take things easy, but I will feel better when I am home and my parents are there as well."
Applejack knew she should not listen but could not help it.
"I know it's just being here while the others are waiting for the next fight. I just feel uneasy." Said Tex.
"What he mean by that?" Thought Applejack. "Was Burnt Oak going somewhere?" She was brought out of her thoughts by movement from inside and moved as fast and silent as she could to avoid getting caught as Tex looked out the door to see if any pony was there before going back in.
The next day Applejack woke up to see she overslept a bit and hurried down to find Tex and her Family already started working.
"Hey Applejack, sleep well?" Asked Applebloom
"Yes, but why did no pony wake me up?" Asked Applejack.
"You looked so peaceful we could not wake you." Said Sugarbell, and don't worry Tex was able to help with your share of the work.''
Applejack saw Tex helping out with some apples and he seem to be doing a good job.
"Go get 'em Applejack." Joked Suger belle as she playfully nudged Applejack.
"Hahaha very funny." Said Applejack as she walked up to him.
"Hey Applejack glad you up." Said Tex with a smile.
"Thanks, sorry I overslept, but thanks for helping out with things." Said Applejack with a nervous laugh.
"you sure your feeling OK?" Asked Tex with a raised eyebrow. "You look a little red"
"OK sure, why wouldn't I be?" Asked Applejack all a stutter trying to find the words.
As that went on her family watched facehooving themselves.
"This is not going well." Said Applebloom.
"Nope." Said Big mac.
"Heaven help me if I ever get great-grandkids from her." Said Granny Smith.
"Come on it's not that bad." Said Sugar Belle as they saw Applejack try and fail to find the right words over and over and Tex being left confused. Then saw Applejack accidentally knock over a cart of apples that Tex got ready.
"OK yeah, it's that bad." Said Sugar belle.
"Yep." Said, Big Mac.
''Heaven give us strength.'' Said Grand pair.
''Yep.'' Said Big mac.
They saw Tex help her up as she giggled all nervously as he helped her put the barrels back up and the apples back.
Took a while but managed to get everything done.
''Thanks for the help Tex.'' Said Applebloom.
''You're welcome.'' Said Tex.
''You sure did a good job for a pony who says they are not good at this.'' Said Sugar belle
"Yeah are you sure you're not a farm pony?" Asked Applebloom.
''No, I just grew up a ranch kid on my grandma and grandpa's land.'' Said Tex.
''That would explain how you are were so buff and knew your way around this kind of thing.'' Said Grand pair.
''Sounds like a lot of fun.'' Said Applebloom.
Tex said nothing he just got a serious look.
(Flashback)
"Orphan, orphan, Tex is an orphan." Said a group of young ponies as Tex helped out his grandma and grandpa.
''I heard his mom showed up and dumped him with her parents.'' Said one fowl.
''Must have wanted a girl.'' Said another fowl.
''Or just did not want kids at all.'' said another fowl.
''They don't even know who his dad is.'' Said Another fowl.
''He's probably dead.''
(Flashback end)
Tex fought the urge to cry. ''I'm gonna put these away.'' Said Tex as he did just that.
''Tex?''' Asked Applejack.
''Leave him be Applejack.'' Said Grand pair.
''But he looks so sad.'' Said Applebloom.
''A stallion's past is his own business.'' Said Grand pair.
Before anything else could be said Burnt oak showed up.
''Hey Burnt Oak, you here to see Tex?'' Asked Applebloom.
''Yeah, where he at?" Asked Burnt oak as they pointed to where.
''Thanks.'' Said Burnt oak as he went to check on Tex.
Burnt oak found Tex finishing up when he saw him.
''Oh hey did.'' Said Tex.
''You OK son?" Asked Burnt oak.
''Yeah just thinking about things.'' Said Tex.
''Tex, Tex look at me.'' Said Burnt oak as he got Tex to look at him.
''I'm your father you know you can tell me if something is bothering you.'' Said Burnt oak.
''Just some things reminded me of my childhood growing up without you and mom due to what Nightshade did.'' Said Burnt oak.
''And it opened up some old wounds?" Asked Burnt oak with an understanding smile as Tex nodded.
''I'm sorry I was not there for you Tex, but I'm here now. You feel down you can talk to me.'' Said Burnt oak.
"I know dad, and I don't blame you or mom I blame Nightshade." Said Tex.
''It means a lot to hear you say that.'' Said Burnt oak. ''And believe me, if I could I would give anything to undo all that was done.''
''I know Dad.'' Said Tex as they heard an explosion and saw several bits of smoke come from ponyville.
''That does not sound good.''' Said Tex as he went to go check.
''Tex where are you going?" Asked Applejack.
''To check things out all of you stay here.'' Said Tex as he headed for Ponnyville.

It was another day in ponyville. The sun shining bright. A gentle breeze wafted through a vast, lush orchard, bringing along with it a fragrant, sweet, and distinct scent. A few small songbirds fluttered and twittered merrily from above as Applejack trotted along the road pulling a cart. Applejack been away a while and was happy to get back to work. Before she knew it, her ears picked up all the hustle and bustle of Ponyville. A few ponies lifted their hooves and waved to Applejack, with her waving back Soon enough, she was in the market and trotting to her usual spot. It wasn't very busy yet, a few early birds browsing the various booths. Applejack began to set up the baskets and signs. As she was arranging the setup she found herself sort of wishing Rarity was here to add just a little bit of flair. She might just have to ask her when she got back into town. After all the crazy it was nice to have a peaceful day for once.
Suddenly, her ear flicked again as she picked up on a familiar voice. This time, however, there was another one accompanying it. Turning away from her cart, Applejack glanced across the way towards the firewood booth, where burnt Oak stood, adjusting a bundle of birch kindling upon his table. Beside him stood another stallion. This fellow, however, was slightly taller and a light green earth pony with blue eyes orange hair, and tail, a bit bigger and taller than big mac, he wore a grey cowboy hat. His cutie mark was Two green cacti and two pink sage brushes on a dark blue shield. And a dark blue Bandanna around his neck.
Blinking in surprise, feeling a rush of warmth invade her cheeks. She started to notice those rather lovely muscles, and that dusty, messy mane. The stoic green pony turned slightly and muttered something to the older stallion, whose mustache curled into a smile. He said something in return, then gestured towards the Applejack. Much to her chagrin, she watched as the two began to make their way towards her cart, but she put on her most friendly smile.
"Well, howdy Burnt Oak! Its ah' beautiful day out, that's for sure! How's everythin' going?" Applejack said, hoping beyond all hope that nopony noticed the blush in her cheeks. Burnt Oak wore his usual gentle smile. The stallion next to him gave a similar one. And when Applejack saw it she felt like she was walking on air.
"Ah, all is goin' just fine. But it sure has been busy since Tex here got back into town," Oak replied cheerfully, lifting a hoof and patting the other stallion's shoulder. "I'd like you to meet Tex, my son."
"SON? I DIDN'T KNOW YOU HAD A SON." Said Applejack. She was totally shocked, then again she did not know a lot about Burnt Oaks family life.
"Yeah kind of a long story." Said Burnt Oak. "He has been helping me out a bit."
"Always glad to lend some aid pop." Said Tex which Burnt Oak smiled for someone reason? mainly at the pop part.
"So, You new here?" Asked Applejack.
"Yeah, I'm visiting my dad for a bit." Said Tex with a smile.
Applejack felt her heart skip several beats and herself get weak in the knees. And she did not know why.
"Well nice meeting ya'll but I kind of need to get going." Said a nervous Applejack.
"That's ok so do we." Said Burnt Oak.
"Nice meeting you." Said Tex as they left, so did Applejack who felt like she was going to faint.
"JUST WHY AM I FEELING LIKE?." Wondered Applejack. She did not know what was going on? but she knew she had to get home fast. But with each step, her thoughts went back to Tex each time.
Later
Applejack was at home with her family. Which included Big mac his wife sugar belle, Applebloom, Granny Smith, and Grand pair. They were eating save for Applejack who was just poking her food.
"Applejack what's wrong?" Asked grand pair.
"Sorry just somethings on my mind." Said Applejack.
"Like what?'' Asked Applebloom.
"Well I ran into Burnt Oak today and there was this stallion helping him."
"You mean Tex?" Asked Grand pair as Applejack looked at him.
"You know him?" Asked Applejack.
"Ran into him a few times as he was helping his father Burnt Oak." Said Grand pair.
"Burnt Oak has a son?" Asked Applebloom shocked as were the others.
"You mean none of you knew?" Asked Grand pair as they shook their heads.
"We don't know a whole lot about Burnt Oak." Said Applejack.
"Nope." Said Big mac.
"What is Tex Like?" Asked sugar belle wanting to know.
"A lot like his dad, a real nice boy, he even helped me with a few things." Said Grand pair with a smile. "He comes by every now and then to help his dad out."
"Sounds like his dad alright." Said Granny smith.
"Yep." Said Big mac.
"But what's that got to do with why you looking so down?" Asked Granny Smith.
"I don't know." Said Applejack. "Ever since I first saw him I have been feeling strange."
"Strange how?" Asked Grand pair.
Applejack took a breath as she began. "Ma heart keeps pounding like crazy, I can't breathe my legs start to shake and I feel lighter than air even just by thinking about him."
Applejack then saw the shocked looks on Granny Smith, Grand pair, sugar belle , and Big mac.
"I don't believe it, it finally happened." Said Granny Smith.
"Yep." Said Big mac.
"Was afraid I'd die before it did." Said Grand pair.
"This is wonderful." Said sugar belle.
"What is everypony so happy for?" Asked Applebloom.
"Yeah what happened? What are y'all going on about?" Asked Applejack not understanding what they meant.
"You really can't tell?" Asked sugar belle as Applejack shook her head.
"AppleJack you are in love.'' Said sugar belle with a smile as Applejack was left speechless.

Applejack was recovering from what she was just told.
"In love? ME? No way." Said Applejack.
"But you are." Said Suger Bell I can tell.
"But I can't be in love." Said Applejack.
"Why not?" Asked Grand Pear.
"I just, I don't know I've never been in love.'' Said Applejack.
Granny Smith and Grand pear both sighed.
"Applejack, take it from 2 old-timers. When you feel love you need to go after it." Said Grany Smith.
"But what if he doesn't feel the same? Or is seeing somepony else?" Asked Applejack.
"Unless you try and ask you will never know." Said Gran pear. "And the longer you wait the sooner and or more likely some other girl will come and catch his eye."
"Come on Applejack at least try." Said Applebloom.
"OK, I will try next time I see him." Said Applejack as they all cheered.
The next day.
Applejack was in town again, her family was watching in secret as Applejack approached Burnt oak's stand. She saw the old pony finishing up some work. He saw her and smiled.
"Hey Applejack, what brings you here?" Asked Burnt Oak.
"Oh just stuff, how's things?" Asked Applejack.
Her family facepalmed or in their case hooved themselves.
"I don't see Tex what's he doing?" Asked Applejack unable to think of anything else.
"Oh he had to head home for a bit, but he will be back later." Said Burnt Oak. "Your welcome to stick around till then."
"I reckon I will." Said Applejack. "Hey if y'all don't mind me asking? Who is Tex's mom?"
"Her name is cotton candy." Said Burnt oak with a smile. "She was the most beautiful mare I ever laid my eyes on. She was as sweet as real cotton candy and great making it." He brought out a picture of himself as a younger pony with a unicorn mare with a light pink coat, white mane and tail, and purple eyes. Her cutie mark was a few bits of cotton candy.
"She's pretty, but where is she?" Asked Applejack.
"Visiting her parents, I hope she can come back soon would love for you to meet her." Said Burnt Oak.
"I'm sure you will soon." Said Burnt Oak as he went back to work. Applejack offered to help for a bit as she waited.
She stacked up a few piles of lumber a bit to high before a pile almost fell on her only for it to stop she looked to see Tex holding it up.
"Need to be careful not to stack these to high." Said Tex with a smile as he made the pile smaller.
"Thanks y'all a life saver." Said Applejack a little flustered.
Her family face hooved again.
"Hey son glad you made it back." Said Burnt Oak.
''Thanks dad.'' Said Tex as he hugged his father.
"Thanks for helping my dad out." Said Tex to Applejack.
"No prob I'm Applejack, tho you already know that." Said Applejack trying to find her words.
"Yeah from when we met the first time." Said Tex with a smile and raised eyebrow.
Applejack just gave a embarrassed giggle.
Her family kept watching
"While not perfect, at least it is not to bad." Said Sugar Belle.
"Yup." Said Big mac.
"Still so far so good." Said Applebloom.
"So long as she doesn't goof it up." Said Granny smith as they saw Applejack trip over her own hooves as her family sighed as Tex helped her up.
"Well, at least they talking." Said Grand pear.
"But I think some help is needed." Said Suger belle as they agreed and went up to them.
Applejack saw her family.
"Hey, what are y'all doing here?" Asked Applejack.
"Picking up some things." Said Granny smith "you know for the big harvest coming.''
"Oh yeah, the harvest. Ah forgot." Said Applejack as Burnt Oak came up.
"How're things going?" Asked Burnt oak.
"Just reminding Applejack of the harvest coming." Said Applebloom.
"Wish I could help, but I'm not as fit as I used to be." Said Burnt Oak.
"Funny you should mention help." Said Suger Belle.
"We were hoping your son could lend some aid?" Asked Granny Smith.
"I can ask, but I can guaranty anything." Said Burnt Oak. "I think he heading off for a bit to help some friends of his."
"Can't you try?" Asked Applebloom. Burnt Oak sighed. "OK, WHats the real reason you want his help?" Asked Burnt Oak with a raised eyebrow and serious look.
"Well OK here's the truth." Began Granny smith. "We can tell Applejack likes your boy, and we thought if we had him helping with the harvest and spend time with Applejack."
"Him and her might start dating." Said Applebloom.
"Yup." Said Big mac.
"So you are trying to play matchmaker?" Asked Burnt Oak as they all nodded as Burnt Oak sighed. "Look I will see what I can do, I can not guarantee anything but I will try." Said Burnt Oak as the apples and grand pear accepted it.
Burnt Oak went up to Tex as he finished with the work.
''All done dad, anything else you need help with?" Asked Tex.
"Not really, but you know Applejack and her family could use a bit of help on their farm, they got a big harvest coming and you would be a big help." Said Burnt Oak.
"I don't mind helping, but I am not cut out for farm life dad." Said Tex. "I don't think I'd be any good or help with them. Plus we talked i have things I need to do. I promised my friends that I'd help with some things. I also promised grandma and grandma I'd come to visit I have not visited them in over a month and I said I would."
"I know and I am proud of how serious you take keeping promises." Said Burnt Oak as he hugged his son. "But if you have time could you pop by to see the harvest is a bit over a week away."
"OK, Dad if I have time I will try to stop by and see if I can help them I promise." Said Tex.
"That's my boy." Said Burnt Oak.
"I have to go now, dad. See you later." Said Tex as he left just as he said goodbye to Applejack.
Burnt Oak looked a the apples with a smile as they did the same.

Also I am also doing a fanfic on fanfiction net with this character and the two are linked so you might have to read the other. Tho it is only a few chapters now there are future chapters with Tex and his dad coming.
