My Little Pony: The Prince of Friendship

That night, as most everyone rested up from the events of the day, Shining Armor was suddenly approached during his final check-up by Flash Sentry.

"Corporal? What are you doing here?" Shining Armor asked.

"Captain...I would like a word with you once your done with your patrol. The usual spot?" Flash Sentry asked.

"Of course Flash. And you don't have to keep calling me Captain." Shining Armor said. "We are good friends after all." He said.

"I know Shining Amor sir; believe me I know. That's what makes what I have to talk to you about so important." Flash Sentry said.

"Interesting...I'll see you then." Shining Armor said.

A bit later, Shining Armor met with Flash Sentry at a garden within the Crystal Palace.

"So Flash...what is it that's so important that you could not wait until morning?" Shining Amor asked.

"Considering your her brother, I thought you should know: Your sister Twilight Sparkle intends to ask the other princesses for some spare guards to form their own royal guards." Flash Sentry said. "She told me herself before bedtime. Why, I don't know. But I don't care. All I know is that you know that Starlight Glimmer pony she is teaching the ways of friendship? Well Twilight had to get her to stop being evil after encountering the mare at her own castle. To make sure that doesn't happen again, that is why your sister is going to be asking for guards from the other princesses." He explained.

"I see. Thank you for notifying me." Shining Armor said.

"That's only related to the reason why I wanted to talk with you...sir..." Flash Sentry said.

"What are you getting at here?" Shining Armor said.

"Sir...with your blessing and permission...I would like to join her guard personally as her newest captain." Flash Sentry said. That got a reaction out of Shining Armor.

"Is this a joke? She's my sister!" Shining Armor shouted.

"That's why I'm asking you personally! Whoever gets assigned to be her captain has a high chance of becoming close with her. And that's why I want you to to stop and think: Would you rather your sister get with someone you know you can trust, or with some complete stranger?" Flash Sentry asked.

Shining Armor opened his mouth to retort but paused. Suddenly the hypothetical scenario where at his sister's wedding, because he simply could not trust the groom who was a pony he didn't know, he was completely ousted by his sister and his parents all because he couldn't trust the pony his sister wanted to marry. And unlike at his wedding, knowing what they all know now about changelings, Twilight would take extra precautions just to make sure Chrysalis could not try to sabotage another royal wedding. Thus there would be no real groom to save, or real twilight to save; he would lose his L.S.B.F.F. all because he couldn't trust some random stallion.

But then another hypothetical scenario entered his head where because his sister was marrying Flash Sentry; a person Shining Armor trusted like a brother; he would have no cause for worry and be perfectly fine with the union. When it came right down to it, it was win-win scenario on that front.

Tired of the silence, Flash Sentry spoke up. "Listen, because your her brother I wanted your permission and blessing, but I'm going with her to ponyville regardless if you say yes or not. I care for your sister, and I will admit, she has my interest. And I promise you, I won't let any harm come to her from me or anyone else if I can help it." Flash Sentry said.

"I know you won't. You raise a very valid argument Flash. You have my permission and my blessing. But under no circumstances are you to ever reveal that it was me who signed off on this. I want you to play it off like it was Candence's idea." Shining Armor said.

"That's not hard to do actually; considering Candence would probably do that anyways. In fact, she'll probably think it was Candence's idea anyways regardless of what I say." Flash Sentry said. That actually got Shining Armor to laugh.

"I just hope your into book reading, because my sister..." Shining Armor didn't get a chance to finish.

"BOOKS?! WHERE?!" Flash Sentry exclaimed, looking around all excited like.

"...I don't think we're going to have any problems here..." Shining Armor said, sweatdropping. Great...he's totally into reading books just like Twily is. As if he couldn't have been a more fitting match for my sister already. Shining Armor thought to himself.
