Pinkie Pie Buys A New Mirror
I have broken/bought a mirror!
Load Full StoryNext ChapterA salespony was selling mirrors at his local sales shop. There was one more mirror left but it had looked like nopony has wanted it since there wasn't a crowd, thus, within a sigh of exasperation, he moved the mirror inside his shop until a pink pony trotted around town and noticed a sparkly and shining-looking mirror.
Her eyes flattened as she noticed the salespony was hanging a 'closed' sign in front of his door. Pinkie Pie's ears drooped down until she ran towards the door to pound her head aggressively.
''Hello, Mr. Salespony!'' she shouted. ''I would like to buy that shiny mirror you have in your little shop, please!''
Suddenly, her head stopped pounding against the door as it had made a creaked noise. The door opened, having a brown pony with dark brown hair and sky blue eyes stand in front of the charismatic customer.
''You say you would like to buy my mirror that is the only one left?'' he summarised.
Pinkie Pie nodded effusively. ''Yes, please!''
Smiling, he took out the mirror and hoofed it over to the pink pony. He waved before he slammed the door on her. Pinkie Pie got back up from the ground and admired the shiny object. She was gawking in amazement.
''You are so shiny!'' she complimented. ''I can't wait to show you to my alligator friend Gummy!''
She moved the mirror towards the direction of Sugar Cube Corner. Once she opened the door, her eyes widened in horror. There were cupcakes splattered on the walls, donuts scattered around on the floor, toys were fallen off their shelves.
She looked down at the cake twins who were giggling and smiling innocently upon her. Usually, Pinkie Pie would be adored at this moment but since she wanted her new mirror to be clean, she had to lash out at them. But once it had made them cry, Pinkie Pie somehow felt sympathetic for doing that and patted them softly on the back to prevent them from crying even more.
Meanwhile, a sophisticated and elegant posed white unicorn was admiring her reflection in a mirror in her bedroom. She fluttered her eyelashes out flirtatiously until she got interrupted from her beautifying.
Her little sister Sweetie Belle had crashed open her door which made Rarity scream in terror and accidentally wagged her tail onto her mirror. It fell towards the ground, getting it scratched and shattered into a million pieces. Rarity widened her eyes in horror and looked accusingly at her little sister who gave a sheepish smile in response before shutting the door again and running out to her own bedroom.
Rarity crouched down on the floor and levitated the shattered pieces. She groused as she tried mending it back together but thanks to her low-skilled magic, she was unable to fix it. But she does know somepony who can!
She found herself in Starlight Glimmer's bedroom, having a lavender unicorn with a purple mane and teal highlights sit on her bed comfortably. She cocked an eyebrow as she was shown a bag of shattered pieces handed over by the white unicorn.
She winced. ''You want me to fix this broken mirror of yours?''
Rarity nodded. ''As you may see, my magic does not match your abilities in magic so I have come to you if you know a spell to mend a broken mirror?'' She batted her eyelashes flirtatiously.
Sighing, Starlight hopped off her bed and muttered, ''I am flattered that you think I am powerful but-''
She was suddenly interrupted by the white unicorn. ''Not powerful? What are you talking about? You have enslaved an entire village, stole their cutie marks away from them, mastered Star Swirl the Bearded's time-traveling spell, and even showed your powerfulness to an alicorn!''
''-I don't think anypony can mend a broken mirror.''
Starlight grimaced at the mention of her dark past and given examples of it, but blushed in response for making everypony believe she is powerful, something she has always dreamed to be to when she was just a little and heartbroken filly.
Dejected, Rarity sighed and trotted out the door. ''Thanks anyway, darling.''
Feeling dispirited, Starlight halted quickly once she had a thought struck in her mind. ''But!'' she interjected, which had got the unicorn's trotting to an abrupt stop. ''You could ask Twilight for some mirrors. I heard she has lots, I don't know why she has so many; I thought she was more interested in books!''
Rarity smiled sheepishly and trotted out of the door again. She also didn't know why an alicorn princess who loves books a lot would have so many mirrors.
She found the library door and trotted inside of it. She was met by a purple alicorn too absorbed in a book. Rarity rolled her eyes at her friend's usual habit of reading and approached her. She recalled everything that had happened to her and even showed her a bag of remaining pieces of her shattered mirror.
Twilight nodded with a smile as she got up from the ground and trotted over to the bookshelves to specifically pick out a book and pull it out, which made the wall slide open. The alicorn stepped into a dark passageway, followed closely by Rarity, and trotted through a dimmed hallway but with torches lit up on the walls for illumination. Additionally, they gave sparks to their horns for more light to see in the dark even more.
Then Twilight stopped at a halt which made Rarity do the same as they were stood in front of a door coloured in dark purple painted hideously. Rarity could tell no one had renovated this place in a long time; she could have done it herself but she had never heard or known about this place.
Once Twilight had opened the door, they both stepped in to find millions of different mirrors hung on walls with various shapes, sizes, and colours. Each of the mirrors refracted atop of each other within the transparency and brightness.
Twilight's eyes drew to a small one and levitated it into Rarity's hooves who shook her head in denial. Twilight's excitement increased as she began searching for the right mirrors for her white unicorn friend.
''I have so many mirrors of different sizes and colours,'' Twilight explained matter-of-factly. ''Some of them are just too narrow or too wide, too big or too small.'' She paused for a brief moment. ''What am I doing? Just talking about sizes is making me sound like Ponylocks!''
She looked around to see that the white unicorn wasn't standing next to her anymore. Twilight groaned in annoyance and slouched herself onto a pile of mirrors. Her head perked up as she found a medium mirror. She held it up high and squealed in amazement.
''You want to borrow my mirror?''
Rarity nodded, levitating a bag of shattered pieces in front of her to show it to the orange cowgirl pony. Applejack shrugged and turned to her grandmother who had picked up a small mirror with small chunks of apples embroidered around it.
''I am not really a pony that would be so interested in mirrors but,'' said Applejack, ''ya could borrow one of Granny Smith's if it is for a very special occasion for ya.''
Some of the chunks of apples were falling off and the actual mirror itself was full of rust. Rarity gagged and stuck her tongue out in disgust. Granny Smith's ears drooped down and placed the mirror on the ground.
''So that's a no, then?''
Rarity soon found herself resting on a bench in the streets of Ponyville, ignoring ponies’ stares pointing at her. Normally Rarity is a type of pony to be poised and elegant when around ponies outside her friendship group; but right now she had dark circles underneath her eyes indicating the abundance of tiredness for finding a new mirror. All of this for a new mirror? How absurd!
''Rarity?''
Rarity's ears perked up at the mention of her name. She stood up from her lying position and ruffled her mane in place. She noticed her yellow pegasus friend was standing in front of her which aroused Rarity to give out a polite smile and sit down on the bench properly and elegantly.
''Hello there, darling!'' she chirped wearily. ''What can I do for you?''
''Is everything okay, Rarity?'' the yellow pegasus asked in concern.
Rarity's lips curled into a frown. She snapped, ''NO! Everything is not okay! I was beautifying myself in my mirror this morning when all of a sudden my tail just had to break it! I ran into everyone in town for one, checked if the salespony had one but it looked like they were all out of stock so now I have no mirror for myself at all!''
She pounded herself on the bench and cried as Fluttershy stroked her on the back for comfort.
''There, there,'' said Fluttershy. ''Let it all out. Now I'm sure somepony here would have a mirror. Or a creature.''
Rarity gasped. ''You are right! I still haven't asked you yet!''
Fluttershy blinked. ''Pardon?''
Rarity batted her eyelashes. ''Do you have a mirror at your lovely and humble cottage, my sweet Fluttershy?''
''No,'' Fluttershy uttered as she rubbed her arm nervously. Rarity's ears drooped down and her lips quivered out of misery. ''I'm sorry but I'm just not really interested in beautifying myself in a mirror.''
''You must have natural beauty then,'' Rarity mumbled. Her eyes drifted off as she found Sugar Cube Corner in the distance. She gasped and ignored Fluttershy's speech. She ran inside the bakery and rang the bell that was sat atop a dessert showcase counter table.
A pink pony came up from the ground and startled the white unicorn along. When Rarity screamed, Pinkie Pie screamed simultaneously. However, Rarity’s one was more out of fright whilst Pinkie Pie’s one was out of excitement. Soon, the unicorn gave a suspire of relief but glared at her friend who was snickering in delight.
''Pinkie Pie!'' she exclaimed, motioning her hoof at her. ''Do not do that again!''
''Aw, come on!'' Pinkie Pie whined. ''You got to admit that was funny!''
''No, it wasn't!'' Rarity muttered underneath her breath, already paranoid of how her day had turned out. Alas, she cleared her throat. ''Anyways, I am not here for any pranks at the moment but I was wondering if you have a spare mirror for yours truly?'' She fluttered her eyelashes seductively.
Pinkie Pie handed a bag of sweets to a customer and had her ears perked up at the mention of a mirror. She gave a sheepish chuckle.
She gulped. ''Nope!''
She ran upstairs to her bedroom and cuddled her new mirror as she landed herself atop her bed, leaving Rarity blink in bewilderment. She trotted up the stairs to see what the commotion was on about with the pink pony. Once she came upstairs, her eyes turned to gaze at the mirror in Pinkie Pie's grasp.
''So you do have a mirror!'' Rarity exclaimed, releasing a sigh of relief and smiling happily in delight.
''No, I don't!'' Pinkie Pie mumbled, panicking as she tried stuffing the mirror inside her mane.
''Okay then,'' Rarity muttered. ''Well, is it okay if I could use it to beautify myself? I mean, what could you possibly be doing with a mirror? You are not exactly the beautifying type, Miss Pie.''
''I’m not, it's just for my...sister!'' she tried. ''Limestone loves mirrors because it's made of rocks! Uh...is it?''
''Oh. Okay then,'' Rarity said. ''But is it okay if I just look at my reflection to see if I look okay?''
''You look perfectly ravishing today, Rarity!'' she said with a sheepish smile.
She had lied.
Her mane was frazzled and there were wrinkles on her face due to the abundance of the crying of her broken mirror. Rarity flinched, cracking a weak smile on her face.
''I appreciate the lovely compliment, darling, but I really need to check myself out.''
Pinkie Pie tried to protest further but instead let out a sigh in defeat. She nodded weakly which got Rarity hyped up and shook her hoof excitedly. She raced towards the mirror and levitated a hairbrush to smooth out her luscious purple mane.
On the side of her, the pink pony shook her head and gave out a smile.
This had continued on within weeks. Rarity would often go to Sugar Cube Corner and look at her reflection in Pinkie Pie's mirror. As fun as Pinkie Pie loved having her friends over, she had felt a little bit annoyed with her. She would not even speak a word to her but just look at her reflection.
It didn't seem like Rarity liked the idea of always coming to her for a mirror to beautify herself either. So she came up with a scheme to steal it from her. A part of Rarity would tell herself that this was a wrong idea of her, but the other part of Rarity told herself that it's a brilliant plan so that way she wouldn't have to annoy her friend or herself.
One night, Pinkie Pie was getting ready to go to bed. She was placing her mane in a bun at her vanity table so it wouldn't be all over her face during the night. Moments later, she trotted on over towards her bed and ducked herself inside her blanket.
Standing at the window, there was a mysterious figure wearing a black cloak and night visioning goggles. Once she came inside, she levitated the rope beside her and turned her gaze back at the mirror. She slowly trotted towards it on the tip of her hooves quietly.
She stopped in the middle of the room once she heard the pink pony flipping sides in her bed. Rarity sighed of relief that she didn't wake up - yet. She increased her speed of quiet trotting so she could quickly grab the mirror and go. Once she had grabbed hold of the mirror, she stepped on a plush toy of Rainbow Dash on the ground - which apparently had woken her up from her slumber.
Rarity panicked, secretly begging for the pink pony to not open her eyes fully and not get out of her bed. She took one glance at the mirror with a smile and turned around to get ready to race towards the window. Unfortunately, she couldn't because the pink pony had stood up from her sleeping position with a yawn. This made Rarity shriek and hit a bottle of mayonnaise which had led to falling on top of the mirror - where in Equestria had that come from?
And what was her problem with knocking things over?
Pinkie Pie gasped as she had noticed a pony intruding inside her home - and inside her own bedroom! She screamed in fright and threw her clock at the mysterious intruder draped in a black cloak.
Rarity tried escaping all of the objects Pinkie Pie was throwing at her.
''Wait, Pinkie Pie, please!'' she begged. ''Let me explain, this is all a big misunderstanding.''
‘’Uh-huh.’’ Pinkie Pie eyed her suspiciously, ignoring the familiar voice. ‘’Who do you think you are intruding in my home? But nice visioning goggles by the way!’’
Rarity unintentionally ignored the compliment as she tried dodging all the objects that had come in her way. She tried telling her to stop.
Then Pinkie Pie had stopped. The intruder's voice was posh and familiar to Pinkie Pie. On top of that, how did they know her? Something was a might fishy and Pinkie Pie was beginning to know who this intruder was. It was none other than...
''Rarity!''
Rarity gulped, nodding weakly as she took off her disguise to reveal herself. Pinkie Pie gasped dramatically.
''Why, Rarity, why would you intrude on my home?!''
Rarity desperately pulled onto the pink pony’s foreleg, and hopelessly cried out: ''Pinkie Pie, look, I can explain!''
''Oh,'' said Pinkie Pie, shooting a glare. ''I know what you are doing!''
Rarity gulped. ''You do?!''
''You are trying to steal my...mayonnaise bottle!'' Pinkie Pie's lips curled into a sly grin. ''Oh, Rarity, if you really wanted my mayonnaise bottle then you know you could have always told me!''
''What?'' Rarity uttered. ''No, that's not what's it!
Pinkie Pie deadpanned. ''Then what is it?''
Rarity gulped for the last time. ''W-Well...I've just come to steal your mirror!'' she burst out, again pulling onto Pinkie Pie's foreleg. ''It is just so amazing and shiny. I just want to keep it all to myself instead of coming here every now and then just to look at my reflection! I...I...''
Pinkie Pie threw her head back into hysterical laughter. Rarity cocked an eyebrow at this movement.
''Oh, Rarity, I was bound to give you my mirror at some point for your birthday that is coming up in one hundred and twenty-six more days!''
''I...what?''
''Why, I brought the mirror for you, silly!'' she exclaimed happily, bouncing up and down. ''And if you want, you can take the birthday present early!''
Rarity flinched an eyebrow and bit her lip in disgust now that the mirror was covered in mayonnaise. She sighed in defeat. She had always wanted this mirror or any type of medium mirror per se.
''I would love to take good clean of it,'' she replied with a crooked smile.
Pinkie Pie bounced up and down as she moved the mirror to Rarity's side.
She then paused. ”Under one condition.”
Rarity's left eye twitched.
”You get to give me your night visioning goggles in exchange for this mirror.”
Rarity breathed in relief, levitating the goggles toward her friend. ”It's a deal.”
Pinkie delightfully grabbed the goggles and passed the mirror to Rarity. ''Although,'' she whispered, ''do you want to know what type of mayonnaise this is?''
Rarity darted her eyes around. Then she sat down on the ground, preparing herself for some blabbering from the charismatic pink pony. Pinkie Pie opened her mouth to baffle some nonsense.
''Why, it's a super sticky mayonnaise Twilight had made in her science lab to test which mayonnaise is the stickiest she can make - of course, this one won!'' she declared with a joyful bounce.
The other day, Rarity was beautifying herself in her new mirror Pinkie Pie had given to her as an early birthday present. She was displaying so many different poses as she finished combing down her luscious purple mane.
She smooched on the mirror until all of a sudden her whole body was dragged inside the mirror. She screamed in terror, having Sweetie Belle crash open the door again.
''Rarity?''
There was complete silence that all the unicorn filly - the only one in the room - could hear was a clock plummeting to the ground, that was hung on the wall, getting smashed into glass pieces.
