Chapter 7: Jedi Training / New Arrivals

Previous ChapterNext Chapter

A week later, it was time for Cody to begin his Jedi training. He and his father, Blaze, along with R5 were in the castle gardens.

“The Force gives the Jedi and the Sith their power. It’s the energy field created by all living things. It surrounds us and penetrates us. It also binds the galaxy together,” Blaze said.

“Even the ponies of Equestria?” Cody asked.

“Yes, Equestrian magic is merely an extension of a larger connection to the Force.” Blaze replied, “To embrace that connection, you must concentrate and clear your mind. Feel, don’t think, and trust your instincts.”

“What must I do first?” Cody asked.

“Try moving flower pots around as a start,” Blaze replied.

Cody concentrated on one flower pot and managed to lift it a foot off the ground.

“You must also focus on control,” Blaze said.

Cody gently set the pot on the wall, then did the same with the other pots.

“Very good, Cody. You got them all on the first attempt,” Blaze said.

“When you trained with Master Plo, were you successful the first time too?” Cody asked.

“I wasn’t. It took me three hours for me to get better at control and improve my focus when I was your age,” Blaze replied, “Now let’s see you lift something heavier, like R5.”

With enough concentration and focus, Cody gently lifted R5 a foot off the ground, then gently set him down in another part of the gardens.

“When will I learn to use a lightsaber?” Cody asked.

“Very soon, after you practice Force pushing and pulling. You must also learn patience,” Blaze replied.

Cody nodded and tried to concentrate on a rake, but he failed to do so the first time.

“I suggest you try it again, Cody. Stretch out with your feelings,” Blaze instructed.

Cody stood in place and concentrated, pulled the rake towards him, then he grabbed it. He noticed some weeds throughout the garden and decided to use a Force push on them. Once he concentrated on one set of weeds, Cody used a Force push to uproot them, then he did the same with all the other weeds until he cleared the whole garden.

Blaze noticed his success and said, “Very good practice, Cody. I see you also put your practice to good use, now the gardener doesn’t have to worry about pulling weeds for a few months.”

Soon enough, Dagger came to the garden, then set up a target and he also nullified his blaster.

“Now it’s time for you to learn how to fight with a lightsaber,” Blaze said as he gave Cody one of his lightsabers (the original), “I’ve tuned both of them down for your training.”

“It’s heavier than I thought,” Cody replied.

“With lots of practice, you’ll get used to it,” said Blaze.

Soon enough, Cody was practicing how to duel and was learning Forms I-IV. After two hours of practicing with the forms and dueling, it was time for him to practice deflecting blaster fire.

“It feels lighter now,” Cody said.

“That’s because you’re getting in tune with the blade,” Blaze replied.

Cody held the lightsaber at the ready, he focused and said to himself repeatedly, “The Force is with me and I’m one with the Force.”

Dagger fired in his direction, then he acted on instinct and deflected the blast in a random direction, then deflected and blocked every blast that came afterwards.

“You’ve got the blocking down for the most part, but you shouldn’t just randomly deflect the energy any which way,” Blaze said, “You get to hit the target we gave you.”

Soon enough, Cody kept deflecting every last blast at the target until he scored a perfect bull’s eye. All of a sudden, a starship came towards the mountain base.

“Everything alright, Blaze? You’re a little distant,” Dagger asked.

“I’m fine. I just see a ship coming our way, and it doesn’t look Imperial,” Blaze said as he looked through his electrobinoculars.

Later in the day, some guards came up to Blaze and Dagger saying, “Your highness! Commander! We have more visitors from beyond Equestria, coming from the stars!”

“Find them and escort them to the palace immediately. Celestia and I will deal with them later,” Blaze ordered.

Meanwhile, Cody had finished his first day of Jedi training and was now in the kitchen grabbing a snack. Using the Force, he took out the cookie jar and brought it down to his level, then took out four chocolate chip cookies. After he ate them, Cody placed the jar back in it’s place and walked through the hallway hoping to find Cadance, Kimono, or anypony. Suddenly, he bumped into Blueblood.

“I-I-I’m s-s-sorry, B-Blueblood,” Cody said in a frightened tone.

“You will be. Stay out of my way!” Blueblood replied.

Blueblood then hit Cody with the back of his hand, knocking him down, then he punched him in the face four times, causing him to have a black eye and a bloody nose. He also punched Cody in the stomach twice. Just before Blueblood could even knock him out, Cody stretched out his arms and screamed, “No!” He accidentally used a Force push on Blueblood, sending him into a wall.

Cody got back up, with his arms clutching his stomach, then kept walking through the hallway crying until he reached Cadance’s room where she had just finished her homework.

“Hi, Co..” she tried to say as her eyes widened seeing him in pain, “Cody, what’s the matter?”

“B-B-Blueblood hit me,” Cody replied while crying.

Cody then sat on his cousin’s lap and they hugged each other as he cried into her chest. They stayed like this for five minutes until she gently broke their embrace, she grabbed some tissues and wiped the blood off her chest, then gave some to Cody for him to put in his nose.

“Come on, were telling your mother right away,” Cadance said.

Meanwhile, in the castle throne room, the new arrivals were escorted to meet with Celestia and Blaze. The first was a young man roughly 18 years old, with red hair and green eyes. The second was a brown-skinned woman with short, black hair. The third was a creature with four arms known as a Latero. The fourth was a young female Dathomiri Zabrak, and the fifth was a small, two-legged droid.

Blaze immediately recognized two of their visitors as old acquaintances of his during the Clone War. He then said, “Cal? Cere? Is that you? It’s me, Blaze.”

“Good to see you again, Blaze,” Cere replied.

“These are our friends, Greez Dritus, Nightsister Merrin, and my droid, BD-1,” Cal added, then asked, “What planet is this?”

“Welcome to Equestria. It’s good to meet you too, Greez, Merrin, and BD-1,” Blaze said, “This is my wife, Princess Celestia.”

“Good to meet you all. How did you find our planet?” Celestia said.

“We just set course for Wild Space and happened to find this planet, we’re on the Empire’s hit list and seek sanctuary,” Cere replied.

Just then, Cadance came in the throne room with Cody still crying after his nasty encounter with Blueblood.

“What happened, Cody?” Celestia asked in horror.

“Blueblood hit him in the stomach and in the face,” Cadance answered for him.

Princess Celestia and Prince Blaze were very boiled inside at the moment, how and why would Blueblood want to hurt and pick on their son?

“Anyway, this is our niece and son, Princess Cadance and Prince Cody,” Blaze said keeping his anger contained.

“Good to meet you too, kids,” Cere said.

“It’s nice meeting two more Jedi,” Cadance replied.

“When we find Blueblood, he is so grounded for a month,” Celestia said.

“Pardon me for asking, but who are you talking about?” Cal asked.

“Prince Blueblood is our nephew, he hates off-worlders and he’s hated Cody for all five years of our son’s life,” Celestia replied, “Now if you’ll excuse me, I need to have a word with Blueblood right away.”

“How about we tell you kids a story about our adventure in the past year?” Cere said.

“That ought to lift up Cody’s spirits,” Greez added.

“We’d like that, Master Junda,” Cadance replied.

The crew of the Stinger Mantis told Cadance and Cody the story of their adventure to rebuild the Jedi Order. Cody especially liked hearing about the planets of Zeffo, Bogano, Kashyyyk, and Illum, but he was sad to hear Merrin tell them about the extermination of her people at the hands of General Grievous during the Clone War.
