Once in a Blue Moon

Chapter 3

“Are you sure you want to do this?” Meteor asked, looking at me with concern.

I was pacing around the room a little nervous it wasn't everyday that somepony just barged right into see the princess, especially without a royal summons.

“Yes, I have to talk to Celestia about what to do next.”

“Ok, but what are you going to say? Hi princess I was just wondering if you could help me seduce your sister.” she said with a hint of sarcasm

“I don't know, but I've known Celestia for a long time surely she can give me SOME advice.”

Just then two royal guards walked out “Come with us, you are next to see the princess.” We then followed them down along hallway towards a pair of large oak doors.

I gulped. I was really nervous, it wasn't because I was seeing the princess. No, I had known Celestia for hundreds of years. No I was nervous because of the nature of our visit, Luna. I had never told Celestia of my love for her younger sister, and now I was going to walk right up to her and tell her in person.

As we walked into the grand meeting hall I couldn't help but feel even more nervous. I looked over to Meteor, but she was too busy staring at all the scenery. She had been to the castle before, heck she has even meet the princess a couple of times, but she was looking around like this was her first visit.

We stopped right in front of Celestia's throne and bowed to her.

“Hello there my little ponies, I am to understand that this meeting is urgent.” she said in a most regal yet pleasant voice.

I raised my head to answer. “ Yes, princess, it is. We must speak with you in um..........private” I said shaking in my horseshoes

She gave us a small nod and bid her guards to leave. Once they were
gone she started to talk.

“Now Blue Moon what is this Urgent business we need to discus?”

I laughed nervously. “ Oh you know just catching up, soooooo how have you been? You look really good, have you lost weight.”
Celestia eyed me suspiciously. “You seem rather nervous, what is bothering you my friend?”

“Oh its nothing in fact it can wait until next time we mee, lets say ohh I don't know like a couple hundred years? Yeah that sounds good” I said heading for the doors.

But before I could reach them Meteor jumped in my way

“Oh no you don't, we came all this way so you could ask Miss Celestia your question. I'm not letting you back out now.” she said pushing me back into the middle of the room.

“Sigh. You're right Meteor, what would I do without you” Getting up I turned to face Celestia.

“Ok Celestia I came here to ask about your sister, Princess Luna, and to tell you of my feelings for her” I instantly closed my eyes waiting for the blast of magic that I was sure was going to hit me, but it never came all I heard was laughter I opened my eyes to see Celestia suppressing a giggle.

“Is that what this is about? I have known about your infatuation with my sister for a very long time and I am quite surprised that it took you this long to tell me” she said still trying not to laugh.

I just sat there with a blank expression on my face trying to comprehend just what was going on, but nothing was coming to me, my brain was fried my oldest secret wasn't even a secret in the first place.

“Um Miss Celestia Blue Moon came here to ask for your help at trying to win over Luna’s heart, considering he couldn't do it the first time” Meteor said trying to difuse the situation.

Celestia looked at her confused. “What do you mean he couldn't do it the first time? He has never tried asking out my sister.”

Now it was Meteors turn to looked confused. “But he told me he tried and she turned him down.”

Celestia just looked at me. “Lying to your friend is never a good idea Blue”

“Huh, fine I guess I should tell you the truth. I never really tried to ask Luna to be my very special somepony. Every time I got near her I got really shy and hid. In fact I don't even know if she knows who I am.” I said hanging my head in shame.

Meteor walked over to me and gave me an angry hug “ Its ok I get what you're saying,” She then proceeded to slap me in the face. “and that's for lying to me!”

All I could do was rub my burning face where she had slapped me, I knew I deserved it and I didn't even bother to protest.

“Well now that that is out of the way we can proceed, Blue, I am sorry, but I can't help you
it will be up to you to win over my sisters heart.” Celestia said apologeticaly.

All I could do was look at her. “ I understand princess, come on Meteor we have to head home now. I'm sure the princess has a lot of work to do”

Without another word we bid the princess farewell and started our flight home.

“Ok Blue, what's going on? Why did we just leave like that, we could have went to Luna or something.”

I kept my focus trying my best to ignore her. I really didn't want to talk about this, all I wanted to do was go home, crawl into bed, and stay there.

“Hello? Equestria to Blue are you even listening to me?”

I couldn't take it any more I flew straight for my house leaving Meteor behind. I still couldn't face
Luna, even the idea of doing so got me all shy and scared. I landed in front of my house and ran inside, locking the door behind me to make sure Meteor didn't follow. I didn't want to talk to her, not now. I knew all she would do was try and get me to go back to canterlot and talk to Luna.

“Blue let me in. We have to go back so you can talk to the princess! You need to tell her how you feel” She said through the door.

“No Meteor I can't, I'm not going to. Not right now, no, just give me some time ok?”

“Sigh” “Ok Blue I will give you some time, but we will go back to canterlot and you will talk to Luna.” She said with emphasis on the word will.

“Ok.”

“I got to go Blue, it's getting late. I'll see you in a couple of days. Try to get out or something, you spend all of your time in your house.” She then started walking off.

I stood there in the dark contemplating what I should do. I couldn't just hideout, Meteor would come back and drag me back to canterlot. I sat there thinking before I finally went to bed.

I was still laying in my bed. I couldn't get to sleep, there was still too much on my mind. I just lay there until fate decided to play a cruel trick.

GRUGGGG

(Again not good with sounds its a stomach growl)

I realized I hadn't eaten since yesterday. I got out of bed and made my way out to the kitchen, but when I got there nothing looked good, but then I remembered back in town there was a big building that looked like gingerbread, it looked like a bakery. I looked down at my stomach with pleading eyes.

“Are you really that hungry?”

GRUGGGG

“Sigh”
“Fine” And so I set out to find this bakery even though I really didn't want to leave my
house.

When I got to ponyville I wasn't happy, in fact I was down right mad. I didn't want to be in this town, it was too happy and colorful for me to handle right now. All around I saw ponies with smiling faces and it made my blood boil. Never-the-less I had to get my food and get out as fast as possible, or at least before I snapped at some pony and attracted too much attention .

I finally found the bakery, or should I say "Sugar Cube Corner" as the sign said on the front. To my surprise the building was made out of actual gingerbread and smelled amazing.

“Ok just got to go in, buy some cupcakes and then its back to the house”

As I entered the building I noticed it was kind of packed with different ponies trying to buy their own treats and other delicious goodies. I made my way to the front of the crowd so I could by my food, but when I got there there was no one at the counter, not a single pony.

“Um hello is anypony there?” I looked behind the counter and nopony was there then I turned around to the same pink mare that ran away from me the other day, but this time she wasn't running no this time she was talking really REALLY fast I only caught part of what she was saying it was something like
“himynameispinkiepiewhatsyoursohyoumustbenewintowncauseiveneverseenyubeforeandiknoweveryponyinponyvilleandwhenisayeveryponyimeanEVERYPONY”

After that I couldn't take it anymore. All the happy, all the smiles, while I was wallowing in my own depression. It was too much.

“SHUT UP! Just shut up all I wanted to do was buy a couple of cupcakes and be on my way, is that too much to ask?!” I
let it all out all my depression, all of my anger from these last couple days on this one mare, This mare that I didn't even know. She looked at me with tear filled eyes before running outside, I could hear her sobs as she ran and all I felt was guilt. I walked out of Sugar Cube Corner getting glares and dirty looks from all the ponies that saw and heard me yell at her. All I wanted to do was go home and hide, hide forever, but before I could I was tackled by a strange blue blur.

“HEY WHO DO YOU THINK YOU ARE YELLING AT PINKIE PIE LIKE THAT HUH”

“….”

“WELL ARE YOU GONNA ANSWER ME OR DO I HAVE TO BEAT THE ANSWER OUT OF YOU” She raised her hoof getting ready to strike, but before she could she was enveloped in a purple aroma and pulled back.

“Rainbow stop. Get off of him” It was the same mare from the library. Twilight she was holding the rainbow maned mare
in the air with her magic. Then she saw me and her expression changed from one of shock to one of confused anger.

“Ok who are you and what did you do to make Rainbow this mad at you?” She said stomping her hoof, releasing the mare from her grasp.

“He yelled at pinkie pie and made her run away crying.” Said the mare who’s name I guess is Rainbow.

“He WHAT!!” Now she looked really mad.

I got up off the ground and dusted myself off, but before I could speak I was enveloped in the same purple aura and thrust in the face of Twilight.

“Ok you have three seconds to tell me who you are, got that?” I could tell she was dead serious, not only by her intense stare, but her magic was starting to tighten around my body.

“I will tell after you let me go” It was getting hard to breath now.

“Fine” She dropped me with a
thud.

“Ok my name is Blue moon and I'm sorry for yelling at your friend. I have had a rough couple of days dealing with some personal stuff.” I said rubbing the back of my neck.

“THAT DOESN'T MEAN YOU CAN YELL AT ANYPONY YOU WANT TO” Ok now this mare was getting on my nerves all her yelling was not helping my mood and neither was this interogation.

“Hush Rainbow, now I don't know why you are having a bad time, but Rainbow is right just because you're in a bad mood doesn't mean you can take it out on other ponies."

“You don't know what I've been through ok? Now I'm sorry for yelling at your friend, I really am, but just leave me alone” Now I sounded like the biggest jerk on the planet, but right now I didn't care, so far today I have yelled at a mare, been
tackled by another mare, questioned by
Twilight, and I still never got my damn cupcake.

Now both Twilight and Rainbow were pissed at me. I realized I wasn't going to get out of this easily if I wanted to get home I had to calm down and think of a plan and I think I already had one.

“HEY GET BACK HERE!!!”
