Once in a Blue Moon

Chapter Five

“Ok girls it all started on the day I was born, Twilight how much do you know about a blue moon?”

“Um not very much all I know is that its a rare occurrence only happening once every hundred years and not even Luna controls it, it just happens” she rubbing the back of her head with her hoof.

“Thats right, but also the moon itself radiates magic when it rises”

“Ok, but what does that have to do with you being one thousand years old and the princess?” Said rainbow a little annoyed.

“I was getting to that you see my birthday falls on the day the blue moon rises and because of that I absorbed some of its magic when I was born which made me a little...... different”

FLASHBACK: 1000 years

“wa wa”

“The child is born the birth is complete.......oh my”

“What what's wrong with him?” Said the stallion at the edge of the room.

“He appears to already have his cutie mark sir Lunar eclipse”

“Thats impossible” Eclipse said, trotting over to his new son. A beautiful blue colt with a light blue mane with a silver streak all the way down to his tail, he held up his so in the moonlight and there on his flank was a moon, a blue moon.

“I must see the unicorn council right away” He said bolting out of the hut.

BACK TO PRESENT

“Wait just a second you were born with your cutie mark?” Said twilight.

“Well kind of only half of my cutie mark was there” I stood up and showed them my flank “You see my cutie mark is a blue moon with a telescope the telescope showed up a few years later now back to my story”

“Council I must speak with you its about my son” Eclipse said while running into the council of unicorns hut.

“Yes, what is thy problem sir Eclipse” said a head unicorn with a booming voice.

“I believe my son is cursed you must help him please Starswirl you must help” Eclipse was on his knees begging.

“Let me see the child” Eclipse hoofed Starswirl his son and he began examining him with his magic “ I am sorry sir Eclipse I can not help, but I know of someone who can come with and be swift”

Starswirl lead Lunar eclipse towards the forbidden forest with his son in tow.

“Where are we going Starswirl I thought you were going to help my son not lead us to nowhere” Starswirl stops and turns to him.

“I am and we are going to the home of my teacher and are leader” With that he pushed some bushes out of the way to reveal a large royal castle.

“You....you don't mean the princesses” Eclipse was scared he had never seen the princesses no one had it was said they had power beyond measure.

“If anyone can help your son its them, but you have to trust me”.

regaining his composure he stepped forward “Lets go.”

Starswirl led him through a long hallway at the end stood a large oak door with a sun and moon symbols carved into it. He opened the door and there sitting on two thrones one as bright as the sun and the other as beautiful as the night were the princesses.

“My most faithful student what is the nature of this visit?” Celestia asked with a warm smile.

“Princess we believe this stallions son has been cursed he was born with a cutie mark” Starswirl said stepping forward.

“That is most peculiar my we see this child” Said the lunar princesses.

“Yes of course your highnesses” He hoofed them the colt and the princesses went about examining him. After about ten minutes both princesses released their magic and set the child down.

“Well what alles my son?” Said Eclipse with worry in his voice.

Celestia stepped forward “There is nothing wrong with your son sir Eclipse in fact you should be blessed”

“Blessed I do not understand?”

This time Luna stepped forward “You see when a unicorn gives birth she searches for magic to aid in the process and with the blue moon at full rise she called upon its magic and that is what transformed your son.”

“But that still doesn't explain his cutie mark or anything....”

“We are sorry, but me and my sister must take our leave we wish you many happy days my little ponies.”

With that they teleported away leaving Eclipse to think of what the princess had said.

"And that's all I know over the years I started to look into the blue moon research it, but to no avail. "

The whole room stood silent all the girls just looked at me.

"Wow that's amazing so you really are one thousand years old darling." Said rarity breaking the silence.

“Yeah I am” I said rubbing the back of my neck.

“Wow you must have been ALL kinds of party’s oh I bet it must have been fun huh was it was it?”

I just sat there thinking about all the years i’ve been alive all I had seen all I had done then I finally answered “No Pinkie it was not fun i’ve lived too long i’ve seen my so much, my family my friends I say them turn to dust before my very eyes”

“Oh my”
“I’m sorry”

“Oh darling”

“Holy cow”

“Thats terrible sugarcube”

“That must have been terrible I, I mean we can only imagine what you went through Blue”

I didn't hear any of them I was lost in my own little world images of everypony I knew flashed into my head all at once then it stopped on one pony the only pony who seemed to be there the only one who outlasted the years just like me......Luna

“I have to go, thank you all of you I need to tell that story i’ve lived with it for so long i-it feels good to get it off of my chest” I started towards door, but I was stopped

“Wait are you going to be ok Blue I-I mean walking home that is?” Fluttershy said getting up.

“Yeah i’ll be fine good night everypony.” and with that I started on my way home feeling like a weight had been lifted off of my shoulders for once I felt a little happy.
