Prince of the Herd
New friends and new plans
Previous ChapterNext ChapterFluttershy agreed to talk to the mayor about building a home there for dragons. She had to admit that it was sad that nopony wanted to live there. And it would be a nice idea to have a place where dragons can stay where they don't have to worry about burning anything by accident. Trotting off she left the stallion to consider how best he thought they should build their new home.
Trotting onto the grass FrostBite looked around. After a few minutes an elegant voice called out catching his attention. Looking back he smiled at the newcomer.
"Hello darling. I don't think we met. My name's Rarity." She paused her introduction as she looked him over. "My… such a unique specimen." She cooed. Clearing her voice she moved up to his side. "I wouldn't mind making a few outfits for you later. If you don't mind stopping by Carousel Boutique."
Smiling, FrostBite looked at himself. "I don't know. Smolder told me that outfits and dragons don't mix well." He replied before looking over the property. "And for now… I'm a bit more focused on how to set up our future home."
Blinking Rarity looked around and smiled. "If you don't mind dear. May I make a few suggestions?" After receiving a nod she continued using some nearby sticks as markers. "Well. As dragons enjoy their lava baths. That should go in the basement. It'll keep you warm in the winter and help heat your water… which should be on the opposite end of the basement." She exclaimed, drawing in the dirt to signify the two spots. "Instead of wood… maybe a soft stone or metal walls and doors." She then placed several sticks on their side to show walls and standings ones to mark the doorways. "Three bedrooms should be enough. In case you have guests come over. Even if..." She gave FrostBite a teasing glance.
"It's not like that." He countered quickly.
"Oh? Well. Even if that is the case. There's plenty of room this way." She pointed out eyeing the rest of the space. "It is common to have the bedrooms upstairs. Which gives plenty of space on the lower level for the kitchen and living room." He explained placing the sticks in their places. "Not to mention the bathroom." The two looked over the setup. "Why don't you walk around so we can make the adjustments before they start building. And this way we can determine where the stairs should go."
With a nod FrostBite moved to the front door and proceeded to imitate entering the house as his mind placed everything like Rarity had explained. Stopping inside he glanced back as Rarity saw what he did and made the adjustments. He then made his way to the kitchen. He barely noticed Rarity making adjustments as he moved.
The entire walkthrough took around an hour as they picked locations for all three floors. By the end they decided the stairs would be placed on two sides of the house with the one leading to the basement next to the kitchen and the one to the bedrooms opposite of it.
"I believe that Pinkie's sister would be able to help with putting your house together." Rarity explained as the two carefully made their way off the yard. "In fact… I believe each of my friends will be able to lend a hand if you can get the promotion to start building." It was a thought that FrostBite agreed with. "Though. I can't help but to feel that making it from stone would make expansions difficult." She pondered out loud.
"Well… Smolder did show me a few things that might make that easier." He mentioned idly as the approach what she pointed out was her Boutique. "So there shouldn't be much problem in adding more rooms." He joked. "Especially if we were to expand downward."
Rarity thought it over for a moment. "Didn't Fluttershy mention something about…" She muttered to herself as a rather aliased thought let itself be known. "Oh my…"
Clearing her throat Rarity opened the door motioning FrostBite to enter. "Maybe later." FrostBite apologized with a bow. "I'm sorry. I am thankful for your assistance. But I really should see the princess and check in with Smolder."
With a soft smile Rarity nodded. "I understand darlen. Just know if you ever need help… then come over and I'll see what I can do to help."
The two nod to each other before going their separate ways.
Town Office
Fluttershy sat in the mayor's office as the older mare looked through some papers. "Well… I can't see anything in our records that says he can't…" Mayor Mare said, letting a smile across her face. "The last owner didn't want it after…. Well. You know. And he didn't mention asking for a selling price." She looked through a few more papers. "Though… I should insist on him paying for the construction at least. If he's willing to do most of the work. Either building or gathering the materials…" She thought for a moment. "Even a bit of both would be fine."
"Oh… ummm… would it be ok if…" Fluttershy suggested meekly. "We help? If that's OK with you. It's just that. We might be able to make it safe for him. And he might relax knowing ponies he knows are helping."
The mayor considered her words for a minute. "That is a good idea. But you do understand. The expenses would fall on you and your friends. Not on him. Are you OK with that?" Fluttershy thought for a moment before giving a shaky nod. Mayor Mare knew it was the closest 'Yes' she'd get from the pegasus. Taking a deep breath, Mayor Mare stood and nodded. "Great. Then let your friends know that FrostBite is our newest resident. And they can start construction as soon as they're ready."
After sharing a quick "Thank you" complete with a hug. Fluttershy flew out and made her way to each of her friends. "Come to Twilight's Quickly." Was all she'd tell them before shooting off for her next stop.
Twilight's Castle
Twilight groaned in her bed. Something told her that things were going to get very… eventful. After about twenty minutes Spike walked in with FrostBite to see Twilight just laying in her bed. "Hey Twilight… this is FrostBite…" Spike said before seeing her experience. "... we'll. Now that you know he made it. You can get some rest and talk later." He called before quickly shutting the door and turning to FrostBite. "How about we go out for drinks." He suggested walking past the snickering stallion. "I have a growth spurt to celebrate and a new guy friend to hang out with." With that the two went to wherever Spike thought would be a good place to drink was.
Meanwhile the remaining members of the elements sat in what they called "the map room". And talked about how best to help the two new dragons build their new home.
Author's Note
So many possibilities. So many ways start a harem. I wonder who should be the first to join or wich stallion should be put in his place first... decisions, decisions, decisions.
