Construction begins

FrostBite, Smolder and Rainbow Dash made their way over to where his new home was going to be built. As they got close, they saw Pinkie Pie was talking to a gray mare who was looking at a few slabs of stone as two other similar colored earth ponies were looking at the yard and blueprint.

"What's the verdict?" Rainbow asked. "How soon can we start?"

The gray pony turned to her with a blank expression on her face. "My sisters are checking on the yard now." She said flatly. "We should be able to have it started once they're done."

As if on cue the other two ponies came over to join the group. "Is that the one that Pinkie said wanted a new house, Maud?" One of the newcomers snapped.

Maud nodded, turning to her sister. "How does it look?"

The mare shrugged. "Should be easy to put together. I'd say a week and it'll be ready to move in. If we can get help that is."

"What about the materials?" FrostBite asked. "

"I know some ponies that can have it here within a day." Maud replied. "You can thank us later."

"Are you sure you don't need our help?" Smolder asked.

"The mayor did say he should help." Fluttershy pointed out.

Maud looked at her sisters and nodded. "Then he can help Limestone with the basement." Maud suggested. "The rest should be easy after that."

With a nod FrostBite walked over to the yard with Limestone with a shovel that Pinkie pulled out of… somewhere. Smolder turned to the other girls with a confused look.

"So… what are the rest of us supposed to do?" She asked as they watched FrostBite working.

"Nothing till they finish construction." Twilight replied.

"Indeed dear." Rarity agreed. "Besides, a stallion with such… determination deserves a… well fashioned place to live."

"And where are we supposed to rest till the house is finished?" Smolder pointed out, causing the girls to look at each other for a moment.

"You guys can stay at the castle." Twilight suggested.

After watching FrostBite work a bit longer, the girls decided to go to the castle and prepare rooms for the two dragons. At least that was the plan before Spike met them at the door with a scroll.

Dear Twilight Sparkle,

It has come to my attention that a new pony has come from the dragon lands. I believe it safe to assume that you and the girls are doing what you can to make him feel welcome and comfortable. To which I'm grateful to you all. He may even be helpful for events that come in the future, given the right actions on the parts of you and your friends. It is unclear. But my sister and I feel something is coming. Have faith and trust in your friends, new and old.

Sincerely: Luna

Twilight blinked and looked over the letter again as she sat in her throne. "Did something happen to Celestia? Is Luna trying to warn me of something? Do we need to…"

Twilight was silenced with a hoof covering her muzzle. "From the sound of it." Applejack intervened. "Sounds like the princess trusts us to be good hosts and show FrostBite what friendship is like."

"I agree dear. She knows whatever comes our way, the six of us will overcome it." Rarity added. "Though… I will be honest. That part about the future does worry me slightly."

"Any ideas?" Smolder asked, sitting on the edge of the table. "I mean. I wouldn't be against sharing a room with him. But from the sound of it. I'd guess you girls may need the space more." At that the girls looked at her in shock. "What? Sharing sleeping space is how dragons bond. I thought Spike or Ember told you that."

"They did." Twilight admitted. "But I thought they were messing with me… after I… anyway. It would probably give the wrong impression if we started sharing a bed with him."

"Going to be hard for you considering he's staying at YOUR castle." Rainbow pointed out. "Besides. What if one of us needs a place to stay? Then what?"

Twilight thought for a moment. Then facehoof. "Right… you have to send your home in for maintenance."

"Ya. And you're the only one with space." Rainbow huffed. "And let's not forget Rarity needing a place for when she expands her shop. The CMC are old enough to date now. Maybe even…"

"Don't you finish that sentence Rainbow Dash." Rarity spat. "Or I will put you in the most girly dress I can imagine."

Rainbow and Applejack chuckled to themselves before turning to Twilight. "No… Rainbow's right. After all, I do have the space."

"Then it's decided. We'll each spend a few nights with him." Smolder confirmed. "Starting with…"

FrostBite let out a sigh as he looked around at the newly dug basement. It was agreed that they'd add a few tunnels that angle down a few feet. Marble Pie went to each cave placing rock slabs marking the use of each.

The caves included an emergency storage room, emergency exit that leads to Gaslly Gorge, and the spot the girls thought would be used for eggs was moved to its own tunnel that had a stream of lava protecting it.

"That way nothing tougher than a dragon will mess with them." Limestone explained.

"So all that's left is to reinforce the walls and start on the other floors?" FrostBite asked.

"Once we get this place set up." Maud replied. "Take a break. We have it from here."

Limestone smirked and looked over to her younger sister. "Hay Marble! Why don't you take him down the privacy tunnel and help him relax?"

After a moment the shy earth pony nodded and made her way down the tunnel followed by a confused and exhausted FrostBite.

"Do you really think it's a good idea to set them up together?" Maud asked bluntly. "You did notice Pinkie and her friends had their eyes on him first."

"Ya. But you can't deny he'd be a good addition to the family. Besides, us Pie sisters should shar." Limestone laughed.

Author's Note

Let's get spicy. Who from Ponyville and from the families of the main six should have a chance at joining the herd? Do you think ponies do that type of thing or maybe it's just one or two of the breeds?

Let me know what you think and stay tuned to find out.
