Soaring Emotions
A day in the Life (Soarin)
Previous ChapterNext ChapterSoarin took off into the air leaving Rainbow's house, his pelvic area still sore from last night as he flew home.
Soarin lands at his house and checks the door. Feeling that it's tight, he pulls his key out of his pocket and walks in. The lights are out and all is quiet as he enters the house and gently shuts the door. He makes his way into his room and pulls out fresh clothes from the closet and drawers. He then goes into the bathroom and turns on the water to let it warm up.
Looking in the mirror over the sink, Soarin takes off his shirt, expertly maneuvering his wings as he folds and unfolds them in order to get them through the holes in the back. He then removes his shoes and socks along with his pants and underwear, putting them all in a hamper they keep in the bathroom. He places his shoes by the door and hangs his fresh clothes on a hook before stepping into the shower.
The warm water hits his muscles, relaxing them as they pelt his body, Soarin uses a loofah to scrub his muscles and under his arms before washing his pelvic area.
As Soarin washed his inner thighs he felt a little sore, but smiled remembering the night of passion, he washes his rod and after he does lets it retreat back into its sheath.
As he washes up, he lets out a yawn as he scrubs his chest. He then places his head under the running water and removes it to put shampoo in, closing his eyes he scrubs his head vigorously as he washes the shampoo out. Turning off the showerhead he switches the warm water to cold and turns on the shower once more. Gasping at the shock, he braves through the cold as he rinses off and then turns off the shower.
Stepping out, his feet embrace the synthetic rubber mat as he takes a towel and dries off by dabbing the towel on his skin.
Once he's dried, he puts on his clothes and exits the bathroom.
Entering the kitchen he sits down at the table and contemplates on what to do today. Looking at the clock he sees each second tick by, the house is so silent he could even hear it.
Seeing that it was obvious that his parents and brother haven't eaten yet he decides to make them breakfast, including him since he wasn't very full.
After getting the coffee pot ready, he presses the brew button and then turns his attention to the stove. Soarin turned on the stove and lowered the flame so as not to overcook anything. He then plugs up the deep fryer and lets the oil get nice and hot. He takes out eight eggs from the fridge and checks each one with a small flashlight, holding the flashlight against the fragile shell Soarin noted that the eggs were good as he witnessed the golden yolk inside.
After gathering the eggs, he pulls out four frozen hash browns and eight pieces of bread, along with twelve stripes of veggie bacon.
Soarin then puts another pan on the stove after he placed the veggie bacon on the cold steel and turned the flame on low. The fake meat started to sizzle as the aroma wafted in the air, traveling to his parent's and brother's rooms as the smell entered their noses, forcing them awake.
As Soarin continues to cook, his parents and brother get dressed in their rooms, the brother putting on a red shirt and shoes, leaving on his shorts from the previous night and puts on his shoes. In the parent's room, his father puts on a blue short sleeve polo shirt and blue jeans, paired with black round-toe boots. His mother puts on a pink polo shirt and black pants, accompanied by black stiletto heels.
The father is the first one to enter the kitchen, the coffee pot filled with oil. "Morning son." The father exclaims as he sits down at the table.
Soarin smiles, "Morning, dad." Soarin replied, not looking back as he continued cooking, wanting not to burn anything.
"You're up early or are you just getting home?" His father asked, toying with him like a cat does a mouse.
Soarin chuckled and chuckled. "A bit of both actually." He admits sheepishly as he takes out the finished hash browns and puts them on a paper towel to sop up the excess oil.
The father lets out a hearty laugh. "It's ok my boy, I was the same at your age." His father said as he smiled, remembering the fond memories.
"Dad, I really don't want to hear about what you and mom did or do in bed." Soarin said as respectfully as he could.
"And so you shouldn't, you don't need to know that your father is an animal in the sack." Soarin's mother said as she came into the kitchen, stroking her husband's shoulders.
"MOM!!" Soarin whined a bit, eliciting a giggle from his mother and laughter from his father.
The last one to enter the kitchen is his brother, he sits at the table with their parents as Soarin finishes applying apple butter to the toast. He then serves the breakfast on pristine white plates, the eggs sunny side up and the veggie back fully cooked, the hash browns were nice and golden brown and the toast was slightly brown and crunchy. Soarin pours himself and his parents a cup of black coffee and gets his brother a cup of juice.
Soarin sits down and enjoys breakfast with his family as the day begins.
"So, where were you last night, really?" His mother asked.
"I was at Rainbow Dash's place, we played video games, ate pizza, and, umm." Soarin started to say but his parents both nodded and said in unison say no more, before joining each other and laughing at the moment.
After breakfast, Soarin decides to go to the gym, his brother watching him get his bag looked up at him. "May I come with you?" He asked.
Soarin just smiled and ruffled his hair. "Of course, little squall, come on." He said as he and his brother headed out the door.
"I'm taking Gray with me to the gym, we'll be back later." Soarin called out to his parents.
"Ok, just don't let him lift anything too heavy." His mother called back from the kitchen.
Hearing the door shut, Misty Cloud smiled and wrapped her arms around her husband who was reading the paper and drinking his coffee. "We got the house to ourselves, why don't we have some fun?" Misty asked, causing Feather to drop the paper and rush upstairs with her.
At the gym, Bulk Biceps sees the new face. "Why hello little guy, you must be Soarin's brother." The muscular white pegasus said, his wings smaller than the rest of him.
"Y-yes sir," Gray said silently, overwhelmed by the energy he produced.
"That he is Bulk, he wanted to join me today." Soarin answered.
"Well then, why don't we get him signed up, I'll give you a discount." Bulk said, as Gray smiled.
"Sure, but nothing too heavy." Soarin said as he accepted the offer.
"Of course not, here's your card." Bulk said as he handed the card to Gray.
"Thank you sir." Gray said as he took it.
Giving out a hardy laugh, Bulk Biceps patted him on the back. "Please kid, call me Bulk." He replied.
"Ok. Thank you, Bulk." He said again.
"No problem, now have fun and don't strain yourself." Bulk said as he went to assist another patron.
Soarin and his brother go over to the treadmills and start working on cardio.
"So, why did you want to come with me to the gym?" Soarin asked as he jogged.
"I just wanted to spend some time with you, I miss that." Gray replied as he jogged on his machine.
Soarin looked down. "I know, I'm sorry if I'm not around as much, but I still love you." Soarin replied, bringing a smile to his brother's face.
A few moments of silence passed until Soarin broke it. "So how are you doing in school?" He asked as he and his brother were finishing their time on the treadmill.
"Oh, I'm doing better, I got a C in math." Gray replied cheerfully as he finished up, the treadmill slowly coming to a halt.
"That's great, little zipper, let's see if we can raise that to an A or B." Soarin replied as he ruffled his brother's head.
Gray laughed as he did. "Thanks, bro. I actually couldn't have done it without you."
"I just helped and gave you a push, but I also struggled at math." Soarin admitted as he patted his brother on the back, taking him over to the weight bench and getting five pound weights for him while Soarin himself lifted twenty-pound weights.
"So, what are your plans after school?" Soarin asked his brother who had an immediate answer.
"I want to be a Wonderbolt like you." His brother replied, admiration in his eyes as he said it.
"Oh? Any reason why you want to be a Wonderbolt?" Soarin asked as he kept lifting his weights.
"Because it looks so cool and I want to be like you." Gray replied.
Soarin couldn't help but smile, but sighed as he put down his weights and placed a hand on Gray's shoulder. "Is that your only reason?" Soarin asked, looking deep into his brother's eyes.
"Yes, I think It'll be cool and fun." Gray replied as Soarin looked down.
Bringing his head up to meet his brother's gaze, he looked at his brother and smiled. "I'm touched you think so highly of me, but if that's your only reason for wanting to join, I implore you to think of all your options. Being a Wonderbolt isn't just about being cool, it's about working together as a team, also is it really what you want? I don't want you to join just to be like me." Soarin replied as his brother looked down in thought.
"Well, I……" Gray stops mid-sentence as he thinks. "I never really put much thought into it." Gray admitted as he hung his head down.
Soarin gently lifts his brother's head with his hand. "Gray, you don't have to be like me, I'm a Wonderbolt because I felt it was my calling, not because it looked cool, I knew I wanted to perform. So just think long and hard, don't make decisions based on others, ok?" Soarin asked as he hugged his brother.
"Ok," Gray replied as he embraced the hug, wrapping his arms around his brother.
Soarin and Gray continue to work out well past noon, seeing that they've been there for a while, Soarin and Gray head out, and head back home.
Upon arriving home, Soarin and Gray Squall enter the house to see their parents on the couch. Their father's arm wrapped around their mother's neck as their mother sits beside him, legs curled up and barefoot. The tv blares the sounds of a popular program as their parents watch intensely.
Waiting for the show to end, Soarin and his brother go upstairs. There, Soarin puts his bag up in his room, adorned with Wonderbolt posters.
Gray Squall enters his room next door and lays on his bed, arms and legs outstretched as they throb. Soarin comes in and chuckles. "A little sore there, bro?" He asks, leaning on the frame of the door.
Breathing steadily, Gray Squall looks up at his brother. "Yeah, but it feels good." Gray Squall answered, panting a bit with each word.
"Just don't overdo yourself, remember to take days off to recover so you don't damage your muscles." Soarin said as he came in. "Only work out like that once or twice a week, with a buffer day in-between." He continued as he sat on the edge of his brother's bed.
"Ok, got it." Gray replied as he sat up. "So, where were you last night?" Gray asked, causing Soarin to blush.
With a chuckle, Soarin ruffled his brother's head. "That's for me to know only, ok?" He answered as he politely declined to answer.
"Ah, big pony stuff, ok." The brother replied, knowing that there are things he doesn't need to know.
"Good, now come on. Let's tell mom and dad we're home." Soarin said as he headed out, Gray following from behind.
Once downstairs, they see their parents getting up off the couch and head into the kitchen, following them inside they make themselves known.
"Hey mom, we're home." Soarin called out as his mother got out a loaf pan.
"Ah, hey, I didn't see you two come in. Sorry about that. So how was the gym?" Misty asked as she preheated the oven.
Gray took a seat at the table. "It was great, I got a membership so now I can go there and work out some more." Gray said excitedly.
"Oh, that's nice, but don't strain yourself and respect Mr. Bulk." Misty replied as she got out some mushrooms and onions.
"I will." Gray said excitedly as Soarin rubbed his head.
"Want any help mom?" Soarin asked as he stood at the table.
"Actually, yes. Could you please sauté the onions and mushrooms, please Soarin?" Misty asked as she handed him the bags.
"Sure thing, mom." Soarin replied as he moved to the stove and turned the heat on low.
"Feather, could you please cook the rice?" Misty asked her husband who eagerly agreed.
"How about me, mom, what can I do to help?" Gray asked.
"Hmm, ah, you can help me crush the nuts." Misty said as she and Gray put an assortment of nuts in a bag and started to crush them.
Once everything was ready, Misty put all the ingredients in a big mixing bowl and started to shape the mixture, mixing in all the nuts, herbs, cheese, mushrooms and onions. When she was done, she placed the mixture in a loaf pan that was buttered and lined with parchment paper. She then placed it in the oven which was preheated to three hundred and seventy-five degrees. When she opened it she was blasted with warm heat as she gently placed dinner in.
An hour later, the timer goes off and the family gets together to eat together. Once dinner is served they all begin to eat. Minutes of silence pass until Feather Skies breaks it. "I've got some good news. I've been promoted at work, this new job will now allow me to spend more time at home." He says as his family smiles.
"That's great news dear, now Soarin doesn't have to help out so much." Misty said, placing her hand on Feather's.
"I really didn't mind, mom, really." Soarin said while blushing.
"I know dear, and I am grateful, but now please do take the time to enjoy yourself." His mother replied, smiling warmly.
The family continued to eat their meal, in silence. When they finished Soarin helped with the dishes, he cleans them thoroughly before putting them away.
Coming out of the kitchen, Soarin scanned the room, his brother and dad watched TV as his mother just sat down to join them. Soarin smiling at the scene decided to join in, he takes out his phone and starts to text Rainbow. He writes, "Hey, Dash. Just gonna chill with the family. I won't call tonight." He hits send, his phone beeping to signal it's sent and he joins his family on the couch.
