My Little Pony: The Draconic Sister - Reboot
Chapter 50 - The Gamer Colt (It Ain't Easy Being Breezies Skip & Maud Pie Add-On)
Previous ChapterNext ChapterA few days ago, Fluttershy got her friends together to get the Breezies escorted safely to their special flower patch and back home to their dimension.
And then just yesterday, Pinkie Pie's sister Maud Pie had visited, though it was hard initially for any pony to connect with her. It was the next day when something crazy was happening.
"A gaming tournament right here in Ponyville?" Button Mash asked. "I'm so in." He added.
"You sure about that Button? Silver Spoon is also entering." Sweetie Belle said.
"Then this will be the best chance I have of showing her up." Button Mash said.
"Wait, Sweetie, you're not going to enter?" Scootaloo asked.
"Even if I do enjoy video games, I'm not as good at them as most of the colts and fillies that will be showing up for this thing." Sweetie Belle said.
"That's a fair point. Of the six of us, Button Mash is the only one who plays video games in any competitive compacity." Rumble said.
"Yeah. I'm taking a back seat on this one. Besides, I think we can best help Button Mash cheering him on." White Flame said.
"Then we better make sure we cheer loud." Scootaloo said.
"I'll have to make sure I cheer the loudest then." Sweetie Belle said.
"Of course, you will." Apple Bloom said, rolling her eyes.
The nearby Ponyville Arcade was packed with colts and fillies of around Button Mash's age.
"Hello and welcome to the Ponyville Junior Tournament. Since Ponyville has been the site of several events already, it was agreed that a special Junoir Tournament that does credit for the overall Junior Championship creditials would be held in Ponyville once every year. And today marks the first edition of this tournament. Some of you come from right here in Ponyville, while others come from places forign. This tournament has exactly 90 contestants, which is a little much to say the least. So therefore, to trim things down, we will start with some qualifying rounds. In these rounds, the lot of you will be assigned a specific game within the arcade that is high score based. After five rotations of your groups, the points you scored in your games will be tallied up and only the top thirty-two highest scores will progress to the actual versus tournament. All tournament scores are final, though anyone who uses cheat codes will be automatically disqualified and we have plenty of onlookers looking for such cheaters." The Arcade owner said.
"Looking out for cheaters is Ponyville's resident Alicorn Princess, Twilight Sparkle." The Arcade owner said going from left to right. "Also on duty is none other than Cream Heart, ex-arcade champion" He added.
Mom was an arcade champion?! Button Mash exclaimed, clearly not expecting his mother to show up to this let alone that little tid-bit. He had been so distracted that he missed the other three watchers.
Button Mash managed to get into the top thirty-two easily, having the second highest score overall. Silver Spoon however...
"YOU GOTTA BE KIDDING ME, I LOST BY TEN POINTS?!" Silver Spoon exclaimed, her jaw dropping as she saw how close she had gotten.
"Oof. That sucks. I wonder how much you'll improve for next year." The colt that beat her said. "I might need to step up my game if a local girl is THIS good." He added.
"...Is that your attempt at a compliment?" Silver Spoon asked.
"It's both a compliment and an invitation: I wouldn't mind sticking around to know a girl with mad gaming skills like you. My gamer handle's Control Hax, but my real name is Max Razor." The colt said.
"...Wait, you don't mean Max Razor, as in the Canterlot Oprhan Noble, do you?" Silver Spoon asked.
"So, you've heard of me. We'll talk more later." Max said and joined the other winners for the tournament.
Silver Spoon fainted shortly after that exchange.
It was nearly sundown when the tournament finally drew to a close with Button Mash having managed to beat all of his competition.
"Phew. I won't like there were some close calls there." Button Mash said.
"Yeah. That looked really tough." Sweetie Belle said.
"He's his mother's child alright." Cream Heart said before she came up to the group of six foals.
"Mom, don't embarrass me." Button Mash said.
"You just won your first ever tournament; I can't embarrass you for that." Cream Heart said.
"Button Mash has skills that's for sure. Some very good ones too." The Arcade owner approached the group. "After reviewing the footage, it was discovered that Button Mash's last opponent used a cheat code." He added.
"Wait, Button Mash's opponent cheated and yet Button Mash STILL beat him?!" Apple Bloom exclaimed.
"...There's tired saying that I know of that seems all to appropriate for this scenario: That Cheaters never win. That said, when that phrase was conceived, I doubt this sort of scenario was thought up." White Flame said.
"Wow, if even White Flame got caught off guard, then you know what Button Mash just did by beating a cheater without cheating himself is super mega impressive." Scootaloo said.
Button Mash smiled. That was true: Beating the likes of that cheater using fair and square tactics really proved Button's skill. There was a small flash on Button Mash's flanks. "Hey look Button: You just got your cutie mark." Rumble pointed out.
Button took alook: His cutie Mark was that of a video game controller. "Whoa. Honestly didn't expect THAT to come of this." He added.
"It makes sense: You pretty much are THE gamer colt at school." Sweetie Belle said.
"Bet I could use my skills to teach others how to play video games the fair and right way." Button Mash said.
"Heh. That's my son~" Cream Heart said before hugging Button.
"...Okay NOW I'm being embarrassed by my mother." Button said.
Every pony just laughed, including Button Mash AND Cream Heart.
Author's Note
There was literally nothing I could add onto "It Ain't Easy Being Breezies" as I want to try and space out the O & O chapters so that they don't become overwhelming. As such, I had to perform my second outright episode skip, though this time not because the narrative would've prevented the events of the episode from becoming a thing, but instead because the only option I could've done would be to have two O & O chapters back to back and if people just want to skip those despite the shipping going on between the CMC fillies and WFG colts during those, then I want to space them out as much as possible. Yet I believe I did something monumental all the same here.
