Sunset Shimmer: Hero of Canterlot City

Dark, starry skies are looming over the city of Canterlot. The night is alive: couples are having fancy dinner dates, music is blaring loudly from the nightclubs, and in the park, The Great and Powerful Trixie is putting on a magnificent magic show.

And in a dark, secluded street several blocks away, a jewelry store is being robbed.

Two people dress in black are behind the register, attempting to crack open a safe and pillage the riches inside. Just outside the store, two gunmen are keeping watch.

"Al...most... there..." As he tried a picked the lock with two needles.

"Can ya hurry it up, Quick Change?" The other one said.

"Shut up, you know these things take time!" Quick quietly snapped back. "Unless you'd like to try it?" He fiddled around with the lockpicks a bit more, until...

*click!*

"Bingo." With a satisfied smirk, Quick Change grabbed the handle and pulled. The door swung open, revealing a large sack filled to the brim with glimmering gemstones. Quick chuckled, his smile growing ever wider. "We hit the jackpot, baby!"

He didn't notice the dark shadow or the two suddenly-unconscious lookouts behind him.

"Yeah yeah, we're rich, I get it, can we go now?"

"You tryin' to ruin the moment or something?"

"No! It's just... you know that costumed hero around at night beating up guys like us?"

"What, that Solar Eclipse or whatever she's called? Pfft, just some urban legend."

"But what if she's real? I'd prefer not to go hand to hand with her!"

"Come on, we could take her on no problem."

"You sure about that?" a third voice asked.

"Yeah, I'm VERY sure ab-" Quick froze. Oh horseapples. Somebody was behind them. Both turned around, hoping it wasn't who they thought it was. Quick's eyes widened, and the crook's face went pale.

Standing in front was a lady that was in her teen years costumed in a red and orange suit with shimmering sun marks with red crystal spikes and a red mask. Her name was Sunset Shimmer but to the criminals, she's Solar Eclipse.

"Hello boys," She said with a cool remark.

Quick Change was snapped out of his trance. "Wha- how-?!" he spat out, quickly glancing at the door and spotting his two unconscious guards.

Solar Eclipse followed his gaze. "Oh, that. Now unless you want to wind up like those two, I suggest surrendering right now."

Both stood up, and while one of them cracked his knuckles, Quick Charge grabs his bat. "Get real!" he shouted.

"Want to play hardball, huh?" As Solar got into a fighting stance. "Bring it."

The man charged at her preparing to strike. The masked hero simply sidestepped and drove her foot into his side, causing him to spin and crash into the wall.

Quick Change approached slowly, taking a few practice swings with his bat. He launched an attack at Solar Eclipse, who ducked the swing. She nimbly dodged and sidestepped the ones that followed, much to his irritation. Until he landed a hit on her head.

"Good job, you managed to hit on me," She remarked as her hands glowed.

"Is that-" Quick barely had time to shout before Solar Eclipse magically yanked the bat out of his grasp and slammed it against his legs. Shouting in pain, he collapsed, grabbing his broken legs with his forearms.

Behind her, the man had recovered and was running towards Solar Eclipse, hoping he could punch her face in. She spun around and blocked the attack. He let loose with a couple more swings that were either blocked or dodged, before receiving a fist to the stomach. She punched around and delivered a solid kick with both her legs, sending the attacker headfirst into a display case where he lost consciousness.

Out of the corner of her eye, she saw Quick Change desperately trying to crawl away. The man gasped loudly when he saw the masked hero glaring at him, and started frantically crawling his way to the door. She snap her fingers, and she vanished.

Quick Change looked ahead and saw Solar Eclipse standing over him. His eyes widened and he started panicking. Using her magic, the heroine lifted the man upside-down into the air, dangling him.

"And just where do you think you're going?" she asked mockingly.

"Why you little-!" Quick pulled out a gun and tried to shoot her but before he could, Solar knocked it out with his hands.

"Nice try, buddy."

"I... I ain't scared of ya!" he snapped back.

"Sure, that must be why you're sweating bullets right now," She looks at his face.

Quick Change gulped. "J-just let me go... lemme go please!" he begged.

Solar gave it some thought then grinned a bit. "Hmm... how about this: I knock you out, and when you wake up in a few minutes, you'll be shackled up by the cops, on way to jail?"

"WHA-?!" was all Quick Change could get out before Solar Eclipse struck him in the face and dropped him onto the sidewalk, where he lay motionless.

Moments later, the police arrived and put handcuffs on crooks, but seeing Solar Eclipse on a rooftop, there she gave them a quick salute and then ran.

"Thanks for the help, Solar."

Later at a nearby house, Solar Eclipse enters through the window, once she enters, she immediately drops her mask revealing her gold skin, aquamarine eyes, and streaks of red and yellow hair.

“Not bad, Sunset, three muggers, an assault, and a bank robbery. But's it getting late I should turn because of my big night ahead at Stables Lab.” Sunset said to herself as she turned into her sleep attire and went to sleep.

"In nature, everything is connected," Stables said while Twilight, Barton, and Sunset look like a pool of swimming electric eels. "As scientists, we must explore and expand those connections, to benefit society."

"We're experimenting, with genetically altered electric eels," Barton explained and both girls smiled as Stables opened the tank.

"Think of the possibilities, if we could harness their bio-electricity. We could generate an alternative source of energy, a clean source of power."

"Sounds promising but you might want to clean the tank," Sunset said while tapping on it.

"Don't worry, the fluid, or I call it sludge, increases the bio-electric signature."

"Which is why we had to upgrade to bio-electric filters."

"We?"

"My mistake, we forcing Dylan here to upgrade." Stables' phone buzzed. "Oh, darn would look at that, I guess we have to wait until tomorrow. My wife needs me to pick up groceries."

"Of course, best seeing your doc," Sunset and Twilight their goodbye.

The next morning, Solar Eclipse was flying through the city and reached the school until she heard a bank alarm go off.

"For once, I like to be on time for school," She exclaimed.

A few minutes later

"Sheesh, what happen to you," Aria Blaze asked while looking at an exhausted Sunset.

"Well, my alarm went off and I overslept and I had to run the entire way over here," Sunset exclaimed.

"Alright, class settle down, I know most of you are eager for you to get your test back," Johnathan said as the students groan.

"Sweet, C+!" Rainbow said as she got hers.

"Man, not another D-, my parents are going to kill me," Dan said.

"Nice job Ms. Shimmer," Sunset received an A+ plus which ticked Trixie a bit when she got a B and picked the closet object and prepare to throw it.

In a quick flash, Sunset's mind showed that Trixie was about to throw something behind her.

"Whoops!" She accidentally drops her paper and then ducks as Trixie threw it only for the teacher to get hit.

"Miss Lulamoon!"

"Nice going, Trix!" Sunset smirked on the inside.

"How is he?" Barton asked Stables as they took Dylan to the hospital last night.

"See for yourself," Stables said as they went inside.

"Hey, Barton," Dylan said.

"Dylan's body is constantly a stream of bio-electricity. The insulation suit will contain it to protect himself and everyone else. But not to worry, we will an on a cure for you."

"Mr. Strangle a moment please," Dr. Jonhtan asked for him as everyone left. " Dan, If you want to raise that grade up, you need a tutor. I recommend Sunset for the job."

"Study, with her, come on, what about Twilight or any other person?"

"Please try to understand, I doing this in your best interest for you."

...

Later at Sugarcube Corner.

"You got to be a tutor with Dan? Why didn't he pick me? I get straight A's !" Twilight exclaimed.

"No offense, Twilight, but when you explain something you go into heavy detail and make people go 'what the buck!'" Rainbow said as the others agreed with him.

"Debatable."

Then Dylan who wearing his suit walked in.

"Yeah, but he's call, not mine, and don't think it's working he is completely ignoring me," Sunset explained.

"Of course, he would the dude as attention spam of squirrel, and science is not his strong subject."

Then suddenly the lights went out and Dylan ran away from the shop.

"Thug alert, okay, Sunset, make it look good."

"Well, it's been fun, but I really got to turn in for the night, and as for Dan, the tutor is for him, not me, if he asked what happened, I went home."

Moments later, Sunset pulled her costume from under her clothes and became her alter-ego.

Meanwhile, Dylan keeps pushing people out of the way and enters a dark alleyway unaware that Solar Eclipse was right behind.

"Hey, buddy, what with lights going out and you running away, is everything okay?" She asked him.

"It doesn't concern you! Now leave me alone!" Dylan created an electric blast and destroy an electronic store.

"Okay, Surge, no need to rain down lighting!"

Then Dylan kept firing at her as her phone she duck behind a poster.

"First Raptor, and now this! Great going Sunset, Self doubt for another time!" As Solar Eclipse glowed her hands. "Alright Surge, I'm ready to do this... he's gone."

The next morning.

"Sunset, there you are," Twilight found at her locker. "I just to Barton, there was an incident at the lab."

...

Dylan's life is trash, not only I didn't recognize him, I attacked him. I tried to help but clearly, I need to do more.

"Oh, Sunset," Dan said looking at her.

"Hey, Dan, look, I felt bad for ditching you earlier. So, if you still want help we can meet up at the Stables Lab, it's up to you."

Later that night at Stables Lab

"Have you tried siphoning the electric energy off of him?" Twilight suggested.

"No, won't work," Stables replied. "Eeels evolve to exist in aquatic enivomermet, Dylan didn't."

"And with electricity inside of him wham! You don't want him around water," Barton said then the door opened showing Dan.

"Dylan, we need you to come back to the hospital," Dr. Ridley said as he was accompanied by two cops.

"I'm done with hospitals, I just want to go home," Dylan shot back.

"Listen, Dylan after last night's little blow-up, it's either a hospital bed or a jail cell. Your choice."

"Here's my answer!" Dylan formed ball lighting and destroy the car.

"Dylan, stop we just want to help you."

"You can't help me, but I know who can."

"Maybe this isn't a good idea," Sunset talked to Dr. Stables.

"No go one, I need to check something," He said then went to his office.

"So, Barton, how it's been?" Dan asked.

"Been great, since I pretty much hang the cleats and now became a full-time nerd," Barton said.

"We all nerds here, and you can be one too," Sunset while holding a hook.

"Wonderful."

"I'm serious, you're smart, you just don't apply yourself. You just look at it a new way," She explained as she grabbed an electric eel. "In nature, everything is connected, as scientists, we must explore and expand those connections, to benefit society."

"Your lucky to have Sunset as your tutor," Barton said. "She knows her stuff, heck, maybe Nobel Prize."

"Let's not get ahead of ourselves," Twilight lightly punches him then the lights flicker then the door got blasted.

"Stables!" Dylan entered furiously then turned to Sunset and the others. "Where is he? You really don't want me waiting, kids. Where is he!?"

"Dylan, I'm right here, try to stay calm," Stables came in.

"Calm?! We're way past the point of staying calm. I can't take it anymore. You casued this, you cured it."

"I promise, I will, I just need time..."

"I don't have time! Cure me now!" His hands charged with electric energy. "Before I get really angry."

"I know you can do it," Dylan threatens him. "All you need is proper motivation."

"I distract him, you three go out the back way," Barton then ran toward him.

"Barton, don't."

Dylan saw him and then zapped him to the ground then Sunset, Twilight, and Dan went out the back way.

"Calling the police," Twilight grab her cell phone and dialed 911.

"Wait a minute, where's Sunset?" Dan asked.

...

"Dylan, please don't hurt him. We'll find a cure, we just need time."

"Liar!" He smashed the table.

"Guys, I know it's not a cure, but about some chill pills," Solar Eclipse said.

"You!" Dylan threw a lightning bolt at her but missed.

"Yeah, it's me, look I messed up really bad, and want to help," She held her hand out.

"You really want to help?" He asked rhetoricity then zaps her. "None of you get it, without a cure, I'm not Dylan, I'm... What did you call me?"

"Lighting Head?"

"Not that, Surge, yeah, I'm Surge!" He unleashed streams of electricity.

"Alright, Surge," Solar glowed her hands. "You want to vent, then vent!"

She hurls a giant rock at him only for him to create a barrier then Surge fire bolt after bolt at Solar but she dodged them all before a bolt strikes her from behind. Then Surge saw Stables and his wife carrying Barton he turns to attack them but not before Solar threw a TV at him and then created a barrier at the door.

"He was only chance for a cure, and let him escape!" Surge screamed at charged right at her with an electric punch but Solar Ecplise dodged and kick him in the chest. "That's it. Now the gloves are off!"

Surge blasted her and send her outside of the lab, then he blasted her again only to be dodged by it.

"That prize money is good as mine," A kid said as Solar saved him from a bolt blast.

"Sorry, kid, the photo shoot's over!" She said then went back to face Surge who kept firing bolts at her.

"Okay, now it's on," She said then put on the rubbed gloves then grabbed him by the leg, and sent him into a wall. "What's wrong can't handle the rubber?"

Surge got up and blasted her straight into a cell tower.

"Me and my big mouth," She groaned a bit.

"Can't escape from their, hot head!" Surge said. "This is my playground."

He went to a cell tower and make the tower glow with electricity.

"Maybe climbing a mounting tower wasn't the brightest idea," Solar said as Surge fired another bolt. "But that is the least of my problems. Okay, focus, I need to short him out completely but how? "

When Solar saw the school's swimming pool then an idea popped into her head.

"How about the world's biggest dunk tank?" Solar smiled a bit then fire two small fire orbs at him and send him straight into the pool where he fizzled out then the police arrived. "That's my cue to leave."

The Next Day...

"Sunset Shimmer as lived and breath," Adagio Dazzle said with a playful tone. "How you been?"

"Not great, but at least Dan was able to learn something, then decided to hang around Duke and the crew."

"You'll be fine, Sunset. you can't control everything. but that doesn't mean you stop trying."

"Where have I heard that before?" She asked as they headed to their class. One day, you will be cured Surge, I promise on my life.
