Ragnarok: Fixing Things

Flurry checked out the fallen Einherjar for any additional information that might be useful to her and Thrud, who was just standing off to the side, thinking about why her own grandfather would want her dead, but there was nothing on them that seemed to be important, to which Flurry beckoned for Thrud to follow her.

"I know you want to return to Asgard and confront Odin about this, but I'm going to suggest that you not do that for some time." Flurry stated, where she could see that Thrud was surprised that she would even suggest such a thing and she placed a hand on her shoulder as a sad look appeared on her face, which had some of her anger mixed in, which was when Thrud realized that Flurry was angry for her sake, or maybe in her stead was more accurate, "You are upset... I was too, when my own grandfather tried to kill me and killed my father... but you cannot return to Asgard in this condition, because you'll just confront him and turn the Great Lodge into a war zone. I mean, I can only imagine your father's rage when he finds out that his own father tried to off you, and is no doubt planning on blaming my family despite the fact that we would be innocent of such a crime... so it's best that we keep this from those in Asgard, at least for the time being."

"I... You..." Thrud says, her tone confirming that she was angry, while at the same time curious as to the story behind what Flurry had just mentioned, before she let out a sigh as she relaxed her arms, lowering the weapons she had been given for her own Valkyrie training, since her father approved of her following her dreams, "Fine... I'll follow your lead. So, does that mean we'll be heading back to your house?"

"Not exactly. We're head to our base of operations." Flurry replied, where she held her hand out in front of her for a couple of seconds and her magic flared to life, though she opened a portal back to the closest Door, since something seemed to be happening in the Realm Between Realms right now, so this was the next best thing, "Come on, let's get moving."

Thrud followed her into the portal, finding that they walked on the branches of Yggdrasil for a time, before reaching the end of the path and stepped out into an area she wasn't expecting to see, a large house with an assortment of individuals, gods and goddesses she realized, who were standing over a number of slain Hel-Walkers.

"Looks like we missed the excitement. Let me guess... Garm?" Flurry asked, because she knew that there was such a wolf in Helheim, and Thrud had mentioned that Atreus, who was standing near their father, had freed the wolf, so it stood to reason that Garm was behind the scene that was in front of them, especially since she had felt something that stopped her from just warping here with her magic earlier.

"Yes. Atreus, Pandora, and I were planning on heading to Helheim to stop him, and I was hoping you would arrive in time to join us." Kratos replied, though at the same time he and the others noticed Thrud standing behind Flurry, where Freya and Mimir, the former holding the latter since the head didn't want to go back to Helheim right now, while Brok and Sindri were quick to recognize her, something Atreus was able to do as well since he was surprised to see her, "Flurry, what is going on?"

"I'm afraid there's been a development." Flurry stated, where she held her hand out and created another crystal that those who knew her recognized immediately, it was a crystal that allowed her and others to play specific memories for others, to which she turned and placed the crystal in Thrud's hands, "They'll believe me, but it's better if they hear the news from you, since you were directly affected by what happened earlier... just think about the memory you want to show and the crystal will respond."

Thrud looked at the crystal for a moment before bracing herself, where they found that an image of her being chosen for the mission was being played, before shifting to her meeting the Einherjar that she was supposed to be joining and then Odin teleporting them to Midgard under the orders to deal with raiders. Based on everything Kratos had been told so far this was just her living out her dream, being useful to the All-Father, since he didn't know what Atreus knew about Thrud, though as the scene unfolded he and the others stood there in silence. This was due to the fact that the Einherjar attacked her out of nowhere, a foul act considering that they were warriors who enjoyed battle, and those from the Nine Realms became far more annoyed when they heard the line that had set Flurry off. Such a thing was followed by her past self landing and then the one-sided battle unfolded as she slaughtered them, killing the Einherjar before they could do anything to Thrud, even if the mental damage was already done, and it wasn't long before her vision of the past was over.

She then found that everyone was annoyed by the information that had been presented to them, even Atreus, who had gone to Odin to try and help him to stop Ragnarok, was shocked by this discovery and what it meant for all of them, and it was Freya who glanced at the others first.

"Someone... anyone... please tell me we didn't just hear what I think we heard." Freya said, because while she knew of Odin's madness, and how he treated their own son, there was a part of her that didn't want to believe this information, that her former husband wouldn't stoop to such a level, and she was looking at the others to see if they had heard the same thing she had heard.

"I'm afraid we all heard it: 'By order of the All-Father, death to Thrud Thorsdottir'... Odin's gone off the deep end. Trying to kill his own granddaughter, just to make Thor drink once more." Mimir remarked, confirming what everyone was thinking right now, the All-Father was starting to become more and more foolish as the days went by, or maybe more insane was far more accurate, and he could see that this discovery had shaken Thrud to her core, not that he blamed her, "It's becoming harder and harder to understand Odin... his moves are making no sense."

"Thrud, why don't you come inside so we can talk? Maybe a cup of soothing tea will help?" Freya commented, because she was sure it would help herself and everyone else that would be staying here for the time being, help them calm down and not explode from the rage they were feeling, even though she knew Kratos' family would expand their rage by killing those that stood in their way, based on what she had seen previously.

"No... no. Loki and I freed Garm, so I should join him and make sure the beast is put down." Thrud said, showing them that she was serious, this mess was partly her fault and she wouldn't feel right just leaving them to fight Garm on their own, who had been chained up for a reason.

Kratos stared at Thrud for a moment before nodding his head, as it was nice to see someone willing to take responsibility for their actions, which was what Atreus had done after returning to them, which was when Ratatoskr jumped onto the Door as everyone turned towards it, using a new Seed to open the way to Helheim. Thrud followed the family through the magical portal, through the Realm Between Realms once more, and then through another Door that brought them to a different part of Helheim, just in time for them to see the large wolf with chains bound over their heads before tearing deeper into the realm it had been imprisoned in. Flurry looked around for a moment and had everyone stop as she pulled out her bow, to which Kratos and her family understood what she was going as she focused on the magical signatures that were in Helheim and tracked down the green ravens that were Odin's unwilling spies in the other realms. In the next instant she loosed one of her magical arrows into the air and Thrud watched as it surged far above them before splitting into a volley of arrows that just rained down on Helheim, ignoring Garm in the process, and once the volley was done Flurry put her bow away before she switched to another weapon.

"Not to show my ignorance, but... what was that supposed to do?" Thrud asked, though at the same time Flurry picked out her chosen weapon, which appeared to be a glaive of some sort, which only made her wonder how many weapons Flurry had in her arsenal, inside the bag she carried at all times, before noticing something strange, "And why don't you use that blade on your back?"

"The arrow barrage is to take out the green crystalline ravens that Odin spreads to the other realms, little spies that report to him on everything that is going on." Flurry replied, all while she spun her weapon around for a few seconds before glancing at the path in front of them, since there was no telling what sort of enemies might be waiting for them, even though she had a feeling the residents of Helheim would take one look at her and just back away, "And before you say anything, the ravens have no saw in the matter... they are unwilling slaves, forced to serve Odin until someone releases their souls, just like I have done to every crystalline raven when I enter a realm. As for the Blade, well, I only use that for worthy foes... or again foes like the Soul Eaters."

"And Garm, a massive apparently soulless wolf, doesn't fit that description?" Thrud inquired, because it seemed like the best weapon to use against something like Garm, based on what she had seen so far, though at the same time she followed the group as they started to follow their target deeper into Helheim, drawing her weapons once more.

"Too easy. The Blade of Olympus is not a toy, and Flurry treats it with the respect it deserves." Kratos stated, as it was one of the most dangerous weapons in his daughter's arsenal, though her sickles, plus the Dragon Cleaver and her new katana, were also weapons that one had to be careful of, and he knew that she showed all of her weapons the respect that each of them deserved, "Trust me, you will know when the Blade is being used."

As they moved forward Atreus got to see the power of the Draupnir Spear, how it could unleash the wind to create grooves in the stones that were around them, allowing all of them to grip onto the new areas to place their hands in before moving to another portion of this part of Helheim. While they did so Kratos asked for clarification, asking if Odin had requested that the beast be freed, where both Atreus and Thrud told him that they had done it of their own free will, as the mask Atreus was forging for him had pointed them at Garm, of that Atreus was sure. Flurry thought about it and told them that the mask was of Giant make, meaning it was possible that it had been enchanted to follow a specific path, meaning the Giants knew Garm would be useful in some manner and made sure whoever put the mask together would have to free him, not because it had a mask fragment, but because the wolf was important. She suspected that it was due to Garm's powers, since he had the power to tear open rifts and could connect the realms together, meaning he was either a counter to Gjallarhorn or could be an ally in case Ragnarok actually happened and they had need of someone with his powers.

As they landed on the ground, however, Flurry noticed that there were some Hel-Walkers above them, where the denizens of Helheim took one look at her before lowering their heads in respect, no doubt feeling Flurry's existence as a Death God, only to depart for another region of Helheim.

"Huh, they did that the last time I was here with Flurry... oh, now it makes sense. She's a God of Death, and we're in the realm that reflects that aspect." Atreus remarked, though now everything about their first adventure, and parts of this one, were finally making sense to him, even though he was still processing the information about his sister's godhood, "So the Hel-Walkers and denizens of this realm would naturally make way for her."

"It is respect and fear... which is what everyone feels when they realize what I am." Flurry states, which was the truth, those back in Greece had feared her after discovering her godhood, while her Norse friends had discovered what she was due to her own foolishness, but she was happy to see that someone had convinced them to accept her, which was either her father and sister or one of their Greek friends, "This is why I hid it from you, brother, because you have yet to get over your fear for my godhood."

Atreus barely had a chance to say anything as Flurry jumped up the stone pillar that was the way forward, which caused their father to use his new spear to strike three points and break the ice that was covering the path, allowing them to climb after her, or fly in Atreus' case since he was making more use of his wings now.

"So... can I apologize for being so scared of you, after realizing what your godhood was? I shouldn't have reacted that way, especially not after seeing how sad my fear made you." Atreus said, though as he said that Kratos held a hand out and had everyone else stay a fair distance behind the siblings, as he could see that they were having a moment and didn't want to interrupt them, plus they didn't have to worry about Garm for the time being, the wolf didn't seem interested in them at the moment, "I mean, you've saved me so many times in the past, often from my own stupidity and despite the arrogance that filled me at one point... you didn't deserve how I reacted, not after everything we've been through since mother passed. You even tried to teach me so many things over the years, and in my arrogance and desire to prove myself I just ignored you, as if my way was the right way and nothing else mattered... you were right, I'm no one's 'Champion', and I was rushing blindly into Ragnarok."

"Come here, brother." Flurry replied, where Atreus found that she pulled him close and gave him a brief hug, showing him that she did, in fact, forgive him and wanted him to know that she appreciated him admitting his faults, something that likely came from his time in Asgard, working for Odin and seeing how things were under their foe's wing, "You might be a right pain in the ass at times, but you are my brother and I will always have your back... and I forgive you, since you've seen the error of your ways. I do have one thing to say, and that's that it's like Faye always said: 'Don't be sorry, be better'."

As she said that, and Atreus nodded his head in agreement, there was a howl up ahead of them as they found Garm running ahead of them, blasting the realm with his icy breath, though at the same time she and her brother glanced at each other as they grinned, both spreading their wings before taking off. Kratos realized that he, Pandora, and Thrud might not be needed at this point, though they continued after the pair as Flurry switched her weapon once more, this time drawing Earthshaker as she spun it around as she dropped out of the sky, bringing it straight down on Garm's back. The sheer force of the impact and the stones shaking around them told Kratos that his daughter had used the magical power of the weapon, causing the earth to shudder and even break in places, just like she had done when she first tested out and used it in combat. While she did that Atreus rushed around the area and loosed arrows down on Garm, utilizing the runic magic he had been taught to blow up the surrounding area, before the two of them combined their abilities in a unique way as Kraots and the others just watched the one-sided battle unfold.

Flurry copied the runic magic and littered the floor around Garm with the explosive type sigils she had seen, which was when Atreus jumped above her before releasing a burst of his dragon's breath down on the area, setting fire to the entire area as a series of explosions rocked the area, and Garm collapsed on the ground in front of them.

"You... you have to be kidding me... they beat Garm that easily?" Thrud remarked, because she knew that Flurry was strong, she had the power to force her father and Mjolnir back, scare Heimdall, and frighten Odin into submission, plus she was the talk of Asgard, but even after all of that she was surprised by what they had just witnessed, "We're not needed, are we?"

"You get used to it. When Flurry gets serious, well, everyone else gets benched." Pandora replied, as she was used to seeing her sister like this, even though in the past she had refrained from standing out too much to let her brother understand how to fight and learn from watching her tear through her foes, but she had a smile on her face, as she approved of her siblings mending their bridges in such a way.

Flurry called out to Atreus and her brother, realizing what she had in mind, landed on Garm's head before driving his blade into his skull, a faint glow coming from the massive wolf, something that caused the massive wolf to shudder and thrash about as Flurry caught her brother with her magic. Garm ran off in the direction of the Door they had used to enter Helheim, causing the siblings to fly around him while Flurry collected the others with her magic, making a magical platform for them to stand on, surrounded by a sphere that her magic held onto. What they discovered was that Garm hid in one of the spots he had wrecked earlier, his chains having fallen off this time around, and when they landed Atreus approached him, only to find that the massive wolf pulled his head out and licked him after he mentioned the name 'Fen', short for Fenrir. The wolf then pulled himself out and showed the family that Garm's coloration had been replaced, as the part of Fenrir's soul that had been inside Atreus's knife had overridden Garm's soulless body, meaning Garm was now Fenrir, and the wolf let out a yawn before laying near the family to let them pet him.

In fact Fenrir got up and sat down when Kratos commanded him to do so, and when he told Fenrir to go home he pawed at the air nearby and opened a large portal, allowing all of them to head back to their home in Midgard, causing Flurry to smile as she imagined what they could do with Fenrir on their side, and wondered what Odin would make of this once he realized another piece of the puzzle belonged to their side.
