Ragnarok: War in Vanaheim

After having Fenrir open the way to their Midgard house, which seemed like second nature to him despite the fact that this was all new to him, Flurry showed him an image of Sindri's place and he pawed at the air in front of him, opening a rift that brought them to the area outside their base of operations, and caused everyone to stare at them in surprise.

"Wh... What did you do?!" Freya asked, as it was one thing to see everything that Flurry and her family had done in the past, but it was another thing for them to see the family and Thrud return with a tamed Garm, before she realized who she was talking to and raised a hand, indicating for them to stop, "Never mind, I'm sure it is as insane as everything else you've done over the years."

"Actually, we just tracked Garm down, roughed him up, and then slipped Fenrir's soul, which was in Atreus' knife, into Garm's soulless body." Flurry stated, where she could see that Mimir, Tyr, and those from Greece had a smile on their faces, because they were either impressed by their plan or knew that she would do something like this, and a few even realized that this placed another piece on their side of the board, "Fenrir's soul took hold and changed Garm into what you're seeing right now... and he's got full control over Garm's ability to open rifts between realms, which we used to get back to our Midgard home, as a test, before coming back here."

"Most impressive, turning such a negative into a great positive." Tyr said, which was the truth, freeing Garm had been such a negative for everyone, for both them and Odin since the rifts could have opened in Asgard as well, but the ability to turn this around and make such a massive win for them showed him why the Giants believed that Kratos' family were the key to Odin's downfall, "Now, what are we going to do with Fenrir?"

"Oh, I can watch over him! I've taken care of plenty of wolves back in Jotunheim." Angrboda replied, where she walked up to the large wolf and they found that Fenrir lowered his head so she could rub the side of his nose for a moment, which was easy for her to do since the wolf in question was quite friendly, even after being captured with Speki and Svanna.

"So, what do we do now?" Freya asked, because with Fenrir on their side, giving them the power of Garm, a boon she had no idea they were even going to get when they let the family head out to deal with Atreus' mistake, they were running low on options of things to do, so she was interested in hearing what Kratos and his family had in planned next.

"It is time. Let us return to Vanaheim and aid Freyr." Kratos stated, as the realm in question was in danger from the Aesir, a fact they had learned the last time they had been there, and he suspected that Odin might have an interest in tracking down the wolves that chased the sun and moon, since the All-Father was focused on Ragnarok and one prophecy likely spoke of the pair in Vanaheim, "Odin is occupying a realm that does not belong to him, and your brother is in danger. Let us push the Einherjar out of the realm and then we can focus on taking down Odin... in a way that wont bring about Ragnarok."

Freya nodded as she and Baldur joined the family as they started to make their way towards the Door, as it was time for the group to return to Vanaheim, though she found that there were more people coming with them than she originally thought, as Thrud was coming to see what her grandfather was up to. In addition to that most of the Greek gods were coming with them, as Artemis and Apollo walked beside Flurry, while Deimos and Hecate followed Kratos, while Tyr also walked with the group, causing Freya to realize that this force would wipe out the Einherjar that were in Vanaheim. As they entered the Door, and started to travel to the realm that Kratos was interested in helping, Mimir told them that he had believed the mask to be a fake, a joke, but after hearing how Atreus was able to activate it he realized that it might be a dangerous object in Odin's hands. Tyr voiced his agreement on that matter, as Odin had tried to torture him about the mask, but it was the one object in Odin's possession that he knew next to nothing about, rather he suspected that it was a way for someone to see into the fabric of creation, and if that was true they needed to get the mask away from him.

When they emerged from the Door Freya found that they were out in one of the watery areas, not in the forest that brought them to Freyr's camp, and that there was only a single boat, but once more she was proven wrong as Artemis and Apollo used their animal legs to leap along the path that Kratos took the boat down. At the same time Tyr and Deimos were carried by Hecate's magic, while Flurry did the same for Thrud, allowing everyone to head through the realm as Atreus took it in, as this was his first time in this realm and he wanted to enjoy it before they were forced to fight for their lives. Fortunately they didn't have to go too far, as there was an area up ahead for Kratos to use two of his spears in, forming areas for them to grab onto and swing into a back entrance for Freyr's camp, and he made sure to dismiss them since leaving a path for their enemies would be a bad idea. As they entered the camp, however, Kratos and the others found that there was no one here to greet them, which was alarming since Freyr's group had been fighting a losing battle, though as they spread out the fire that was in the center flared for a moment, a new figure appearing before them.

There was a bow in his hands and his attire was that of a ranger, mixed with nature themes, though the moment he noticed Freya standing among them he placed the bow on his back, meaning he recognized her and that told Flurry that he might be someone they knew, before noticing an arrow scar in his side.

"Of course, Hildsvini... I was wondering where you went." Flurry commented, as the boar Atreus had nearly killed had just vanished sometime during the last three years, like Freya had found a way to get him to Vanaheim so he could regain his old vanir form, and now it was good to see him again, as that was another ally in their group, "It is good to see you again."

"The honor is mine... though I wish it was under better circumstances." Hildsvini said, where his tone told him that things were happening in Vanaheim and that they were sorely needed, which was understandable given that Freyr's crew was far outnumbered by the Einherjar, plus it seemed like he had been keeping an eye on the camp while his allies were out doing their tasks, "I'm afraid that things have taken a turn for the worse: Freyr and Byggvir have been captured by the Einherjar... and to make matters worse the Celestial Wolves haven't been seen in days, as there's no moon."

Kratos glanced at his children and told Hildsvini that they would deal with the wolves, while at the same time Freya quickly decided to join the search party that was tracking her brother, causing the group to split as Thrud and most of the gods went with Freya, knowing that Kratos' family didn't need assistance, and Deimos stayed by his brother. Such a thing was followed by Kratos using the spear on the wall they had passed by previously, back when they didn't have the weapon, and shattered the rock wall, opening a new path for them to use so they could reach a short underground passage. This brought them to an area that one of the stalkers was in, where this time Deimos stepped forward with his own spear and shield, allowing the family to see that he was just as skilled as he had been previously, as she dodged attacks, stabbed the centaur creature in her sides, and then impaled her at the end of the battle. As he walked away from the creature he admitted that he could have dragged out the battle, but since they were stressed for time, since the Celestia Wolves sounded important, he made sure to end the fight quickly so they could focus on the path ahead of them, all while Atreus commented on the humidity and Kratos had a chance to teach him 'ygros', a little bit of Greek.

There was also a group of gulon blocking the way forward, but the family tore their way through them without delay, leading to Flurry collecting the contents of a golden chest before they headed deeper into this portion of Vanaheim, and while they walked Mimir told Atreus about Freyr's crew since he was curious. As they did so they found that there were barricades from the Einherjar, meaning they held more of the realm than they did during their last visit, though Kratos ignored those as he tore through another wind mark and opened a new passage for them to use. Of course this meant fighting more gulon and a few nokken, the latter being their first targets as usual, and it wasn't long before they were moving again, before Atreus told all of them that they were drawing closer to Skoll and Hati, he could feel them. Their den was definitely ahead of them, to which Atreus and the others found that the Celestial Wolves were sleeping, which made sense due to the fact that one had no orb to chase, meaning they had to find the Einherjar that had stolen the moon.

The other side of the den happened to have a path that brought them through two poison poles, before they discovered an Einherjar camp, which Kratos and his family assaulted without delay, slashing through the warriors that were outside it while Flurry just marched her way into the heart of the camp.

"To the Einherjar that stole the moon, stay where you are and maybe I won't kill you." Flurry stated, though as that happened one warrior charged at her and her father impaled him with his spear, while she noticed a warrior carrying a box that looked scared, where she raised a finger and shook it, indicating that she shouldn't move, and when the figure did Flurry sighed and loosed a single arrow into her heart, before collecting the box with her magic, "Good, let's get back to the wolves."

Of course they didn't leave the Einherjar alone, rather her family decimated the camp with their skills and Atreus loosed a bit of his dragon's breath down on the camp, burning it, and it alone, to the ground as they walked away from the area, quickly heading back to where Skoll and Hati were sleeping. As they approached, however, both wolves stirred a little and Flurry let Atreus do the honors, because now she trusted him to do the right thing, and he stabbed the box with his knife, opening it as a blue orb floated out of it, something that caused both wolves to open their eyes. The black wolf growled at the blue orb and it rushed off into the air without delay, where they watched as the moon returned to Vanaheim before it floated in front of the sun, forming the eclipse that was spoken of in the Giant prophecy of the Celestial Wolves. It was an orange glow that was surrounded by darkness, and the wolves looked at the eclipse for a moment, where Atreus wasted no time in readying one of his arrows before loosing it at the sun to the best of his ability, only it seemed to be magically aided, not by Flurry, as Skoll chased it.

Such a thing caused the sun to move and bring night to the realm, though Hati also had a gift for them, a tuning item that looked like the top of it was made out of emerald, the Key to Dawn and Dusk, an item that would allow them to call on the wolves at all of the various altars, which is what Mimir told them. Flurry knew it would be a good thing in case they wanted to explore the realm and didn't want to find a way around everything, but it might cause problems with the plants and wildlife if they used it too much, something her father and the others agreed with as it was passed to her for safekeeping. The only problem they encountered happened to be a pair of dreki, though Kratos and Deimos used their shields to block them while Flurry and her siblings tore into them, ending in them cutting down their foes as Flurry collected all of their materials, before they retraced their steps back to Freyr's camp. Other than those enemies there wasn't anything for them to worry about, so Kratos and his family were able to reach their destination without wasting too much time, where Freya and the others were getting ready for something important.

Freya confirmed as much, as Byggvir had used the eclipse to escape and now they knew where Freyr was being held, which meant they could finally free him, where Atreus went with Hildsvini as Freya joined the family, while the others were simply an assault force, meaning the Einherjar were totally doomed.

With that in mind the groups headed out to the various areas of Vanaheim that would allow them to assault the Einherjar, while at the same time making the most of everyone's abilities since Freya had the benefits of the Greek gods on her side for this venture, and she even had Tyr helping her out. The path Freya wanted to use, now that she knew about the Key that the wolves had given them, happened to bring them by some of the warriors of Asgard, but just like before Kratos and his family tore through their foes and continued along their way. There were also some wulver in their way, but again they stood no real chance against them as the family cut and slashed through them, and Deimos even joined in once he had a chance to see what the creatures were like, where Freya realized that the full family was just a force of devastation. Eventually Freya brought them to the altar she wanted to use and Kratos used the Key by sliding it around one of the bowls, which happened to be when a surge of light energy emerged from it and they watched as the sky split, night being replaced by day, and that caused some roots to emerge for them to continue forward.

There were some Einherjar in front of them and Flurry eliminated them with a couple of arrows, before they found their way to another small group of invading warriors, which they wiped out without delay, and they even found an alpha wulver, by the name of Blatonn, but the moment it laid eyes on Flurry it cowered and ran away.

"That's not even a surprise anymore." Freya commented, as she was getting used to the fact that Flurry's existence caused all sorts of things to happen, especially since many now knew of her godhood, and even seemingly normal creatures knew she wasn't someone they could mess with, not without being slain in the process.

Following that they made their way into the area that they broke Freya's sealing spell in, finding an area to use the spear in so they could continue deeper into Vanaheim, before finding a gate that Kratos moved out of the way, an altar they freed from the bramble, and a chance to use the Key to change day into night to lower some plants, allowing Freya to use the flare she had prepared as they dropped down into an arena looking area.

"Not very smart, are you?" a familiar voice commented, where Kratos and Deimos used their shields to stop the beast that charged at them, where Flurry found that it was none other than Heimdall riding the beast, though in that moment the smile on his face turned into a frown as he glanced at them, "What the... who are you supposed to be?"

"Deimos, son of Zeus and brother of Kratos, and I am the God of Courage." Deimos stated, to which he and his brother just thrust their shields forward and they knocked the beast backwards, where they stood tall and proud as the Aesir god stared at them and the others, like he couldn't even believe what was going on right now, "Freya, go join the others. We will tend to this annoyance and meet you once we're done."

Sure enough Heimdall didn't seem to care, in fact he thought Deimos was lying as Freya departed, though he soon learned that Deimos didn't kid around, nor did he lie, because he, Kratos, Flurry, and Pandora attacked his stead, which seemed to be the first foe of his battle. They were sure it would have been good in a fight with a single person, since the beast would have a single target to worry about, but with the four of them running around there was no way for it to compensate, which was why they were able to cut and hack into it while Heimdall just watched. With the four of them working together it took them no time to impale the beast and bring it down, something that caused Heimdall to actually kick the fallen beast after it was dead, though that was when Kratos stepped forward and prepared the Draupnir Spear. His plan was simple, he was just going to throw an endless amount of spears and detonate them when Heimdall was close, like a field of hazards, and he was amazed by Heimdall's sheer stupidity as he walked into each one, after having been on the receiving end and witnessed how they worked, causing Flurry, Pandora, and Deimos to sigh.

Such a thing meant he was able to stun Heimdall rather easily, where his first barrage of blows were easily dodged since he was just testing the water, the second ended with him being much faster as Heimdall used his 'new' bracer to block the blow, and his third and final volley was much faster, ending in him hitting the god in the side of the face, cutting his cheek while drawing blood.

"You ACTUALLY hit ME?!" Heimdall remarked, where he sounded surprised by this fact, as if no one has ever been able to hit him in the past, though in that moment he turned around and the realm around them seemed to shift, in the way that told them he was slowing down time on all of them, "Slow down!"

All Pandora did was snap her fingers and the family emerged from the attack, punching and kicking Heimdall as they simply knocked him backwards, though as he looked up at them in surprise Flurry stepped back and let both her father and her uncle deal with Heimdall. She wasn't interested in him at all, because he had no skills, no abilities, and his dagger seemed to have no magic of it's own, meaning he was a boring individual and would make for a boring fight, especially since his ability to realm shift was nullified by Pandora's Time Stone and the time amulets that were in her bag. The only thing she did was use her magic to steal Gjallarhorn, since she knew the end of this before it even happened, and the predictable end came as Kratos stabbed Heimdall in the upper portion of his right arm and pinned him to one of the walls, recalling the spear while leaving one of the shafts embedded in his arm. The fact that he didn't go for the heart meant he was going to spare Heimdall so they could focus on Freyr, though when Heimdall mentioned that he was 'going to gut the runt' all four of them stared at the god as Kratos activated the spear, blasting most of his right arm clean off.

"This is your final warning. Stand down and you may live." Kratos said, to which he turned and regrouped with the others, as he wanted nothing more to do with Heimdall, especially since the horn he was supposed to carry was now in their hands, to which the maddening god did something that sealed his fate, he used the Bifrost to form a new hand and arm, which he then used to punch Kratos' shield and pushed him backwards.

"Sorry sunshine, but you do not get to decide my fate." Heimdall remarked, where they found that he was insane now, the look on his face indicated that all of this, in the span of a few moments, was far too much for his mind to handle and that it had driven him over the edge, only he stopped as Flurry stepped forward and shifted her stance, her hand on the katana this time around.

"Farewell, Heimdall." Flurry says, where she appears in front of the insane god for a moment and draws the katana a little as she makes her move, slashing through his body ten times before he even realized what was going on, and the moment she sheathed her blade the god was reduced to a pile of diced parts, which she incinerated with her magic, "Moron... should have fled when he had the chance."

Following that they headed out through the other gate as Flurry stashed the horn in her pack, where they found that the temple was still on fire and that there were sounds of battle as Freya and the other gods tore into the Einherjar, and Atreus' group was running off with Freyr. As they caught up with everyone they discovered that Freyr was injured and needed to be treated, and most of Freya's herbs for this wound were back in Sindri's, to which Kratos asked where they were headed and learned that there was a small beach area nearby they could use her brother's boat in. Instead of worrying about that he had Hecate open a small connection to Angrboda so she could use Fenrir to open a rift in that area at the right time, so they could leave Vanaheim and be safe for a time, so when Freyr was healed his group could return and continue their war with the Aesir. With that in mind Kratos lifted the wounded god onto his back and charged through the opening in front of him, where he slashed his way through the gulons that came at him, while the archers rained death on the Einherjar, Hecate just blew up sentry towers, and they just laid waste to the Einherjar forces that were in their way.

By the time they reached the beach it took only a moment for Fenrir to open a rift for them, as he poked his head through it to make sure everyone rushed through the rift, entering the area outside Sindri's, and once they were on the other side he pulled his head back through and closed the rift, allowing them to rest, recover, and figure out what their next move was going to be.
