My Little Pokémon: Grander World
The Nimbus Reach
Previous ChapterNext ChapterGalar. Eldridgeshire Vale. Afternoon.
A Subspace Lampent had arrived, revealing itself to be the Pokemon at Nimbus Reach. And due to it being a Subspace Pokemon, it knew that Ash was Prisma's reincarnation from the get-go, the rage boiling within. One more, another individual from that lost universe had shown up.
"You okay, Twilight?" Ash asked her, helping her get up.
"Y-Yes, I'm fine, thanks." Twilight thanked him. The two of them then got to their feet, preparing themselves as they stood in front of this Lampent. It's clear that the Pokemon wants revenge.
"You are the reincarnation of the man called Prisma, aren't you?" Lampent glared at Ash.
"Yeah."
"Wait, what...?" Kimia gasped at this response, soon turning her head to face Ash, surprised that it was actually him. Not only that, she also learned that Lady Sparkle was actually Twilight Sparkle once Ash said her name. "Ash?! Twilight?! It's you two?!"
"You look so much older!" Raleigh added. "Are you sure you're the right people?" He was skeptical since Ash and Twilight are usually teenagers, but now, they're much taller, and have matured quite a bit, and Raleigh couldn't believe it was them. He also couldn't believe that Twilight had a human form, but this was his first time seeing her in this state.
"Prisma...You and your reincarnations should've never happened." Lampet continued. "After what you did, you should've been lost for all of eternity, but here you are."
"Wait, Lampent!" Ash took off his glasses, walking forward and stepping in front of everyone else. "If you have a problem with me, let's go somewhere else, okay? You're gonna hurt everyone else here."
"Hah." The Lampent scoffed. "No, you're not going anywhere. You're in no place to talk about hurting anyone. You singlehandedly brought our entire world to near-destruction. Were it not for Queen Twilight Luminaria's actions, we would've seen a far more grim end. Even the Nimbus Reach would have suffered and never had any chance to return at all."
"I'm sorry for what happened, but Ash isn't Prisma!" Twilight shouted. "My friends and I have promised to make sure Prisma never causes any destruction at all ever again. A lot of us have. Ash is different and you should know that! So please, stop this before you get hurt!"
"Either way, I cannot let a semblance of him remain. Their Majesties would have never allowed it." Clearly, this Lampent was referring to the parents of Twilight Luminaria, since they used to come to the Nimbus Reach. "You seem to be Queen Twilight Luminaria's reincarnation. You of all ponies should know how dangerous he truly is."
"I-I do. And I know that you have the right to feel angry. But please, don't take it out on Ash. Not when we're trying to fix this." Twilight pleaded. "If you really do see me as your Queen, then you'll at least give us a chance."
"Her Majesty feared something like this would happen. A scenario where her reincarnations would default to supporting Prisma. Even the former King and Queen foresaw it. Your words will not work in this instance. I will ensure that Prisma will never return. Not even a semblance." Lampent was truly adamant in his decision.
It attacked once more, manipulating the water once more, and creating a torrent. The water would soon come crashing down. Everyone here would try to run, The whole room trembling as the torrent would strike, but Ash was there. He summoned Sirfetch'd, using its leek as a shield, stopping the flow and defending the crowd.
The Pokemon and Humans all watched with awe, witnessing the amazing ability to stop an attack. It was truly unbelievable and no one has ever seen anything like it. Ash didn't waste a moment, and neither did Lampent.
"Pikachu, use Thunderbolt!"
"Pika!" Pikachu leapt into the air, confronting the Subspace Variant of Lampet. "Pikaa...Chuuu!" From his body, 100,000 flew out, and with that, he managed to stop the water that was going to hit the ceiling, saving everyone below. After clashing with the water, Pikachu tried pushing it back, but this water was clearly not ordinary in any way, shape or form, and Lampent was able to manipulate it however he wished.
Pikachu was having trouble getting the water away, and Lampent was using it to try and attack him as well, a constant back and forth between the two of them. Lampent would manipulate the water to strike at him, but he would dodge or use Iron Tail to strike it.
The Subspace Lampent had control over this spring and would not be giving up anytime soon. Using the mysterious power of the spring, Lampet would then send it to the ceiling. The water would start overlaying the water, creating a giant bubble. It was big enough to encompass the entire Auction Hall.
All the other people and Pokemon here fled, managing to get out in time thanks to Ash and Twilight buying some time. They had no choice but to leave. Now that they were gone, all that remained was Kimia, her little brother, Raleigh and his Pokemon, and Twilight, Ash and Pikachu.
The water then crashed back into the ground, flooding the hall, and with it came Lampent's attacks. With the water, a flurry of Shadow Balls came raining down.
Refusing to let them harm any of her friends, Twilight raised her arm up, utilizing her magic. "Just listen to me!" She exclaimed, raising a barrier and stopping all the Shadow Balls in place. She was able to block every one of the Shadow Balls with ease, soon dispersing them. After dispersing the Shadow Balls, she would reflect the water, sending it back to the Nimbus Reach, causing Lampent to fly out of the way.
Lampet saw this as it immediately turned around, attempting to gain some distance. But it was at this moment that Ash and Twilight decided to advance, heading for the Nimbus Reach now that it was out in the open. That place was the one way they could turn back to their original ages and they weren't going to waste it.
"Ah! Wait, you two!" Kimia soon followed them into the Nimbus Reach as Raleigh and Magearna would be the last to run along.
The Nimbus Reach.
Soon, they were all inside the Nimbus Reach, with Ash and Twilight taking the lead, heading straight towards the spring. There were clouds at their feet, a soft cushion to walk on, and the grass was bright and lush, an environment that seemed surreal.
The clouds were thick, and yet, they could still move as though they were a part of a river. But Ash, Twilight, and the others weren't going to be fooled by that.
They had a goal and that was the spring water. It's the source of everything that's happening, including their youth, and there's no doubt that Lampent was protecting it, not allowing them to get too close.
"Please, listen, Lampent!" Twilight bellowed at the Ghost-Fire-Type. "We just need to turn ourselves back to our real current ages and we'll be gone! We won't cause you any trouble and we won't stay here for long! I promise!"
"If that is the case, then are you prepared for what this Water is capable of? The water here can be used in two ways. A beneficial force and a weapon. For you, Prisma, it can be a weapon and I hope that is the case."
Ash simply narrowed his eyes at Lampent's threats, not saying a word. But it did sound like the water could actually fix this predicament he and Twilight are in. "Well...if they can help us or be a threat to us, we'll take that chance." Twilight spoke.
"Very well. But for you, Queen Twilight...Since you are her Majesty's Reincarnation, I will at least share this valuable knowledge to you. The water you see before you is the Alternate Wave. By entering it, it will show to you alternate realities of yourself and what could become of you in different pathways. The Nimbus Reach as a whole also has its cloud act as a way to manifest them."
"Alternate Realities...?" Twilight looked at the spring water.
"This spring water and the clouds have the ability to create a physical body from an Alternate Reality and bring it here. The other side must want to cross over as well or the water will simply not allow it. The only way for the other side to do that is by sharing a portion of their power. A simple touch is all that is required." Lampent continued, hovering over the water.
"Alternate Realities...? Does that mean..." Ash looked at his hands. If he did touch the water, then...
"Yes. In other universes, there are counterparts of you that can exist. And the reason why those versions of you can come is that you would have to be willing to give them a small portion of your powers. Only then can you be able to cross over to this side."
"But will it turn us back to our original ages at least?" Twilight needed to know that more than ever. That was the most crucial part.
"Yes. It does have that effect, among other things. But I must warn you, your majesty, however, for you Prisma, this is not a warning. There is a chance that your Alternate Reality self will overtake you completely, leaving your true self behind in the waters. Lampent explained, making the whole group gasp.
"What?!"
"There is also a chance that you might not be able to go back if you stay for too long."
"But..." Twilight was at a loss for words, and now, she and the others were in a predicament. The reason they were here was for the sake of regaining their age, but it's not like it's a guaranteed thing. What if the alternate realities of herself take over and replace her or even worse, what if her counterpart tries to trap her here? Her life would never be the same.
Twilight wasn't even sure she could trust Lampent, and yet, his warning sounded sincere, which made it difficult to decide what the right choice was. But they didn't have time to stand around.
"Just to be sure...it's mainly centred around different paths in life that we take. Not another universe, correct?" Twilight had to make sure about that.
"Precisely." And Lamept confirmed it. With that confirmation, Ash and Twilight looked at each other. There was an unspoken communication between the two of them. A mutual understanding. Together, they approached the Alternate Wave, ready to face different outcomes of themselves.
Pikachu, Espeon, Kimia, Raleigh and Magearna all stood back, watching them go.
"This is it..." Ash whispered. He and Twilight would jump in, feeling the water surround their bodies. At first, they didn't feel much, thinking that Lampent might've been tricking them, but they were wrong.
Their minds would be sent to an entirely new space. Everything was black. They felt weightless, as though they were floating. This was a strange feeling. Then, suddenly, a light would appear, illuminating the area. And from that light, a new world would reveal itself.
"Huh..." The moment he opened his eyes, he noticed a huge difference. A major change, a shift in his surroundings. He was no longer in the Nimbus Reach, no. Instead, Ash Ketchum, was standing alone in a vast astral space.
His vision was blurry at first, unable to see properly. But as the seconds ticked on, his vision returned to him, revealing four figures that stood before him. He couldn't see what they were at first. But once he did, a sharp gasp escaped his lips.
"Woah?" Ash uttered out, taking a step back. What was he seeing?
Four people were standing right before him. Each of them all being him. But these four had one thing in common. They all took different paths in life, opposite to the original path. And these different paths created these different versions of himself.
Four Alternate Paths, Four different lives.
One Ash was in a white robe, similar to what a doctor wears, a stethoscope around his neck. He was calm and collected, looking very relaxed. The second one had his arms crossed and a serious expression. He wore a white jacket, black shirt and red pants. A cap was over his head. The third one was more childish, wearing a red hat that resembled his favorite hat. The final Ash was wearing a cape.
Each of these paths were the complete opposite of the path that Ash took. "Are you..." Ash was a little taken back by all of this. Seeing different versions of yourself isn't something normal and yet, this was exactly what happened.
The Alternate Ash's did not say a single word. Instead, the Ash in the Doctor's clothes, stepped forward, raising his arm out. In his hand was a needle, the sharp tip gleaming. "Hey there. Surprised?"
"Woah-ho! You really are other me's! Are you guys, like, some sort of Alternate Me?"
"Yep, you guessed it. All of us took different paths. Right here, I decided to become a Pokemon Doctor." The Doctor Ash tugged his coat with pride.
"Sweet!" Ash was quite amazed, to say the least. The idea of one of himself becoming a doctor was a surprise, and yet, it's possible. The thought of other him's was so odd. He wondered if any of the others have an alternate form.
"Mhm. I'm gonna be the best doctor I can be. I'll aim to be a Top Pokemon Doctor!" He declared, still keeping the same energy Ash usually does. "Not too shabby, huh?"
"Sounds pretty cool. I guess I could've become a doctor too if I wanted, now that I think about it. And how about the others? What's the other Ash's do?"
"Let me start!" The last Ash stepped forward, wanting to introduce himself. He was the one with all that royal getup, crossing his arms and standing proud. "Check this path out. You're looking at the guy who fully embraced being King of the Sea!"
"Fully Embraced? "Ash repeated, scratching his hair.
"Yep. In this path, I'm the King of the sea, who rules the vast seas." This was an Ash Ketchum that decided to stay in the Sea Temple, committing to his status as King of the Sea, living a life of luxury and comfort. He had access to so many different things. "And this crown? It's a symbol of power! Feels pretty good being king, if you ask me!"
"Hm. Never thought about that...." Ash was actually impressed with the kind of path he could've taken. The fact that one of his alternate selves would have be a full-on king was interesting to say the least. "Wait, so you stopped going for that Pokemon Master Dream we had?"
"Well...Kinda. I wanted to protect the seas more than ever, so I decided that being the king would be the best path for me. The Sea Temple was out in the open now and there was no way to hide it anymore. So, I wanted to make sure everyone and the temple was safe. It was a tough call, but worth it."
"Yeah...I could've seen myself doing that..." Ash agreed with his other self's thoughts. If the world was in danger, he'd definitely go the extra mile. But this other version of him seems content and confident in his decision, slowing down his dream in the process.
"I doubt you'd make it that far as king, to be honest." The Second Ash who had a cap on his head and was facing away from Ash. This Ash had a cocky smirk on his face, which was something the main Ash could see. "Becoming a doctor, King of the Sea...I stick to what I want. Becoming a Pokemon Master. And I'd say I'm doing a pretty awesome job at getting there. I'm gonna reach that peak, and I'll do it in no time.
"Hmm...You don't look that different from me." So far, this Ash looked to be similar to the original. It seemed like this was the main path of this other Ash, the same path the main Ash was following.
"Not too different, eh? Well then...What if I told you that I went at it solo?" The other Ash pointed at himself with a cocky grin. "No Misty. No Brock. No May. No one."
"Really?!" The main Ash was surprised. The fact that this other self could have done things without his friends was something that he had no clue about. He had no idea what could've led to such a scenario. "How did that happen?"
"Don't get me wrong, I still met them. I talked to them, spend some time with them...but for the most part, I travelled alone with just me, Pikachu and my Pokemon." His tone was rather upbeat and carefree.
"Man...I couldn't imagine not having Misty, Brock or any of them along at all..." This was the only path Ash was iffy on. He could never imagine leaving his friends behind.
"Not the best but, this could totally be you. If you never ran into Misty on that day, or if you didn't go through all the stuff that happened. Or even if you wanted to travel alone. If that was the case, then you'd probably be on this path."
"I...guess you have a point."
"But hey, it does do one extra thing. I've got a pretty awesome fanbase. Ladies love me too." The other trait of this Alternate Ash was that he was more into his fame. Being the most popular, and not even having to do a thing was definitely an aspect the real Ash would have no idea what to do.
"They do?" Ash had to admit, his other self was a lot different. This path was a completely different way to live life. It was a very unique take, and one of the others caught Ash's eye.
But then there was the last one. The most distant of them all.
The last Ash remained silent, slowly turning his head and locking eyes with the real Ash, his gaze being a lot more stern. The shock of Ash, this Alternate Reality version looked a lot like a certain someone. He looked a lot like Prisma, but there was a difference. He didn't have Prisma's full appearance. Only the age and slight bits of his outfit were shared with the original.
"And him...?" Ash questioned, a bit curious.
"I'm an Ash who's close to becoming Prisma?" He said with a downed yet serious expression, pointing at himself. "This is the one that's around the current time you're in. You're looking at someone that's slowly becoming Prisma."
"You're slowly becoming Prisma?!" That was something Ash did not expect to hear.
"Yeah. You might even end up becoming the Prisma by the end of it." This Ash was not like the others, as the path he took was a dangerous one. "Day by day, I start to look more like Prisma, his soul resonates with me more. I go through so many awakenings that his soul grows stronger. And to be honest, I just accepted it.
"Woah. Is that what's happened in another pathway?"
"This isn't just an Alternate Reality. What you're seeing right now, is something that could happen soon." But this Ash let him know that this one was very much possible, shocking him and even the other Ash's who aren't involved at all.
"Really?! Wait, then what does that mean...?!" The real Ash was now on high alert, a lot more focused on his alternate reality's words.
"Think of me as someone from the future. Not the far future at all. Listen to me. Depending on what happen, Twilight and the other get hurt badly. I saw it all happen. It was so sudden too...Because of this, I awakened a bunch of times, allowing Prisma's soul to grow and grow until he could influence me even more. Then, he starts to merge with me, becoming more and more of a threat."
"What happened to them?! Maybe I can stop it!" Ash asked.
"You have to look out for-" Before he could warn Ash, it happened. His eyes pulsated, a red and green glow sparkling in his pupils, cutting his sentence off. "Gh!" His body would stagger as he clenched his teeth.
"Wait, what's wrong?!" Ash asked, trying to approach his other self. However, a powerful aura erupted from him, forcing Ash to step back, and the same was happening to the other Ash's who were also staggered by his power.
"Gaaagh! It's him...It's him...!" He grunted. "Prisma!"
Prisma was taking over, deciding to show himself for a while, manifesting as a small, dark flame that engulfed his body. He had his arms out, looking a bit annoyed and irritated, his red pupils glowing bright. He was trying to take over. As the flames dispersed, the other Ash's looked onwards to see how this other Ash now had fully red eyes, signifying Prisma's control.
"Prisma..." This was technically Ash's first time meeting him, even if it was just him taking over another Ash. This was his first time coming into contact with Prisma and now, he's seen him take over his own alternate reality's self.
This appearance could even be felt outside of the water, the Nimbus Reach shaking a bit just from the sheer thought of Prisma's existence. Lampent was clearly disturbed and angry, watching the water shake and knowing exactly why.
"You." Prisma pointed at Ash. "You don't have much time left in here. Pretty soon, you'll be back to normal. No one in here has the drive to replace your existence at all. But I do." Prisma was straightforward, revealing that he had the will to replace Ash just to have a chance of returning one day. "What you heard him say is true. I'm more of a possible future that's nearby instead of something in the past unlike these three."
"I'm not gonna awaken again. If I do, your soul's gonna get stronger." Ash adamantly refused.
"So you say. I've awakened three times now. The first was on the Ghost Train. The second was when you saw what Daybreaker did to those civilians. And the third was that underwater area with J. If you count Red, that's a fourth. It's unavoidable, and you know it."
"No way!"
"You're gonna keep awakening no matter what you do. I can't stop that from happening and neither can you." Prisma knew exactly what he was saying. It was a fact, a fact that no one could avoid, including him. "The longer you stay in this space, the more time your alternate self has to take control, and the closer you get to becoming me. Once you awaken enough, that's when the transformation will become permanent and I'll properly return."
"Even if I awaken again, my friends and I are gonna do what we can to hold you back!" Ash declared.
"Hmph. Keep saying that. But either you're too powerless to stop my return...or you begin to see that it's needed. Believe me. You'll see it one day. But more importantly, I even have power over the Nimbus Reach despite being a visage of an alternate pathway."
"Say what?"
"My Power Transcends Mental Constructions, unlike these three. Right now, the Clouds of the Nimbus Reach are attempting to physically create and bring one of these versions of you. On top of that, you can expect to see more outcomes in here. Not just us. With my power, I'll make sure that I get of them out."
"What do you mean by getting one of them out?"
"You." Prisma turned to the Ash who travelled on his own. With a strange light flying out of his finger, he sent a beam that connected with that Ash's chest, causing him to gasp.
"Ah!" And without any chance, that alternate reality version of Ash Ketchum would start vibrating. Right before everyone's eyes, this version of Ash Ketchum was no longer becoming a mental visage. By Prisma's amazing power, he was becoming a reality, separate from the original Ash.
"I cannot take this version of you I'm possessing from here. Not with you around." Prisma looked at the Original Ash. "But I can change that by sending another one of you out there. I'll use him as a way to ensure my revival. Twilight Luminaria has her little Pixies working to do so, so I'll just have my own backup to ensure my return."
"But why him?!"
"I could care less about him. He isn't important to me. No one is." Prisma coldly said. "So, I'll gladly use him as a way to get what I want."
"Gh..Gaaah!" The Alternate Ash cried out as his body was then launched out of the water at full force.
"Oh, no!" But the main Ash wouldn't be able to catch him as he was thrown far out of the water. And because of this, one of the clouds here would begin materializing a physical body for him. The body began taking shape, a clear form forming. The Alternate Ash was taking form, becoming a reality.
Kimia and Raleigh watched as this Ash had manifested. Lampent noticed this and wanted to put a stop to it immediately. "I knew something like this would happen. Accursed Prisma!" Lampent angrily said, manipulating the water to prevent this. He would halt the creation of this Alternate Ash's physical form, trying his hardest to reverse it, using his powers.
The water rippled violently because of this. Inside the water, Ash was starting to turn back as expected. His body was losing that talk and bulky appearance, reverting to what he should truly be right now. He was slowly reaching his age and he could see his original clothes come back on his body.
At the same time, Prisma saw that time was short. He couldn't do much right now as he lowered his hand. "Tch. This is no good. Even though I'm able to manipulate it even at this state, I can't get far like this. But...I can assure you that I'll come back regardless." All the other Ash's were beginning to fade away, the water changing colour. "You'd best be aware. Those close to you and their safety will awaken me once more. I swear it.."
After those ominous words, a bright flash came from the water, enveloping Ash and immediately blasting him out of there. Ash grunted, rapidly flying out as his body would tumble down onto the grassy floor.
"Ash!" Kimia and Raleigh ran towards the young man who had turned back to his normal age, his clothes being the same ones as before. "Are you alright?"
Ash was befuddled, his body twitching from that light. Quite a lot happened in there. He saw Prisma technically, confronting him for a while. Another version of him was almost fully created but was stopped in time by Lampent. But not only that, Ash now had something in the future to look out for. Apparently, something big happens to his friends that warrants an awakening. And this is exactly what Lampet feared and hated as the journey continues.
