The Primordial Magic

Previous ChapterNext Chapter

Equestria. Canterlot. Afternoon.

Twilight learned of something shocking. In Stella Bloom's dream, the world had been destroyed. In another one of her dreams, the world as they know it has been ruined by an unknown force. A terrible time to bring this up considering why Twilight was even here in the first place.

"What?!" Twilight's eyes widened. "What did you say?"

"I don't know what caused it but in one of the dreams, the world was destroyed. And...It was also the same dream where the Antibodies attacked me. They're the ones who did it, and it's because of the Cutie Mark."

"What do you mean?"

"In the dream, I thought I would see a bunch of ponies again. Or even maybe some Pokemon. But I didn't. Instead, I saw what looked to be a human." By saying that, Twilight gasped, realizing that Stella Bloom might've seen Prisma in her dream, even if she wasn't aware that was him.

"A human? Are you sure?!"

"I'm sure. I didn't see his face though, but I know he was there. Do you...maybe have a clue what that means, Twilight?"

"I'm afraid I do." Twilight sighed, lowering her head. "That was Prisma you saw. And that's why I'm here. But the fact that you had that vision worries me. There's no way I want what the Antibodies...and even what Twilight Moonlight and Twilight Luminaria to ever be real. I want to protect Ash, just like how he's always protected me and everyone else."

"I didn't know that. But from what I hear, Ash isn't dangerous, is he?" Stella asked.

"No, no. It's a whole thing with souls and a Lost Universe...It's a bit complicated." Twilight shook her head. "But right now, I need to speak with the Princesses before something bad happens!" Remembering why she was here, Twilight would rush over to the castle.

"Ah! Wait for me!" Stella followed her, the two of them quickly reaching the castle.

Back at Ponyville, Ash's battle with the Antibodies continued and it was getting fiercer. Ash was able to hold his own against the Antibodies, but they were relentless. Pikachu was starting to get exhausted, and the Antibodies were showing no signs of slowing down.

The ponies here screeched as this battle went across spot from spot in the town, items falling over and windows breaking. Ash grit his teeth a Mayor Mare ran over, trying to diffuse the situation. However, just like how they knocked Twilight away, the Antibodies would try and do the same to Mayor Mare.

"Please! Let's talk about-"

"Mayor Mare, look out!" Ash exclaimed, running towards her. The Antibodies fired a ray at the mayor, attempting to send her flying. Thankfully, Ash was able to grab her, pulling her out of the way.

"Oh my!" The mayor yelped, clinging onto Ash. "Not even a chance to let me finish?!"

"They didn't hear Twilight out either. I don't think they're up for listening right now." Ash replied.

"Well, if they're going to cause this much trouble to the town, then they'll have to confront me!" Mayor Mare crossed her hooves, hopping out of Ash's grasp. "Here I thought you were going to do things peacefully, but I suppose not. If you wish to harm Ash, then by extension, you're harming my town!"

The Antibodies stared at her as this sentiment was felt by other ponies. Threatening Ash was practically threatening Ponyville due to how connected he was to it. To the Antibodies, they were in the way as well. Any neutrality they had would be tossed aside, just to eliminate Prisma.

It did not matter if they were innocent. The Antibodies, being the forces of the universe itself, will carry out judgement to what it deemed as far too dangerous. And Prisma was on that scale.

"Now, hold on!" Before it could get out of control, arriving here at time was Celestia. Twilight managed to get her here on time, followed by Stella Bloom. Once present, the Antibodies turned their attention to Princess Celestia, acknowledging her presence.

"Princess Celestia!" Ash called out, looking over at her.

"Twilight told us about the situation. It seems that you have a problem with Ash, is that right?" The Antibodies remained silent in response to her, but they spoke to her telepathically as always, confirming her question. As things settled down, the Antibodies continued to speak with Celestia, letting them know why they were doing this."

They were well aware of Prisma and the danger he caused. The potential of him returning was very much there and to the Antibodies, incredibly high. They believed that Ash was the main catalyst for this. Granted, Red and the other counterparts were a factor in this and they were to be dealt with soon, but Ash was the central focus, his story being the closest to Prisma's.

"I see. I understand clearly." Celestia nodded her head, seeing where the Antibodies were coming from. "As forces from the Universe, it is your job to do so, no matter the cost. However, Ash is not a threat, nor is he Prisma. In fact, the only way we can stop Prisma is by helping Ash."

"Pika! Pika-Pika!" Pikachu nodded his head, agreeing with Celestia and trying to convince the Antibodies. They were more willing to listen to Princess Celestia out of respect, but the rest of the ponies were another story.

However, even with Celestia involved, convincing them was tough. There was no other way to remove Prisma's soul aside from destroying Ash himself, which made this incredibly difficult.

"Princess, I don't think they're gonna budge." Twilight shook her head, knowing that the Antibodies weren't going to change their minds.

"Hm..." Celestia closed her eyes, thinking of a solution. There had to be something, because right now, they were at an impasse. The Antibodies very much had the power to worsen this situation if needed. Celestia wanted to avoid such a thing. No one should be hurt at all. Not even for a moment. Then, two things hit her mind.

There was that 4th Building that has yet to be of any importance along with the mystery 4th Pokemon that should represent it. For a moment, Celestia considered that building as a trump card, but nothing fresh came up. Except for the second one. "In that case...perhaps Stella Bloom and her Cutie Mark can do something about it?"

"Eh?" Stella Bloom gasped as all eyes were now on her. "M-Me?"

"Yes. You and your Cutie Mark." Celestia nodded her head. "If you can speak with the Antibodies, then perhaps you can convince them."

"I...I don't know. I'm not even sure if they'll listen to me. They only listen to you. Plus, I haven't really done anything all that much. My Cutie Mark may be te first of its kind, but I can't do much." She doubted herself, looking up at Celestia.

"You have a better chance than the rest of us. We need you to try. I'll put my full faith in you, Stella."

"I'll try..." Stella was nervous, walking towards the Antibodies. It was time for her Cutie Mark to be put to the test. Even though it was Pokemon-related, it clearly gave Stella Bloom unique traits that she could pull off and now she had to push her limits.

Stella scrunched her mouth, gulping as she stood in front of the Antibodies. "Um...listen. You're here because of me, right? I'm the reason you all showed up to Earth. If that's the case, before you try anything with Ash...instead, try something with me. If it's not a bother, I'd like to sort things out by going straight to the source of it all. The Primordial Magic."

Saying that stunned Celestia, Luna and Twilight. They didn't expect her to bring up the Primordial Magic, let alone ask to go straight to it. After learning about it, Stella Bloom would fall back on that magic as a way to sort things out. Nothing else really came to mind so this was the best she could do.

"Stella Bloom! You want to go to the Primordial Magic itself?!" Luna was shocked. "Do you not realize how critical that is?!"

"I know. But I have to try something." Stella nodded her head. "All of this was caused because my Cutie Mark can change how magic works in the future, especially with Pokemon. I'm guessing it's not just Equestria but the entire world too. Prisma's a part of that as well. So to help Ash and to sort out the future, I think it's best if I go to where all magic can be found."

"But the Primordial Magic is located in the most central part of the universe, as the legends say! Just being near its presence could be catastrophic!" Luna explained. "No one has ever been there. It is the source of all things magical, especially the most destructive forms of magic. It's dangerous!"

"I still want to go through with it. If it means everyone can rest easy for the future." Stella said with confidence. "Please. Take me there and don't hurt Ash."

The Antibodies thought about it. Truthfully, the Primordial Magic played a huge part in all of this. The future will all depend on how Pokemon-related Cutie Marks mesh with the world as well as the existence of Prisma. Thus, they decided on something, speaking to Celestia once more. Celestia understood, nodding her head as she faced everyone else.

"They've agreed to it. But they've also decided on something else. Ash will come with you to the Primordial." Celestia spoke.

"Huh? I'm going too?" Ash pointed at himself, needing an answer.

"Their reasoning is simple. If you are to be near the Primordial Magic, depending on how it resonate with you, specifically with Prisma's soul, they will make up their mind. If the magic itself reacts violently, then they'll deem you a threat. Otherwise, you're safe. Or in their words, you will be left alone until further notice."

"That's too risky though!" Twilight exclaimed. "If it sees him as a threat then it could destroy him anyways! Don't go, Ash! I don't want you to get hurt!"

"Yeah! Don't do it!" Another pony yelled. Many of them objected to it, not wanting to take that massive risk. They made their voices loud and clear to the Antibodies, who were unmoved by their passion. And Ash was moved too, smiling at this. How lucky he was to have such great friends in his life.

"I'm fine with it. I'm not scared." Ash shook his head. "I'm not scared of the Primordial Magic or anything. Plus, I'm gonna totally honest. I wanna see it. It's the source of all magic, isn't it? It d be so cool to see where all magic came from!" He grinned, always eager to see something new and amazing.

"Ash..." Twilight was moved by his bravery, but she couldn't help but worry. She knew how much Ash was capable of, but the Primordial Magic was something else. Even if she's never seen it or been to its source, it was objectively on another level. Luan felt the same way, looking to the side as she did not wish to have Ash go to such a force. "If you're going...then I'm going too."

"Huh?" Ash was surprised, Twilight's eyes showing her determination.

"If you're going, then I'm going with you. I'm not letting you go alone. I'll be there for you. Please?"

"Hm." He smiled at this before looking at the Antibodies. That smile basically said everything. He was always going to let Twilight be by his side at such crucial moments. "Alright. I'm ready to go. We're all ready to go."

Hearing that, the Antibodies could begin their transport. The entire area around them began to distort, the space around them changing. The Antibodies were doing their thing, transporting the group to the Primordial Magic as a cosmic force surrounded them.

"Oh! What's happening?!" Stella Bloom yelped, feeling the energy around her. In a flash, right before the eyes of Celestia, Luna, Rarity, Mayor Mare and the Ponyville residents, Ash, Twilight, Espeon Stella and Pikachu were instantly gone as the cosmic energy would flash in a second. They held their breaths, hoping that Ash would make it out more than okay.

Their bodies travelled through space at ludicrous speeds, passing by stars and planets in the process. Ash and his group were now on a journey that would take them to the source of all magic, the Primordial Magic. Stella's eyes were incredibly wide as this was a feeling she's never felt before or even dreamt of experiencing.

Ash had felt this before when he was being brought to the Light Canvas, so it wasn't a new feeling to him. However, it was still amazing to experience regardless. For Twilight, it was fresh and new for her as well.

"What a ride this is!" Stella exclaimed, holding onto Ash as she felt the speed of their travels.Twilight also held onto Ash, clinging onto his arm as she screeched at the top of her lungs. Meanwhile, Ash simply laughed, loving the thrill of this.

"I think I'm going to be sick...!" Twilight felt her stomach lurch as they accelerated even more, her body weightless and heavy at once, like falling through an endless sky.

They passed through a swirl of galaxies, each more magnificent than the last. Supernovas exploded in the distance, their vibrant plumes of cosmic dust erupting into the void like fireworks. An enormous gas giant spun lazily beneath them, its swirling clouds the size of entire planets, but they were moving too fast to appreciate it for more than a flicker.

Beside Twilight, Pikachu gritted his teeth, trying to steady himself against the tidal force of their speed. The stars around them flashed and vanished, galaxies collapsing into themselves as if they were leaping across not just space, but time itself. He could feel every dimension bending, contorting around their bodies, a sensation like being tugged between existence and non-existence.

Pika?! Pika, pi...chu..." Pikachu whimpered, burying his face into his paws as his tail wrapped around his eyes.

Suddenly, they plunged through a cosmic rift, and the entire universe around them blinked out.

For a moment, there was nothing. Absolute void. Silence. The kind of silence that crushed the soul—an emptiness so complete that it swallowed even their thoughts. Twilight's heart raced in panic, but just as quickly, they were yanked out of it.

Now they were falling—plummeting through something else entirely.

They spiralled through an endless tunnel of fractured realities, their vision swimming as they darted between dimensions. One moment, they passed a landscape of crystalline mountains, shimmering in a haze of violet light. The next, they were spinning through a war-torn battlefield, where colossal beings of shadow and flame clashed under a blood-red sky. The two dimensions blurred together, as if space itself couldn’t decide what was real.

Twilight and Stella both tightly clung onto Ash while looking up at this sight, even closing their eyes at certain points. Twilight caught a glimpse of a colossal storm, swirling with lightning and void-energy, tearing through the fabric of space. Just beyond it, a realm of light, where titanic beings of pure radiance floated among the clouds, their forms barely perceptible through the brightness.

They shot between worlds at impossible speed. Twilight couldn’t keep track of how many times their reality twisted and changed around them, nor how far they were travelling. Each dimension passed so quickly, like pages flipping in a book. It seemed impossible, yet here they were, flying between realities so rapidly that it felt as if the laws of physics were bending to their will.

Suddenly, the air shifted. It was subtle at first, but then everything stilled.

No more explosions. No more worlds flashing by. The rush of stars slowed to a graceful stream of light, and their rapid descent softened into something gentler. They were no longer hurtling through space—they were drifting.

All around them, the stars had faded into soft pinpricks of light. A massive nebula loomed overhead, its colours shifting lazily between hues of violet, turquoise, and gold, casting everything in a serene glow.

And then, they saw it.

The location they had to be at. And to Stella's shock, the area she saw matched what Luna showed her in the Dream Realm. A potential appearance of the Primordial Magic which was a serene grassland. Lo and behold, that's exactly what was shown to them.

"Woah..." Ash's words said it all.

Suspended in the middle of the universe, like an oasis amidst the chaos, a vast expanse of emerald-green grass stretched out beneath them, softly waving as though kissed by an invisible breeze. The ground glowed faintly, imbued with an ethereal light, as if it were alive—pulsing gently with the Primordial Magic that sustained it.

The nebula cast everything in a warm haze, giving the illusion that they were drifting through the heavens themselves. Twilight gasped at the sight. Ash could hardly believe it.

"This is it? This is where all magic started?" Twilight questioned, feeling the ground beneath her. She couldn't believe that she was standing at the source of all magic. And being a huge fan of magic as a whole, Twilight's expression started to shift into that of absolute glee, as if she were a child again. "This is so...so wonderful. I've never seen something so beautiful in all my life."

"Pika..." Pikachu murmured in agreement, his jaw hanging open as he looked around the grasslands. It was truly a marvelous sight, a sight that the Mouse Pokemon had never experienced before.

"Ah...this place is...amazing." Stella nodded her head. It was everything Luna told her it was. Just by being here, she could tell that it was Magic in its purest form. “But it's strange. We’re... standing on nothing?”

She was right. There was no planet, no rock or dirt beneath their feet—only the void, stretching endlessly in every direction. Yet, the grass was solid. Ash bent down, his fingers brushing the blades, and felt the magic thrumming beneath them, like the heartbeat of the universe itself.

"Woo. Awesome!" Ash laughed when feeling the grass. "Pretty nice scenery too, isn't it? I'm getting a sense of déjà vu, actually. Something about this is familiar, I think."

"Familiar, you say? Well, I do see what you mean, Ash." Twilight nodded her head. "I guess since this is where all magic comes from, It would feel familiar to us even if it's our first time being here. Feels like home in a way."

"But hey! Look! You're completely fine, Ash!" Stella pointed out. "You're still in one piece and completely lively, so maybe the magic doesn't see you as a threat."

"Oh yeah...you're right." Ash smiled at the possibility of that being true. That meant that the Primordial Magic was no danger to him, especially when he was so close to it. So far, it looked like Ash was safe.

Ahead, a lake awaited them. Its surface was impossibly still, reflecting the nebula and stars above with such clarity that it was like looking into a second universe. The water shimmered in hues of deep blue and silver, and even from this distance, they could feel the immense power radiating from it.

"Wooow...it's so beautiful..." Twilight sighed in awe. She never thought that there could be something like this. Even Celestia and Luna couldn't fully comprehend the true nature of the Primordial Magic. To Twilight, the lake was a wonder of the world, a mystery that couldn't be solved, something she felt honored to witness.

They wanted to take in this scenery for a while due to how beautiful it was. But soon, the three of them, plus the Pikachu and Espeon would feel a shift. It wasn't like before, though. It was a pleasant shift, and the group was aware that the Primordial Magic was calling to them, inviting them closer.

But in there, something was brewing.

The quiet ripple of the lake sent soft tremors through the air. The group stood at its edge, transfixed by the shimmering water, the cosmic reflection of stars above blurring as the surface shifted ever so slightly. Something was stirring.

Twilight felt it first, a pull, deep in her chest. An invisible force that wasn’t just calling her toward the lake, it was summoning her, beckoning her closer to the source of everything. Her breath caught as the water began to churn, faint ripples cascading outward in perfect circles.

"What is this feeling...?" Twilight wondered as the lake began to glow—a soft, radiant light, like a star trapped beneath its surface. The water swirled faster now, as if some great force was rising from the depths, awakening after eons of slumber.

And then, the water stilled.

Not a sound. Not a ripple.

Nor a heartbeat, everything was silent—too silent, as though the entire cosmos was holding its breath.

Suddenly, the surface of the lake shattered with a thunderous roar. Water sprayed into the air, glittering in the ethereal light as something colossal emerged from the depths.

A hand, enormous and ageless, broke through the surface of the lake. Its skin shimmered with a cosmic glow, as if woven from the very fabric of the universe. Stars and galaxies danced across its surface, shifting and swirling like the patterns of the cosmos itself. Nebulae spun lazily around the fingers, and entire constellations twinkled across the back of the hand.

The sheer size of it made them feel like ants before a mountain—insignificant in the presence of something so ancient, so powerful. The hand reached upward, as if stretching after millennia of stillness, its fingers curling slightly as they touched the air of the grassland for the first time in eons.

"What in the name of Celestia...?!" Stella shouted.

The hand continued to rise, impossibly large yet moving with a graceful, deliberate slowness. It wasn’t just emerging—it was unfolding from the very core of creation. The lake beneath it glowed brighter, the cosmic energy rippling out in waves, causing the grassland to shimmer like the stars themselves were hidden in the grass.

Stella stumbled backward, her legs weakening as the hand stretched out, reaching toward the sky, but it wasn’t aimless. It moved with purpose, as though it were seeking something. The fingers, long and elegant, pulsed with cosmic light. The sheer weight of its presence pressed down on their souls, the magic in the air vibrating more intensely now.

And right now, it acknowledged the presence of Ash and his friends.

Equestria. Ponyville. The Pokemon House.

Over at Ponyville, Fluttershy paced back and forth as she was with Applejack and Rarity, who waited patiently for their friends to return.

"Oh dear...do you think they'll be okay? I'm getting more and more worried as time passes. Do you think that Ash and the others are okay?" She was concerned for her friends and the possibility of them not making it back home safe and sound.

"Mmmrgh..." Applejack sat down, grumbling with uncertainty and worry. "Ah' don't know what's going on. But if we sit 'ere for any longer, I'm gonna start buckin' up dirt."

"That's the truth." Rarity sighed. "But we have to wait and hope for the best. They've come from terrible situations before. But there's something about this one that rubs me the wrong way. If all that magic sees Ash as a threat, who knows what will happen? Even though he's not the main issue, it might not care."

"...Maybe it won't care for just Ash, but what if...?" Fluttershy had something brewing in her mind. "Just in case something goes wrong and Ash still shows up, I say we show the Antibodies the others."

"Others?" Applejack and Rarity collectively said.

"It only sees Ash as a threat right? But remember. It's 10 of them that have Prisma's soul inside of them. If we can get Red, Ethan and the others and show the Antibodies that they're all working hard to make sure Prisma doesn't return, perhaps that'll ease things up a bit."

"You might be onto something, Fluttershy." Applejack smiled, nodding her head. "But finding all of 'em? A tall task, don't ya think."

"Maybe. But we can try. I say we gather the rest of the gang and find Red and the others. If I had to guess, they're probably in other universes right now since Hilbert brought that up." said Fluttershy. She was aiming to travel to other universes just to get the other trainers on board.

"Hmm..." Rarity nodded her head. "I suppose that means we're having a Universal Field Trip then? Not too bad of a concept."

They knew what they had to do. For the sake of their friend, they would go to other worlds just to grab Red and the others. Would it be worth it? That was for them to find out as at this very moment, Ash, Twilight and Stella stood before an unknown hand from the source of all magic as the journey continues.
