My Little Pokémon: Grander World
The Conflicted Moon
Previous ChapterNext ChapterUniverse 50. Mirados.
The City of Mirados. After arriving at this high-tech city by accident, Ash and his friends were promptly met with the law of this city, ready to be given a plethora of questions that needed answering.
Raleigh sat in another room to be interrogated. But he was not alone in this room. To his surprise, Twilight Moonlight was the one next to him, sharing the same interrogation room. Incredibly awkward, as Twilight Moonlight did play a part in Kimia's capture along with the capture of many others.
Twilight was not an emotional girl. She didn't let anger or fear consume her, even when she was sitting right next to her former enemy, Raleigh. She didn't have the time nor the desire to engage in pointless arguments. Instead, she was looking at him. Her eyes locked onto his, her face remaining a neutral mask.
Despite the tension between them, Raleigh could not bring himself to stay angry. His mind was too filled with thoughts of his missing sister. He had to focus on her and the others. That was what was important to him right now.
"Why am I next to you?" Raleigh said with a disgruntled expression on his face.
"I didn't ask to sit next to an enemy." Twilight calmly responded. "I would have loved to leave, and I could, at a snap of my hooves. However, I'm not that type of Pony. Not right now anyways. My mission is on hold for...an unknown amount of time."
"Where's my sister!? And all my subjects?! And all the Pokemon from the Nebel Plateau!" Raleigh leaned forward, his anger rising back up.
Twilight Moonlight sighed, shaking her head. She knew Raleigh was upset, but she didn't have the usual strength to give a strong retort. After learning about how her existence was only possible because of Ash, she was more distracted by those thoughts. Still, she didn't want to show it, so she remained as calm as possible.
"Universe 12." She suddenly spoke, deciding to spout out something. "That's where my universe is and where you'll find everyone else."
"Raleigh was caught off guard. He didn't expect her to spill the beans like that. "Why would you tell me so easily?"
"I..." Moonlight tried finding the words, but when it came to situations such as this, she was stumped, unsure of what to do. In fact, Twilight Moonlight wasn't even sure why she said that out of nowhere. It was almost like she was just blurting it out. Almost instinctively.
Before she could say anything else, Delilah entered the room.
"Okay. Sorry for the wait. Let's begin the questioning." She spoke, her eyes on both of them. She knew that these two weren't exactly on good terms, but right now, she had to focus on the job at hand. She was going to question them both, and she had to keep her composure.
But immediately, Delilah sensed the tension in the room. She was quick to notice the way Raleigh was glaring at Moonlight, and the way Moonlight was trying her best to remain calm. It was clear that these two had some little history, and it wasn't the good kind. Delilah knew that she had to tread carefully if she wanted to get to the bottom of this.
"Hmm...In that case, out you come, Gothitelle. Indeedee." By taking out two Poke Balls, she released her two Psychic and Fairy-Type Pokemon, ready for them to do their thing. They were here to scan their minds, using their telepathy and psychic abilities, and to see if they were telling the truth or not. Emotions also played a strong part in this and these two excelled at it. "Alright, you two. Let's get started. The Chief already told me a bit about what he's heard. You two aren't supposed to be here at all, correct?"
"I should be somewhere else, saving my sister and my subjects." Raleigh spoke up, getting straight to the point.
"I should be capturing a boy, a boy who is one of the reincarnations of Prisma. Well, right now, I was just trying to return to my universe, but a temperance prevented that and now I'm here." Twilight Moonlight answered.
"Okay, I see. I'll let Gothitelle show me everything." Delilah said, looking at her partner.
"Goth." Gothitelle stepped forward, focusing on Raleigh and Twilight Moonlight. Her eyes glowed a deep purple colour as she began to read their thoughts, emotions, and memories.
As the psychic link was established, the human and the pony felt a strange sensation, as though their minds were being opened and explored. Memories of their lives, their hopes, their fears, and their secrets were laid bare before the powerful Pokemon. It was an unnerving experience, and neither of them were particularly comfortable with it.
Gothitelle, on the other hand, was completely focused on the task at hand. She sifted through the memories and thoughts of the two, searching for any hint of deception or ill intent. She was looking for anything that might indicate they were a threat to the city or its inhabitants.
The process took several minutes, and when it was over, Gothitelle broke the psychic link, leaving the human and the pony feeling a bit disoriented.
"Did you figure anything out?" Delilah asked her Pokemon, hoping to get some answers.
Gothitelle nodded and began to communicate telepathically with Delilah. "Gothi... Gothitelle."
Delilah listened intently, and her expression grew more serious as she learned what her partner had discovered.
"Thank you, Gothitelle," Delilah finally said, turning her attention back to the human and the pony. "Well, she saw it all. Looks like there's a lot of conflict with you all. Mainly, you being the attacker. Twilight Moonlight, is it?"
"Y-Yes...." Twilight Moonlight was surprised. She was expecting to have to defend herself, but it seemed like she didn't have to say anything at all. That made it easy for her, though.
Delilah continued, her voice calm and composed. "So, why did you attack this boy and his kingdom?"
Twilight Moonlight felt a bit of guilt rise up in her. She wasn't expecting to be called out like this. She was a powerful magician, but even she had to abide by the laws of other universes, even if her own universe had given her permission to do what she had done.
"I was under orders from my superiors. He's a reincarnation of a man known as Prisma, a powerful Trainer who's destined to destroy all of existence." Twilight explained, her voice steady. "I'm not proud of what I've done, but I had to follow orders."
Delilah raised an eyebrow. "That sounds a bit extreme, don't you think? Destroying all of existence?" She turned to Raleigh, who had been silent during the exchange. "And you, young man, are you aware of this?"
Raleigh shook his head. He didn't know what to think. It seemed a bit ridiculous to him that his good friend Ash was capable of such destruction. To him, Ash couldn't do such a thing, even if Prisma is involved.
Indeedee sensed their emotions and saw that they were telling the truth, nodding at the officer, letting her know that there were no lies.
Delilah continued. "So, you both were fighting because of this...Prisma situation?"
"Yeah. I'm his friend. I'm not gonna let anyone hurt him. I promised that to myself and him." Raleigh stated, his eyes narrowing. "He's the most important person to me, and I'll do anything to protect him. I'm not going to let anyone get in my way."
"And you're after Ash, who is one of the reincarnations?" She asked, getting a nod from Twilight Moonlight. "Okay, so you're trying to stop a disaster, but the only way to do so is by hurting a boy. A friend of his."
Twilight Moonlight looked away, shifting her eyes. "Yes. That is my mission and the mission of many. Even since I was a filly, I've been dedicated to that goal, joining the Arcaen Institute for that accomplishment to become a reality. But recently..."
"Recently"? Delilah leaned in, raising an eyebrow.
"I've been thinking about something. I learned that my existence...the entire existence of the Arcane Institute and those involved has all been possible because of the very person we wish to stop. I only exist because of Ash Ketchum."
"Eh?" A confused Raleigh responded, taken back by this. He was unaware that Twilight Moonlight was listening to Strident Heart's words in secrecy. But Moonlight would reveal it all to him.
"Back at the Nebel Plateau, I was left behind by the Arcane Institute after the battle. I'm unsure if it was on purpose or not. But as I was there, I heard what that angel had to say. She revealed to me that because Ash made that wish to Jirachi, it didn't just merge both your worlds as one...it revved and practically created new worlds, including mine...And even this one."
"Y-You heard all of that?!"
"Yes. Universes with Pokemon existing with Ponies were brought into existence. My universe was one of them. I believed that I had always been there, but in reality, the very person I'm targeting is who brought me back. When I learned of this, I was beyond blown away. I never expected to learn such a thing, let alone from an enemy. I still have no idea what to make of it."
"...I'm sorry, are you saying that our world is a part of this wish?" Delilah blinked, caught off guard by this. Their world did have Pokemon and Ponies coexisting. The very thing that was brought up. Completely blindsided, now Delilah was itchig for some questions, but he would have to wait for them later.
The Arcane Institute began their search for Ash, Nate and Hilbert across this behemoth of a city. All the many Betas and Zetas flooded the bustling streets, greatly confusing the citizens. To see multiple girls with the same face and style was rather confusing and concerning for a few, but they were just trying to blend in as best as possible. It wasn't too easy with the amount of girls in the Institute, so they were definitely noticed by the crowd.
"My. Is there a costume party we don't know about?" A mare spoke out, curious about the sudden appearance of these identical girls. Many asked similar questions, wondering if there was a special gathering or a trend going around. They all had their theories, but the truth was a lot more bizarre than what they could ever come up with. Some were just plain weird and out of nowhere, like a massive cult.
"Oh, doesn't this just look fabulous?!" The main Zeta stopped to admire the city's items. This one, known as Zeta Prime, was the one who was the representation of Kimia's attraction to fabulous items. "Look at this city. It is so... Beautiful. It's just perfect."
"I'm not sure you should be wasting time admiring the scenery. We are on a mission." Beta Prime spoke out to the prime Zeta, wanting her to focus, just like all the other Zetas and practically everyone else.
Zeta Prime turned her attention to the other, smiling as if nothing was wrong. She wasn't concerned with what she said, only looking forward to her task. "Oh, I am aware. I will have no problem capturing these targets. I will make the Professor proud. It's our first time on a mission, so let's do him proud."
"I am certain. Just don't let your self-confidence be a hindrance. The targets are still powerful and will not hesitate to stop us if we are discovered." The Prime Zeta simply giggled, walking off to begin her part in their plan. "I won't." She said.
While the others were doing their own things to capture the targets, the Prime Beta was keeping a close eye on Zeta Prime. Her eyes were narrow, watching her closely to ensure she wasn't doing something that could endanger the mission. "Zeta Prime is being very confident about all of this." She thought, her eyes narrowed further.
Zeta Prime was always so self-assured about everything she did, and she wasn't sure if this was going to work out. Zeta Prime had a plan of her own, one that would ensure that they succeeded, and it required them to all be working together to make it happen. But even then, it would be difficult.
Zeta Prime's plan involved the use of an elaborate setup, with the Betas and Zetas being placed in various locations around the city, and all of them being able to communicate through a psychic link. They would be able to see and hear what each other saw and heard, so they could coordinate their movements and actions.
The Prime Beta had a feeling that this plan was not going to go well. "It seems like this is a lot more complicated than we anticipated. I hope she knows what she is doing." She was worried, but she wasn't sure what else they could do.
The Arcane Institute was going all out. This city was large and was home to many people. If a fight were to happen here, then they would be putting a lot of innocent lives in danger. The Prime Beta didn't care for that, so long as she and her kind were the ones to come out victorious.
And then there was Alpha. The real leader of these Soul Trainers, staying mostly silent and stone-faced, representing Kimia's calm and collected side. But she had more than just Kimia's collected side. Alpha, being the first of all the Soul Trainers, had an extra perk to her.
"...One of them is near." Alpha spoke, sensing one of the counterparts. It was an ability unique only to her, and something no one in the Institute was expecting. "It is one of them."
"One of the targets? Here?" Prime Beta questioned, hearing what was said. She walked up to Alpha, standing right next to her. "Are you absolutely certain? This could be a false alarm. Perhaps a dud." But she shook her head, showing no signs of a false alarm.
"I know it." Alpha said with confidence. "Most likely, they've already been here for more than one day. Prior to our arrival, no other human has been spotted. Everyone in this city are ponies and Pokemon." She explained, her voice remaining calm and neutral. The others were listening, paying close attention. "Which also means that there are those that know of their presence here."
"So...Are some of them hiding them?" Beta Prime asked.
"Not at all. This is a universe not a part of the Universal Alliance, but these residents know of the two humans. Start asking questions while we advanced on the two of them. If they resist, you know what to do. Your Gardevoirs will be able to expose any and all truths, such as how the magic from our peers can do the same." Alpha ordered.
The Prime Beta was still unsure. She had no doubt about their abilities or the skills of the Gardevoirs. But these targets are more powerful than any of them, and they would not be easy to defeat or capture. Not to mention that there were four Twilights to keep an eye out for. She had a feeling that Zeta Prime had her own plan for these four. She wasn't sure what it was, but it could be a plan to get them captured. "Understood." She finally said. "I'll begin immediately." She turned to face the rest of her peers. "Begin questioning the residents! Make sure they tell the truth and don't hide anything from us!"
The Quantum Park.
A large park that existed within Mirados's northern section. It was an incredible place to have fun in. With beautiful scenery, waterfalls and a lake that had a bridge crossing to a small island. Many different Pokemon species lived within the Park. It was an incredible place, with a wide variety of Pokemon that lived in the area. It was a great place for Pokemon Trainers to relax, have fun and even train for upcoming battles.
But the real appeal of this place were the Hoverboard Zones. Quantum Park had an expansive Hoverboard Arena that attracts riders of all skill levels. The Hoverboard Zones are arranged in skill levels, each with a unique layout inspired by the curves and shapes of dragon anatomy. The park features an extensive network of winding tracks that are perfect for riders of all levels. The tracks are carefully maintained and offer a thrilling experience that can challenge even the most experienced riders.
And right now, two certain trainers were enjoying such an attraction. That being Hilbert and Nate. They were on these hoverboards, moving at incredible speeds. It was an intense experience and a thrilling one. The two of them were on a track designed to be difficult. It was a challenge that neither of them was prepared to back down from.
"This is so intense!" Hilbert exclaimed, as he was riding along at high speed, his eyes wide and his heart racing. He had a huge smile on his face. He loved the feeling of the wind rushing past him, and the sense of freedom it gave him. The board itself felt almost natural, like an extension of himself, allowing him to move in a way he never had before. He was able to move in a way that seemed almost effortless, as he was able to navigate the curves of the track with ease. It was a feeling unlike any other, one that made him feel truly alive and free. "I've never been so pumped before!"
"Same!" Nate said with a laugh. "I've been to a lot of places, but never have I been to a place that has hoverboard parks! I'm having so much fun!"
"Careful you two!" There was a third person here. It wasn't just Hilbert and Nate who showed up here a few days ago. Hilda was here as well. "You guys might end up flying right into the water! Or crash!" Hilda called out. "You guys have only been here a couple days! I don't want to have to explain to your parents that you both drowned in water because of this! I'd never hear the end of it!" The other two just ignored what she was saying. "Ugh... Boys."
"Hey, Hilda! You sure you don't wanna join in on the fun?!" Nate asked, turning his head for only a moment. He was just trying to show that he knew what he was doing.
"I'm good! I'd rather be sitting here and enjoying this view instead of almost falling apart!" Hilda shouted out, keeping her eyes on them. "You guys should slow down before you end up hitting someone!"
"Whoa!" Nate said as he swerved to the side, narrowly avoiding a collision. "I think we might need to slow down. It's getting a little too crowded." He was having fun, but the thought of running into someone else on the track was not a pleasant one. "I don't want to end up running into someone else, and we don't know this place all too well."
Hilda sighed, relieved. She was hoping that the other two would listen to reason. She didn't want them getting hurt. "That's good. You guys need to slow down." She said as she watched the other two.
The two of them had slowed down significantly. Nate and Hilbert were still on their boards, but the speed was a lot lower. The two of them were still having fun, but they weren't going nearly as fast as before.
"Hah! Lighten up, Hilda!" Hilbert hovered over. "I mean, I've already gotten the hang of this thing. But that's only natural coming from the best of the best." Being his usual self, Hilbert proudly pointed his thumb at himself, wearing the usual smirk. He was a little cocky. But he had the skill to back it up.
"Hm." Hilda lowered her eyes, lightly kicking the hoverboard Hilbert was on, making it wobble. He wasn't able to maintain his balance and fell off.
"Gagh!" Hilbert cried out, falling on his back. "Oouhh..."
"Still, being here is a rather safe option. This universe isn't a part of the Universal Alliance and it's been doing its own thing for years. I think we'll be safe here." Nate said, hoping that they would be safe from the Arcane Institute.
"For now. But they're so good at tracking you and the others down." Hilda pointed out. "It's all because of your souls. But there's no way to avoid that at all..."
"Hey, hey. Relax." Nate smiled at her, waving his hands to ease her mind. "I think that this time, we'll have plenty of time before they catch up. It's a big universe after all." Hilda just looked at him and sighed, knowing that he was probably right.
"And besides! Let's goof off as much as we want here. Starting...with that!" Hilbert pointed at a massive billboard promoting a certain something. Something that was highly popular in this entire city.
The Mirados Circuit.
An annual, multi-day racing event that combines high-speed hoverboard, vehicle, and aerial races through a challenging course that weaves through Quantum Park, the city skyline, and even temporary tracks projected just outside Mirados.
Hilbert's grin grew wide at the sight of this billboard. It showed off a massive group of people on hoverboards. They were racing on these boards, moving through a giant race track that looked incredible. The track itself looked very futuristic and had a lot of snazzy effects. There were giant, floating platforms and obstacles that the racers had to maneuver around. And that was just a tiny bit of it they could see.
"You're telling me we should enter that?" Nate questioned, looking at the massive poster. "I dunno if I'm cut out to enter something that grand...Well, aside from Pokemon Battling."
"Pfft. That won't matter." Hilbert chuckled. "This'll be a breeze. Besides! I wanna show the entire city that the Unova Champ is here and will participate in this! We'll be the talk of the town! If I can be amazing in one universe, I'll be amazing in thIs universe as well!"
"No harm in doing it, I guess." Hilda sighed. "Well, as long as you don't go overboard. Hilbert." She side-eyed him.
"Oh, come on! Have some faith, Hilda!" He chuckled. "I'm wild, but I can control myself. No one's gonna get hurt."
"Oh, but you most certainly will." A voice replied to Hilbert, coming from above. The trio looked up, their eyes immediately meeting with someone who locked onto them. Or rather, a few individuals.
Alpha, the main Soul Trainer, stood on a rooftop with three students behind her. Her words were right. She did indeed know where they were. The students with her had been searching around and asking many residents about these boys, especially the Betas.
"I'm sorry. I don't think we caught that. We will?" Nate asked, not taking what she said seriously. "And just who might you be?"
"Alpha. Soul Trainer of the Arcane Institute. And the one who captures you both." She bluntly said, her eyes narrowing as her mission was about to begin. Once hearing this, Hilbert and Nate's expressions changed. So much for being safe in this universe. Already, the Arcane Institute had found them.
Universe 12. The Arcane Institute.
Home of the Arcane Institute. Twilight Sparkle still sat in the container, thinking of a way to escape as soon as possible. She was going to break out, but it would be too risky to do it right now. She'd need a little more time. But what could she do? Her magic was being limited within this liquid and even if she did break free, she'd be facing against many powerful mages who were all trained by the Arcane Institute.
But before she could come up with something, one of the many staff members wearing a helmet entered this room. Things seemed unassuming at first. It looked to be another staff member coming to check up on the captured Princess, making sure things were going smoothly.
But, that was far from the truth. By removing the helmet, the face of the pony behind it surprised Twilight Sparkle.
It was Skyblue Shine.
A genuine shock. A face she has not seen in so long. But more importantly, a face she didn't think would come and help her. But being a pony who is used to travelling from world to world, this was not an issue for her. No matter what, Twilight had many friends and allies to count on and this was one such example as the journey continues.
