The Chase across Mirados

Previous ChapterNext Chapter

Universe 12. The Arcane Institute. Afternoon.

Twilight Sparkle saw a friendly face at last. But one that she expected. The one to find her and come to her rescue was the Android Mother, Skyblue Shine. Wearing a uniform within this Institute, she showed her face, surprising the young alicorn.

"S-Skyblue Shine...?" Twilight silently said, still in a bit of shock. This was her friend. What was she doing in a place like this?

"Princess!" She said in a hushed whisper, running over. "I am so sorry! Are you okay?! I'm sorry I didn't find you sooner!" The girl quickly began to fidget with the container, finding a way to unlock the thing.

"H-How are you even here?!" The princess said in a hushed voice. "Why are you dressed up like this? How did you even get in?! What's even going on?!" The girl had a lot of questions to ask, but there was little time.

"I've been in this world a few times. Even though I stopped working for Empress Twilight, by benefits of travelling from universe to universe are still with me." She said. "Once I heard from the speakers that you had been captured, I had to come to this room right away. After they all went on their mission, of course."

"So...how long have you been in here?"

" A few months. I've done well to blend in and stay discreet. Now that I work for Princess Celestia, it's my duty to ensure your universe and any allied with the Universal Alliance are safe. Now then...I can't exactly get you out right now, Princess Twilight." Skyblue Shine said. "I can easily destroy this container, but that would just alert the entire Institute of what's going on."

"Well, then, what can you do?" The Princess asked. "I need to get to the others! They've sent them to another universe and who knows where?!"

"You need not worry. The best thing to do is try and fool them into thinking you've been released by the enemy. I'll just leak some footage and claim that a break-in happened." She said. "But you will need to do a lot more. They will be hunting you down, of course, and they'll probably think you were freed. I can make a fake copy of the footage."

"And what do I do?" She asked. "There's only me here. If I face off against the Arcane Institute on my own, it would be a massacre on their part."

"I've got some help from a couple of ponies." The blue pony replied. "They'll be here in a couple of minutes. Just sit tight." She said before running back over to grab the helmet. She quickly placed it on and walked out. She had done her job, but now she needed to do more.

But even with Skyblue Shine heading out, Twilight Sparkle still aimed to find her own way out of this mess. The girl was smart, but she was a genius. She needed to be free. The container was still drawing power from her magic, which meant that it needed to have some form of energy inside to function. She just needed to figure out a way to disable it.

Otherwise, by the time another one of her counterparts is potentially captured, it will be too late.

Universe 50. Mirados. Nightfall.

Hilbert, Nate and Hilda all looked up at Alpha and the other students who had found them. So much for staying safe here. Alas, no matter what, they were always able to track Hlbert, Nate and all other counterparts. Even with the distance, no matter where they went in any given universe.

The Soul Trainers were very efficient and capable at their jobs. So it was no surprise they managed to locate the duo so quickly.

"Is that the Arcane Institute?!" Hilda exclaimed. She was shocked, yet also unsurprised at this. She knew how capable the Institute was. She had been warned many, many times and had witnessed their abilities first-hand. Now, she was staring straight at the one responsible for tracking down the duo.

"Finding you was never a problem. As long as the souls of Prisma exist, you will always be found." Alpha replied, her eyes narrowed at the trio. She raised her hand and gestured to the two. "You'll be coming with me, whether you want to or not. Otherwise, I will destroy you both here to save up more time."

"Not gonna happen." Nate simply said, pulling a PokeBall out from his belt. "I'd rather be dead than be captured and experimented on." Hilbert was quick to pull his own Pokemon out, holding a PokeBall. "Let's do this!" The boy was prepared to fight his way out, if that was what it was going to come to. "Go, Reshiram!"

"Come forth, Zekrom!" Nate said as well.

With a mighty throw of a ball, the two massive Legendary Dragon Pokemon appeared. Zekrom, with a roar, landed on the ground, making the earth tremble from the weight of the mighty beast.

"Wait, you two! Not here!" Hilda cried out as the citizens of this park were already alarmed by the sudden appearance of these two Great Dragons of Legend. The park-goers all started to move back from the scene, watching in surprise.

Reshiram, a majestic and fiery-looking dragon, was a stark contrast to the dark and imposing appearance of Zekrom. The two dragons stood side by side, emitting a sense of power and majesty that captivated those present.

"Wow!" A bystander gasped as the two dragons towered over the crowd, their magnificent forms filling the air with a mixture of awe and apprehension.

"Quick, take a picture!" another onlooker shouted, capturing the moment on his phone. The image of the two legendary dragons standing together in a futuristic park would undoubtedly make its way around the city, creating a buzz among enthusiasts.

"Are those things even real?" a young girl asked, tugging at her father's sleeve with a look of wonder in her eyes. Her father nodded, unable to hide the excitement in his own voice as he replied, "Yes, honey. They are Reshiram and Zekrom, the dragons of legend. It's not every day you see something so extraordinary!"

As the dragons continued to interact, the park became a spectacle, drawing the attention of both the locals and tourists alike. People gathered from all corners of the city, eager to catch a glimpse of the legendary creatures.

The sight of the dragons together was a rare and captivating moment, one that would forever be etched in the memories of those who were lucky enough to witness it. It was a reminder of the incredible diversity of the universe and the awe-inspiring creatures that call it their home.

The dragons were ready, roaring at the opponent. They were ready for battle, even if the opponent was Alpha. The trainer of the two boys, the one responsible for the tracking and capturing of them.

The citizens in the park began to scatter and move away, while some stayed and watched on in the distance. Alpha looked at them, raising an eyebrow, but then looking back at the two.

"These two will not be a problem. The Institute has prepared for such Pokemon." Alpha said, confusing the two Trainers. Before they figured out what she meant by that, the students of the Arcane Institute already cast a spell.

A magic circle formed, a massive rune that glowed with an intense purple light. The light became brighter and brighter as the bodies of the Twin Dragons would stagger and jitter. The magic circle would cause pressures across the park and even cause many to feel discomfort.

The circle's magic glowed with a bright, pulsating light that seemed to penetrate the air around them. The energy emanating from it caused a sensation of unease and foreboding in those who witnessed it. As the magic intensified, the ground trembled beneath the two dragons, their bodies tensed and rigid as if bound by invisible chains. The dragons strained against the force holding them in place, their roars of defiance echoing through the park.

As the spell took hold, it became clear that this was no ordinary magic. It was a powerful enchantment designed to contain and control even the mightiest of creatures.

Despite their struggles, the twin dragons remained trapped, their freedom stolen by the arcane power unleashed upon them. As the spell neared completion, the light from the magic circle reached its peak intensity, bathing everything around it in a blinding radiance.

Finally, with a thunderous boom, the spell reached its culmination, sealing the twin dragons within the confines of the magic circle. Silence descended upon the park, broken only by the distant echo of the dragons' final roars of defiance.

"What did you do?!" Hilbert shouted. "Reshiram! Come on!"

"Zekrom!" Nate exclaimed.

The two Dragons roared, trying to move and break out of the trap. But the magic was far too powerful. There was nothing they could do. Even a Dragon as mighty and powerful as the two Great Ones was unable to escape.

Alpha jumped off from the building, her eyes focused on Hilbert and Nate. With a hand gesture, the students jumped off too and followed her, aiming to capture these two.

"Your Pokemon are caught in a spell designed to restrain these Legends." Alpha explained. "The Arcane Institute has no time for petty battles, only the mission matters."

"Grh! Return, Reshiram!" Hilbert promptly recalled his Reshram while Nate brought back his Zekrom. "Let's see how you do without magic!" The Trainer brought out another Pokeball, preparing for a battle. Nate too, brought out a PokeBall.

"Moving is the first option right now!" Hilda suddenly grabbed the arms of Hilbert and Nate. With great haste, the three ran away from this location and to another part of the park, away from the crowd. Hilda wanted to avoid the citizens from being hurt. If they were going to battle, she wanted it to be in a safer place.

"H-Hey! Wait!" Hilbert cried out, wanting to battle them right away.

"After them." Alpha ordered the other students to follow. With a quick motion, the entire army chased after them.

Thus, a great chase across the city began. Three humans running away from an army of students with magic.

The group ran through the city. Hilda had let go of the boys' arms by this point and the two boys ran alongside her. The citizens of the city were running away, panicking at what was happening. With a massive group of individuals chasing the trio, it was no wonder why everyone was in a state of fear and confusion.

"What are you doing?! I say we battle them right now!" Nate exclaimed at Hilda, his eyes focused on the path ahead. The streets of the city were now bustling with people trying to get out of the way, while others stopped and watched the chase unfold.

"Not around here!" Hilda yelled back, glancing over her shoulder at the pursuers. "We need to find a safer place to battle, somewhere away from innocent people! I know how wild you two can get!"

"But they're catching up to us!" Hilbert added, his voice filled with urgency as he looked behind him and saw the group gaining ground. "If we keep running, they'll eventually surround us and it'll be game over."

"Exactly! That's why we need to find a better place to battle them, and fast!" Hilda insisted, scanning the cityscape for an ideal location. As the chase continued, the streets became narrower, and the buildings seemed to close in around them.

"I don't know how much longer we can keep running like this!" Nate said between breaths, his legs starting to tire. The adrenaline had kept them going for so long, but it was beginning to fade. They were in an unfamiliar city, being pursued by an army of people, and their chances of escaping unscathed seemed to grow dimmer with each passing moment.

The real challenge came from how complex this high-tech city was. The trio had little to no experience with this kind of city. There were so many places and so many ways they could escape from. It was very difficult to figure it all out.

The vast city stretched out before them all that gleaming metal and neon lights seem bigger than before. Buildings towered above, each looking far bigger than what they saw prior to this. This was an absolute juggernaut of a city, no doubt.

Hilda's eyes shifted rapidly, searching for an exit or a place where they could lose their pursuers. As they rounded a corner, a flickering neon sign caught Hilda's eye. It read 'Nebula District' in bright, glowing letters. "This way!" she called out, leading the boys toward the district. Hilbert and Nate hesitated, unsure if following the sign was the right choice. But they had no time to think, so they sprinted after Hilda, trusting that she knew what she was doing.

The Nebula District was just as grand as the rest. It was a place where the city's residents came to experience the future. All kinds of futuristic holograms were placed on the walls, depicting scenes from distant galaxies, while robotic vendors stood by, waiting for someone to make a purchase. On top that, the area was filled with the sounds of electronic music playing in some spots.

As the trio continued to weave their way through the bustling district, their pursuers closed in. The sounds of shouting grew louder, and they knew they were running out of time. "In here!" Hilda shouted, leading them toward a towering building at the heart of the district. It was the tallest and most impressive structure in the area, its exterior covered in glowing, multi-colored panels that shifted and moved like the surface of a liquid crystal.

Inside, the building was a maze of holographic corridors and stairways. Hilda led them through the labyrinth, using her quick thinking and instincts to guide them. The building seemed endless, with countless rooms and levels, but they didn't dare slow down. The group continued to climb, higher and higher, until they finally reached the top.

The rooftop was an enormous platform that overlooked the Nebula District, providing a breathtaking view of the city's lights and neon signs. After a while, they came to a halt, finally pausing after their long and frantic chase. "We can't stay here," Hilda warned. "They'll find us eventually."

"Man! I hate running!" Hilbert grit his teeth, hating the fact that he was running from an enemy rather than fighting. He'd much prefer to battle them. He would've loved the idea of taking on the Arcane Institute's forces and defeating them one-by-one. However, he couldn't risk the safety of the citizens of the Nebula District. That was his reason for going along with the plan of running.

"Yeah, I agree." Nate replied, hating to run from a challenge like that. He'd prefer to stay and battle them as well, though he understood why they were doing so. The Arcane Institute were not above causing harm to others to achieve their goals. He didn't want to get the people here caught up in their battles. It would've only caused them to be more angry with the trio and cause more problems in the end.

They needed to escape from this city as quickly as possible, find somewhere to fight, and defeat the Arcane Institute's forces. But where would that be? How would they get there? And how would they escape? Those questions ran through Nate's mind as he considered the best course of action. They needed a plan. A solid, foolproof plan to make it through this ordeal.

That's when something caught Hilbert's eye.

A few hoverboards were spotted, parked against the walls of a door. Out in the open and available to be sued. "Aha!" He said.

Hilbert's sudden excitement broke Nate's train of thought as he turned to see the hoverboards lined up against the wall.

"Are you kidding me?" Nate couldn't believe what Hilbert was thinking of doing. "We can't steal them!"

"We're borrowing these, Nate!" Hilbert grinned as he grabbed one. "Besides, the owner will be fine! We just need to escape!" Without hesitation, the boy stepped onto a hoverboard as he began to ride it across the roof. "Hey, Hilda! Let's ride out of here!"

Hilda was a bit unsure but decided that she didn't have much of a choice in the matter. She walked forward and took the next board, while Nate followed her. Soon enough, the two were on the boards. With Hilbert's guidance, they started to fly off the building. "Urgh, fine!"

"It's always a good excuse to use these again!" Hilbert said with excitement. The three of them took off on the hoverboards, soaring into the sky and leaving the rooftop behind.

They flew high above the buildings, the city expanding out before them like a vast sea of lights. As they raced through the sky, the intense rush and adrenaline was kicking in, the wind whipping through their hair as they moved with speed and precision. Hilbert was at ease, using the experience he gained from his first time on the Hoverboard. Nate too, found that using a Hoverboard came to him pretty naturally. His time on a Bicycle had given him some of the experience needed for this.

"...Hm." Alpha looked up, seeing the trio zoom away on the hoverboards. Her expression didn't change much. The other students around her were unsure what to do.

"We can't catch up with them like that! But maybe if we use Gyarados and Druddigon..."

"No need." Alpha stepped forward, locking onto a Hoverboard that was currently being used by someone else. With a motion, she kicked the Hoverboard, breaking it and sending the rider spiraling out of control.

"Wah!" He screamed.

After knocking him off, she would grab the Hoverboard, using it as her own. Granted, she did just damage it, but that was where yet another benefit of Kimia's traits came. Much like Kimia, Alpha was automatically gifted with the skills of tampering with technology and machines.

The Soul Clone girl fixed up the hoverboard, allowing her to get back in control of the vehicle. All it took was a few hand movements as her eyes would glow. Shining a dark blue, she observed the makeup of this hoverboard, rubbing her hands against it. With ease, she reversed the damage before it could get any worse.

Alpha took a moment to analyze her options. Without hesitation, she made a decision and turned to her subordinates, who stood by expectantly. "Split into teams and follow me," she instructed. "I want everyone to move fast and with purpose. We'll cover more ground that way."

As she finished her instructions, Alpha mounted her hoverboard. "After them, now."

With that, the students dispersed into smaller groups and began their pursuit of Hilbert, Hilda, and Nate. Each group had their own hoverboard, allowing them to move swiftly across this insanely massive city.

With ease, Alpha managed to get a great handle on the hoverbards in just a few seconds. As soon as her subordinates split up into teams, Alpha zoomed forward, her hair streaming out behind her as the wind rushed past her face. And as a bonus, due to her tampering with the hoverboard, she managed to increase the speed capacity.

Her subordinates were hot on her trail, each group moving with a singular purpose. The city's buildings whizzed past them in a blur as they navigated through the labyrinth of steel and glass.

It didn't take long for Alpha to locate her targets once again. Her keen eyes caught sight of the trio weaving in and out of traffic on their own hoverboards. "I've got you now," Alpha muttered under her breath.

The chase was on. Alpha followed them through a long tunnel where many vehicles passed by. The sound of hoverboards zooming past and cars honking their horns filled the air. The trio's hoverboards were pushed to their limits as they maneuvered around obstacles and dodged incoming vehicles.

Hilda and Nate struggled to keep up, but Hilbert maintained a lead, his eyes locked on the exit ahead. Alpha remained close behind them, never losing sight of her targets. The tunnel finally ended and the group burst into an open, busy street.

"Yeesh! She's gaining fast!" Hilbert looked back and noticed Alpha closing in on them. She was now only a few meters behind Hilda and Nate, who were lagging slightly behind him. "Ah, forget it! I'm not about to chicken out!" He then took out a Poke Ball, ready to take action no matter the circumstance. "Help out! Braviary!" Throwing his Poke Ball into the air, he sumoned his Braviary, who could keep up with the hoverboards and battle at the same time.

"Braviary!"

"Use Air Slash!" Hilbert shouted.

"Bravi!" By flapping his wings, Braviary unleashed a barrage of sharp blades of wind at Alpha, trying to keep her from catching up. She effortlessly evaded the attack, swerving her hoverboard left and right to dodge the gusts. However, the move caused a strong ripple as the wind slammed against the buildings nearby.

The impact caused shockwaves that shattered glass and sent debris flying. Alpha's hoverboard wobbled as she fought to regain control, narrowly missing a chunk of falling debris. She looked over her shoulder at the destruction, her face grim.

She didn't care much about the damage that Hilbert's Pokemon were doing. Only the mission mattered.

"Hilbert...! Braviary...!" Hilda growled, her eyes blazing red, matching the heat of a volcano.

"S-Sorry! Not much we can do about that!" Hilbert said as he and Braviary nervously giggled.

"V-Viary..."

Alpha's hoverboard skidded to a halt as she looked up to see that Braviary had caught up to her, unleashing an Air Slash attack that narrowly missed her head. She ducked, the wind from the attack ruffling her hair as it flew by. She quickly recovered and swerved her board to avoid a series of falling debris caused by the blast.

As Alpha continued her pursuit of Hilbert, Nate, and Hilda, her focus was unwavering, even as Braviary continued to unleash attacks at her, she skillfully navigated her way through the obstacles. She had to admit, these three weren't bad trainers. She could feel the power emanating from the Pokemon they commanded. Their tactics and coordination were impressive, Alpha had to admit.

Hilbert and his friends continued their desperate attempt to escape Alpha's pursuit. Hilbert, on his Braviary, unleashed a series of powerful aerial attacks to try to deter her, but she remained unfazed, her focus solely on capturing her prey. Alpha knew she couldn't let her guard down for a second. She continued to follow closely, her determination to succeed fueling her every move.

As they continued their pursuit, Alpha noticed something strange. Hilbert and his friends seemed to be leading her towards a more open area, free of the obstacles and debris that had hindered her earlier. She narrowed her eyes, suspicious of their intentions, but kept on their trail.

The chase led them into a large courtyard in front of a towering, sleek building made of metal and glass. It was the heart of Mirados, the very center of this massive, bustling metropolis.

The area was usually packed with ponies going about their daily lives, but the sight of three young Trainers and a mysterious girl on a hoverboard sent them scattering.

News of this eventually reached the law, also known as the Mirados Police Force. Their interrogations with Ash and their friends were promptly stopped, much to the chagrin of the chief.

Ash, Raleigh, Luna and everyone else in different rooms would hear the alert go off. "What's this...?" Raleigh asked.

The police officer in front of them stood up. "A major emergency in this city." Delilah explained. "Sorry, we're gonna have to pause the interrogations to deal with this."

"Ah-ah. You'll have to stay here, Delilah." The chief suddenly brouoght a projection to the room, adressing Delilah. "It looks like we have a Speeding Situation. Some kids are using the hoverboards recklessly on a whole 'nother level and they are damaging property! But if you do go by any chance...here's what they look like."

He changed the projection, revealing a live footage of the situation at hand. It depicted Hilbert and the other two on their Hoverboards. They were all speeding away from Alpha and the Arcane Institute students. The group was currently zooming through the streets of the futuristic city.

"W-Wait!" Raleigh exclaimed. "I know one of these people!" He stood up quickly, walking over to the projection. "That's my big sister! And...Hilda?!" It caught Raleihg off guard. He saw someone that looked like his sister alon with his first-ever crush, Hilda.

"...Big sister? I thought she was in another world!"

"Please! You have to let me go see her, Miss Delilah!" Raleigh pleaded to Delilah, his eyes shining with desperation. "She's my sister! And Hilda! She's a close friend!"

"Raleigh, I-"

"Please! You can interrogate me all you want afterwards! Just let me see them!" Raleigh was practically begging, his voice filled with emotion. He couldn't stand the thought of being separated from Kimia and Hilda again. "You have to help me find her! You can do whatever you want, just...!"

Delilah could sense Raleigh's genuine desperation in his voice, but she hesitated to agree immediately. She knew that her duty as an officer came first, and allowing Raleigh to join them could be seen as favoritism or even interference in an investigation.

"Alright. Since that is your sister, we will go to her. So far, you've proven yourselves innocent." Delilah nodded in udnerstanding. "But we'll come back here later."

"Let me go as well. Those ponies...they're my classmates from the Institute. I need to speak with them." Twilight Moonlight wished to do the same. Delilah would grant her that request as well, bringing the both of them to where the situation was at. She also contacted the other officers in the police department and let them know about the situation.

Many officers were off, getting on their vehicles as well and speeding down to the center of Mirados to where Hilbert, Hilda, Nate, Alpha and her students were. But as they were all departing fro the station, rapidly oving to make sure they don't lose them, knowing how big their own city is, someone else had arrived in secret.

Outside of this large station, the BlueLight Sisters had tracked Ash down, and they had a feeling he was inside of this station, so they were waiting outside. At least until the rest of the officers were off.

"Found him~" Phantasia smirked, sensing his soul. Even in the presence of a Police Station, the Institute were prepared to launch their attack. All the while, Alpha begins her aggressive pursuit. This city was unaware of what was truly coming.

As the journey continues.
