My Little Pokémon: Grander World
The Tenacious Alpha
Previous ChapterNext ChapterMirados. Nightfall.
The chase continued across Mirados. As the winds whipped furiously around Alpha as she pursued her three targets across the city. Her face stayed serious the whole way through, weaving expertly between buildings and dodging obstacles that threatened to impede her path. Hilbert and his friends, Hilda and Nate, rode on hoverboards alongside him. They were also pushing themselves to their limits, desperate to escape their pursuer.
Alpha's mind was focused solely on completing her mission. Capture the Trainers, and don't let them get away. That was her main objective and she would stop at nothing to fulfill it.
Up ahead, Hilbert and his friends continued to race ahead of Alpha. Their hoverboards glided smoothly through the air, allowing them to reach incredible speeds. Despite Alpha's best efforts, they were managing to stay ahead of her. "How come we can't outpace her?!"
Nate's voice held a tinge of anxiety, urging Hilbert and Hilda to maintain their pace. His mind raced with worry, imagining the dire consequences should they fail to evade their relentless pursuer.
"I'm going as fast as I can!" Hilda yelled, feeling her legs beginning to tremble with the exertion of keeping the board at such a high speed. Her chest heaved, lungs burning from the effort of maintaining their blistering pace. Despite her physical discomfort, Hilda refused to yield to her exhaustion or give up any ground. If they allowed themselves even a momentary lapse in their speed, it was clear Alpha would catch up to them in seconds, putting an end to their desperate escape.
In the lead, Hilbert felt all that adrenaline coursed through his veins. He navigated effortlessly, using his instincts honed by countless hours spent adventuring in various regions. Although he wasn't physically exhausted, Hilbert's nerves were on edge as this wasn't something he could easily bypass.
"Hey! Lady! Can we just stop and chat for a moment?!" Hilbert proposed.
The situation had spiralled so far out of control. Alpha was insistent upon pursuing him and the others no matter what.
"No. We will not chat." Alpha replied, keeping herself on a pursuit, not letting herself slow down or come close to stopping.
"Ah, seriously?! What did we do?!" Hilbert asked. "Is it really just because we're Prisma's reincarnation?! You really don't care if the whole city is destroyed, just as long as we don't cause a mess?"
"That is correct. Your escape is not acceptable. It will not be tolerated." Alpha's voice echoed from her own hoverboard's internal communication systems, responding to Hilbert's question without a moment of hesitation. She did not slow down her hoverboard and refused to come anywhere near his own.
Alpha remained steadfast, intent on her pursuit and indifferent towards the consequences of her actions. She was a force of nature, an unstoppable juggernaut with only one objective in mind—to capture her targets at all costs, no matter what destruction was caused.
Alpha was unfazed, she would go to no ends to try and capture Prisma's counterparts, and she did not even bat an eyelid. Alpha continued to pursue the group.
"Hilda, I need help over here!" Nate shouted. Hilda was more experienced with the Hoverboard than Nate was and Nate found himself struggling to catch up. As they continued their high-speed chase through the futuristic metropolis, the city's gleaming structures blurred by in a cacophony of colours. They had been at it for what felt like hours now. As Alpha and Hilbert traded attacks, Hilda stayed by Nate, trying to help him keep pace.
"Braviary! Use Sky Attack!" Hilbert's Braviary soared higher into the sky, its body enveloped in an ethereal blue light, resembling the atmosphere. Hilbert pointed at Alpha, who was still a few hundred meters away from them on another hoverboard.
She dodged the attack with ease. She wasn't about to slow down for anyone, no matter what, and that made it really hard for Hilbert's Braviary to hit her with his moves. He was still trying his best though, he was not going to just give up. "How did she dodge that?!" Hilbert yelled when his attack didn't land.
Amidst this magnificent backdrop, a colossal structure emerged from the distant horizon, standing tall, its gleaming surface reflecting the vibrant colours of the beautiful Moon. Its sheer size and presence dominated the skyline. This colossal structure was the Tower of Mirados. A giant, towering clock tower in the centre of town, and the biggest clock known to ponykind, and was also the tallest structure in Mirados.
They were approaching this tall clocktower now, and it seemed Alpha was ready to change her strategy.
As Alpha drew closer, her eyes would glow yet again. While Kimia was the baseline, she did have the skills of multiple trainers. Some of which were ponies. And due to this, she had access to unicorn magic. With ease, Alpha casted a spell.
From her hands, she summoned forth a sphere of condensed air. Within this compressed orb, currents of air spun in a cyclonic frenzy, growing tighter and faster. As the air whirled within, its temperature dropped rapidly. The surrounding area became engulfed in a chilling aura, creating a visible frost that encrusted every surface. Within the core of the sphere, an eerie blue light emanated, casting a spectral glow onto everything around Alpha.
As Alpha's magic infused the sphere, it reached its pinnacle of power. The air within grew increasingly cold until it finally coalesced, transforming the entire mass of swirling wind into solid ice. She raised her arms skyward, releasing this powerful projectile. This mighty ice shard would soar high above Alpha before being released with incredible speed, targeting the fleeing trio.
Braviary would be struck by this projectile. Despite the bird trying his hardest to move out of the way, the ice shard hit with full power, shattering against his body. Braviary screeched in agony as he found himself encased in ice, the cold seeping through his feathers. He was locked in midair. Hilbert winced, looking back to Alpha. "V-Vi!"
"Braviary!" Hilbert cried out in horror. Suddenly, Braviary would feel the weight of something heavy on top of him and would try his hardest to stay in the sky, trying not to let this heaviness take him to the ground. His wings flapped as hard as they could.
When Hilbert took a closer look at what was happening to his Pokémon, his breath caught in his throat as he saw Alpha standing atop Braviary's back, using his frozen form as a platform. "G-Gimme a break! When did she-"
"Now. Surrender," Alpha demanded. "Hand yourself over."
"Get off, Braviary!" Hilbert promptly turned the hoverboard around, approaching instead of speeding away. To ensure Braviary's safety, he would try and knock Alpha out of the way, going for a full-force tackle.
However, all Alpha needed to do was generate a shield around herself. A circular shield manifested the second Hilbert got close, causing him to crash into it and fall off his board. Hilbert's fall was about to become an endless freefall to his inevitable doom below, but fortunately Hilda was there to stop him. Hilda was riding on the Hoverboard just below him at the moment he crashed. "Gahh! Th-Th-" Hilbert tried to thank Hilda for the assistance she was giving, but he couldn't quite get his words out.
Hilbert and Hilda would ride closely with each other as Hilbert was getting back on the board. Alpha simply looked down. "I can wait all day. I have all the time in the world."
"Now that I'm looking at her closely...doesn't she look familiar?" Hilda commented while holding Hilbert. Hilbert soon realized what she meant by that, both their eyes fully focusing on Alpha's face.
"Oh, yeah...She looks like Princess Kimia!" He shouted.
While that revelation would go unnoticed by Alpha, who simply jumped off from Braviary and landed back onto the board, which had a good height difference, Alpha used this moment to hold out her own Poke Ball.
She threw it, releasing a different Pokemon that wasn't her Gardevoir. This time, she unleashed a Greninja.
"Grenin," Greninja's voice echoed through the skyscrapers as it effortlessly landed in front of its trainer.
"Hang on, Braviary!" Hilbert held out his own Poke Ball. "I'll get you-"
Before any action from Hilbert could come, sirens were heard. They were faint at first, but then, the sirens grew stronger.
The Mirados Police had arrived, rapidly approaching in sleek and powerful police cruisers, their blue and red lights flashing constantly. The officers inside the vehicles had their attention fixed on Hilbert and his friends. Their cars moved at an incredible pace, closing in on them with precision.
"Attention! You are under arrest!" The voice of the police blared out through a megaphone, the message cutting through the night. "Land your Hoverboards at the nearest designated landing point and prepare to surrender." They demanded.
"Ooooh!" Hilda cried out in dismay. "The police too!?"
Hilbert, with a look of concern and worry on his face, made his way toward his Braviary. He tried to do it fast enough, but he knew he couldn't. Hilbert refused to leave Braviary behind. Alpha looked around her surroundings. "Tch, this has gotten complicated," She commented before pointing toward Hilbert and Hilda. "Greninja, use Water Shuriken!"
"Gre!" Greninja would form his signature water shurikens out of thin air. The shurikens were large in size and sharp as any blade. He launched them, the shuriken slicing through the air with precision. Greninja had his sights locked on the duo, the shuriken moving through the air with incredible speed.
"Ninja, Grenin, ninja," Greninja continued to unleash a flurry of attacks, each Water Shuriken aimed to immobilize rather than cause harm.
The police cruisers, however, were far from defenseless. As Greninja's attacks rained down, they activated their own defensive systems. Energy barriers materialized around the cruisers, forming an impervious shield against the incoming shuriken. "Gre-?!"
The water projectiles were repelled by the energy fields, protecting the police officers inside and allowing them to continue their pursuit.
"Nin!" With swift, fluid motions, he altered his strategy. The water that formed the shuriken morphed and transformed into a large and imposing Water Vortex.
"Ninja!" Greninja's voice echoed, the vortex becoming more powerful with each passing second. Greninja directed it toward the police cruisers, attempting to disrupt their pursuit and throw off their pursuit. "Gre-"
As the vortex spun with ferocity, it threatened to envelop the leading police cruiser, but the vehicle's advanced systems kicked in. The cruiser, with remarkable agility, swerved and twisted, evading the vortex's grasp.
Greninja's eyes locked onto his target, the police cruisers. The leading cruiser had managed to escape the grasp of the swirling Water Vortex, but the battle was far from over.
"Gre! Nin, Greninja!" Greninja unleashed another round of attacks, this time employing a different strategy. Instead of the vortex, he conjured smaller, more concentrated orbs of water. With precision, he launched them at the cruiser, aiming for its tires and underside, hoping to disable the vehicle.
The orbs, filled with immense kinetic energy, hurtled toward the cruiser. The police cruiser, equipped with advanced defensive systems, once again activated its energy barriers. The barriers shimmered with an ethereal blue glow, creating a protective shield around the vehicle. However, as the orbs collided with the barriers, they detonated in a cascade of water, creating a temporary loss of traction for the police cruiser. The vehicle momentarily skidded, its tires struggling to grip the slippery surface caused by the orbs.
As the cruiser struggled, Greninja seized the opportunity. He conjured a new Water Vortex, a whirlwind of aquatic power. With great control, he hurled it towards the vulnerable vehicle. "Ninja!" The vortex enveloped the police cruiser, sending it spinning out of control. The vehicle, now at Greninja's mercy, was tossed around by the relentless vortex. It was then sent tumbling into nearby buildings, crashing through the windows with a deafening sound of shattered glass.
"You're in my way. Begone at once." Alpha said to the officers, wanting no interruptions and interference with her mission. Her eyes focused on the two retreating officers, her voice laced with an icy authority.
"Come on, Hilbert! Let's go!" Hilda cried out.
"No way! I'm not leaving without Braviary! Return, Braviary!" Hilbert attempted to call back Braviary in its Poke Ball, the red beam aiming toward the Pokemon. However, with Alpha used her magic, she would intercept the beam, a surge of power coursing through her. A barrier, invisible and unyielding, materialized around the Braviary, preventing the red beam from reaching its target.
"?!" Hilbert gasped. Hilda promptly pulled him away as the trio fled from the scene, leaving Alpha to the Mirados Police Force.
The officers quickly called for reinforcements. Alpha's attention shifted, her eyes narrowing with annoyance. The remaining police cruisers, their lights flickering with urgency, approached her with caution.
Alpha, her gaze filled with determination, turned her attention to the police. "If you don't stand down now, I won't hesitate to use force," She said. Alpha, her aura of confidence and her voice commanding respect, spoke directly to the officers, "Stand down, or face the consequences. Your choice."
The words were not meant as a threat but a statement of fact. Alpha knew the power she possessed, and her warning carried a weight that was palpable in the air. "Greninja. Deal with these police," She said, "The others will pursue them and soon, so shall we."
Greninja nodded, his eyes filled with understanding. He knew the importance of their mission. He knew what had to be done. He would do it without any remorse, without hesitation, even if he didn't want to do this. "Gren, Greninja," He replied, acknowledging Alpha's orders with a resolute nod. His eyes focused on the police officers, his expression filled with determination. He knew what had to be done.
Back at the Mirados Police Station, the break-in had already begun. With the number of officers inside being less, thePhantasia, Violet and the other students began their break-in, immediately using their magic to blast the front doors off their hinges along with the walls.
Ash and everyone inside heard the sound of the walls and doors being blasted open the interrogations being promptly halted. Once inside, the students would begin their search for Ash Ketchum, knowing he as in here.
"Oh, he's in here alright. We'll bring everything down just to find him." Phantasia uttered.
"And if anyone resists..." Violet said.
"Straight to the Soul Crystal, obviously!" Phantasia said, a cold tone to her voice.
In one of the interrogation rooms, Harmony could already sense the attacks happening from within the walls of the Police Station. Her expression was one of shock, her heart sinking at the realization. "The Arcane Institute is here...Please, sir! You have to let me go!"
"Let you go?! In this scenario?!" The detective uttered.
"Please." In the same room was Shining Armor, who requested to be set free by now. "Let us help out, we can take them on!"
"Please, sir!" Harmony said. "I beg of you! A friend of someone close to me is in peril!" Harmony said as she pleaded with the officer. H
"Mmmrgh...It'd be silly to leave you all here while this place is under attack. Alright. If you can help, then do so." He let the two of them go.
Similarly, for Ash, Rarity, Applejack, Rainbow Dash, Pinkie Pie, Fluttershy and Luna, they too were free to go. There was no point in keeping them here while this was happening. They needed all the help they could get.
Once out of the rooms, they reunited with each other. Well, for the most part. One thing that was noticeable was that all the Crystal Empire and Canterlot Forces that came with them through the gateway weren't here. They had been sent elsewhere, scattered due to the interference with the gateway. So right now, it was this limited group. But Ash was quick to notice that Raleigh wasn't here, unaware that he went with Twilight Moonlight, leaving the station minutes ago.
"What do we do now?!" Pinkie Pie exclaimed. "We're not even in the right universe!" She cried. The situation had escalated quickly, leaving them all unsure of their next steps.
"I would say we should leave and head to the right universe that Twilight is in...but if we do leave, this universe could be ruined by the Institute." Luna responded, a look of worry on her face. They couldn't just leave this universe to the Arcane Institute's machinations, but how could they find Twilight in the right universe without knowing where they were?
"Well, I'm not leaving them behind." Ash wouldn't dare to let them all suffer from the Arcane Institute. As much as he wanted to rescue Twilight, this universe had to come first. He knew that if it was left behind, it would be ruined and all these souls would be taken away.
"Are you sure?" Harmony questioned. "I suggest something else. Some of us should stay behind and help while others should go through the gateway to find Twilight."
"Split up?" Ash said. "But..." He wasn't too fond of splitting up. He wanted to stay with everyone. But if it would get them out of this universe, then so be it. It was the only choice. He didn't want to risk the lives of these souls. "Alright...but that also means finding Raleigh. I can't see him anywhere."
"Same with Twilight Moonlight. Not a sign of her." Luna noticed. "She could be far too much trouble. I will opt to stay here and help. And I personally want a smidgen of payback with the Arcane Institute."
Hilda, Nate and Hilbert managed to finally gain enough distance from Alpha who was too busy with the Mirados Police Force. However, they were still not safe, but were at a safe distance for the moment.
"Hah..." Nate took deep breaths, his chest rising and falling rapidly as he tried to catch his breath. The adrenaline from the encounter with Alpha had left him feeling exhausted, his muscles aching from the exertion of running. He leaned against a nearby wall, trying to compose himself, but his mind was racing with questions.
"What's going on?" Nate managed to ask between gasps of air. The shock of the situation was still evident in his voice, his brow furrowed in confusion. Hilda, who had also stopped to catch her breath, looked at Nate with concern in her eyes. They were all breathing heavily, their chests heaving as they tried to calm their racing hearts.
"Grh!" Hilbert punched the wall, angered that he had to leave Braviary behind and that he was forced to retreat. "I don't leave my friends behind...Braviary..." He muttered, his voice filled with frustration. His anger was palpable, a burning fire within him that threatened to consume him. The thought of abandoning Braviary, one of his closest companions, weighed heavily on his heart, making it difficult to focus on anything else.
"We'll be back..." Hilda reassured Hilbert, placing a comforting hand on his shoulder. Her voice was steady and determined, a stark contrast to Nate's confusion and Hilbert's fury. Hilbert, his gaze fixed on the ground, gave a slow nod, his shoulders tensing under Hilda's touch.
However, their peaceful moment was short-lived. Very short-lived. It seemed that they were not truly able to pause for a while at all. Just seconds later, they had arrived, managing to corner them. The Zetas and Betas who had given chase to them, had managed to keep track of them. With Alpha's warning, the Zetas and Betas were given instructions to keep track of them. The Zetas and Betas had managed to keep up the chase the entire time, always knowing where the three were. They knew they couldn't just lose them and have to find them later, so they kept chase.
Nate's eyes widened in disbelief as the Zetas and Betas suddenly appeared before him, Hilda, and Hilbert.
"Found them." Zeta Prime smirked. It freaked the trio out that the Zetas and Betas all looked like Kimia as well, just like Alpha. And that's not even including the fact that they also look like her. The Zetas and Betas were designed by the Arcane Institute to be perfect, and that is exactly what they were. Strong, smart and capable, the Zetas and Betas were the best, and were the perfect trainers, just like Alpha. But their numbers were also a problem, as it was a sign that the Arcane Institute had a vast army at their disposal.
"We have them cornered. Ignore the girl and grab those two." Beta Prime ordered.
Poke Balls by the dozen were held out by the Soul Trainers, each of the Betas and Zetas ready to send out their Pokemon. Overwhelming force was their game plan here. Seeing this and knowing that Braviary was still trapped under Alpha, it boiled Hilbert's blood.
Leaving his friend behind and now having this happen? Hilbert wasn't one that was easily angered but when it came to his friends, that was a different story. Due to this, the tiniest bit of Prisma's Soul within him would start resonating and glowing.
"Why you...!" Hilbert uttered, his voice getting slightly deeper, showing that Prisma was about to take influence at any point.
"Hilbert!" But Hilda managed to snap him out of it, placing her hands on his shoulders. "Don't do it." She stated, concerned for him. "If you do, Prisma will take the wheel."
"...Right." Hilbert said, calming down, his voice going back to normal. He recollected himself, holding his head. "I don't need that rage. All I need is to beat them all and get out of here."
"We can do that. We can also make an opening for ourselves." Nate held out his own Poke Ball, as did Hilbert and Hilda. "But we can't fight them all at once. We gotta make an opening and then run. We'll be back for your Braviary. I promise." He reassured his best friend.
"Thanks, man. Let's do this!" Hilbert's voice bellowed as each of their Pokemon were unleashed.
Universe 12. The Arcane Institute.
Back at Universe 12, right in the Arcane Institute, the staff that were overseeing Twilight Sparkle continued their work, looking to accelerate the process of bringing back Twilight Luminaria. All the while, they were unaware that Skyblue Shine, an imposter, was present and going unnoticed.
Skyblue stayed discreet, blending in with the crowd and keeping her ears open for any relevant information. As she wandered through the institute's halls, her disguise held up, and no one seemed to pay her any mind. But she was not alone. Earlier, she told Twilight that she had more allies on her side. And indeed she did.
It was the Umbrage Thieves. The group that Skyblue Shine used to run. But now, they were no longer thieves, having decided to go straight and become vigilantes who help people in need. They worked silently, ready to do what they could to free Twilight from that container.
"Ready?" Skyblue asked. The others nodded in response to their leader.
"Ready." They all replied.
"Let's get to work then. We got a pony to save." She stated.
The Umbrage Thieves moved together, acting as one. They were well-trained, being able to use the shadows to their advantage and disappear in them. They were able to blend in, becoming a part of the crowd. The thieves were ready, prepared to strike.
They were just about to make their move but then, something else happened.
The entire building shook.
"Wh-What the-?!" One of the workers exclaimed.
"What was that?!" Another one yelled. "Is it an earthquake?" The first one wondered.
"An earthquake? In a place like this? That's impossible!" The second one replied. All of them were unaware. No one knew what was causing such a tremor whatsoever. It didn't seem like a Pokemon was at play here. At least, not so far. The shaking continued for a few seconds before stopping.
"No, not an Earthquake. Something's happening!" A third one realized, looking at the monitors.
"What is it?" The second worker asked.
"The rift in the center of the chamber, it's getting bigger!" The third worker exclaimed.
"By how much?!" The second worker questioned.
"By a whole 20%!" The third worker replied, gazing at the screens and how wild they were appearing. That interference left quite a mark. "The system's going haywire."
"It's because of that pony! She's making it grow!" The first worker pointed out.
"Impossible. She should not have that kind of power." The second worker denied.
"She's the reincarnation of Twilight Luminaria. Of course, she should have this much power!" The third worker argued.
"But if that's the case, why is it happening now?" The first worker asked.
"I don't know!" The third worker replied. "Aaah...Just try and maintain it!"
As the workers were conversing, Skyblue was watching them, listening to every word. "That's our chance. The guards are distracted." Skyblue Shine thought, moving quietly towards the container that held Twilight Sparkle.
"Everyone, focus on stabilizing the rift! We can't have it expand anymore than it should." The third worker ordered, taking charge.
"Roger!" The other workers replied, going to work on their stations.
Meanwhile, the Umbrage Thieves were doing what they could to make sure that nobody could notice them. Skyblue was at the front, sneaking past everyone while also making sure to keep an eye on Twilight Sparkle.
Twilight heard all the commotion, knowing that it was Skyblue's doing. "I hope you're right about this, Skyblue. Because if you're wrong, then we're all going to be in big trouble." She thought, closing her eyes.
Skyblue made it to the control panel that was keeping the container in place. She took out some tools from her bag, getting ready to work. "Alright, time to do some hacking." She thought, inserting a small device into the control panel. Then, she began typing away at the keyboard, trying to override the system.
The Umbrage Thieves kept their eyes on the workers, making sure that none of them were looking in their direction. They had to be very careful, as even the slightest mistake could ruin everything. They were all trained well, so they knew what they had to do.
The container that kept Twilight restrained would start jittering, the purple liquid she was in would ripple. Twilight opened her eyes, seeing that the container was shaking. "Is it working?" She wondered.
The workers noticed this, seeing that the container holding Twilight was shaking. "What the-" One worker exclaimed.
"What's happening?!" Another worker yelled.
"I don't know! It looks like the containment is malfunctioning!" The third worker replied.
"Malfunctioning? How is that possible?" The first worker wondered.
"Someone or... something must've done something to it!" The second worker suggested. "But who could've?!"
"I don't know!" The third worker replied. "But we have to stop the container from shaking or else it'll break! All of it!"
Skyblue Shine kept on typing at the control panel. "Come on, come on... Almost there... Come on..." She muttered to herself. Due to being an android, she had a natural intellect to her advantage. The Umbrage Thieves were watching her, waiting for her signal. They were ready to act at any given moment.
"Got it!" Skyblue said, smiling. Then, she pressed a button and the container holding Twilight stopped shaking. But it did more than stop shaking. It would starting shattering. All due to Twilight feeling her strength return rapidly. Her eyes lit up, similar to how she gets whenever she feels the Elements of Harmony.
But since the Elements weren't here, this was something different. Something laying dormant. Something that only this liquid could do. This was the magic of Twilight Luminaria, slowly breaking out of her as the journey continues.
