"CASTFORM!" Rainbow Dash. roared at the top of her lungs, her voice travelling across the snowy landscape, echoing in the distance. The voice travelled and travelled until it reached Castform. Now that the Wonderbolts, along with Harmony had arrived, they were here to get their friends back from Grogar's control.
"CAST?" The Monstrified Castform reacted to her voice, turning its head while its body was trembling from Silver Swirl's magic, which was starting to make it twitch. The monstrous Weather Pokemon looked to the source of the voice, and its red eye glowed. For some reason, hearing the voice of the blue pegasus was making the Monstrified Pokemon react strangely. There was a strange, fuzzy sensation in its mind, something that was calming and soothing. Its attention was drawn to Rainbow, and the Monstrified Pokemon could not look away. It was an odd, almost hypnotizing effect that was causing Castform to focus on its trainer.
"R-Rainbow Dash...The Wonderbolts...!" Nightmare Moon groaned, trying to resist the magic. For someone like her, the magic was extra threatening since she was connected to Darkness, and her body was being attacked. However, she would not let her guard down and she was determined to keep fighting, no matter the pain and agony she was currently in. But the light was so intense and powerful that her body would not move. "G-Grrgh..."
"I said...give him back!" Rainbow Dash yelled, promptly throwing a Poke Ball into the air. And out of it emerged Braviary.
"Braviary!"
"Braviary! SUPERPOWER!"
"Brav...Bravi...!" Instead of flying in, Braviary would keep his distanec, putting all of his power into his wings. And by spreading them wide, he would clap his wings together and generate a massive, powerful gust of wind. A gale that would travel in the direction of the battlefield, kicking snow off of the ground and chilling the air. This pressure would instantly interrupt Silver Swirl, breaking her concentration and causing the divine magic to vanish, the aura of her magic disappearing in an instant. As a result, her teammates and her enemies would recover and regain their strength, with the Monstrified Pokemon returning to their senses.
"Wh-What?!" Flawless gasped, feeling her energy and power returning to her. She couldn't believe that the magic had ended, a single attack had disrupted it. "How did-?"
"CASTFORM!" Castform soon focused his attention on Rainbow Dash.
"Ugh..." Silver Swirl then looked at her teammates, seeing how discombobulated they were. Right now, they needed to recover, leaving just the Monstrified Pokemon and Silver Swirl herself to be able to take action once more. She glanced at the opposing team and she could see the determination in their faces, the desire to defeat the enemy and save their precious partners. The guardian angel couldn't blame them, knowing that if her own daughter was in danger, she would do anything to protect her.
"Form!" Castform went on the attack, manipulating the clouds above to create a thundercloud. He would manipulate the lightning in the sky and send it towards the Wonderbolts, aiming to strike each of them with great force and fury. The pegasi would all take flight, narrowly avoiding the lightning which struck the hill they were all on, creating an electrical explosion.
"The best way to free your Pokemon is by battling against them. If it's hard on you for to do so, I understand entirely." Harmony said to the Wonderbolts.
"It's no problem." But Spitfire and the others were not opposed to it at all. Whatever it takes to get their friends back, they'll take it.
"Hang on, Castform! I'll snap you out of it! Go, Braviary! Use Aerial Ace!"
"Viary!" Accelerating through the air, Braviary would fly in a straight line, approaching the Castform at great speeds, ready to collide and land a successful hit. However, the Weather Pokemon was quick to manipulate his cloud-like body, opening a hole in it to allow the Valiant Pokemon to pass harmlessly.
"Castform!" After doding it, Castform would spray a cluster of lightning bolts in Braviary's direction. The Valiant Pokemon gasped, swiftly using the speed of Aerial Ace to start evading the oncoming attacks, only getting nicked a few times.
"Use Superpower to knock it away!" Braviary was charging the attack in his wings. He would flap his wings and send a powerful blast of energy at the oncoming attacks, knocking them to the sides. He would then charge in, unleashing the stored power in his talons and colliding into Castform's body. The Monstrified Pokemon grunted, unable to avoid the attack and was knocked to the side, its form slightly torn apart but reforming thanks to its malleable, cloudy material. Braviary soared upwards and away from Castform.
"Scizor!" Assisting Castform would be Scizor, who would appear from above, attempting to clamp down on Braviary with his enhanced pincers.
"Sharpedo! Aqua Jet!" Saving him would be Spitfire, who sent out her Sharpedo to intercept.
"Sharp!" The Brutal Pokemon was enveloped in a veil of water, rapidly zooming and tackling Braviary out of the way, just barely saving him. Scizor would then turn his head, using Bullet Punch to swiftly move across the snowy landscape and attempt to strike the Water and Dark type. He would be intercepted by Soarin's Buizel, who also used Aqua Jet.
"That was risky...but maybe I can do it again." Silver Swirl thought, knowing that her magic was too much for the opponents. She raised her hands, ready to summon the same technique that she did before.
"Wait!" But landing in front of her was Harmony, seeing that the divine light was starting to slowly emerge from Silver Swirl's body. "Stop right there! You're Silver Swirl, aren't you?!"
"Don't try and stop me! I need to do this!" Silver Swirl bellowed at her.
"Hold on, hold on! I know about you!" Harmony tried reasoning with her. "Honestly! I know you through Twilight Moonlight!"
"What?" Silver Swirl paused for a moment. "H-How?"
"Moonlight talked with us for a little while when she ended up teaming up with us. She mentioned you here and there and explained the circumstances. We can talk, okay? We're not your enemy." Harmony assured her.
"I can't take that risk." Silver Swirl shook her head, already making up her mind. "I can't. I'm sorry."
"But surely you can try a different option? You're a guardian angel, right? And a princess on top of that! You don't truly want to do this, right?"
"There's no other way of stopping Prisma. I don't like it as much as you do, but it is the only way. And to get my daughter and universe back, I have to go through with this. All other options, even the ones I've suggested are null and void. This is the only way to save the universes. No matter what." Silver Swirl sternly stated. "So please, stand aside and let me finish this."
"Ough..." Harmony scratched her hair, knowing hr words weren't doing the trick right now. All five ponies within her didn't seem to have the capability of convincing her to change her ways. What was worse is that she felt her time was running low. It would be a long shot, but the alicorn would have to think fast. Something to convince the stubborn guardian angel. Her eyes widened and her horn lit up. "Wait! Can't we compromise?!"
"Compromise?" Silver asked, her ears perking up at the word.
"Y-Yes! Compromise! Look. You didn't want to take rash action against Ash or his counterparts at all. They're innocent in all of this, right? Even if you can't see an option to stop this while keeping them alive, we can. I sure believe there's a way to keep everyone safe."
"And what way would that be?! All other options can easily be cancelled out by Prisma himself, when he's just a soul!"
"I didn't think so either, but it's still possible. I was taught that if there aren't any options at all, you have to make one yourself. That's what I believe!" Harmony pleaded.
"Don't be stupid!" But speaking up was Flawless BlueLight, who got back up, shaking her head now that her body was recovering at a quicker pace. "Don't listen to her, Silver! She's just trying to weasel her way in and manipulate your thoughts! Nice try!"
"But it's not manipulation! You're just not trying hard enough!" Harmony pointed her hoof.
"Not trying hard enough? I've tried my hardest already!" Silver Swirl bellowed as she was visibly angered by those words. So angered that her divine magic would erupt from her body, starting from her eyes before expanding outwards. Harmony grimaced, just barely putting up a shield to block the light shockwave that erupted. It was so powerful that her barrier was shattered in seconds, the shockwave carrying on and knocking the alicorn to the ground. The blast was so strong, that the Wonderbolts and their teammates were affected, even the Monstrified Pokemon. Though they weren't blown away, they were stunned and knocked to the ground, groaning loudly."
"Silver! Wait-"
"I've done everything in my power to make the Professor try other paths. To find solutions. As a princess, that's always been my duty and responsibility. And every chance has been shot down. Every effort has failed. There is nothing else that can be done." Silver Swirl would say, clenching her teeth. "I didn't understand it at first, but I saw why he never accepted them. Someone like Prisma is a different story compared to any threat out there. So my efforts may have been in vain, but I still want to see Prisma gone! And I won't stop until my daughter comes back!"
Enraged, Silver Swirl went on the offensize, unleashing a divine beam towards Harmony. The alicorn spread her wings, quickly taking off and flying around the oncoming attack. As the alicorn flew around her, the guardian angel would use her magic to forcibly make the area around her colder. Even colder than what the Crown Tundra can offer right now, and it was affecting everyone, including her allies.
Harmony's teeth chattered, feeling the aggressive chill in her bones, almost to the point of shivering. She had no choice, having to put in a lot more effort, she would use a spell that would allow the warm sun to shine on her and the Wonderbolts, shielding them from the harsh cold. While they were protected, the rest of the battlefield was still frozen, including their own Pokemon. The alicorn would look and see the effects the cold was having on their foes. Slowly, the ice would climb up their bodies and freeze their lower halves, rendering their legs and tails completely useless.
Silver Swirl then used her magic on the snow, mutating the matter within, transforming it into a massive shining ballista that was loaded with several magical bolts. Each bolt would be fired at great speeds, heading for the alicorn that was in the sky. With a burst of speed, Harmony would fly in an upward angle, dodging the first round of attacks that would explode against the ground. The second round of light arrows was launched, following the alicorn in a slight arc and striking her from behind.
"Aagh!" Harmony cried out. The force of the explosion was strong enough to push her forwards, her vision was blurry and her wings ached. However, the pain was short lived as the third round of arrows would hit her from the front, causing another huge explosion that pushed her to the ground, creating a cloud of dust upon her impact.
"Harmony!" The Wonderbolts shouted, seeing their ally collapse to the ground after the explosions. Their cry would be heard by the alicorn, who slowly rose to her hooves, her head aching and her limbs sore. However, using her magic, she quickly healed herself before the intesity of the damage can linger.
"I don't want to hear you say anything about me not trying hard enough! Clearly you all haven't seen Prisma's awakened a few times already!" Silver ranted as she manipulated matter once more. This time, she would meld the snow from the area and the surrounding energy that was taking place during this battle, forming a giant bow that was ten times her size. She would form a similar arrow, pulling back on the string and aiming for the alicorn.
However, Harmony replied by manipulating matter as well. She took the nearest thing she could find, such as a fallen piece of the Arcane Institute's ship, and transformed the steel into a large shield that blocked her and the others from the incoming arrow.
"I've lost a lot already. And everyone else is at risk of losing everything close to them. But if it means taking someone special away from another...no matter how hard that decision is, I'll see through it. For my daughter!" Silver Swirl shouted before suddenly manipulating space itself, drawing out more of her magic. She was shown visibly straining by increasing her capabilities. Then, without warning, the air would distort, allowing a small yet dense asteroid to appear in the sky above, descending towards her enemies.
Silver grit her teeth, actually attempting to hold back the force of the meteor a bit. A part of her still showed restraint. Harmony was in shock, but quickly threw that shock away. Pulling her head back, she would release a glorious beam of colours at the incoming asteroid. Just as the two projectiles made contact, a massive explosion that engulfed the area in a bright white light. The sheer heat and intensity would knock everyone on their backs, including the Wonderbolts. Once the light faded, a large crater was left in its wake, and the alicorn was nowhere to be seen. The Wonderbolts, despite their injuries, would rush to the center of the impact, fearing the worst.
"Is she alright?!" Fleetfoot asked, frantically digging the debris. "Harmony, are you there?!"
Harmony was indeed there, clearing the dust promptly with the wave of her hoof. Silver Swirl would ascend from the smoke, generating magical wings on her back to take flight.
"Hah..Hah..." Silver Swirl panted. It was clear that she had exhausted a great deal of her power, her breathing was heavier and her movements became sluggish. "I'd expect someone like you to understand."
"I do understand. Honestly. And I would done the same thing. But I have my friends to count on. They believe in another option and I believe in them too. You should feel the same way too, right?" Harmony asked.
"!" Silver Swirl froze upon hearing that. Truth be told, she doesn't. Mainly because the only friend she truly had in the Arcane Institute was Twilight Moonlight, who previously advocated strongly for the destruction of Ash Ketchum and his counterparts.
And since it was just her, she had no friends by her side right now. Just colleagues. And each of these colleagues all agreed in the destruction of the counterparts. But as she was thinking about it, Charizard would roar, grabbing the attention of everyone. All the Monstrified Pokemon present came together to help him up.
Castform manipulated the weather once more, managing to gather all the clouds in the surrounding area in one spot, forming a powered-up Weather Ball unlike any other. Charizard would hold his breath in while Torkoal's shell would build up tons of fire. All the other Pokemon kept building up, ready to unleash something absolutely massive upon them all.
"What are they doing?!" A Wonderbolt questioned.
"Whatever it is, it could destroy everyone here!" Spitfire said, getting up.
"Stop it, Castform! Braviary! Use Brave Bird!"
"Sharpedo! Dark Pulse!"
"Buizel, use Ice Punch!" Rainbow Dash, Spitfire and Soarin' said, followed up by all other Wonderbolts who had their Pokemon advance, attempting to stop their friends from unleashing untold destruction on the Tundra. In unison, all of their Pokemon would launch their respective attacks towards the group of Pokemon, hoping to at least interrupt their charging process and avoid a catastrophe. However, that wasn't going to happen, for one good reason.
"CAST!" Castform saw this coming and used his one unique trait about him to his advantage. His radioactive cells. He glared at the group, using Reflect Type. But where he would usually be able to copy one Pokemon's Typing, as a Monstrified Pokemon, Castform could do a lot more. He looked at all the opposing Pokemon and managed to copy all of them.
His cells would start reacting to this, moving at speeds that were outrageous, to the point where he looked like he was about to combust, but he managed to contain it. And by copying all these types, it transferred to the Weather Ball, filling it with a culmination of different energies from various elements. As a result, a rainbow-colored bubble would appear as Castform would launch this attack foward. Since it contained multiple types, no matter who it hits, super-effective damage will be dealt. It was joined by Charizard's Fire Blast, Scizor's Flash Cannon, Torkoal's Eruption and so on.
The snow of the Crown Tundra was being obliterated as these attacks approached their targets. The Wonderbolts would get their Pokemon to brace themselves. Even the Arcane Institute started panicking as this targeted them as well with the sheer magnitude of it. The skies themselves went dark due to the intensity of the incoming attack.
But Harmony would try and stop it regardless.
She flew past everyone else, including her own friends. Putting herself at the front, the alicorn would attempt to block the attacks, her horn shining brightly to cast a barrier. She felt the weight of the blow pushing her back, feeling every single element that was involved in this assault.
"Ghhh...!" The Fused Pony clenched her teeth when putting this barrier up, trying to keep her ground and not let anyone get hurt. Her body would be pushed back, the snow rising from the ground and the wind blowing in her face. Despite the struggle, she refused to give up. "I won't let you hurt anyone!"
The Infinity Energy from these attacks, especially from Castform's would crackle violently to the point where it would start ripping the ground apart, creating chasms of the land that would descend down miles and miles. The pressure from the blast was immense, the energy was overwhelming. Harmony tried her hardest to withstand the force of the combined attacks, her legs buckling and her wings struggling to stay open. The light from the blasts was blinding, the sound deafening, and the air around them charged with electricity.
The ground shook and the trees swayed. But the alicorn remained determined. As the onslaught continued, the alicorn could feel her strength fading, her magical energy dwindling. She could hear her friends' cries of encouragement, their voices urging her on. They believed in her, and that belief gave her the strength to continue.
Silver Swirl simply watched with heavy breaths. Everypony in the institute was holding on for dear life and the Wonderbolts were also watching. Was this the end?
"What are you doing?!" Suddenly, Nightmare Moon shouted at Silver Swirl while flying past her. "Aren't you going to help?!" The emissary of the night expected assistance as she went to help Harmony out. She would create a barrier as well, letting it merge with the alicorn's shield. Both her and the alicorn were pushing their powers to the maximum, their horns glowing brighter and brighter.
"You heard her! Aren't you going to help out?!" Rainbow Dash screamed at her. "I saw that magic you did earlier1 It's strong right?! Do something about it! All of you?!"
"You're talking to us?!" Violet jerked back.
"Yeah, I'm talking to you! Do you wanna get blown away by that thing?!" Rainbow Dash ranted.
"Hmph! As if we'd ever help you, defends of Prism-"
"THIS ISN'T ABOUT PRISMA RIGHT NOW!" Interrupting Phantasia was Soarin', who would aggressively shake Phantasia's body. "You'll kick the bucket too if you don't do something! Do it for your own sake but it can go both ways!"
"..." Silver Swirl lowered her head, pausing for a while as the Wonderbolts and their Pokemon all went to try and stop the attack, even though their attempts were fruitless. But even Silver Swirl knew that right now, she couldn't afford to keep fighting them. Not now. Everything was truly falling out of control, even for her. But she thought about what Harmony said and came to a conclusion.
Perhaps there was another option. Another option that she had to make. No one else in the Arcane Institute could make it, nor did they even want to try. Silver Swirl, prior to this, has tried other options, but they were ones that already existed and yet she gave up on them.
To see Harmony and everyone in One Light have this much faith in their friend, believing they can stop Prisma in their own way. It was a sight to behold. And the Wonderbolts who have no idea about the situation were still willing to put their lives on the line.
Rainbow Dash then looked back at Harmony, seeing the expression on her face. It was shifting back and forth, unable to find a solid expression. But there was one expression she was leaning towards. "How'd it all come to this...?"
"If you're struggling to choose..." Rainbow Dash said to the guardian angel. "You'll figure it out later. Right now, I need to get my friend back. He's just as important to me as Ash and everyone else. And I'd never let him down or let him go." Those were the words she spoke to her before looking at Braviary.
With the Valiant Pokemon nodding, he closed his eyes within her. Together, the two of them were in deep focus, ready to initate one thing. Rainbow-Braviary. Digging into the Harmony Phenomenon, their hearts would synergize and become one.
And as a rainbow light erupted from the sky, it would beam down on Braviary and Rainbow Dash, and out of it, Rainbow-Braviary appeared.
"Braviary!" He cawed.
"We'll finish this in one go! Braviary! Use Brave Bird!" Rainbow Dash raised her hoof as Rainbow-Braviary spread his wings out, engulfing himself in dazzling flames in the form of a blazing bird. With incredible speeds, he ascended into the air, flying higher and higher into the sky while leaving behind a trail of colours.
Once high enough, he would turn around and start diving towards the ground, aiming at the Monstrified Army of Pokemon. His fiery aura would increase in size and his speed would only grow greater the more he dived. Castform took notice of this out of everyone, attempting to intervene. He would split a part of his body off, using it to approach the Valiant Pokemon, having a swirl of lightning bolts around him as he attempted to hit him, in the process of sacrificing himself to protect the other Pokemon.
The bolts attempted to zap Braviary, but his fiery aura acted as a shield against him, protecting him from the electricity. "You're coming back to us, Castform! I won't let someone control you! GO!"
"BRAVI!" With his voice elevated to new heights, Braviary caused a Sonic Rainboom, moving even faster. So fast that he crashed right into Castform at full force, sending him down as Braviary would keep descending. All the other Monstrified Pokemon looked up to see Braviary approaching with Castform in the middle. They attempted to move, but that's when Harmony and the others saw their chance.
"Aha!" Harmony exclaimed as she and Nightmare Moon used their magic to break through the combined attack now that their focus had been drawn elsewhere. The other Pokemon succeed in doing the same, their attacks overpowering the Monstrified Pokemon's. And at the same time, from two different directions,
Rainbow-Braviary crashed into all of the Monstrified Pokemon while at the same time, the combined efforts of Harmony and the others collided, creating a double collision. And from it, an outburst of rainbows emerged.
It was glorious. Terrifying, but glorious. The rainbow was massive as it spread across the area, covering everything in its path. The Arcane Institute shrieked in fear as the rainbow approached them while Silver Swirl smiply watched in awe, her mouth wide open. And from there, everyone was masked by its light.
As the journey continues.
