War: The Calm Before the Storm

After dealing with the hazards that were bothering Hiro's world, and realizing that other worlds were now starting to feel the effects of time cracking, Sora and the others returned to the Gummi Ship without delay, only to find that there was a new set of coordinates in the flight system. That brought them to what appeared to be the insides of a massive metallic ship, one that was definitely on the Heartless' side of things based on the power that Sombra was feeling in the walls, and instead of wasting time flying around it, searching the endless corridors, Sora had a better idea. That idea, as it turned out, was to use the full systems of the Gummi Ship and just blast his way through the massive Heartless vessel with the full power of their ship, and since they had been gathering power for three years the vessel and it's Teeny Ships were far stronger than they had been at the start. Such a thing meant that Sombra and the others were able to sit back as Sora fired the ship's highest tier of weapons and tore through the enemy ship, the guns punching holes in the metal, the lasers cutting through areas, and the Teeny Ships just blasted Heartless Gummies out of the way.

Sombra leaned back in her chair as that happened, allowing her power to snatch the freed hearts and add them to her ever-growing collection, while ensuring none of them were used for Tenebris' gain, and even the boss style boss ship Sora found was wiped out in no time, allowing them to tear through the ship with ease.

"I know you were good, brother, but now I know why none of the others would challenge you in space... this ship is seriously in it's own class." Vanitas commented, though as they left the ruined ship behind Sora made sure to fire one more blast that just tore the main vessel apart, allowing Sombra to snatch a massive heart in the process, before he glanced at the area in front of them, a shattered world most of the group knew from tales, "And there it is: the Keyblade Graveyard... the last time I was here was when Xehanort and I fought Ventus' group, to forge the X-Blade... and now it will be the sight of another epic battle, the last focused on the fate of the World."

"Tenebris is down there, I can feel his darkness and his forces." Sombra said, where she tapped one of the consoles for just a moment and the communications system input the code that they had designed for this day, transmitting the coordinates for the Keyblade Graveyard to the rest of their forces, before she glanced at the fractured world, "Tomorrow is the big day, just as my brother intended... I suggest we rest, since tomorrow is going to be the longest fight of our lives, especially since we have no idea what our foes have planned or who they've called upon."

After saying that the Gummiphone went off and Sora pulled it out, where they found that it was Roxas calling, and behind him were Ventus, Aqua, and Terra, though it appeared that they were still in Twilight Town, which wasn't a surprise since that was the world Roxas loved, meaning Axel and Xion were somewhere as well.

"Sombra, we've got trouble: Xehanort's been sighted on this world." Roxas stated, where Sora set the phone down on one of the terminals and they found that the screen appeared on the main console, allowing them to see more of the area while their friends turned their phone for a moment, showing that Old Man Xehanort was, in fact, walking down the streets, like he was lost in thought, "We're not sure what he wants, but as far as we can tell it's only him... none of his allies are with him, he has no connection to your brother, and he doesn't seem hostile."

"Which means he's likely there to talk... and knowing him, he's ensuring that you call me so I'll show up." Sombra stated, as it seemed like something that the old man would do, especially since he was no longer in control of his side of the war, thanks to Tenebris having taken control of everything and anyone that the old man might have allied with, causing her to sigh for a moment, "Very well, we'll be back in a few minutes."

Fortunately discovering the location of the Keyblade Graveyard meant that they could warp back here at any moment, due to the Gummi Ship's warp system, and once the call was over Sora warped them back to Twilight Town, teleporting them all down to the town. Sombra confirmed that there was only a single dark signature in the town, other than her mixed magic, and that was Old Man Xehanort's, while at the same time there was nothing else for them to worry about, yet she found that a number of shadows turned to face her. It was all of their allies, such as Xemnas and Sairaine, who were sticking to staying in the darkness so they could observe this without Xehanort realizing that they were there, and if the old man tried anything he would be beaten and imprisoned before he did anything else. This demonstrated their knowledge of the fact that he was one of the smartest and most dangerous figures in the World, so there was no telling what he might do, which was why she went in with an open mind while having her magic at the ready so she could summon her weapons in an instant.

The area she stood in was in front of the bistro, since that was a neutral area and might convince the old man not to lash out while he was on this world, and it wasn't long before she spotted Xehanort, emerging from a crowd with his hands behind his back, the usual stance he took while walking, where Sombra stood still as the figure stopped in front of her.

"I know there is much you would like to say to me... about Ventus, Vanitas, and the others... and there are things I would like to discuss before the main event." Xehanort said, though as he said that he turned and approached one of the tables, where he put some Munny in the hands of the server that was on duty right now, showing Sombra that he was here to talk and not to do war with them, "Some of your finest tea, if you would. Two cups, one for me and one for my acquaintance."

"What brings you here, Xehanort?" Sombra asked, where she took the seat opposite of the one that the old man took, while at the same time noticing that the rest of the group seemed to sit on all of the roofs that overlooked this area, meaning she had allies waiting in the wings, and it wasn't long before the server arrived with their drinks before departing, no doubt due to Scrooge noticing who was among them and wanted the boy out of the area, "You don't seem like the type to break away from the plans that you spent a lifetime working towards."

"Plans... I have waited patiently for this day, to forge the X-Blade in the final clash between Darkness and Light... and yet that day will never come now." Xehanort replied, something that caused him to take a sip of the tea, allowing him to see why the likes of Merlin came here from time to time after it was established, especially when he considered the rumors that Sombra could make delicious food for this place, before he looked down at his cup, "Your brother has taken my plans, my allies, and I have lost my Keyblade... this isn't a small scale Keyblade War anymore, this is a full blown war between the forces of both the Light and the Darkness. I had planned on claiming the X-Blade after clashing with the Guardians of Light, to claim the power of Kingdom Hearts, the pure and pristine version, and purge this World and the people that pollute it with their endless darkness... to use the light of the pure Kingdom Hearts to give us a fresh start, with someone to dictate the destinies of the new people that would fill it, to prevent the New World from falling to Darkness."

"Xehanort, we're not talking just power or knowledge... we're talking the erasure of an entire universe, the deaths of each and every person that calls it home, and the creation of an empty one." Sombra said, though while she knew that the power of Kingdom Hearts was great, which was why she had devoted herself to stopping those from misusing it, but if it held this sort of power, the power to doom a universe and create a new one, that sort of power couldn't fall into Tenebris' hands, not if they wanted to save reality, "And I'm going to guess that you told Tenebris everything about Kingdom Hearts, so the very moment you make the X-Blade he's going to steal it and the greatest power in the World... meaning I'll either need to fight him first, or steal Kingdom Hearts first."

"I am a servant of the World... I know that does not excuse my actions, but I sought to save it from the endless darkness that seeks to devour it, and now endless darkness is threatening everything anyway." Xehanort stated, where it was hard to tell if the old man understood what was going on right now or if the fact that Tenebris was screwing everything up had caused his mind to break in some manner, "At first I thought that your brother was the key to ensuring that I had the thirteen Seekers I needed for the Keyblade War, and then I realized he was just summoning anyone and everyone who might be useful for the war... and now time is cracking and fracturing at an alarming rate, all because of his actions."

"Which is why we are gathering to stop him." a new voice said, where Sombra turned and found Eraqus standing nearby, a fact that surprised Xehanort, though the other old Keyblade Master just stood there while he looked at his friend with a look on his face that suggested that he wasn't angry with his old friend, "I stored my heart inside young Terra, and only came out due to the Replicas, where I have been helping the others train for this day... once this war is over I'll be departing from this World, leaving the World in their capable hands. Xehanort, you have done countless evils in your pursuit for this day, and I know many won't forgive you for your actions, but it isn't too late to change sides, to do some good before the end... maybe whatever judge awaits us in the end will look fondly on you helping to save the World, for real."

"You make it sound so easy." Xehanort remarked, even though it was that simple, as Tenebris had proved that he didn't even need the old man for his schemes to work, he could just rip out new soldiers and allies from the depths of time whenever he wanted, something that caused him to sip on his tea for a moment, before glancing up at Sombra, "Anyway, I came to warn you about your brother... he's been, well, talking to someone that's not actually there, like he's hearing whispers of a being that no one else can hear. I heard him call it the 'Great Evil' and the 'Dark Heart', but it's what caused me to leave the palace and clear my head before the war begins... if Tenebris has a master, which seems crazy to think about, you deserved to know about it."

"I have no idea what you're talking about, but it definitely tells us that we have another reason to win this war... something tells me the issues with reality might be linked to this 'Great Evil'." Sombra said, which was the truth, this was the first time she had heard of her brother talking to someone that wasn't present, making her wonder if Tenebris' hunger for power had fractured his mind and he was actually talking between two different personalities, but that felt like an easy explanation, so her brother must have stumbled onto something major, "So I'll thank you for telling me ahead of time, Xehanort... and if you wish to join us, no matter how much you disgust me, because I know everything you did to poor Vanitas, you know where to find us."

Xehanort nodded his head as he finished off his tea and departed from the bistro, his hands behind his back like usual, and Eraqus seemed to follow, no doubt to have a private conversation while Terra's group ensured that he wasn't cut down by his friend again, all while Sombra drank her tea as she wondered what the future held for them once the Keyblade War started, and it made her nervous as she wondered what might happen next.
