Kingdom Hearts: The World's Reluctant Heroes
War: Light and Dark Collide
Previous ChapterNext ChapterRadiant spun around as she found some of the Dark Soldiers coming at her, swinging her Keyblade and knocking each of them back before they had a chance to do harm to her, before she summoned her elemental power into her hand as she released wind blades that dealt with her targets. What she, and many of the others in their army, discovered was that when any of the Dark Soldiers that fell their energy rushed up into the air and seemed to be gathering in an area that rested far in Tenebris' army, a circular metallic device like a disc of some kind. Radiant had no idea what it was and assumed that it was some sort of dark artifact from the Umbrum Empire, something Tenebris stole without his father or siblings knowing he had done such a thing, but something told her she shouldn't attack it. Sombra was the one that would know what to do with such a device, that much she knew for a fact, before Radiant forced herself to focus once more as she blasted some enemies out of the air, while the other warriors continued to fight the dark army.
Fluttershy and Seras moved around each other, parrying incoming attacks and pushing the Dark Soldiers back before they could hurt them, though at the same time Fluttershy tapped into her chimera power as she morphed into her monster form, crushing some of their foes before they could get way from them.
"Looks like Dark Xehanort is already forming the X-Blade." Seras commented, though at the same time she waved her hand and spears of blood lashed out, striking down a number of Dark Soldiers before they could do anything to stop the attacks, before she sighed for a few seconds as she noticed where the figure was, "Sadly, he's in the far back of Tenebris' army, no doubt as our foe intended."
"Leave him for Sombra. She'll take care of them both." Fluttershy remarked, where she spun around and used her scaly tail to knock down some of their enemies, before she grabbed both of them by their legs, rotated herself like a twister, and then tossed both into the ranks of the Dark Army, only to loose a beam of energy from her mouth into her targets, blasting them into oblivion as well.
Sora, Donald, and Goofy were doing what they did best, charging straight into danger by clashing with the Dark Army, but this time around none of them were playing around and were using their best skills to bring down their enemies, as Sora was channeling the power of the Ultima and it's unlimited Keyblade works power. Donald unleashed the third tier spells on his opponents by freezing them solid, or hurling fireballs, or shocking them with lightning, crushing some with water, and so on as he moved down the spells that were in his arsenal, while saving one in particular for later. Goofy continued to fight with his shield, though his strikes were far more on point and he didn't miss, something that caused the enemies to fall back as he approached them, and even then they had to watch out for when he used Donald's ice to his advantage. Together the three of them were a force to be reckoned with, even without the Ultima Keyblade, and yet they continued to push deeper into Tenebris' army, something that their allies used to their advantage since it meant they could divide his forces.
Riku, utilizing the power of his werewolf form thanks to the amulet he always wore, tore through the Dark Soldiers that came at him and used his new speed to move around the area, while at the same time Kairi fought near him, using her magic to do harm to her targets while ensuring that her allies were as healthy as they could be.
Roxas was like a ball of light as he rushed around the portion of the battlefield that he, Axel, and Xion were in, the trio simply breaking through their enemies as their High Ranks fought beside them, just like how the High Ranks of the others fought near them as well. It was why everyone from the Organization was fighting in different areas, spreading out their forces all while ensuring that there were no gaps in their formation, and even if there were gaps they were sealed by either the forces of the Heartless or even the other villains. Demyx, on the other hand, remained back with his Dancers, though there was a good reason for that as he and his High Ranks started to play like an actual band, utilizing his power to bestow power boosts to the entirety of the army, which was an amazing feat and he was proud to do his part. It had been something he and his High Ranks had worked on in secret, a surprise of sorts, and Demyx was happy to see that it was working like a charm as his allies tore thought their foes with his power boosts, while Xigbar stood nearby and sniped those that got close to him.
Luxu had followed Prexus' lead and allowed himself to be separated into Luxu and Xigbar, one fighting on the front lines as the other remained in the back as he sniped enemies that might be a problem for them, and based on what he was seeing at the moment it looked like things were going quite well.
One area of the battlefield was just a full on war zone on it's own, as that was where Sephiroth was fighting, swinging his long katana and slicing up the ground as he chased those that he deemed to be strong foes, each ultimately failing to stop or stall him, and that wasn't counting his own magical attacks. At the same time Cloud fought beside him, something that both of them had to focus on since they were drawn to clash with each other, but for right now their focus was on saving the rest of the World so they could fight again at some point in the future. Leon and the others, despite not having the skills that the rest of the army had since they had been busy before the war started, were still standing their ground and were taking out enemies as well, meaning even his group were worthy allies in this final battle. The Gullwings, now in full adult forms, had an interesting tactic to use against their enemies, using transformations to fight their foes, as they could be wild like beasts, or could wield magic like mages, used guns, and even had warrior armor, meaning they could change their gear to suit whoever their foes were.
Sombra, on the other hand, was moving through the air as she and Tenebris clashed, the collision of their weapons shaking the air and sending out shockwaves every now and then, though she wasn't surprised when her brother teleported out of the area and landed near Dark Xehanort, claiming a weapon that looked like two Kingdom Keys that formed an X with energy crystals forming the main blade.
"So, that's the X-Blade. Fantastic." Sombra remarked, though at the same time the sky cleared as they found the massive form of Kingdom Hearts floating above the chaotic battlefield, where most of the warriors ignored the new bright floating heart shaped object that had appeared in the sky, "Okay, time to get serious."
As she thought about that, however, Donald became the epicenter of magical activity as a large magical circle formed around him, one of fire and destruction, and Sombra could feel his power inside it, like the duck had been feeding his spare magical energy into his wand since they started traveling together. Whatever spell it was caught the eye of Mickey and Goofy, even Merlin and Yen Sid, but Donald understood that this was a serious matter and was more than willing to unleash the height of his power, if there was a chance that he could turn the tide of the main battle in their favor. In the following moment he just thrust his wand towards the distracted Tenebris, shouted 'Zettaflare', and fired a powerful beam of fiery energy that simply tore through the space between him and his target, zeroing in on Tenebris in no time. For a brief moment Sombra thought it might be over, the beam wiping out Tenebris before he could do anything, though while the beam did cut through the area her brother was standing in Sombra knew that their foe was unharmed.
In fact the next moment confirmed her thoughts as she found Tenebris standing there with a smirk on his face, though while Donald fell into Goofy's arms, confused as to how the attack did nothing, Sombra noticed the dark metallic disc floating in front of her brother, one that had a flaming aura that was disappearing, causing her to flash down and kick it out of the air as she clashed with her brother again.
"Really? Your hunger for power caused you to steal THAT cursed relic?" Sombra remarked, though as she tried to grab it with her magic she found that Tenebris caught it, but it only made her wonder how long her brother had been in possession of the artifact, one that not even the Kings and Queens of the Umbrum Empire dared to wield, out of fear that it would simply consume them as well.
"The Hungering Maw is a wonderful artifact, an endless void that consumes all magic and gives the power to it's wielder... sort of like your power." Tenebris remarked, where the look remained on his face as he and Sombra glanced at each other, while Sombra had to wonder if her brother had figured out that she had the power to capture hearts, something that caused her brother to chuckle for a moment as he thought about something else, "How weak-willed you are... you have the power to capture hearts and absorb them, adding their power to your own, and yet here you are, squandering that power. I knew you were too weak to be an Umbrum."
"That's the difference between you and me, brother: you let your hunger control you, while I conquered mine." Sombra said, though in the next moment she separated the Runeblade into her two Keybaldes and swung them, one aimed at Tenebris' upper body while the other was aimed right at his legs, something that formed him to weave out of the way as Sombra released a light and dark cross slash right into her brother's chest.
The reasoning for that was because she wasn't aiming at the dark artifact, rather she made it so he had to retreat as she used her magic to snatch the X-Blade, where she landed a good distance away and reformed the Runeblade, giving her two of the three Ancient Keyblades that Prexus had talked about. Instead of stopping at that Sombra gathered her power and let her full power form, the one she used way back when she was angry over what happened to Fluttershy, appear on her while she gathered her magic into her right hand. She was layering several techniques and powers into a single attack, the punch that induced earthquakes was covered by each of the elements she and the others had learned about since meeting Sora, with mixed Light and Darkness on top of that. The cherry on top was the Ultima, the spell, as she had learned it from Yen Sid and Merlin during the year of preparation, but hadn't really told anyone about it since she didn't want to ruin the surprise, especially not since Tenebris was likely spying on them to keep track of their progress.
This was her 'Ultima Impact', a spell that should be more than enough to deal with her brother, which was why once she was ready to go Sombra rushed straight for where her brother was standing and swung, where it sure felt like she hit Tenebris, only for the smoke to clear as she found that her attack hit the protective barrier of the cursed artifact.
"You really are pitiful. A full power attack, designed to end the fight, and you fail to hit your target." Tenebris commented, a fact that was followed by him kicking Sombra in the chest and knocking her backwards, as he must have added his power or magic to his attack to push her back, "But I must thank you, for with this power I can do this!"
Sombra rushed at Tenebris and found that he just dissolved into mist, reforming in front of what appeared to be a darkened hourglass, before noticing that her brother's right arm now had the same magical layout that she had used to form her new ultimate move, causing her to move instantly. Two figures stopped her, it was the Dark Xemnas and Dark Seeker Ansem that came from some of the timelines that her brother had been messing with, and their interference allowed Tenebris to fully unleash the power of Sombra's own attack, now fueled by his power and the power of the Hungering Maw relic. He was able to not only shatter the darkened hourglass, but also crack the very fabric of reality itself, where Sombra and the others just watched as the jagged cracks in space and time spread outwards, like a window was cracking before their eyes. This meant her brother had just screwed over time itself, though as the cracks started to spread a few magical bolts of bronze energy rushed through the air and collided with the cracks, seemingly freezing them before they could get much worse.
This caused Sombra to smile a little as she found that Sairozormi was present, not that she was surprised since this was her job, to keep track of time and deal with disruptions, and sure enough she discovered that the bronze humanoid dragon wasn't alone, there were others with her time based power standing behind the army that was opposing Tenebris' forces, all focusing on stopping reality from breaking.
"Like I said, the Time Wardens and I have this covered. Go deal with your brother, before the damage gets worse and we have to call in the big gun." the bronze dragon figure said, where Sombra was sure that they had exchanged names at some point and yet couldn't pinpoint when, exactly, such an event had happened, but now wasn't the time for such things as she nodded her head and faced her brother, who was rightly stunned by this new discovery, even though Sombra was sure that there was someone who looked like Twilight among her army now.
Sombra nodded as the bronze figure opened her wings and retreated, appearing near the back of the army that she and her friends had gathered for this day, no doubt to keep herself safe while she and the others worked, allowing Sombra to focus on Tenebris and nothing else. In the next instant she found that Sora stopped nearby and handed over the Ultima, almost like he knew that he didn't need it anymore, like he was merely holding onto it until it could be passed to someone else, a fact that gave her all three of the Ancient Keyblades. Tenebris, annoyed by was going on, slammed the dark relic into his own chest, consuming his body in pure dark energy, as the tips of his hair were stained with the pulsing void center of the relic, his hands became clawed and wicked, he let his hooves crack and morph into predatory paws, and there was a hungry look in his eyes, like he was now consumed by the void. Of course this meant that his power was beyond reasoning, especially since the relic was incredibly powerful, but Sombra knew that her brother had gone off the deep end by doing so, he had given himself over to his hunger completely, and the hunger of the dark relic.
In the next moment Kingdom Hearts pulsed above their heads and Sombra smiled, where she raised her hand for a moment as her power wrapped around the powerful force, because it was a heart and it was better placed in her collection, but this time she had other plans. The moment Kingdom Hearts was captured she tapped into the power of every heart that was in her possession, creating a torrent of energy around her while the Ancient Keyblades moved around her, their forms simply overlapping before merging into a single weapon, a straight sword, very unlike a Keyblade, whose blade was silver colored yet seemed far stronger than all other Keyblades. It's guard was like two wings, one a bright light and the other simply pure darkness, two forces in balance, and it wasn't long before Sombra emerged from the vortex of energy, but this time most of her dark armor was gone, replaced by a form fitting set of armor that looked what an angel would wear, only it, too, had light and dark aspects. Sombra found that it was like when she channeled both of her powers, Light on one side and Darkness on the other, both powers brought into balance, and she even found that she had a pair of feathery wings growing out of her back, one of golden light and the other of the dark void, like she was the balance between the two opposing forces.
With that done she and her brother focused on each other, as the battle that was about to start would be the final battle, both between them and between the Light and the Darkness, the fated final clash, and she would do everything in her power to save the World from what her brother was about to unleash on them, causing her to brace herself for whatever might happen next.
