Kingdom Hearts: The World's Reluctant Heroes
Interlude: Xigbar's Decision
Previous ChapterNext ChapterXigbar had been following Xehanort for a number of reasons, to see the end of the war between the Guardians of Light and the Seekers of Darkness so the Gazing Eye could witness everything, plus there was the fact that Xehanort promised to hand it over to him once he got what he wanted. Even when Sombra entered the scene, and utterly ruined all of their plans, he had promised to uphold his side of the bargain so Xigbar would remain by his side until the end, since he was one of the few allies the old man had left, even though this meant they would have to track down more allies to fill the ranks. It had been a plan that had been on his mind for some time, after seeing the downfall of Maleficent's council, the downfall of the couple of members who were sent to Castle Oblivion, and the unbelievable corruption of the Organization itself. Even when Tenebris showed up Xigbar was sure that they could have made it work, that he was the key to rebuilding the True Organization so they could start the Keyblade War with the Guardians of Light, but things had quickly changed as he got to know the figure that was Sombra's brother.
Tenebris was a monster, plain and simple, who had no regard for the rules that made up the World, as he just summoned different versions of anyone and everyone that might be useful in the grand scheme of things, such as the members of the other members of the Organization, villains who were beaten and desired revenge, and anyone who might be useful to him. He was building an army to face the army that his sibling had created, so both sides were stacking the field and that meant that the X-Blade would be forged without delay, in fact he was sure that it would happen within the first couple of minutes of the war, meaning Xehanort would be able to summon Kingdom Hearts and seize it while everyone was busy. Xigbar, on the other hand, had a feeling that Tenebris would be waiting for that moment, the instant that the greatest power in the whole World was exposed and ready for the taking, and then steal it while everyone was fighting. If that happened he assumed that it would be the End Times, the literal end of everything, and not in the way that Xehanort was planning, since the old man was planning on erasing the current World to make one free of Darkness, to lead them to a better future.
It left him with an important decision to make, did he continue to side with Tenebris and Xehanort, marching towards the far more literal end of the World, or did he bite the bullet, say that things had spiraled out of control, and try to join Sombra, as he was starting to see why Xemnas and the others were on her side.
"Oh Xigbar, what did you get yourself into this time? More importantly, what would Luxu do in this situation?" Xigbar said, talking to himself as he stared at the area that was around him, the thirteen stone pillars that had been chosen to serve as the meeting place for the True Organization, while off in the distance he spotted the dark crystalline walls that were part of Tenebris' citadel, a place created to be his domain until the final battle started.
He knew what he would have done in the past, stay the course and just watch, but he was a servant of the Light, working to defeat the Darkness and safeguard the World from the dangers that plagued it, and right now he paled at the mere thought of serving what seemed to be a being far worse than even the Darknesses. In that moment Xigbar made his decision as he pulled his hood up, shrouding his head and face once more, where he made his way back to the dark citadel and heard the sounds of people fighting, training for the battles ahead of them no doubt. Sure enough he sees an army of dark robed figures fighting each other in Tenebris' name, training with each other as ice, fire, wind, lightning, and all of the other types of magic were flung around without concern, as these ones didn't care about those that were around them. In fact the spells and powers stopped every now and then as Xehanort and his younger self unleashed their time magic, all while Tenebris sat on a dark throne with a hungry look in his eyes, no doubt slowly devouring the knowledge that was in front of him, and yet he knew this wouldn't be enough to satisfy him.
In that moment Xigbar held his hand out and called upon a power he hasn't used for a long time, where Xehanort watched as his Keyblade, the same Gazing Eye that belonged to Xigbar and had been made by the Master of Masters, where it just vanished from the old man's hand and caused him, and others, to look around in surprise, before it reappeared in Xigbar's a few seconds later.
"I don't know who you are, but you will return that weapon to it's rightful owner." Tenebris stated, though this was amusing to him, because if Xehanort was able to lose his Keyblade that meant it might be possible for him to steal them after all, and that caused an idea to form in his mind, but this was mostly to force the old man into his debt if he returned his weapon to him, since it looked like he couldn't summon it back.
"Sorry, but I won't hand it to the likes of you." Xigbar remarked, this time using one of the older voices he had used in the past, ones that none of them would be able to recognize right away, while at the same time channeling his magic into the tip of the Gazing Eye as he loosed a burst of light energy into the crowd, blinding everyone in Tenebris' army.
In the following seconds he jumped backwards and opened a Dark Corridor, escaping from the Keyblade Graveyard before appearing in the outskirts of The World That Never Was, causing him to close the portal as he glanced out at the area for a few moments, taking in all of Sombra's allies as he did so, before two figures appeared nearby, Sombra and a grey robed figure that he recognized from it's energy.
"Master?! What are you doing here?" Xigbar asked, because while he had seen the grey robed figure when Tenebris made his declaration of war on Sombra's forces, which seemed to be moving at a more normal pace, he didn't dare think that the figure in question was actually the missing Master of Masters.
"Things have changed, Luxu. The plan is no longer in effect... Tenebris threatens all aspects of the World, and I figured that lending my aid was necessary." Prexus stated, which was the truth, Sombra's brother was threatening everything and he had to lend Sombra his aid, especially with the legendary weapon he was going to help her obtain, though having his apprentice back meant more than his ally could possibly know, "You took the Gazing Eye back, which was a good move... can you call on the others?"
"You mean the Foretellers? Why?" Xigbar inquired, though at the same time he lowered his hood, allowing Sombra to see his current face, even though he was sure that the figure had figured that part out before he even said anything, but it was odd that his master would ask about the figures that held four of the thirteen Darknesses, "You said not to call on them until the Keyblade War, Xehanort's I'm assuming, was over."
"And now I'm telling you otherwise. We'll need their help as well." Prexus said, where he nodded to Sombra for a moment and his ally summoned a chest that stunned Xigbar, the enchanted gold and silver chest that contained two of the thirteen Darknesses inside it, something that caused him to chuckle as he noticed his apprentice's reaction, "Sombra's found a way to seal the thirteen Darknesses... if you summon the Foretellers we can enlist their aid in stopping Tenebris and seal each of your prisoners as well."
Xigbar stood there for a moment before nodding, where he remained still as Sombra noticed four vortexes open up behind the figure, where four elegant robed figures stepped out of them, one with a unicorn helm, one with a snake helm, another with a bear helm, and a fourth with a leopard helm.
"You know, I never cease to be amazed by what the World has to offer." Sombra commented, because that power, one that Xigbar must have been keeping inside himself for the fateful day it would be used, seemed to be a bridge between when the Foretellers were banished, or whatever happened to them, and the modern day, allowing them to travel through time in a way that was different from what Tenebris had done, "And we have another ally coming."
This one appeared to be a fifth elegantly robed figure, also with a different color since all five had different colors, and this one was a woman, much like the snake mask, though she had a fox mask and her presence surprised Xigbar, though it did look like Prexus suspected she would return as well.
"Ira, Invi, Aced, Gula... Ava." Xigbar said, where the five figures stopped in a line and looked at all of them, because it looked like they were shocked to see each other and their former master, causing him to sigh for a moment as he realized just how much he was going to have to tell them so they understood what was going on, "Long story short, things have changed... all of our plans have been changed, as there is a new force of darkness seeking to devour everything. Sombra here is, well, also a force of darkness, but has been blessed by the World itself... and apparently she has discovered a way to seal the thirteen Darknesses."
The Foretellers were, of course, shocked by this information, or maybe they thought their friend was lying, because all five of them recognized him as Luxu, but Sombra showed them the truth without wasting time, a Xigbar and the four figures he had summoned fell to one knee for a moment, before Ava followed suit. The group watched as six masses of darkness appeared in the air above them, while at the same time the chest opened and they discovered the crystals that were inside it, etched with the numbers of which Darkness that was to be contained inside them. She did take a moment to ask Prexus which ones she needed this time around, who informed her that the Sixth through Tenth were needed, along with the Eleventh for Luxu, which was followed by the six gems floating out into the air. The six individuals braced themselves for a moment as they felt like something was being torn out of them, where the dark entities literally screamed as they were sealed inside the depths of the crystals that bared their number, one per crystal as they discovered, and once the deed was done two lines of magic, Light and Darkness, wrapped around each one.
Xigbar was amazed, Sombra had really found a way to seal the Darknesses, cutting them off from the World itself, and once all six gems were in their slots she sealed the chest and dropped it off in an area only she had access to, causing him to realize that siding with her was the best move right now.
"Come, I will introduce you to the others and explain things to you... and then we can get to work preparing for the war that my brother wants to start." Sombra stated, allowing the dark and light mists to vanish from around her eyes, causing the five Foretellers to look at her in surprise and amazement, because she was unlike anyone they had seen before and it made all of them eager to learn more about her and what was going on.
Sombra knew that this would be a big boost to their forces, with six skilled Keyblade wielders joining her side, though she did have to wonder what the future might hold in store for them with everything that was going on right now and hoped that it was enough to stop Tenebris and Xehanort when the time came to clash with them.
