Interlude: Imprisoned Darknesses

Sombra found that it was some time before Prexus decided that it was time for them to make their move against the rest of the Darknesses, since that happened to be what the Master of Masters was focused on, giving her and the others time to prepare themselves and their allies for what the future held in store for them. The only problem she was facing right now was the fact that her brother had been so silent since his declaration of war, but while she assumed that his absence was due to giving them time, given what she knew from her rediscovered past, it still made her nervous. Tenebris wasn't a foe that could be underestimated, his hunger for power the main driving force in his existence, a hunger he clearly couldn't control, but his power wasn't to be laughed at, because out of all of them Sombra knew she was the only one that could bring him down. Even with that in mind she was making sure everyone else was as prepared as they could be, because once the year was up they were going to engage in the last war for the fate of the World, she hoped so anyway, and weak links would only allow her brother to seize victory that much sooner.

Eventually a month had passed since the declaration of war, which was when Prexus announced that it was time for them to make their move, though this time around he only wanted a few of them to come with him, which turned out to be Sora, Sombra, Radiant, Fluttershy, and Seras.

"Sora, I have a gift for you." Prexus commented as they boarded the Gummi Ship, which turned out to be a new Keyblade, one that was as long as the Runeblade, and likely the X-Blade when Sombra thought about it, where they found that the blade had three lines, almost like the Roman numerals for three, with a bladed guard and a crown at the base of the handle, and the head was impressive as well, "Ultima, the Ancient Weapon of Courage, as I promised. I would like to point out that this is an incredibly powerful blade, just like it's sister weapons, and I would like to suggest that you only use it when you deem it necessary."

"Like the powerful 'boss' monsters we've fought in the past, or the members of Tenebris' dark army?" Sora inquired, which was followed by him taking the weapon in his right hand for a moment and found that it was as light as the Kingdom Key, a fact that told him that he wouldn't have to learn how to use a heavier or lighter weapon, before he caused it to vanish, like he did with his Keyblade, before summoning the Kingdom Key and then made sure he could summon the new one, "Don't worry, I'll be sure to use this when I need it."

"Good, though you're going to need it today: we're going to the ruins of Scala ad Caelum." Prexus stated, where he held his hand towards the space that was in front of them and a portal opened, just like when he brought them to the area that the stronger Keyblade Forge was resting in, nodding to Sora so they could fly through it as he turned towards the others, "We are going to an area that I have hidden a console in, the only entrance into the Datascape that four of the remaining five Darknesses are trapped inside. I have been keeping careful watch over them throughout the years, just to make sure the prison is holding, and the original plan was to make sure they never escaped... but with Sombra's ability to seal them, which we have confirmed multiple times, I decided to capture them now and not worry about the original plan. Once they're taken care of we'll have one more Darkness to track down... and then the long battle with them will be over."

Radiant and the others shared a glance as Sombra focused on the portal, as this meant that they were likely going in at the same time and would be fighting the four prisoners, but Radiant had to wonder why all five of them were coming, since this seemed like something only Sombra needed to do. Part of her guessed that they would be clashing with the Darknesses and Sombra was going to seal them once they were weak enough, though such a thing made her wonder if Prexus really thought they had the power to bring down, or even weaken, the Darknesses, even with their training. In the end, however, she just braced herself for what the near future had in store for them as they flew through the portal and appeared in the space that was above a world that looked ruined, like a war had been fought here at some point in the past. The white marble that was all over the place, plus houses and structures that were ruined, seemed to suggest that this place had been a thriving nexus at one point in the past, though she focused on what was going on right now as they followed Prexus' directions.

He had them land on what appeared to be one of the few pristine towers of the world, where he disembarked immediately and walked over to an area that seemed to be where an elevator might have rested at one point, though there was a single terminal and a teleportation tube.

"I'm going to send all of you into the area of the Datascape that the Darknesses are contained in, four of you are going to beat them into submission, and then Sombra will seal them." Prexus stated, where Sora stepped forward first, showing him that he was ready to face this danger and make sure another threat was removed before they worried about Tenebris, and as he worked the Master of Masters glanced at them for a couple of seconds, "Be warned, these four are part of the first five Darknesses to form, as the other seven followed after them, and they will be stronger than you might be expecting."

Sora nodded as he stepped into the tube and let the device warp him into a world that seemed to be a digital copy of one he didn't recognize, likely a world that only Prexus knew about, and as he stepped forward it wasn't long before Sombra, Seras, Radiant, and Fluttershy warped into the world as well. Sombra jumped up onto the top of the tallest building in the area and found that there were, in fact, four dark signatures coming from the area around them, one in each direction, and she found that each had their own form to set them apart from each other. One seemed to be a large tiger made of energy, another seemed to be a rather vicious looking crane, the third appeared to be a powerful looking oxen that could trample the area, and the last was a dark serpent dragon, plus each of them were stronger than the Darknesses she had captured, like these were 'dark gods' or something. It made her realize why Prexus had asked for the others to come, why he had gone to such lengths to hide them, and made her understand that if Tenebris absorbed them and their power he would be worse than he currently was, all while confirming a few things about Vanitas in her mind.

In the next instant she nodded to the others and they got moving without delay, showing that they understood that this was going to be a harsh fight for all of them, where Sora took the serpent dragon, Fluttershy picked the oxen, Radiant the crane, and Seras the tiger, and when the sky flashed with lightning the four battles started without delay.

Sora reacted to the threat immediately as he summoned Ultima, instead of the Kingdom Key, and rushed through the air as the black serpent dragon came at him, which opened it's mouth and loosed a beam of dark energy at him and everyone else, as it looked like it was trying to blow a hole in it's prison. Instead of letting that happen Sora focused on the task at hand as he spun the Ancient Weapon around and found that he could stop the beam in it's tracks, though when he quickly gripped the handle and thrust the blade forward he discovered that the power of the weapon tore the attack apart. He zeroed in on the Darkness and swung at it, finding that it parried the attacks from his new blade and that it seemed to be pulling back as he pressed the assault, like it was afraid of the power that was contained inside it, which had to be part of the reason Prexus warned him to be careful with it. At the same time the blade glowed and he understood the true power of this Keyblade as it transformed when he focused on the glow, as it turned into a thinner blade with a red inner line, while possessing the same guard, but it was when he swung the weapon that he fully understood it's power, as multiple Keyblades seemed to follow his swings and attacks.

It was, in the simplest terms possible, what Sombra would call 'Unlimited Keyblade Works' and it allowed him to literally fly around his foe and deliver an unholy amount of blade attacks on the black serpent dragon, in fact Sora could see new ways to fight, even with his base weapon, as he appeared behind the beast and it produced all sorts of light from it's body before exploding in a pillar of dark energy.

As Sora engaged his foe, however, Radiant wasted no time in calling forth her new power as the crane rushed at her, where she shifted her form into that of a powerful mountain and grabbed onto the beast as it collided with her, finding that her guess was right, strengthening her body to this degree allowed her to stop it. In the following moment she decided not to let the battle go on too much as she reached for the depths of her new power, deciding to fight this creature as it deserved to be fought, and when the crane released a wave of black flames she countered it with a wall of water. As the wall fell she and her magical copies, each born from a different element, rushed at the now confused black crane, surrounding the Darkness as they lashed out at it, punching and kicking it before it had a chance to fight back, causing her to realize just how much stronger she had actually become over their adventure. Such a thing caused her and her copies to create rotating orbs of energy above their heads, each of the element that they were using, like how she was using earth right now and another was using water, before they hurled them at the black crane.

The barrage of elemental attacks was far too much for the black crane to handle, no doubt because it had no defenses to the majority of the various elements she was using, and in the end she discovered that it was consumed by a pillar of dark energy as it detonated.

Seras, on the other hand, wasn't having too much trouble with her foe as she focused on her unique power, that of blood, As she pricked one of her fingers before hurling a spear of crimson energy at her target, striking the tiger before it could jump out of the way. The pricking of her finger, or even fingers since she could do it with each one, was mostly symbolic since this was her transforming her magic into weapons and attacks that looked like they were made out of blood, and yet she found that it seemed to weird people out, which was why she did this. As the tiger released a burst of energy at her Seras just let her magic form a barrier around her, absorbed the attack, and then redirected it back into her foe's face, much to it's total surprise, but that was merely a distraction as she formed her final attack. It was a rain of blood spears that burst out of the air above her foe and struck it multiple times in a row, damaging it's body while it tried to get out of the way, before it found that she had set up a barrier around where it was currently standing, preventing it from fleeing.

She smiled as the beast succumbed to the barrage of blows, where she knew they would have been tougher had they been out in the real world and not trapped in a prison like this, before Seras turned as the black tiger exploded due to the damage it had received from her attacks.

Fluttershy, after having spent a lot of time with Sombra and the others, was ready to face the dangers of the World and just stood there as the black oxen came at her, where she pulled out the critter orb that held all of her animal companions, and it also had information on Lei Shen and the others who weren't contained inside it. By magically absorbing it she was able to use the strengths of the various animals that were inside it, though for the time being she picked just Lei Shen as scales appeared on her arms and legs, while her tail mimicked their own serpent dragon's tail, and she added Cerberus' strength to the mix. Such a thing allowed her to avoid the incoming charge and kick at her foe's side in an instant, knocking it away from her, and she was able to rush after it without delay, delivering a series of quick kicks and punches to the Darkness, before knocking it to the ground. In the next instant she decided to tap into another of Lei Shen's powers as she floated into the air and held a hand towards the sky, where she called on the wind itself and it formed a spiraling sphere above her hand, one that transformed as it mixed with her magic, forming a massive attack that was larger than the oxen itself.

By sending the attack down at the black oxen she pressed it against the ground and it was consumed by the attack, resulting in a dark explosion that rocked the area she was in, all while the same thing happened all over the area, as all four of them caused an identical explosion to happen at the same time.

"Magnificent work everyone." Sombra remarked, where she held her hand out and she snatched the four essences before any of them could escape, allowing the others to watch as the four Darknesses were pulled down into the chest that she had summoned, where the First through Fourth crystals were filled with their essences and sealed without delay.

This put a smile on her face, because it meant that there was only one more Darkness left and she had a feeling she knew how to find him, they just had to be patient, and she was sure that Prexus would be pleased once this threat was sealed and they could focus fully on Tenebris and the threat he posed to the rest of the World, something they would deal with in the future.
