Kingdom Hearts: The World's Reluctant Heroes
War: Visiting an Old Friend
Previous ChapterNext ChapterAfter telling everyone that it was almost time to go to war with Tenebris' forces, which meant people were getting ready as they spent their last days in peace, Sombra and her friends departed from Traverse Town by returning to the Gummi Ship and flew off into the vastness of space once more. This time it was just the seven of them, as in her, Radiant, Fluttershy, Seras, Sora, Goofy, and Donald, a familiar scene since this would be like old times, but this time around they discovered an interesting change to the space that they flew through to travel from world to world. There was no path, rather space was fully open for Sora to explore, as there were golden spheres to fly around and open to gain more materials, crystalline shards to break and gain components, and groups of enemies to engage in battle, usually just the Heartless Gummi Ships they had faced in the past. Of course these Dark Gummi Ships were from the timelines that Tenebris was yanking his allies from, showing them that he was constantly damaging the World by messing with time as if it was just a toy for him to play with, and while Sora moved them through space Sombra focused her mind on the energy she was feeling.
She knew that if Tenebris was messing with time, and they had constant confirmation on that fact, it was only a matter of time until his forces started attacking the various worlds to do whatever they wanted before the Keyblade War began, and it wasn't long before she tracked down several dark signatures.
"I was right: Tenebris or his followers are attacking the other worlds, and the first is Hercules' home." Sombra stated, as she had felt two more that seemed to be on worlds they hadn't been to before, meaning they might be able to visit new worlds during their time before the Keyblade War started, and she could see that the others were interested in catching up with some of their old friends, "Not sure about the other worlds that are near us, but we'll worry about those when it comes time for us to visit them."
"Okay, Olympus Coliseum it is." Sora said, where he tapped on the controls and directed the ship towards the location that the world was in, because this was the third time they were going to visit the world and it made him interested in seeing what sort of chaos was happening this time around, "Wanna bet that Hades is up to something again?"
"Suckers bet." Radiant remarked, because that was most likely what was going on, Hades was going after Hercules or one of his other foes and the Heartless were taking advantage of the chaos to acquire as many hearts as they could, it seemed like par for the course based on what they had seen during their previous visits.
The others nodded their heads in agreement as Sora directed the ship towards their destination, where they discovered that there were a few new metallic contraptions they hadn't seen before in the space between worlds, and it wasn't long before he brought them to Hercule's world... but when everyone warped down, however, the system brought them to an area that was on the edge of a mountain.
"Okay, this is new." Sora stated, because every other time they came to this world the systems brought them somewhere near the Coliseum, where they would meet Phil, chat and train with him for a time, and then catch with with Hercules before worrying about whatever plan Hades had in mind, so it was odd for them to start somewhere new this time around, "Well, if the rules that the World were using previously are still in effect, this is where we need to start to learn something important, before likely meeting up with Hercules."
"Wouldn't be surprised. You've gotten good at guessing things, Sora." Sombra remarked, which she suspected was due to all of the adventures they had been on, and listening to her guessing at things after meeting up with the people of the world they were visiting, to which she focused on the path that was in front of them, that seemed to have a path heading higher up the mountain, "Come on, let's get moving and see what Hades has in mind for us this time around."
The area ahead of them happened to be where they encountered a large number of Heartless, as in several Large Bodies, at least ten Shadows and fifteen Soldiers, and even seven Air Soldiers, something that caused them to stand there for a couple of seconds before summoning their weapons. Sombra knew this was a sign that things were getting bad, because there were far more Heartless than what they were used to dealing with, because usually the first groups of enemies during the start of an adventure were more like three to five, seven to ten at the most, but this was far more than before. Over thirty Heartless in a single group was just insane by her reckoning, for the start of an adventure, though that didn't stop them from rushing at their enemies as they split up, each of them assaulting their chosen targets as Sombra decided to wield her light and dark Keyblades, as the Runeblade wasn't needed right now. At the same time Radiant wielded one of the newest spells they had figured out during their training, that of the Water element, allowing her to summon twin bolts of water that slammed into her targets and knocked them backwards, all while dealing damage to the Soldiers that were her targets.
It was pure chaos as they clashed with the Heartless, especially when Sombra noticed that these ones were already stronger than all of the others that were at the start of their previous adventures, meaning Tenebris was taking this seriously and had stronger enemies for them to fight, and even though they won everyone huffed for a moment.
"So... it seems like we'll have to take things much more series this time around." Seras commented, because while that had been the plan from the start, since there was no telling what Tenebris had in mind for the other worlds of the World, this was just confirmation that they had to keep their guards up to avoid being taken down by all of their enemies, all while Sombra captured the cluster of hearts that were freed from the Emblem Heartless they wiped out.
Sombra nodded as they continued to press forward, though this time they had another skill to use, that of 'free running', the art of running up certain flat surfaces and heading up or across them, as it allowed them to move higher in the area while keeping an eye out for something, anything, that would help the group find Hercules. They had learned and mastered a good number of new skills to help them navigate the worlds that would be placed in danger by Sombra's brother, and Sora was pleased to see that they were coming in handy already, especially since none of them knew what the future held for them this time around. Radiant and the others were also happy to see that they had been able to master their new powers in time for this adventure, since it meant that they didn't have to worry about falling behind or doing something stupid at the wrong time, and it wasn't long before they reached the upper area of the part of the mountain they were in. Such a thing allowed them to walk out to a ledge and notice that there was a large city off in the distance that seemed to be under fire, which had to mean that Hades was attacking it to keep Hercules busy, or the Heartless were just having fun on their own.
As Sora mentioned that Hercules was likely in that area the wind whipped around them for a moment before a bust of dark energy moved down to where they were standing, crashing into the ground before Hades formed before their eyes, though while that happened Sombra noticed that the mountain was far larger than any of them expected.
"All right, I know I dotted my I's, crossed my T's, and zeroed the hero... so who is uttering that jerks name?" Hades remarked, though in the next moment he noticed them standing there and seemed to be torn between frowning in disinterest or just growling in annoyance, especially when he laid eyes on Sombra again, since he knew she was a problem for his plans, "Oh, it's just you guys... oy vey."
"So, stand down and you won't be beaten again." Sombra stated, because she really hoped Hades would do the right thing and just back off now that he knew they were visiting his world once more, though at the same time she suspected that he would just attack them and be brought down in some manner, just like before, while the others readied their weapons.
"Whoa, what is this, Sparta? Besides, I don't have time to toss around the old fire and brimstone with you." Hades said, as if he had more important things to do right now, which made sense since he seemed to be behind the attack on the city that was off in the distance, though this did seem to bring a smile to his face as he turned towards the massive mountain they had been climbing for the last few minutes, "The whole cosmos is basically waiting for me to, you know, conquer it... and this time around I have the full power of the Titans at my disposal, not the fragmented power you faced in the past. Care for a brief demonstration of my great power?"
It wasn't much of a question as Hades called on the power of the Titans, where Sombra confirmed that four of them were up along the path to what had to be Olympus, since that seemed to be Hades' end goal, where she spotted the Earth and Ice Titans, along with one that looked like a tornado and one made of magma. What they discovered was that one caused the earth to shake, one caused the wind to kick up, one made it chilly, and the last caused magma or lava to move down part of the mountain, but in the face of Radiant's elemental power they just stood there as she cancelled the magic out. In the end Sombra had her cancel out the spell while she protected them, allowing them to be sent flying off into the distance, since she was sure that focusing all of the full power of the Titans into a single area would break the mountain and cause destruction that wasn't necessary. Plus she knew that this would allow them to figure out where Hercules was resting, which meant they could tell him what was going on and then accurately plan out how to deal with the dangers that were ahead of them, and a single glance at the others told them that she had a plan, and their return glances told her that they trusted her.
Sure enough they were thrown straight towards the city that was under attack, where they found Hercules doing something that was likely helping the people of the city, and when he noticed the magical sphere coming his way he jumped into the air and caught it, allowing him to bring them down to the ground, thus allowing Sombra to dismiss the barrier so they could touch the ground once more.
"It's nice to see you guys again... and dropping in this time. I'm impressed." Hercules said, though at the same time he turned his gaze towards the city, which was partly on fire and was being attacked by Heartless, beings that he was used to fighting thanks to Hades' various arena battles, even though there were new ones he hadn't faced before, "Bet you can guess what's going on right now."
"Hades is trying to conquer the cosmos, or so he told us." Sombra remarked, though at the same time she glanced at the Heartless that were spreading out to cause chaos among the city, to keep Hercules distracted so Hades could conquer the realm of the gods, since that seemed to be the plan right now, causing her to draw her Keyblades again, "Shall we get started on tearing through his forces, saving the people, and then stopping him in his tracks?"
Hercules nodded his head as he fell in with the group, because he knew that working with them was the best thing right now since their weapons were the key to destroying all of the Heartless, all while Sora and the others braced themselves for the rest of the dangers that this world, and Hades for that matter, had to throw at them this time around.
