War: Fighting in the Toy Store

Previous ChapterNext Chapter

After dealing with the Toy Soldiers, some of which were able to enter the Gigas toys and control them since there just so happened to be a seat for a pilot to sit in, Sombra and the others glanced around the area for a time, mostly to see if they could track down Young Xehanort since he was likely still watching them.

"So, what were you talking about earlier? He said something about 'copying' the world... and then you called him a moron for saying such a thing." Woody asked, because the topic had gone right over his head when they found the other toy that was a stranger in their world, but he did understand that he was a danger to everyone, while at the same time finding that Buzz was saddened by how the Heartless had forced some toys to fight them.

"Because he didn't copy the world, he and my idiot brother just twisted together the threads of two different timelines, thus making what you're currently seeing." Sombra replied, though at the same time she found that the remainder of the toys, the soldiers, Rex, and Hamm, went out to explore the rest of the toy store, before letting out a sigh as she wondered what else her brother had damaged since taking over Xehanort's forces, "Basically you guys have been ripped out of the timeline that is your home and have been brought to a version of your world that allows you to use your weapons like actual weapons... I would hazard a guess that the yous from this world are somewhere in the world you came from, displaced and scattered, as per Young Xehanort's twisted studies."

"You seem to know quite a lot on the subject. Can you fix this mess?" Buzz inquired, because he suspected that if Sombra knew so much about time and how not to mess with it, which he assumed was true based on what they were hearing, she had to know how to undo the damage that's been caused so far and fix the problem that he and Woody had been dealing with since their friends mysteriously vanished.

"Yes... but also no. Right now we're engaged in a conflict with Young Xehanort, my brother, and their forces, and we don't have the time required to separate the timelines safely... I could destroy both worlds on accident." Sombra stated, as she knew why Buzz was asking this, in fact she would have asked the same question if she was in his position, but she knew that this was a bad idea since they didn't have the time for her to study the spellwork and then formulate how to reverse it, and if she made one mistake she could destroy both versions of this world, or do something even worse, "Trust me, I want to fix the damage they've done so far, but we just don't have the time. Once they are taken down, and we have a chance to relax, I can assure you that I'll undo what they've done to your world."

It was clear that Buzz wasn't okay with this, or maybe he wasn't fine with the fact that they were now being forced to fight toys who were being possessed, but at the very least Woody seemed to convince him that helping Sora and the others would benefit them in the long run, since driving off Young Xehanort seemed like a good thing to him. Following that Sora pointed out how they were going to get to the upper levels of the store, since they couldn't use the elevators and he suspected that it would be rude to force Sombra to carry everyone repeatedly if they moved between the floors constantly, and what he was looking at was a gumball machine with rails leading to the second floor, third floor, and ceiling. As they crossed the floor it allowed them to see that Galaxy Toys was an interesting place and definitely had something for everyone, from baby toys to the toys that kids and even teenagers seemed to like, the latter more in a more collective sense. After thinking about that the group headed into the gumball machine and made their way up to the rail that would bring them to the second floor, while Sombra kept an eye out for Young Xehanort or the mysterious stranger who disappeared after she spotted her.

What they discovered on the second floor was that there were a number of Toy Soldiers rushing towards the various shops, only to stop and turn towards the group as they realized that the warriors were there, causing them to engage the Heartless while also carefully eliminating those that tried to jump into the Gigas.

Eventually they entered a shop with a stand for some 'Monstrous Monsters', giant Gigas sized toys that were monsters and had weapons, in the form of cannons and guns, on their backs, where they discovered that some of the red ones had been possessed by darkness, the power of the Heartless. There were two other types according to the boxes, one walked on four legs, almost like the Groundshaker from the Pride Lands, that was purple colored, while the other one was tall and teal, but all three of them were lizard creatures of some kind. As they clashed with the toys, something that Buzz steeled himself for since he wanted to protect his friends and found that the toys were attacking them without them provoking them, Sombra noticed that Fluttershy was tending to the lizard toys as if they were living critters. When the light gathered around the dark emblem of the Heartless, however, both Sombra and Sora realized what they could do as they loosed beams of light into the area that the dark marks were in, pushing out a group of dark cloud Heartless that were controlling dolls, meaning they had to be Marionettes.

As Sombra and the others dealt with the Marionettes, allowing her to capture their hearts, they found that their work had been successful, all of the monsters had been freed from the Heartless, but it was more than that, they were awake, just like Woody and his friends, as if their Keyblades had awakened them. Following that they also found Rex on a toy plane that was connected to the ceiling, how Sombra had no idea and she wasn't interested in figuring it out, though this did open a vent for them to reach one of the locked stores on the third floor. Woody and Buzz made sure that the dinosaur went back to the entrance, when Fluttershy and Seras caught him before he hurt himself, though once that was done they decided to rush up to the vent and see if they were right in thinking it was important, and they were proven right when a green soldier came out and told them that one of their members was missing. Apparently their radios worked, allowing them to converse, and they knew that the missing one was somewhere in 'Babies and Toddlers', which was where Hamm was last seen, causing the group to thank him for the assistance as they headed up the vents without wasting time.

There were a few Heartless in the vents, just Shadows, Large Bodies, and Nocturnes, plus a new pole cannon shaped type of foe that fired blasts, a 'Pole Cannon' Sombra guessed, though she caught their hearts as she and the others tore through all of them, as they weren't very good either.

Such a thing allowed them to find a number of toys on the walls, just like the floor below them, though these seemed more like what little girls might like, since Sombra found a number of dolls and animal plushies, but the Marionettes were the first foes taken out first, to prevent being overwhelmed by toys. Following that they spotted toys that matched the name of this area, toys that were made of wood and made for toddlers, and yet the toys were quite nice looking, which might be to bring in more customers since parents would follow the desires of their kids at times. One thing all of them agreed on was the fact that the soldier mentioned music and there was only one place for that in this room, which appeared to be a record player that was connected to a number of frog toys that appeared to be musicians. The reason for that was because when Woody and Sora ran on it the frogs started playing, so Sombra used her magic to keep it going so they could investigate the one that was off the mark, the tuba, and inside it happened to be the missing soldier, who told them he had been stuffed into the musical instrument by something.

As it turned out Hamm was hiding inside the dollhouse, and when they opened it the group discovered that the one that had attacked the green soldier, a tall girly doll that was intended for young girls, though just like before the group quickly used the power of their Keyblades and liberated her, crushing the Marionette in the process.

"You know, I'm starting to dislike that toy... seeing others as nothing more than tools." Buzz commented, though at the same time the doll, who was dressed like a maid with fake rabbit ears, seemed to be recovering from the haze that she had been put under, but she remembered that her name was 'Amber', which was good news.

"Yeah, Young Xehanort is kind of a monster, isn't he?" Sombra remarked, where she opened part of the glass window that was in front of them, it was designed to open based on what they were seeing, only to find that a flying saucer was flying into another portion of the shop with the three aliens, causing them to sigh for a moment, "At least this will be easy."

Woody and Buzz found that Sombra wasn't joking at all, her magic was more than enough to seize control of the possessed ship, while the damage everyone else dealt to it destroyed the Marionette that had tried to abduct the aliens, who seemed saddened by the loss of the ship.

"Well... you weren't kidding." Woody said, though this was good for them, as it meant everyone was accounted for and they could get them out of here before they worried about the other toy, but as he said that Seras found that the door below them opened and Rex happened to be heading in there.

As it turned out the shop was a game store, where Rex was looking for the guide on 'Verum Rex', which happened to be the game that they had seen the trailer for before they warped down to this world, in fact there was a poster and other things of the main character, Yozora. This seemed to be a trap on Young Xehanort's part as he tried to take control of Buzz, for some odd reason, though Sombra liberated him not a few seconds later, causing the young man to take a step back as he quickly realized that he wouldn't be able to fulfill his plan this time around. Sombra and Young Xehanort stared at each other for a few seconds, each silently daring the other to make a move, where she could see that the young man seemed to be silently debating how to go about this, especially since he knew just how smart and strong she really was. In the next moment he loosed a burst of darkness as he escaped into a Dark Corridor, fleeing to another world entirely, where Sombra and the rest of the group found that the orb transformed into an arena made of toys with what appeared to be a unique dark saucer in the center of it, baring the Heartless Emblem.

Sombra found that it was like the Armor Heartless, in terms of coloration, and it's ability was a defensive type to stop itself from taking too much damage at one time, and it seemed to have missiles to fight back with, but in all honesty there wasn't much for them to worry about as she and the others smashed it, allowing her to capture it's heart as they returned to the game shop.

"So, he ran away... he's hollower than any toy I've seen." Woody commented, though at the same time he and Buzz looked at each other before nodding and then faced the group that was in front of them, because it looked like they had something they wanted to talk about before Sora and his friends departed to chase down the figure and his allies, "Sora, can we help you fight your enemies? It seems like your fight might be bigger than you originally thought."

"I want to say no... but something tells me we might need all the help we can get." Sora replied, because he knew that they had to keep the order between the worlds, to prevent chaos and whatnot, but at the same time Tenebris was going to break every rule that was keeping the World safe and sound, and he suspected they might be calling in some old friends when the time came, "Sombra, what do you think?"

"It all depends on how bad the damage to the World gets, but knowing Tenebris... well, keep your eyes open and help out all of the new toys that have woken up today." Sombra stated, as he understood that the monsters, Gigas, and even the Amber maid doll might be drawn into the conflict if her brother damaged the fabric of reality too much, which was why she was hoping they could stop him before he did something incredibly stupid, and as she said that she spotted the bronze dragon figure slipping into the shadows again, "Something tells me we might be needing all the help we can get."

This was one of those times where she hoped she was wrong, that this wasn't going to be a war involving all of space and time, that her brother wasn't stupid enough to put the entire World in danger for the power of Kingdom Hearts, and sighed as she wondered what the coming days had in store for her, her friends, and the rest of the World.
