I'll Make Them Whole

This doesn't make sense. I killed every single Necromorph I came across. So how was there another Necromorph stowed away on my ship? I need answers. It can't be Kendra. I saw her die before my eyes. I also killed the Hive Mind which killed her. I'm sure of it.

"Uh, okay! This will do!", SMG4 said.

"Well, this feels familiar", SMG3 replied.

"That's... not a ship, though. That's just Mario's head. How do you expect us to... oh, you're going inside of his mouth", Isaac said. With no other choice, he followed the other survivors into Mario's mouth. "Now what?"

"Imma going to fly for you", Mario said as he took off, making airplane noises.

"So, what exactly are we looking for?", Applejack asked Isaac.

"A Hive Mind. It's a massive worm-like creature", Isaac answered.

"Hive Mind? Then the Changeling Kingdom is our next stop", Rainbow Dash said.

"Wait... where am I going?", Mario asked. Rainbow Dash flew out of Mario's nose and saw that he was headed in the wrong direction.

"Well, not in this direction", Rainbow Dash answered. She turned Mario around to make him face the direction of the Changeling Kingdom.

"Okie-dokie...", Mario said as Rainbow Dash flew back inside Mario's head. The plumber headed towards the Changeling Kingdom.

"What are changelings in this world?", Isaac asked.

"Basically bug horses", Applejack answered.

It's the best lead I've got. Necromorphs aren't bugs, but some bugs do have a hive mind. It makes sense logically. Maybe I can find some clues.

At the Changeling Kingdom, the survivors landed on the outskirts of the kingdom as Mario reverted back to normal. A changeling Necromorph lunged at them, but Isaac killed with his Plasma Cutter. "Well, there's Necromorphs here", Isaac said as he saw the castle coated with blood. The survivors all saw a larger Necromorph patrolling the castle. Applejack gave Hope to Mario.

"Keep her safe, will ya? SMG4 told me you've babysat before", Applejack asked as she, Isaac, Rainbow Dash, and the Super Meme Guardians ran towards the castle. Hope looked at the plumber and laughed because of how stupid Mario looked in her eyes.

"Shut the fuck up!", Mario complained.

Just as I thought. Bigger Changeling Necromorphs means different ranks on the monarchy ladder, just like in an actual hive.

The patrolling Necromorph, who was actually the Pharynx Necromorph, saw the five survivors running and transformed into a deformed flying spider-like monster. The flying spider-like monster Pharynx Necromorph roared as it shot a web at the survivors, but Isaac cut the web with his Plasma Cutter and leaped onto the flying spider-like monster Pharynx Necromorph. "Hey, ugly! Where's your monarch?!", Isaac tauntingly asked as it was revealed that the flying spider-like monster Pharynx Necromorph's roar was actually a summoning call as several Changeling Necromorphs began attacking Isaac. However, the Meme Guardians used their Plasma Cutters to take on the horde as Isaac continued fighting the flying spider-like monster Pharynx Necromorph. "Come on, man! Just tell me!" He eventually decapitated the flying spider-like monster Pharynx Necromorph as the Meme Guardians finished off the horde. "Ah, well. Why didn't you two do anything?" He pointed to the lesbian couple.

"Our abilities won't work here", Applejack replied.

"It's how the Changelings defend themselves", Rainbow Dash added as the survivors entered the castle, hacking and slashing their way through the Changeling Necromorphs. They eventually made it to the throne room, where a massive army of Changeling Necromorphs awaited. Isaac and the Meme Guardians all activated their Plasma Cutters and assumed battle stances.

"I assume we've found where the monarch resides", Isaac said as the army converged on the survivors. "Remember: decapitation!" However, a rumbling was felt by the survivors as a massive Nexus arm emerged from the ground. "HOLY SHIT!!! RUN!!!" The survivors ran for their lives as the Nexus destroyed the castle and its inhabitants. Applejack looked behind her to see a familiar shade of green on the arm chasing them.

"Thorax?!", Applejack asked as she and the survivors escaped the castle and the Thorax Nexus roared into the sky. It was so massive Mario could see it.

"That's a huge bitch!", Mario commented as the Thorax Nexus looked down at the other five survivors. However, it heard Mario's comment as saw the plumber holding the baby.

"OH, NO, YOU DON'T!!!", Rainbow Dash screamed as she rammed into the monster, which did absolutely no damage. The Thorax Nexus grabbed the Pegasus and devoured her as it continued towards the plumber.

"NO!", Applejack screamed as she ran after the monster. However, she was too late as the Thorax Nexus grabbed Mario and Hope.

"You're ugly", Mario said. Offended, the Thorax Nexus roared. However, Isaac attacked the Thorax Nexus with his Plasma Cutter as he climbed onto the monster's head.

"YEE-HAW!", Isaac screamed as he cut into the Thorax Nexus's ultra-tough skin. However, the Plasma Cutter was weak against the Thorax Nexus, so the Thorax Nexus grabbed Isaac and tossed him aside. "Ow." Applejack watched in horror as the Thorax Nexus devoured Mario and Hope. Her daughter and wife, both dead. She grabbed Isaac's Plasma Cutter and stabbed herself in the heart, killing herself. "Oh, there it is." Isaac grabbed his Plasma Cutter as SMG4 used a 1-UP Mushroom to revive Applejack.

"Huh. I didn't think that would work", SMG3 said.

"I have one left", SMG4 responded. Suddenly, the Thorax Nexus exploded as a gargantuan Mario leaped into the air and reverted back to his original size, performing a superhero landing with a deceased Rainbow Dash in his arms. "Oh, right! He had a Mega Mushroom!" Hope emerged from under Mario's hat as SMG4 used his final 1-UP Mushroom to revive Rainbow Dash. "The little one needs both of her mommies. However, that was my last 1-UP Mushroom. If we die, there's no going back now."

"Well... I guess we just have to stay alive, right?", Isaac asked. "I'm a master at staying alive. Let's end this invasion... together." The survivors left the Changeling Kingdom, unaware of what they just unleashed by killing the Thorax Nexus as a moon with a familiar angry face appeared in the atmosphere above the decimated castle.
