The psychotic gentlegriff
C13 self reflection and check ups
Previous ChapterNext ChapterWhen I awoke, my mind was in turmoil with the decision I had made. To find the other two Necrovine artefacts. My plan was simple I would acquire them, but not bond with the artefacts. No I would study them in every way possible, after all power isn’t something I desire to a great extent. I won’t deny that I wouldn’t mind having that kind of power tho. Could be helpful in the future. As for finding out that I’ve become one with an ancient artefact, it’s quite unsettling but not unwelcome. The ability to subconsciously repair my own body is very convenient and apparently I can control all the cells and atoms within my body too. But doesn’t that mean I could live indefinitely, right? No I don’t think it’s as easy as that, after all one of these artefacts stops the aging process of the body. But I’ll have to run some tests, because it might be a case of my body can repair itself but not indefinitely. Oh so many questions that need answering and so little time, a hundred years of life isn’t enough to answer them all, I’m going to need to find those artefacts.
Then nurse Sweet Tone walked into the room that Anubis was placed in. She was concerned about the griffon, because he didn’t behave how the other foals were. Although this could be explained by his age, but he didn’t even know that. So why is he so calm and unaffected by the events that had transpired. She locked eyes with the young griff and she saw inner conflict? But just as she was about to say something, his eyes reverted back to that kind and inviting gaze he has been wearing since yesterday afternoon. She knew what was going on, or so she thought. “Anubis what’s wrong? And please don’t say it’s fine, you’ve been through a horrible experience. It’s okay you can talk to me about it. I promise, Anubis it isn’t healthy to bottle it up.” Sweet tone spoke in a motherly tone, trying to get Anubis to stop locking his emotions away. But little did she know that he had not seen his experience as traumatic. But when he looked back on it he realised that he had allowed his hate to get the better of him. He could use this to his advantage, he was going to play this game and be the helpless victim of a mad scientist.
“Nurse Sweet Tone I’m… I don’t know ok I’m confused, I’m lost with no idea what’s going to happen to me. (Sniffle) I’m trying to keep my composure b-but I don’t know how to.” The nurse rushed over to the young griff as he started to brake down, stroking the feathers on his head and began rocking him as Anubis buried his face in her fur. He felt bad about deceiving her but it would raise more questions if he didn’t show signs of traumatisation. Although his tears were a product of very real pain, he knew he was going to tell someone soon but he didn’t want that. The only one to know was the individual who had caused him such suffering as a child, but Anubis had made sure that he was put through endless suffering before death. He knew that he wasn’t any better than his long since dead tormentor, but at least he killed all of his test subjects at the end of an experiment as to put them out of their misery. But now that his mind wasn’t occupied with running tests and making weapons to kill in inhumane ways. He began to realise how much of a hypocrite he had become and this revelation hit him like a bullet to the spine. He stiffened up and began to cry uncontrollably in nurse Sweet Tone’s hooves.
“Anubis, that’s it let it out. Let the pain out, it’s okay, you’re safe now. Nopony is going to hurt you now, everything’s going to be okay.”
The sweet and calming words of nurse Sweet Tone hit Anubis in a place that he had thought to be unresponsive, his heart. He had felt it tighten up, speculating that he was having a heart attack but no that couldn’t be it now. No, he was feeling safe? In another creature’s presence no less, he did not dislike the feeling but he didn’t want to get used to it. After all he didn’t like the thought of being reliant on another for safety, but here he was weak, vulnerable and being comforted by a pony no less. This new world was a truly wondrous one. With those thoughts, he brought himself back down to reality. No matter where he was, how cheerful the inhabitants were. He knew where there’s power, there will always be corruption.
He thought to himself that this act he was putting on for the nurse had become very real and he hated it. He also now knew that he had something wrong with him… well other then his desire to make weapons and experiment.
“Anubis do you feel any better after letting that out?”
“Oddly enough, yes I do Sweet Tone. Thanks for that, I guess I… did need that Hehehe.”
Nurse Sweet Tone gave Anubis a questioning gaze. “What so funny? Have I got something on my face?” She said in a playful manner.
“Hehehe, no no, you don’t but has any pony told you that you’d make a wonderful mother.”
The nurse’s faced lit up like a beacon of embarrassment. “Oh um, no they haven’t, but thank you Anubis, that means a lot to me. But enough flattery from you now, because it’s not going to get you any more food or special treatment.” She teased after recovering from her moment of embarrassment.
“Aw darn, foiled again. So what’s for breakfast And is there any plans for the day?”
“Well…” she started in a nervous tone.
“Well what?” Anubis tilted his head slightly.
“Anubis please remain calm, but Doctor Tender needs to do a check up on you. But if it gets too uncomfortable for you, you can tell him to stop, Okay.” She had a nervous smile on her face but Sweet Tone didn’t know how he would react to hearing that.
“Oh okay that’s fine I guess.”
That’s fine? I thought, (sigh) never mind this is the best response I could have asked for. “That’s good to know, oh and here’s your breakfast Anubis. You got scrambled eggs with toast and a glass of orange juice.”
“Really? Wow I didn’t think I’d get to have scrambled eggs, thank you Sweet.”
“Hehehe you’re welcome Anubis but you should be thankful that the princess was able to get this food on such short notice.”
“Yeah I’ll let her know when I next see her. But right now I’ve got food that’s not in my belly.”
“Hehehe okay I’ll leave you alone whilst you eat, I’ll be back in 5 minutes to take you to doctor Tender Care’s office. Bye bye Anubis.”
“See you in a bit Sweet Tone.”
With that nurse Sweet Tone left the griffon’s room with a bit more pep in her step.
When Sweet Tone came back, she had brought Dr Tender Care. And they gestured for Anubis to follow them out. He complied with them and made his way off the bed. When he was in the medical wing’s hallway he noticed that there was a glaring lack of ponies. “Excuse me, dr Tender were is every-pony?”
“They have went home, but some of them have to come back here to receive therapy. As for you, well you understand that we need to find you a home. Maybe even a job, you are seventeen after all.”
“That sounds fun. I’m good at making tea, if that’s anything.”
“Maybe you could work as a butler or servant, maybe even an assistant.”
“Yeah and we still need to research my um. well, body’s ability to repair rapidly.”
“Yes that must be researched.”
“Excuse me, what! How did you find out that your body can heal itself quickly? Anubis!”
“Um well you see, Sweet Tone I may or may not of had a tiny little accident yesterday morning. But it wasn’t bad by any means I can assure you.”
“Doctor did you know about this?”
“Yes I did and I have my reasons for not telling you and nurse Cross. But that doesn’t matter now, anyway we’re here. Are you ready to have your check up Anubis?”
“Let’s get this over with doc.”
As nurses Sweet Tone trotted away, she thought it was weird. Anubis was having a check up when he was thoroughly examined by her and Tender Care. It didn’t make sense but maybe it’s to help build trust and ask him about those awful scars that are scattered across his body.

Within the doctor’s office a bright light blinded both of the occupants, the a regal white alicorn appeared. Dr Tender bowed to the princess of the sun, whilst Anubis jumped sat still rubbing his eyes, trying to regain vision. “Doctor, Anubis good morning to the both of you.”
“Good morning Princess Celestia, it’s a pleasure to have you here for this examination.”
“Ah yes it was a splendid morning until I was blinded by the sun. But nice to hear you Celestia, I would say see you but I still can’t see to well.”
“I’m sorry for that Anubis. But it was the only way I could get here in such short notice, but I don’t have to much time so please forgive my tardiness.”
“Oh of course princess right away, let’s begin. So Anubis we’re already seen the scars on your body, please could you tell us how you got them? And if you can remember when you were taken from your home, we would like to know.”
Anubis’s breath hitched in his throat, but he knew he needed to answer. Celestia didn’t fail to noticed his breathing stop, but only for a second. She want to tell him that he didn’t have to answer the question but she needed to know if they could be healed. “I got them a long… long time ago. There surgical scars, and-and it happened when I was. 5 I think but it was difficult to know because we were kept in an underground bunker. I was the only one who made it out, everyone else died or lost their minds.” He had began to ramble on and didn’t even realise that he was no longer on the ground. Celestia had pick him up and began to comfort the now rambling griff. He continued to speak for 3 minutes straight. The princess of the sun listened intently to him and what she heard was sickening to say the least. She had see evil before, the monsters locked away in Tartarus was a testimony of that. But this was worse than anything she had ever seen or heard of before. Organ transplants, live dissection and forcefully infecting them with experimental drugs, vaccines and viruses. Just for the sake of entertainment. And the worst part was they only tested on the most vulnerable of society, the young and naive. The poor and trusting. This was mortifying and Celestia felt a sick sense of relief when Anubis explained the horrific fate of the ones responsible for such atrocities. But it was a horrible way to die she thought, having your insides slowly liquefied must be an agonising experience.
When the griffon finished his tirade he finally felt his body being held by someone, or in this case somepony. But who? He asked himself, then it clicked, this was Celestia’s hooves and wings that he was being held by. “Um Celestia? can you put me um, back on the ground please. I know, I’m small but I’m still seventeen and I would like to keep what’s left of my dignity please.”
“Oh my, I’m so sorry Anubis, I just um wanted to make you feel comfortable and secure. I didn’t know you were uncomfortable.”
“Well that’s fine, but I sort of lost myself to my ranting, so my bad.” Anubis gave a nervous laugh to Celestia, then Dr Tender interrupted. “So Anubis can you tell us who killed this Mr Red?”
“I don’t know. All I know is that I found him with his organs melting through his skin and his skeleton was soft and sticky. He had a look of horror and pain on his face.”
“Ok, Anubis that’s a bit too much detail.”
“Um so anything else you would like to um know about?” Anubis asked in a nervous tone.
“Actually, yes. Do you know how you got the scar that goes all around your neck?”
“Um well I nearly had my head cut off by Mr red on the first day I met him. It was an experience to say very little on the encounter.” Both Princess Celestia and dr Tender could tell that they had made Anubis remember something he had most likely wanted to forget. Dr Tender thought that the victims that didn’t survive that ordeal were the lucky ones who didn’t have to suffer anymore. But this griffon was the only one who experienced it and lived. He was sceptical at first but seeing the raw emotion in Anubis’s eyes and words, and he crushed those doubts.
“Could we change the subject please I don’t like talking about it.”
“Oh of course Anubis what’s on your mind?”
“Well Celestia, I want to know what my body’s limits are?”
“Know your limits? What do you mean… oh um I don’t want you to be hurt, but if you really want to I can’t stop you. But you’re forbidden from doing anything life threatening, and have to be supervised when you’re doing it.” She understood what Anubis wanted to do, but she didn’t like the idea of this already tortured griff, getting himself hurt or worse. “Dr Tender, I’m so glad you volunteered to watch him. That means you will be responsible for any accident, Tender Care.”
“Thanks princesse for such an opportunity and don’t worry I’ll make sure Anubis doesn’t get hurt.”
“Good, Doctor. I’ll also have my captain of the wonderbolts, teach Anubis how to fly and preen his wings. Oh and Anubis have you made a decision on whether you want to live with the Storm’s or not?”
“I have Celestia, I don’t believe that it would be a good idea to stay with them. Because I don’t want to burden them with my problems.”
Celestia gave a sigh and looked at Anubis with a worried expression. “Oh Anubis, you wouldn’t be a burden on them.” But Anubis cut her off.
“No, Celestia. It’s for the best, believe me and I still haven’t gotten to show you how much more superior my tea is to yours.” He gave a confident grin and puffed his exceptionally fluffy chest out.
“So when do I get to learn to fly?”
“You start next week with Captain Sky Star of the wonderbolts. She’s been informed about… well you and what’s happened of course. If she gets overbearing, please let me know. Well that’s all the time, I’ve got for now, after all I’ve got to prepare for the king of the griffons’s visit next Wednesday so I’ll be leaving you two, now.”
“Goodbye Celestia, have fun delegating and stuff.”
“Goodbye princess, it was a pleasure speaking with you today.”
“Goodbye Doctor, oh and Anubis I’ll have Captain Graceful escort you to my private dining room for dinner. I look forward to trying your tea.”
“Hell yeah. Believe me, you won’t regret trying some of my secret blend.” Anubis said in a casual but confident tone.
The solar Alicorn did not know what “hell yeah” meant but judging by the way Anubis used it. It must have been a good thing, she thought. Then in a bright flash of light she had vanished.
“So Dr Tender, when do we start testing?”
“Sorry but not to day, I’ve got some other patients that need attention. You’re not the only one I’m looking after, some of the royal guards have had training accidents and need to be checked on. But how did you know that little plan of yours would work?”
“What, you mean having you volunteered to watch over me, just in case I try to test my body’s ability, again. Then asking Celestia to allow me to run tests on myself. I only set up the conditions that would allow her to make a decision that I liked.”
“I don’t know if I should be concerned, or impressed that you accomplished something that the nobles have been trying to accomplish since the Dawn age of Equestria. Making the princess choose the option you wanted.”
“Well that’s probably for the best Doctor. I don’t plan on making a habit of this.” And the Dawn age? I need to read some books. “Ah yes that’s what I’ll do today! Dr Tender Care is there a library in this castle and if so, please may I go there to educate myself? After all I’ve only ever been able to read test results in the bunker. Oh I didn’t get to thank Celestia for the breakfast, OH NOOoo.”
“Oh of course, I don’t see any reason why you wouldn’t be allowed to go there, I’ll have a guard escort you there.”
“Thank you kindly good doctor.” As dr Tender made his way to the nearest guard he thought about how easy it is to mistake Anubis for a fellow doctor. Which is a unsettling thought.

Princess Celestia’s POV
Princess Celestia teleported into her private study.
Aah back to work, yay for me. She thought sarcastically but her mind was brought back to Anubis. Well not really Anubis himself, but how soft his fur and feathers were… “ah Celestia get your head in the game. You have work to do and you’ll get to see him at dinner. So there’s no need to think about that playful, fluffy bundle of feathers, right now.” Did I just call him playful? No playful’s not the right word for him, he’s-he’s…. Ah he’s over confident! Yeah that’s the words I’d use for him. Thinking that his tea is better than my own blend.
But I wouldn’t deny that it a little weird having some-creature call me by just my name. But it’s a good weird, one that I like quite a lot. Anyway now, enough distractions, Tia you have a visit to plan. They’re going to need 4 royal guest rooms and sleeping arrangements for a hundred griffon guards and 5 days worth of food, that the griffons will like. Oh this is going to be difficult to, at least my chefs can prepare meat based cuisines of a royal calibre. I can only hope that King Silverclaw is easier to deal with than his predecessor, but that would be a miracle. Then again miracles do happen and maybe he might even know what breed of griffon, Anubis is. The only guarantee is that his wife Queen Blackfeather will be pleasant to speak with, because she’s a good acquaintance of mine. Oh and I’m curious on how much princess Silverfeather has grown up. She’s like 19 now.
I guess it’s not that bad doing all this work because it’ll definitely be worth it in the end.
And she got back to work on the arrangement for the Royal visit with the griffon kingdom.
