In the far reaches of Equestria, where few ponies ever tread, there is a town of misfits just trying to make it through the days. In such a place, while the Equestrian royal laws do hold power, they are given less power by local ordinances, meaning some strange laws have come to exist to allow for even stranger happenstance.

Of course, strange laws bring with them a lot of exceptions and loopholes, and one of the more interesting ones allows for marriage to happen at any age.

Now, the adoption process in Equestria is long and arduous. It requires background checks, home assessments, and mountains of paperwork. Even then, you can't just pick and choose your adoptee like a piece of meat; you'll be paired up with someone who's a good match.

When Guinevere the Gryphon finds herself without a home and at the mercy of the Equestrian legal system, Jack the Donkey, her best friend's father, comes to her rescue with a plan to ensure that she grows up well.
