Flashback

As Izzy lands safely without burning, she slowly opens her eyes to see…a giant, crystallized looking butterfly made of blue magic. She looks shocked and amazed before looking at Misty, who was also on it, still holding her blade which was also glowing blue. She sees what looks to be the outline of a butterfly glowing on Misty's thigh and she slowly smiles as she realizes what it means. Misty just got her cutie mark. The butterfly flys towards an opening in one of the walls and Misty grabs Izzy.

“Hang on! This is gonna be close!” She says and Izzy instantly gets a tight grip on both the butterfly and Misty. The opening is narrow, but wide enough for them to get through. It quickly flys towards it, avoiding debris that’s still falling and managing to get through the opening, having to quickly maneuver around obstacles until it raises over one a bit too much and Misty sees something ahead at the last second, reacting too late and getting hit in the head while pushing Izzy down onto the butterfly before it disappears and her and Izzy fall and tumble forward painfully hard.

Izzy slowly gets up and looks over towards Misty, seeing her unconscious as her head is bleeding from the head injury she received. She quickly crawls over and tears off a piece of cloth attached to her suit and uses it to wrap up Misty's head, covering the injury.

“Hang on Misty. I’m gonna get you out of here and we’re gonna get help.” Izzy says before she tries to pick up Misty and continue down the opening, hoping it’ll lead them back above ground and if not, she’d just tunnel through it and make it lead them back above ground. Before she can get moving though, another violent shake causes the tunnel to start collapsing and Izzy is forced to make a shield around her and Misty, shielding them from whatever was going on out there that was making things bad in here.

A Day Later, Present Day

As Izzy blasts a small hole through the ground, she’s relieved to see that she had finally gotten herself and Misty above ground after a bunch of wrong turns. Without those happening, she would’ve gotten them there a lot sooner. That, and she had to stop and shield herself and Misty from debris a bunch of times, then blast her way back out of the mess without causing another collapse. She pulled then pushed Misty out first then climbed out, rolling onto her back and looking up at the sky, happy to be back until she notices that… the sky isn’t clear and the land isn’t all happy and green and filled with life… It’s covered in snow and the clouds are dark and grey. They were currently in a blizzard. With that knowledge, she sits up and looks around, wondering if she’s in the right place until she sees that they ended up right behind Canterlogic, albeit a few ways away.

But…what happened to Maretime Bay? This wasn’t what she remembered… She hears Misty shiver and looks over towards her, seeing her shaking and grimacing in discomfort. She sighs and looks for someplace warm to take her. She quickly moves her over to the nearby forest and uses her sword to collect wood to make a fire, piling it all up then using a small blast of magic to light it all on fire. She then takes a moment to collect her thoughts, sitting by the fire with Misty. First thing's first. The fire won’t last forever, so she needs a better way to keep Misty at least somewhat warm. Maybe Maretime Bay had something; however, she didn’t know if that was the best idea right now.

Given the fact that she didn’t see anyone she knew and Maretime Bay was in bad shape as far as she could see, she already guessed that things went wrong during and after her fight with Misty. Still, if she didn’t do something then Misty would die in this weather. Izzy was fine due to her ice powers, but Misty didn’t have that same gift. Making up her mind, she decides to go into Maretime Bay. She puts an invisibility spell over Misty to hide her from anyone who may come looking to hurt them. After that, she runs over to Maretime Bay in a hurry to find everything she might need: blankets, maybe cables, wire, or rope and something to act as a sled for Misty, and multiple layers of thick clothes to put her in. She sneaks through an alleyway, checking her surroundings and seeing ponies and other creatures in the streets. She doesn’t see her friends though and now that she really looks, she recognizes some of them as past soldiers of Midnight, including Stormcutter, Nightshade, Titania, and Ragnar.

She looks up and sees Death Bolts flying above the town and some sitting on rooftops, patrolling and keeping an eye out for intruders. Great… That was just gonna make sneaking around even harder. She tries thinking of nearby places that could have what she needed…and Mayflower's place comes to mind and the Sheriff’s Station. She just needs a plan and an opening. Seeing a few spray cans and art supplies by a dumpster, she gets an idea and grabs them, getting to changing the color of her armor until it’s fully black and purple. She then ties her mane into a bun and finds a black cloak and mask, putting them both on. She pulls the hood of the cloak over her head and continues to wait for an opening.

Once she sees one, she walks out of the alley, blending in with the crowd of villains. She tries not to draw any attention to herself, doing a pretty good job of it. She slightly smirks under her mask.

“Maximum sneaky engaged.” She mutters to herself as she moves through the crowd, quickly getting into Mayflower’s place first and finding blankets and thick layers of clothes. She also manages to find some food for the journey to Bridlewood. Afterwards, she sneaks out and starts making her way to the sheriff’s station. Halfway there, she hears a familiar voice and looks to see Sunny. She’s filled with joy and almost yells to get her attention until she takes a moment to recognize what’s going on. Sunny was wearing black and purple, her magic was purple along with her eyes, and she was talking to an evil looking version of Twilight and all this made Izzy realize…that wasn’t Sunny.

Suddenly, Dark Sunny stops talking and starts looking around and Izzy can tell that her alicorn empathy was telling her she was being watched. Izzy moves behind cover just as Dark Sunny looks over to where she was. She silently but quickly moves away and just in time as Dark Sunny rounds the corner, checking the alley she was in. Izzy sighs in relief and continues moving towards the station.

Once she gets there, she doesn’t see anyone inside but before she can go in, she hears Dark Sunny's voice echo through the city.

“Someone’s here! Everyone spread out and find them!” She shouts, causing Izzy to gain a horrified look on her face before she quickly goes inside the station and locks the doors. She goes to cover up the windows before she’s kicked in the face and sent rolling into a wall. She groans in pain and looks to see a Pegasus dressed like some sort of ninja walking towards her with two mini ice scythes ready to strike.

“Who are you…?” Izzy asks, standing up and grabbing her sword, getting in her stance afterwards.

“Before I died, I was called Snowdrop. However, you can call me Frostbite.” She says before she suddenly moves as fast as Zipp and Pipp, knocking Izzy into another wall and Izzy quickly recovers in time to block a swing of one of her scythes. She blocks another swing and jumps over a sweeping kick to the legs, stabbing downwards towards Frostbite for a killing strike, but she moves out of the way in time and sends a ice blast towards Izzy that she deflects, sending it back towards her which gets her knocked back.

Izzy tries blasting her with ice but she moves out of the way once again, appearing beside Izzy barely a second later. Izzy reacts fast enough to block the swing of one scythe but misses the second one which ends up stabbing into her leg. She doesn’t scream in pain though, knowing that would spell disaster for her. Instead, she just groans then headbutts Frostbite, spinning and elbowing her in the face which stuns her before blasting her into the open cell behind her and quickly trapping her with ice before closing the cell door, finding the keys and locking it. Good thing she remembered where Hitch usually put them. She takes a moment to catch her breath until she notices Frostbite starting to break free.

She quickly looks around and gathers everything she’ll need for Misty even as Frostbite breaks free and starts making a lot of noise to draw the attention of her allies. Izzy growls in annoyance and starts heading for the door until she sees silhouettes through the blinds then hears the door handles rattling, followed by the sound of someone trying to break the doors down. She then sees Frostbite starting to freeze the bars of the cell and decides that the ventilation system might be the best chance of escape she has. She pulls down one of the vents and tosses the supplies up into it then quickly climbs in. She has to avoid a few ice spikes stabbing through the vents and she gets scratches on her side at least once, but she makes it outside with the supplies. She climbs out onto the roof of the sheriff's station and is about to jump off until she gets tackled and taken into the sky by a Death Bolt, dropping the supplies and causing them to roll off the roof.

The Death Bolt starts punching her repeatedly until she blocks one punch and headbutts him before kicking off him and letting him and the others think she’s just falling to her death, but really, she has a plan. When she’s halfway down to the ground, she turns over and makes an ice ramp, grabbing the supplies as she slides downward then upward. She reaches the end and launches off the end of the ramp, readying a spell and slamming the magical glyph she formed down into the ground, worsening the blizzard and masking the rest of her escape.

With the snow blocking her from their view, she runs to where Misty is and sees the fire is still going but it has definitely died down a bit. She realizes she forgot to get something to make a sled for Misty and she sighs in frustration before looking at a nearby tree and getting an idea. She quickly uses her sword to slice out a big chunk of wood and carve it into a makeshift sled. She makes about four holes for the ropes and cables then loops them through them all. She then puts the blankets on the sled then puts the clothes on Misty over her armor with some difficulty. Afterwards, she puts Misty on the sled and folds the sides of the blankets over her.

“There you go Misty, all nice and cozy.” Izzy says, trying really hard to hide her worry at the realization that Misty hadn’t woken up yet. She then grabs the cables and ropes, looping them around her shoulders and testing to see if they’ll hold. When she’s satisfied, she grabs the bag of food and starts marching towards Bridlewood, leaving the fire as the only proof that they were there in the first place. “Don’t worry Misty, we’ll get to Bridlewood soon and you’ll be warmer in one of the treehouses. Then we’ll really get that spell out of your head.” She says, determined to keep her promise to Misty and the next one she makes… to Sunny.

“I’ll find you Sunny…you and our friends. Then we’ll end this, all of this, together.”

Bridlewood

Sunny jumps awake after being asleep for over half a day, looking around for any danger.

“Izzy!” Is the first word she shouts when she wakes up. She takes a moment to catch her breath, putting her head in her hands to calm down and kinda clear the sleepiness from it. She looks around and sees she’s in a bed…in a treehouse, but not just any treehouse, it was a medical station in Bridlewood. She notices that her arms are wrapped up along with her stomach, but she’s not too concerned. Right now, she just wants to know what’s going on and if everyone’s ok. Before she can get up, Twilight, Alphabittle, and Queen Haven all walk in.

“You’re awake, how are you feeling?” Twilight asks as she kneels beside Sunny to check on her. Sunny takes a moment to answer, but after a few seconds, she does.

“Uhhh… I-I feel fine. My throat is just really dry.” She says, now starting to feel how dry her throat really was. Alphabittle steps forward and holds a cup towards her.

“Good thing I brought this tea for you then. Drink it. It’ll help you.” He says and Sunny smiles a bit and takes it, taking a few sips from it and instantly starting to feel much better.

“You’re lucky a sore throat is the only problem, given everything it looked like you went through dear.” Haven says, causing Sunny to give her a questioning look. “Alphie told me that when you first got here, you looked like you had been hit by a bullet train straight into a stampeding herd of buffalo.” Haven says, gesturing to Alphabittle and Sunny has to stop for a second and process what she just heard.

Alphie…? Nope, not even gonna get into that.” Sunny thinks before she realizes what else Haven said and she looks at the bandages on her arms and stomach. “Was it really that bad…?” She asks herself in her head before she remembers what happened, all her memories rushing back to her. “Oh my god… Izzy! I-I need to find her; she needs me!” Sunny says, going to stand up until Twilight places a hand on her shoulder.

“That’s…not exactly the best idea right now. First, rest and let the tea do its thing, then when you wake up, you eat and we’ll discuss a plan and…talk about some things.” Twilight says and Sunny goes to protest, trying for a few seconds before giving up and reluctantly nodding, so many thoughts running through her mind and making it hard for her to disagree with the fact that she needed more time to recover and think. “Good. We’ll be back to check on you in about an hour tops, ok?” Twilight asks, gaining a nod from Sunny which causes her to smile before getting up and walking off with Alphabittle and Queen Haven following closely.

Sunny sighs before laying back and closing her eyes, trusting that everything will make sense in due time. For now, she just needed to rest and trust everyone to take care of things while she did. Before she drifts off to sleep, she manages one more thought.

I’ll find you Izzy…
