The girls were now in Foothill Town where a bunch of trainers gathered for the big battle tournament. Most of them the girls did not recognize while a few Turquoise did.

“We meet again, Hiro,” Turquoise said.

“I was not expecting to see you girls again so soon, are you here for the battle tournament too?” Hiro asked.

“We are,” Turquoise said. The girls each received an entry sheet to fill out. “Let’s see, it says here we can use up to three pokemon and the battles are all one on one which means we can alternate between rounds.

“So who will you be using?” Aqua asked.

“You’re just going to have to wait until the tournament starts to figure that out,” Turquoise said. Once registration closed All the trainers were gathered inside the stadium standing in front of don Frank and another man.

“Welcome everyone to the training center battle tournament sponsored by Don Frank’s training center,” the man said before Don Frank spoke. Suddenly the jumbotron showed a visual of each of the various evolution stones soaring like meteors through space.

“That right Jim, the winner of this tournament will receive a set of Fire, Water, Thunder, Leaf, Sun, Moon, Dusk, Dawn, Shiny, and Ice stones,” Don Frank said as each of the stones collided into a single crater on the screen.

“All right now trainers keep your eyes on the screen,” Jim said as the cards began spinning before the matchups appeared. “First battle, Aqua vs Clark.

“I’m not losing that easily,” a boy dressed as an ace trainer said.

“Yeah well neither am I, “Aqua said.

“Second battle, Stanley, vs Brent,” Jim said.

“Too easy,” A boy dressed in a tracksuit said.

“That’s my line,” another boy said.

“Third battle, Harley vs Turquoise,” Jim said.

“Whose harley? “Turquoise asked. Suddenly a man dressed in an outfit that resembled a Cacturne spoke.

“That would be me hun, “Harley said. Suddenly Turquoise felt like she had seen him somewhere before even though this was the first time she met him.

“Fourth battle, Owen vs Dave, “Jim said.

“You're going down, Dave, " Owen said.

“Fifth battle, Fluttershy vs Hiro, " Jim said.

“Awe, I was hoping to face Turquoise again, but you might be a fun match,” Hiro said.

“I will give it my all, “Fluttershy said.

“Sixth battle Makoto vs Lee

“I will not let Turquoise beat me again this time, " Makoto said.

“In case you forgot, I'm your opponent, “Lee said.

“Seventh battle, Arven vs Kate, “Jim said.

“Let’s make this battle a spicy one,” Arven said.

“And the eighth battle will be Fay vs Greg, “Jim said, finishing the matchups. “And now let’s begin the battle extravaganza. Aqua and Clark took their positions for the first battle. “The first battle Aqua vs Clark, The rules of this tournament allows each trainer to only use one of their three registered pokemon and no substitutions will be permitted.

“No Substitutions? I hope Aqua chooses wisely, “Fluttershy said.

“Oh I believe she will,” Turquoise said.

“Marshtomp come on out,” Aqua said as she called out Marshtomp.

“Elekid, To arms,” Clark said as he sent out a creature that looked like a yellow electric plug with arms and legs. Aqua pulled out her pokedex to learn about it.

“Elekid, The Electric pokemon, It loves violent thunder. The space between its horns flickers bluish white when it is charging energy, “the pokedex said. The battle began.

“Elekid use Thunder Punch. Elekid charged at marshtomp like a reckless child ready to hit Marshtomp which aqua was not impressed by.

“Marshtomp use Mud Shot. Marshtomp delivered a powerful mud shot which finished off Elekid in an instant.

“Elekid is unable to battle, Marshtomp is the winner, which means aqua wins the match.

“No fair, you must have cheated somehow,” Clark said like a spoiled brat.

“I did no such thing, you need to study your type-matchups more, ground type moves are super effective against electric-types, and FYI, your thunder punch would have done nothing anyway even if we stood still, “Aqua said.

“She is correct, Marshtomp is a water and ground-type so electric-type moves won’t work on it,” The ref said offering his two cents on the complaint. Clark just left in anger. The next battle went by fast with Stanley as the winner. Next up was Turquoise and Harley, the latter was acting like he was in the spotlight.

“Before we start, you wouldn’t happen to know a woman named Solidad would you?” Turquoise asked.

“I have not heard that name in quite some time, how is she? “Harley asked.

“She was doing good, that tip she gave me really helped me win the Kanto Grand Festival, “Turquoise said.

“If both trainers are ready, let the battle begin, “the ref said.

“Go Ariados,” Harley said as he called out his Ariados.

“Go Metang,” Turquoise said as she called out her Metang.

“Come on, Metang? That's your weakest pokemon, “Aqua said.

“Let’s just see what Turquoise is up to,” Fluttershy said.

“Ariados use Pin Missile. Ariados unleashed a barrage of pin Missiles which Turquosie was expecting.

“Metang use confusion to send them back. Metang’s eyes glowed blue as the pin missiles were sent back to Ariados.

“Like I was not expecting that, Ariados use Electroweb to guard. Ariados fired an electric web which caught the missiles and caused them to explode thus covering the field in a plume of smoke. “Now use Sucker punch. Ariados suddenly lunged at Metang and jabbed it with one of its front legs which resulted in some damage.

“What was that? “Aqua asked.

“Sucker punch, an underhanded move that allows the user to strike while the opponent is readying an attack,” Fluttershy explained.

“Ready to give up yet? “Harley asked.

“Never, “Turquoise said.

“Then so be it, Ariados use string shot to gunk Metang up. Ariados fired its string shot but to Harley's surprise it did not work on Metang. “What? no, that should have worked.

“Metang’s ability is Clear body which prevents you from lowering its stats, and now it’s our turn to attack. Metang use Confusion. Metang used Confusion to lift ariados off the ground before pulling it towards itself. “Now use metal claw. Metang’s claws turned metallic before slashing Ariados which resulted in a powerful hit and was enough to cause it to faint.

“Ariados is unable to battle, Metang is the winner, which means Turquoise wins the match, “the Ref said while pointing his right hand at Turquoise.

“We did it, “Turquoise said with excitement. Harley recalled his Ariados and then pulled out his camera before taking turquoise’s picture to add to his revenge book.

“Mark my words missy, you have not heard the last of me,” Harley said as he and Turquoise left the battlefield.the fourth battle went by fast and soon it was fluttershy and hiro’s turn. The two of them took their sides and called out their pokemon.

“Go Ursaring, “Fluttershy said as she called out Ursaring.

“Go Gallade,” hiro said as he sent out his Gallade. The battle began.

“Ursaring use Slash. Ursaring charged at gallade claws at the ready.

“Gallade use X-scissor. Gallade charged at ursaring and it’s X-shaped cut pushed against Ursaring until it won and dealt some major damage but not enough to beat him.

“Can you keep going Ursaring? “Fluttershy asked with ursaring nodding yes. “Then use focus Blast. Ursaring built up power before firing a blast of energy at gallade.

“Use protect. Gallade formed a berrier which blocked the energy blast. “Now use Psycho cut. Gallade unleashed a barrage of pink slashes that rained down on ursaring left and ring until he fainted.

“Ursaring is unable to battle, Gallade is the winner, which means Hiro wins the match, “The ref said while pointing his left arm at Hiro.

“Oh well, at least we tried, “fluttershy said before recalling Ursaring. The rest of the battles went by fast and soon the first round of battles was concluded.

“So how strong has Metang gotten in that battle? “Aqua asked. Turquoise used her pokedex and scanned Metang to find out.

“It gained ten whole levels from that battle, now putting it up to thirty,” Turquoise said.

“That’s great, “Fluttershy said.

“Can’t wait for the next day, “Turquoise said.

The next day, the eight trainers that made it to day two were gathered and were currently watching the jumbotron as the cards were randomized again. Soon the matchups were revealed.

“All right folks, the first battle is the much anticipated Hiro vs Turquoise, “Jim said.

“”Looks like we will battle each other once again,” Hiro said.

“Looks like it, “Turquoise said.

“Trainers choose your pokemon, “The ref said.

“Go Manectric,” Hiro said as he called out his Manectric.

“Go Grovyle,” turquoise said as she called out Grovyle.

“Battle begin,” the ref said.

“Manectric use Rain dance. Manectric fired a ball of blue energy into the air before it began to form clouds which then formed a downpour. “Now use Quick attack. Manectric charged at Grovyle.

“We will quick attack as well. Grovyled charged at Manectric equally as fast which caused both of them to push against each other

“Now Manectric use thunderbolt while Grovyle is still close. Manectric was getting ready to do so.

“Quick getaway from Manectric, Grovyle. Unfortunately, Grovyle could not escape and took some big damage thanks to rain dance making thunderbolt stronger. Grovyle was down but not out. “Come on Grovyle, get up. Grovyle tried to get up but was struggling. “YOU CAN DO IT. Suddenly Grovyle began to glow as he got back up and began to grow bigger while his body changed. Once the flash died down, a bigger anthropomorphic gecko-like creature with yellow- eyes, yellow bumps on its back, a tree-like tail, and two leaves on each arm stood where Grovyle once did. Turquoise pulled out her pokedex to learn about her new pokemon.

“Sceptile, the Forest pokemon and the final evolved form of Treecko, It agilely flits through the jungle and uses the sharp-edged leaves on its arms to cut down its prey.

“And I see you learned a new attack too, “Turquoise said.

“Congrats on Grovyle evolving, but that still won’t be enough to be us,” Hiro said.

“Then let’s keep going,” Turquoise said.

“Manectric use Thunder fang, Manectric charged at Sceptile with fangs laced in electricity.

“Sceptile use Giga Drain, Sceptile’s leaves turned into vines that caught Manectric and began draining it’s energy for Sceptile to heal himself with.

“Manectric break free and use Quick attack. Manetric broke free from the vines and charged at Sceptile.

“Let’s show him your new attack, Use Leaf Blade. Sceptile’s leaves turned into two curved blades which were then slashed at Manectric who took more damage and fainted.

“Manectric is unable to battle, Sceptile is the winner which means Turquoise wins the match,” the ref said while pointing his right arm at Turquoise.

“We did it again,” Turquoise said.

“And with that impressive win, Turquoise is the first trainer to advance to the semifinals, " Jim said as Turquosie’s picture appeared on one of the four cards on the jumbotron. The other three battles went by fast with Aqua, Arven, and Makoto also moving on to the semi finals. “And that’s it folks after four intense battles we have our semi finalists. The four cards were shuffled and the matchups were Turquoise vs Arven and Aqua vs Makoto. Immediately Turquoise and Arven took their positions.

“I must say coming to Hoenn was totally worth my time, for not only have I found some good sandwich ingredients, but strong trainers too, " Arven said.

“Thanks, “Turquoise said before the Ref told them to bring out their pokemon.

“So for a tough opponent like you, it’s time for my partner to come out., Go Mabosstiff,” Arven said as he sent out a canine-like creature that looked like a cross between a mastiff and an old man.

“What kind of pokemon is that?” Turquoise asked before pulling out her pokedex.

“Mabosstiff,The Boss pokemon, Mabosstiff loves playing with children. Though usually gentle, it takes on an intimidating look when protecting its family, “The Pokedex said.

“Go Sceptile,” Turquoise said as she called out her Sceptile.

“Battle begin, “the Ref said.

“Sceptile use Quick Attack. Sceptile wasted no time in speeding at Mabosstiff despite his bigger body. Sceptile landed a successful blow which Arven was expecting.

“Now Mabosstiff use Comeuppance. Mabosstiff retaliate at Sceptile with a much stronger attack which sent him back to the other side of the field.

“What was that?” Aqua asked.

“Comeuppance, it’s a move where the user inflicts greater damage to an opponent who last attacked it, thankfully quick attack was not that strong so Turquoise is still in this,” Fluttershy said.

“Not bad but we won’t lose that easily, Sceptile use Slam. Sceptile leaped high and flipped before trying to nail Mabosstiff with his tail.

“Dodge and use Crunch. Mabosstiff dodged and was getting ready to bite Sceptile until Turquoise reacted.

“Sceptile use Leaf Blade. Sceptile managed to nail a powerful leaf blade attack from close range and sent Mabosstiff back to arven’s side where it was down. Mabosstiff tried to get up.

“Come on bud you can do it,” Arven said as Mabosstiff tried to get back up only to faint.

“Mabosstiff is unable to battle, Sceptile is the winner, which means turquoise wins the match,” the ref said while pointing his right arm at Turquoise. Arven Approached Mabosstiff.

“You did your best out there bud, now rest, “Arven said as he recalled Mabosstiff. The next went by fast with Aqua making quick work of Makoto and her Leavanny.

“And Aqua will be joining Turquoise in the final match, " Jim said. A couple hours later it was time for the final battle. Both Turquoise and Aqua were excited for this.

“Go Marshtomp, “Aqua said as she called out her Marshtomp.

“Go Floragoto,” Turquoise said as she called out Floragoto.

“Battle begin,” The ref said.

“Marshtomp use Rock smash. Marshtomp charged at Floragoto with a fist covered in orange energy.

“Dodge and use seed bomb. Floragoto leaped up and unleashed her seed bomb.

“Marshtomp use mudshot while spinning. Marshtomp fired a stream of mud before spinning on her back and creating a countershield that not only blocked the seed bomb but dealt some damage to Floragoto while she was still in the air.

“Not a bad countershield but we are far from done, Floragoto use magical leaf. Floragoto unleashed magical leaf which aqua knew she would.

“Marshtomp use water pulse. Marshtomp fired water pulse at Floragoto and both moves successfully hit. While Marshtomp did take some heavy damage, she was able to survive. “Looks like torrent is now active so now it’s time for our comeback. Marshtomp, another Water pulse. She fired another one but this one was more powerful than the last one.

“Floragoto use worry seed. Floragoto suddenly sprouted a seed before throwing it at Marshtomp which landed successfully and caused Torrent to be canceled out and reduced the damage.

“What did you do to my Marshtomp? “Aqua asked.

“I changed her ability, “Turquoise said before explaining how Worry seed plants worry inside the target thus changing their ability to insomnia. Suddenly floragoto began to grow claws which Turquoise knew as a new move. ‘Now floragoto end this with Slash. Floragoto delivered the final blow which finished off Marshtomp.

“Marshtomp is unable to battle, Floragoto is the winner, which means Turquoise wins the match,” The ref said as Turquoise’s picture with a winner icon appeared on the jumbotron.

“”Marshtomp you did really well, “Aqua said before approaching Turquoise to shake on a well thought battle. Suddenly Don frank grabbed both of their arms and raised them.

“Let’s hear it one more time for these two amazing trainers and their amazing battle,” Don Fronk said as the crowd went wild. Soon Turquoise was standing on a podium with her three pokemon in front of her while holding a silk bag containing all the evolution stones.

“And there is the evolution stone set, Turquoise. May we get a word or two about your amazing win, “Jim said while the camera was focused on Turquoise.

“Hello Mom and everyone else back home, I am doing quite well, and winning this Tournament has made both myself and my current team stronger, “Turquoise said enthusiastically.

“And with that, this tournament has now come to a close, “Jim said. It soon reached sunset and everyone gathered outside the stadium to bid each other farewell.

“I say we hit the road as well,” Turquoise said. Aqua and fluttershy were in agreement before taking off. Where will our heroes go next? Stay tuned, As the journey continues.
