The Traveling Horseman

''Ugh! My head...'' Thought Rainbow Dash as her head hurt. ''What happened?'' Asked herself and as an answer, she heard a deep voice grunting below her. ''Oh! I think I crashed into somepony.''

She lifted her still throbbing head and started to apologize. ''Ugh... Sorry. I guess I over did it...''

Her eyes were still closed and she heard the deep voice again and some kind of cracking sound. ''Uff! I think I broke something...'' Rainbow Dash felt that somepony shifting under her and he spoke up again. ''... nope. Just a branch...''

Raising a hoof to her head, she massaged the spot where she felt her forehead hurt. Not finding any visible scar there she opened her eyes. ''Sorry again. I didn't see you-...'' She couldn't finish her sentence.

Rainbow Dash found herself not on a stallion, but on a strange creature. The creature wore some dark clothing that Dash couldn't recognize. The only thing that she had a slight knowledge was the creatures hood, that blocked out the sun and making it's mysterious face darker.
A long, ragged scarf was around it's, that had some dirt on it. But the red color was still visible on it.
The creature was tossing away a broken branch and rainbow couldn't help, but notice some kind of gauntlet on it's claw. She only saw gauntlets, when she and her friends went to save Rarity from the diamond dogs. But that creature had a strange mark on it. It was like something is looking back at her, from that predator like mark. And she could swore that she saw two blue eyes flashing at her.

Taken aback from the blue flash, she looked down at the creature. The strange being shoved an expression, that told Rainbow Dash it was examining her. She stood up on top of him (it has a deep voice, so she assumed it's a 'him') and yelped as the creature grabbed her by shoulder and pushed her down from him.

''What the hay?!'' Rainbow Dash trembled for a second, but thanks to her wings she became airborne and looked a bit angry at the creature. ''What was that for?!'' She said angrily and saw the creature standing up.

It stood on it's two hind legs like a dragon, but it had strange claws. They weren't sharp as she remembered from 'The Great Dragon Migration'.
It wore boots. Rainbow never seen any other creature that wore boots. Expect ponies.
Now the creature stood tall. Tall enough to reach Rainbow Dash and she flew a bit higher. Rainbow Dash got a better view at him. He wore a black robe, that reached his knees. The robe from the front parted in a 'V' letter, revealing a shining part on the blue belt. She could see some pouches attached to that belt, but she wasn't sure. The robe covered those brown pouches, so she couldn't see them.

The creature dusted himself off and as he moved, Rainbow spotted something on his shoulders. It looked like an egg cut half and placed on his shoulder. Under those 'half eggs', something grey sticked out.

''Are those... fur?'' Rainbow Dash mused, but quickly shook her head to forgot that idea.
She moved her eyes under those 'eggs' and saw brown straps moving across it's chest in an 'X' shape.

''To answer your question... you kinda restrained me to breath. That's why I tossed you off of me.'' He spoke again in it's deep voice. That mysterious face was enough to give Rainbow dash the creeps, but with that strange body and oh so dark tone...

''Am I... scared?'' She thought. Than again, she shook her head to forgot that silly thought. ''Hehhe... good joke. Me? Rainbow Dash? Scared? Pff... I'm not scared from that freak. I can deal with it.'' Convincing herself to fight back, she finally spoke up. But then...

''By the way! Are you alright? You went pretty fast back there...'' Rainbow Dash was taken aback. The strange being shoved concern towards her. Even if it was her fault crashing into him...

''Y-yeah...'' She answered simply. Then she collected herself. ''Not to be rude, but-...''

''Who am I?'' The creature cut herself in.

''No. What ARE YOU?!'' Rainbow was a bit upset that somepony just interrupted her. And she finally asked the BIG question.

''I'm unknown spirit.'' He simply answered.

''Unknown spirit?'' Rainbow Dash looked at him skeptically.

''Yes.'' He answered simply... again.

Rainbow wasn't satisfied with the answer, but shrugged and decided to change the subject. ''Aaaand... what are you doing here?''

He brightened up a bit, as he finally got back to his business. ''I'm discovering this land. I was about to go to that little town there when I saw an explosion.'' He explained.

''Oh yeah. That was me trying out a new trick... but I think you know how it ended...'' She rubbed the back of her head sheepishly. ''And that town there is Ponyville...'' She pointed a hoof at the town.

The man turned to the town and took a few steps forward. Then he raised his left hand and it was covered in purple flames. Rainbow Dash looked at it in awe and as a small explosion could be seen in the flames, an eagle appeared with the same purple flames. The eagle's wings were burning in those flames and it's eyes were glowing in purple.

The eagle landed on the mans wrist, screeched at it's owner. ''Map! Show me the scroll!'' He said to the eagle and as the purple flames and gloving died out, a scroll appeared in front of the man. He grabbed it and looked at the map.
Curiosity got the better out of Rainbow Dash and she flew closer, behind the man. She saw him moving his finger trough point, where the map shoved a small town. Rainbow recognized the town and before she could say it's name, letter appeared above the town. The man pulled away his fingers and let all the letters to appear in a purple aura. Then when the letters all appeared and became visible, they changed to black, like it was written with ink.

''Wow...'' Rainbow exclaimed as she saw the word 'Ponyville' nicely wrote down on the paper.

''I get you never seen something like this before?'' Asked the man as he rolled up the paper and let his right arm fell next to him, still holding the scroll.

''No... my friend Twilight would love to see something like that.'' Explained Rainbow Dash and then she remembered something. But then again...

''What's your name by the way?'' He asked her.

''I was just about to ask the same question from him! He's getting more weirder...'' Thought Rainbow Dash, bit taken aback as he was faster than her. This did not helped Rainbow the stay cool...

''You must think I'm weird.'' He stated, totally sending Rainbow Dash to insanity.

''What the hay?! Can you read my mind or what?!'' She cried out failing her hooves in the air in defeat.

''No, I just know what all of you think. You, who meets me the first time. I just got used to that and know what will be the next overused question...'' He explained in a bored tone. He really sounded like he had enough of those always asked questions.

''Okay, I thought you can read my mind, because you would-...'' She shoved her hoof into her mouth, before she say something.

''I know what you wanted to say. And if we're here at this topic, than let me tell you something...'' He paused and looked seriously at her. ''... if you don't like others to see your mind, then you should never go to that one single dimension... brugh...'' He shivered slightly from those memories. ''I swear. Alternate universes are really weird.''

Rainbow was confused. She wanted to ask about what he said, but decided to better not question the crazy man. She learned that from Pinkie Pie...

I think you all know what it feels when you just stays quiet. But not because you don't want to disturb your partner, no. Because you CAN'T disturb him.

Rainbow Dash and the man walked in an awkward silence down the road. The man didn't said anything and just looked forward, focusing on the town. Rainbow Dash had enough looking at his back, so she flew next to him and looked at his face. She gasped as she saw his eyes glowing in a purple aura. One of his eyes shut tight and he was in deep thoughts.

''What are you doing?'' She asked him, confused about his strange behavior.

''I'm examining the town. I want to know if it's a safe place and get them know better from far away...'' He said and he became more focused on the town. Even a vain appeared on his temple.

''Why don't you ask me?'' She asked him, somewhat disgusted about the way he wanted to know the town better. It was like a colt admiring the mare's back side, so he can feel himself better. Freaks...

As her question rang trough his ears, he dismissed the purple aura and looked at her with wide eyes. ''Hm... that's a really good idea. Please continue!'' He said and summoned his scroll, turned it around and looked at the fully blank side of the scroll. No mountains, rivers or anything. just a blank page.

Rainbow hesitated a bit, but continued. ''So... the town is peaceful. I don't know why you think it's dangerous...''

''A skittles crashed into me a few minutes ago. What do you think I will expect from a town, full of multicolored ponies?'' He asked sarcastically.

''What is 'skittles'?'' She asked, shoving the most confused face, that she ever gave him since they met.

''Nevermind!'' He quickly said. ''Tell me about this WHOLE place!'' He said, motioning with his hand to their surroundings.

''You don't know what this land is called?'' She asked dumbfounded. He shook his head and kept looking at her. ''Equestria...'' She simply answered.

''This world? Or is this just a nation? Country?'' He asked. ''You know what? How big is that... 'Equestria'?'' He added.

''Well...'' Rainbow collected all her memories from school, then she remembered. ''Equestria is this WHOLE world...'' She motioned with her hoof, like he did. ''... but a lot of years ago, other species made new nations. Like, the griffons moved to the North, because they couldn't leave together with the ponies. Later, they became the Griffon Empire.''

The man moved his fingers trough the paper. Letters started to form, where his finger made contact. Then just like last time, the purple letters turned into black letters and formed notes. It said:
World name: Equestria
Species: Ponies, Griffons

''Can you tell me more species?'' He asked.

Rainbow agreed and told him more species. He 'wrote' them down on the paper and he added some information for each species. Where they live, how they look like. He would write more, if Rainbow Dash would be the egghead, not Twilight.

Thinking about the lavender mare... ''Hey! I can bring you to Twilight! She's my friend in the town. She can give you more info if you want.'' She informed him.

He stopped 'writing' down these notes. ''Then our new destination is the twilight...'' He said out loud.

''No! Not THE Twilight. She... Twilight. She's a unicorn. Not the sun's final minutes...'' She giggled at the thought, of Twilight Sparkle being the twilight...

''I know... I just wanted to lighten the mood. You already looking at me strangely...'' He told her and they continued to walk down the road.

Rainbow Dash looked at him confused, then she started grinning and finally... ''Bwaaahhhaaahh! Haahhhaahhaa!'' She broke down to laughter.

The man called to her back, as he kept walking. ''If you calmed down, try to catch up!''

He kept walking down the road. Looking down at his notes and back at the town. Then he flipped his scroll around and looked at his map. Nothing changed, except one thing. On the top of the map, there was a word.

''Equestria...'' He whispered. ''Maybe I found the perfect place to stay?'' He mused. ''Let's not think like this. I shouldn't judge this fast. I just have to find that female and find out some things about this place!''

The sound of wings flapping trough the air told the man who's coming. ''Calmed down?'' He glanced at her smiling.

''Hehhehe... you sure know what I was thinking. hehhe... that was good.'' She still giggled at the memory.

''I know your friends name already, but yours is still a mystery...'' he said, looking forward.

''I'm Rainbow Dash! Fastest flyer in all of Equestria!'' She said, puffing out her chest and doing an epic pose.

''Fastest flyer?'' He asked.

The next thing she knows, is the man's right hand started to burn in green flames. He quickened his pace, until it became a running. Then a horse emerged from the ground. It's mane glowing in green flames and left big, flaming hoofsteps. It neighed and the man jumped into the air, landing on his horse.

Rainbow Dash watched in awe, as the big pony carried his owner towards Ponyville... faster than she flew. ''Oh... it's... on...''
With those last words, she started flying faster, catching up with him.

She flew next to him and looked at the HUGE pony. ''Who is this pony?!'' She shouted trough the air.

''His name is Sprint and he's a horse!'' The man shouted the answer to her.

She was a bit confused, why is a horse let a strange being riding on him. A quick thought ran trough her. ''They both males... and one is riding the other one. That means...'' She shook her head... yes... again. Blushing and giggling a bit, she quickly forgot the dirty idea.

''What is YOUR name?!'' She asked him.

The spirit turned towards her...

''Traveler...''

Writing this chapter as our hero wrote on his scroll... writingception? I think that's what it's called...
Anyways! I realized how many of you favorited my story. So now, I have to satisfy more than four reader. It's really exiting.
Here is the second chapter, I wrote it just today... under... four hours?! Wow... I hope I made just a few grammar mistake.

And now i take my leave. Luna is out there, waiting to report my day to her... I just made a reference with my own story... LOL. that one is so silly! XD
