The Legend Of Spyro And Spike
20: The Tale Of The First Purple Dragon
Previous ChapterNext ChapterSpike and Spyro looked around where they were with a somber look, this placed looked so ancient and old, it may be as old as time itself. There were so many places Spike could see here that he's never seen before. But so much of this stuff looked lost to time, the sky had strange auroras coming from them, and the way inside just ahead of them, looked like it was only meant to be open by a purple dragon, just like how he and Spyro are.
"Wow.. this place.. this is so.. sad.. I don't think I've ever seen a place like this before in my life.. and I don't think I ever will again.." Spike said sadly as they were starting to make they're way through the opening caves which looked to be of different elements they've used before.
"I know.. if this is really the White Isle, I can see why it was hidden, everything here looks like they were made with magic, and whatever remains, was lost to time.." Spyro replied as they made they're way through the electric part of the entrance which they had to be careful inside.
"Tell me about it guys, who knew you would lead us to a place that feels so.. alien.." Sparx added which was a good way to compare things.
"This world is just so strange, not only because of how it's history is. But to know there are places like these out there, it makes me wonder how much more ancient this world is then my own home with Equestria.." Spike said with a sad look as this place looked so much more important then one may think.
"I know, to think this is the world where you came from, being made of dark magic thanks to Cynder... it makes me wonder what would've happened if you actually were hatched and raised by her when she was corrupted..." Spyro replied with a scared look as he thought over it.
"Nothing good, that much is for sure. I still can't believe that this world is where I really came from, and if Cynder hadn't sent me to Equestria when I was an egg, I would've never met Twilight or everyone else, if I was found and raised by Ignitus, or raised alongside you and Sparx back at the swamp, I don't know how different my life could've been..." Spike said sadly as he thought over the many ways things could've played out here.
"I know, there were so many ways things could've ended up, and the fact that we're even here now is a miracle. All the stuff we've gone through together, you finding out about Cynder being your mother.. the destiny we were meant to go through, and the threats that we were meant to face.. all leading up to at least being able to stop.. him.." Spyro said with fear as they thought of the Dark Master himself.
"I don't know how we can be able to stop him, he seems so much stronger, more scary and intimidating from what we know about him, what he did to Cynder, this world.. my home... it all just makes me wonder what caused him to become the monster he is now.." Spike said as he clutched his claws.
"Something tells me we're about to find out here, we're in for a tough trail Spike, let's be sure to put all we've learned to the test, sound good?" Spyro asked which Spike agreed too.
"Let's find out where this Chronicler is." Spike replied before he and Spyro quickly rushed off to the ancient temple and ruins ahead of them with Sparx following behind.
The two of them soon made they're way through a very old looking path that seems to have crumbled over time, but parts of it are still floating around in the air due to the powerful magic around it, this magic was stronger then anything Spike's felt before, and he feels like it's something that was meant to protect this place as time's passed. Spike and Spyro soon made they're way through that elemental cave from before, and soon enough, they saw the same statues they've fought in they're dreams before, and they came to life like they expected and looked ready to fight.
"What the heck are those things?!" Sparx asked with fear while Spike raised his hand and used his Shadow powers to summon his Scythe again.
"Training dummies." Spike said with a smirk while Spyro prepared his new lightning powers.
"Nothing we can't handle." Spyro said confidently before he and Spike charged at the dummies and were ready to fight.
One of the statues charged at Spike and tried slashing at him with it's sword, but Spike blocked the attack with his scythe and twirled the thing 180 degrees before he sliced the thing in half complete, Spyro used his new lightning powers to shoot powerful orbs that came from him, and it caused a ton of explosions to fly over the place which sent a ton of the statues flying back. Spike soon changed into his Poison powers again, and he used his large hammer to smash down multiple statues into the ground, it also had an affect that weakened them from being hit, which left them more open for attacks.
Spyro soon helped Spike take down the last group by using his Earth powers, and he formed the large ball and chain again and swung it around the remaining statues, and Spike destroyed the last one by smashing his hammer into the ground and destroying it for good.
"Man, we've really gotten a hang of powers since they've fully come back.." Spyro said with surprise as they looked over the remains of they're enemy's.
"Yeah.. and not to mention how well I've developed my mother's powers too.. she'd be proud if she were here..." Spike said with sadness as he put his weapon away for now.
"Hey, don't worry, we'll find a way to save her, come on, I.. think I hear someone calling us.." Spyro advised as there seemed to be new floating platforms that lowered down for them to proceed.
"So weird..." Spike said with a worried look as they kept on moving through the place.
As they kept on moving through this place, Spike reflected on the journey he's had that led him up to this point, he never thought he'd know who his parents were, but to know Cynder was his real mother all along is still a lot he needs to process. Knowing he wasn't born naturally, but was created with Cynder's dark magic and her own blood, it makes Spike just afraid of what could've happened if the Dark Master found out about him, and destroyed Spike before he even hatched, leaving Cynder to cry with regret for his loss.
Spike felt like this Dark Master was watching over him somehow, he could.. feel his presence somehow, looming over them through the shadows, and Spike just felt chills as he and Spyro kept on moving through this ancient place. It may be because Spike has a blood connection with Cynder, and since Malefor practically used her as his own pawn, it would make sense if he somehow was finding a way to connect to Spike, and Spike could not get what he heard out of his head in that dream.
"Spike.. you... are more... then you seem...." A dark and malicious voice spoke again which made Spike gasp in shock from what he just heard.
Spike was taking heavy breaths and held his claw to his chest which got Spyro and Sparx's attention.
"Spike you okay buddy?" Sparx asked with worry while Spike tried processing that, that voice was the same one he heard in the dream, only it felt more.. focused.. like it was trying to talk with him in someway...
"I.. I.. don't know... I just.. felt something suddenly.. I don't know what it was.." Spike said with a worried look as he felt his dark powers growing.. stronger somehow..
"Do you think it's because of how close the Eternal Night is? It looks to be a day away by now, maybe it's causing you some strange reactions with your dark powers or something?" Spyro suggested which Spike didn't know how to answer.
"I.. I just don't know guys, let's just keep going.. we have to find the Chronicler..." Spike said with worry as he quickly made his way ahead of them which was worrying for the two.
"You think he'll be alright?" Sparx asked Spyro who was really worried for his friend.
"I don't know, he's felt really upset about all this since he became a dark dragon like Cynder, he barely looks like how we knew him before, and I think it's because of the traits Cynder had, but it also could be because of the Dark Master himself.." Spyro said with worry as they kept on moving and moved some statues into place to open the next area.
"I mean, it'd make sense since with how he's felt since he came here, being taken from your home like that and learning this is where he really came from is tough, can't imagine what he's going through right now." Sparx said as he shook his head as Spike flew up to another platform.
"Whatever happens, let's just be sure to try and help Spike through this." Spyro suggested which Sparx agreed too, they both soon flew up to where Spike was and they started making they're way to an ancient temple that was just ahead of them.
Spike felt so strange as he was here, he felt like something was trying to awaken with him, he hasn't used his other elemental powers since they used Aether to save Cynder, and he's only had his mom's powers since, but it felt like this place was trying to.. awaken them somehow...
"Look at that...." Spike said with awe as he and Spyro saw the entrance to a massive temple in front of them, it looked like it was already opened for them, and there was some strange orbs on some pedestals to open it up, and it made Spike a bit suspicious of how they're placed.
"Hold on guys, it's never this easy to just waltz in a highly guarded place like this." Spyro warned while they were keeping they're guard up for this.
"I don't know about you guys, but it'd be a relief not to have to go through a large puzzle or something again and just move on, we've done enough of that stuff as it is." Sparx replied which they could agree with.
"Hopefully this is just luck for now which can save us some time." Spike prayed as they were making they're way into the temple to find the Chronicler.
"Let's hope so." Spyro prayed as well as they kept on moving through the temple.
Spike and Spyro soon made they're way through the temple and looked around it's design, it felt so similar to the temple back home in ways, the walls and designed looked similar in many ways, and there were similar dragon statues like the one they saw in the dojo, and as Spike looked at them, they felt so familiar to him somehow, and he had a dreadful feeling of who this was representing.
"So.. Spyro.. do you.. ever wonder if the Dark Master was.. always like this before? Spike suddenly asked which surprised him a bit.
"Why would you think that Spike? We've known what he's done by now, I honestly don't see anything else he could've been before the Dark Master..." Spyro replied which made Spike think over it.
"I know but.. what if he was similar to us in ways? What if he wasn't always evil? But was driven down that path due to a dark power he discovered, the one he's used on Cynder, his armies, and the power that's been feared by many for so long? What if.. he was a normal dragon like us at one point?" Spike theorized which was interesting to think about.
"I.. honestly don't know Spike, what we know about the Dark Master is that he was so power hungry and bent on destruction, he tried to destroy me as an egg to prevent the prophecy's from happening, and as he stole Cynder's egg.. it was what led to you being born with Cynder wanting her own child. We may not know much, but I do know that he's had one of the worst history's known to dragon kind." Spyro replied which made Spike just worried about how they're gonna handle this.
"Maybe we'll find more answers about him here, come on.. I.. think I see a door just up ahead." Spike encouraged as there was a large door just ahead, the group soon entered the room, and to their surprise, they found a room that looked so similar to the one back at the temple where the vision pool was, there was glowing symbols on the wall of each respective element Spyro used, and there seemed to be strange doorways to some trials that they had to go through to proceed.
"This.. looks just like at the temple.. was the temple's design inspired by this place somehow?" Spike asked with surprise as Spyro looked at the doorways with an interested look.
"It could be.. I think we have to go through these doors to prove ourselves, It makes sense with how heavily guarded this place is.." Spyro suggested as they turned to the Fire pathway first, and could see a glowing tunnel just ahead for them to walk through.
"Well, whatever's the case, we do this together right?" Spike asked as they started to walk through it.
"Absolutely." Spyro replied before they finally entered the place and were teleported to another large room in the Celestial Caves, it looked like an arena of sorts, like they were meant to battle something that would test they're strength.
But as Spike and Spyro were trying to get their bearings, Spike suddenly felt something awaken in him so fast, he felt his body heat up after he went through that portal, as if it was trying to reawaken the powers he had dormant in him now.
"Spike? Are you alright?" Spyro asked while Spike raised his claws and tried focusing his mind.
"I.. think so..." Spike replied before he finally focused hard enough, and to both their surprise, Spike was able to freely form fire in his hands again, meaning his Fire Element was finally awakened in him again.
"Spike, you can use fire again! How is that possible?!" Sparx asked with surprise while Spike was moving it around, trying to get a good grasp of using them again.
"I.. think it's this temple, It may be trying to awaken my powers so we can save my mother, and if things look to be the case, If we go through those other portals representing Ice, Lightning, and Earth.. I think they would awaken my powers again fully.." Spike theorized as he tried forming a sword in his hands like he did before.
"That's.. amazing Spike, but how are we gonna be able to get out of here?" Spyro asked while they looked around the place, but they're talk was soon interrupted as they saw a a large monster form into the room, it looked to be of a monster of fire, a spirit that was meant to guard the temple, and a trial for the two dragons to overcome.
"I think we have our answer..." Spike said with a serious look as he focused his Fire elements, and soon enough, he finally formed it into a sword again after a while of not being able to use it.
Spike and Spyro made a battle cry towards the monster and they charged at it and were ready to fight. Spike swung his fire sword around and tried blocking each strike the Fire Spirit threw at him, Spyro came at the monster from behind and used his Fire breath to harm it, Spike soon parried the monster's weapon away and soon delivered a strong slash to the monster's chest which knocked the thing back.
Spyro soon changed into his ice powers again, and he tried shooting a snowball at it to weaken it, but the element had no affect on it at all which meant that they're elements couldn't work on it other then Fire, and would be the same with the other spirits they may have have to face.
"It looks like it's only weak to it's respective element, let's keep that in mind!" Spyro shouted while he switched back to Fire and used his Comet Dash move to smash against the monsters head.
Spike soon ran under the monster's legs and slashed at each of them to do more damage, Spike soon kneed the monster in the leg to knock it down a bit, and Spyro used that moment to run up it's leg before he tail slashed him in the face. Spike followed that up by charging up his fire powers, and he shot a ton of fire balls from his mouth to take it down.
The monster roared at the two dragons who stood ready to fight, and they could feel they're powers surging up in them once again.
"Let's finish this.." Spike said seriously as he and Spyro began floating in the air, they felt they're Fire elements swell up in them, and as the monster charged at them one last time to finish them off, Spike and Spyro roared with fury and unleashed they're Fire Fury move once again, the combined blast was so powerful, it was able to finally finish the monster off for good, Spike finally felt his fire return to him again, it was like this place was to test his strength and have him unlock his powers again, and use them alongside Cynder's, and it felt so great to have them back.
"At least I can use my fire again.." Spike said with relief as they saw a floating platform lower down to them to help them move onto the next area they had to go through.
"Hey, don't think it's over yet, we still have to go through the other monsters too, if things are like we think, we can finally unlock each of your powers again like mine." Spyro suggested while they hopped onto it to get going.
"Then let's get ready to face each of them." Spike said seriously as they floated up back to the main room where they were before, and they saw the other 3 elemental doors were still open for them to go through.
To put things simply, Spike and Spyro had to go through each of those rooms together, and fight a different Spirit based on they're respective element, and during those trails, Spike was finally able to use the powers of Ice, Earth, and Lightning again after they became dormant for a while, it made Spike far stronger now because he can control up to 8 elements, making him even stronger then Spyro in some areas.
As Spike went through this place, he felt like this place was helping him build up his strength to save his mom, he cared about Cynder very much like any son would. While they haven't had much time together here, when this is all over, Spike's gonna try making up the lost time he's had with her to make her get over what's happened with Malefor.
Soon enough, after many trials that finally awakened Spike's other elements again, they soon arrived back in the main room where the vision pool was now glowing brightly, clearly meaning they should go forward through it.
"Hold on guys, I think we found it." Spyro suggested which Sparx thought was obvious.
"Hello? Is anyone there?" Spyro asked which made Sparx try to shush him.
"Hey, can we not make any noise? Cause everything on this island has tried to kill us." Sparx warned which Spike agreed to just before they heard a strange voice speak to them.
"Expose your heart to summon ghost... then face alone what you fear most..." The voice instructed which confused the three of them a lot.
"What the heck does that mean?" Spike asked with worry as they looked at the portal in front of them.
"Let's find out Spike.." Spyro said calmly before he and Spike hopped onto the glowing platform, and in a flash of light, they all vanished somewhere else.
Spike and Spyro's vision soon came into focus, and they soon found themselves in a really strange void that was full of dark clouds and lightning, they were on a floating platform in the air, and they soon saw a elemental creature take the form of Cynder to strike fear into them, but Spike and Spyro weren't afraid of this, they've beaten her before, they can beat her again.
"Your not my mother you freak.." Spike growled while he summoned his Fire sword again as it's element was fire currently.
"This is our last obstacle Spike, let's deal with this now!" Spyro declared as they finally charged into battle to take down this creature.
This elemental dragon that looked like Cynder was able to change into various elements to try and attack them, but it was also it's weakness that left it open, it was like the Spirits they had to face before, the monster's body soon changed to Ice and Spike soon summoned his Ice spear to deliver tough slashes at it to weaken it. Spike felt so much stronger now that he had his other powers back, and if this was a test to prove they're worth, it was one that they knew was important for them both.
"Spike, duck!" Spyro warned as they saw the monster slash it's tail at Spike, and he quickly ducked out of the way just as it's element changed to Lightning now.
Spike and Spyro changed they're element to lightning too and Spike formed it in his hands to make his lightning gloves again, Spike began to rapidly punch the thing near the neck while Spyro shot lighting directly at it's face, this was able to weaken it some more and it again changed to Earth to defend itself, but they quickly changed to they're Earth powers too, and Spike formed his ball and chain again to deliver hard and heavy hits to it.
Spike made a battle cry again as he spun his ball and chain around the arena while the Elemental Dragon shot multiple blasts at him, but Spike quickly rolled out of the way before jumping into the air and raised his weapon high.
"Now!" Spike screamed as he smashed the thing on the monsters head which weakened it greatly, Spyro soon ran in next to him and as Spike landed down, Spyro gave Spike a boost in the air which gave Spyro a higher view, and Spyro shot more Earth Blasts at the thing to knock it near the ledge.
"Your done monster! We aren't afraid of you!" Spyro shouted as he and Spyro charged up all they're powers, and they shot all of them directly at the monster which finally sent it off flying into the dark void, and all they could hear is the roar of Cynder as the monster she once was before.
"My mother isn't a monster anymore." Spike declared as they calmed down to take a break, and they could feel that another door opened up in the room that they've been to many times before, and it felt like the room they've been trying to get to for so long.
Spike and Spyro soon were warped back into the main room after finishing off that Elemental Dragon, and they saw a new door had opened up ahead of them which finally lead to the end of this.
"You think he's in there?" Spyro asked as they were making they're way to the room.
"Only one way to find out." Spike replied as they prepared themselves for what they're about to learn here.
The three of them finally walked into the large room and found what looked like a large hourglass directly in the center, which was showing that time was almost out for something.. and they had an idea on what it was.
"What's this?" Sparx asked curiously as the two dragons looked around the place.
"I think this is a library.." Spike suggested as they saw a ton of books all around the place.
"It's incredible, it's like the entire history of the dragon race, all here in once place!" Spyro said with amazement with what they're seeing.
"It is, well... most of it." A familiar voice spoke which got they're attention.
"Is that who I think it is?" Spike asked with awe as they saw a very ancient dragon finally walking up to them, and from the looks of it, it may be the Chronicler. he had black scales with gray wings with a really long beard, and large sharp horns to defend himself.
"The records here go back to the beginning of time.. nearly." Chronicler explained while they were surprised he was actually real.
"Chronicler!" Spike and Spyro said at once with amazement.
"Yes Spyro, Spike, it is I.. and I have been waiting for you both, for a long long time." Chronicler greeted with a calm look.
"Well sorry to keep you waiting there, but we got a little held up back there, with the Riddles of Doom?!" Sparx pointed out with an annoyed look.
"It was a necessary evil, I had to be sure you two. I haven't had any visitors, in my solitude, for over a thousand years." Chronicler explained while he was walking next to them.
"Shocker, try getting rid of the psychedelic dragon next time!" Sparx pointed out again which Chronicler only sighed at.
"You've been here for that long?" Spyro asked with surprise while Spike looked at the place with awe.
"This place feels even older then Equestria itself.. like it was made far before it became it's own Kingdom.." Spike said with surprise with how ancient this place looks.
"This world has existed for far longer then even Equestria has young Spike, I must say, you were a surprise to catch my attention, but with your connection with Cynder, I saw something special in you, just like Spyro. I watch, wait, and listen for things to come, and then I add them to the books of Time." Chronicler explained which confused them a bit.
"You were also written in the books a bit Spyro, though there are many pages left for you and Spike to fill." Chronicler added which really interested the two of them.
"Really? Can we see it?" Spyro asked hopefully which he was glad to comply with.
"Of course, they are your lives after all, look, this one is yours." Chronicler advised while he had a new book float up to them for Spike to see.
They soon looked into the pages of the book, and saw a page of the familiar ape king they've seen before.
"You've both seen this hideous creature before." Chronicler said as they knew very well who he was.
"Why is he in our book?" Spyro asked with a confused look which he tried explaining.
"It was Gaul who lead the raid on the temple on the night of your birth, when Ignitus rescued your egg." Chronicler explained as they could see everything about they're lives.
"And took Cynder when she was one..." Spike said with regret for the thought of his mom again.
"Yes.. that was.. very unfortunate for your mother..." Chronicler said regretfully as the page turned to the next one to show Spike's life.
Spike was able to see what looked like his whole life in the pages of these books, from the time he was hatched by Twilight, with all the adventures they went through, and the things Spike often went through. He even could see the time he was formed by Cynder herself, she was around a special symbol of sorts, and seemed to be pouring her dark powers, and her magic into the symbol to form a familiar purple egg..
"This.. this is my history?" Spike asked with sorrow as he saw Spike's egg being formed into Cynder's claws.
"Yes Spike, you were off a unique creation, entirely of her own powers and blood, when you were sent to Equestria, it was not only Twilight's magic which made you look more like Spyro, but it was due to Cynder trying to suppress you from being tracked, and found by the Dark Master's forces. But it didn't work for long.." Chronicler explained as they saw the day Ponyville was attacked, and Spike was kidnapped from his friends, and taken from his homes.
"They took me from my home, but they brought me here.. which turned out to be the world I came from. I don't know how to process this, I don't know whether or not I should choose this world as my home, or the one I grew up in with Twilight. Even if they got to do far more then I ever did.. it was still my home.." Spike said regretfully as they saw Spike's painful process of becoming a dark dragon like Cynder.
"I understand your struggles young Spike. But even if you were in Equestria, I was able to watch over you with your connection to Spyro and Cynder, they both are more important to your life then you may think. While Cynder is your mother, you being brought here is what led to you meeting Spyro, and it led to her being saved, and you both discovering your purpose." Chronicler explained as they saw parts of the book wasn't finished yet.
"Hold on.. can this book tell the future?" Spyro asked with a curious look.
"In parts, though just glimpses of the future really." Chronicler answered which made them worried for Cynder.
"Then tell us what's gonna happen to Cynder, please, she's my mom, I can't go on without knowing if she'll be alright or not.." Spike begged which the Chronicler reluctantly agreed with.
"Very well.. but hers is a far darker tale, like the way she created Spike, it wasn't natural with what she did, to some, Spike should've never even been born.." Chronicler said regretfully as he used his powers to bring a book that told Cynder's life.
"What.. do you mean by that?" Spike asked with a worried look while they were being shown her life.
"Spyro, Spike, you must understand that when she was taken by Gaul, she was poisoned and corrupted, made to do the Dark Masters bidding. Her entire life was spent in shadow, she knows no other way. You were a creation at her own hand when she had what little free will she had before you saved her. Spike.. you weren't even meant to be born, the only reason your here now is because Cynder wanted something to show her the light. But.. when the Dark Master returns, she will be forced to concede, and no one can resist the temptation, not even the strongest among us.. even you.. her own child.. could only delay her fate.." Chronicler said with guilt while they saw a horrific vision of Cynder being forcefully corrupted by Gaul again, and turned into a slave again to serve the Dark Master.
Spike was in tears after learning this, to know he was never even meant to exist naturally like Spyro and Cynder were, it hit him in so many ways that he's never felt before. And to know that if they don't do something, she'll be forced into being a monster again to serve the Dark Master again..
"It can't be.. I.. wasn't meant be born at all? W.. why?" Spike asked with sorrow as he looked at his body now knowing the truth.
"No, I don't believe that! Spike was born like all of us, if he's here, then fate had his plans for him in some way or another, and if he was meant to fight alongside me, there had to have been something for him." Spyro argued while trying to deny that truth.
"Spyro.. Spike, let me tell you another story.." Chronicler said with guilt as he went to bring another book to explain to them about someone they've heard of very often.
"There was once a dragon, long ago. Who's raw power was far greater then anyone could've ever seen, or could imagine." Chronicler narrated as they saw a familiar looking dragon surrounded by elders in an ancient looking temple.
"At first he mastered Fire, which was odd, because he was not a Fire dragon, then came Ice, and Wind, and other ability's none thought possible." Chronicler continued as they see this dragon using the same elements Spike can use to cause destruction and harm.
"Is this story sounding familiar?" Chronicler asked as they realized who this was about.
"It was another purple dragon, like me and Spike." Spyro suggested which was correct.
"It was the first Purple Dragon. In the beginning he was encouraged and secrets of the elements were willingly passed onto him by the Elders. But his power.. was limitless, it knew no boundary, and it consumed.. everything.." Chronicler explained as they saw the moment the first Purple Dragon became corrupt with power and became the Dark Master he was known to be as.
"When he would not stopped he was cast out, and from his new fortress within the mountain, he built an army.. not of dragons, but of apes. And he taught them to artificially harness the power of the gems. Our life force." Chronicler continued as they realized who this was finally.
"This is the story of the Dark Master..." Spike said with fear as he saw the horrific tale of how he rose to power and became so horribly evil.
"Yes, and in his dark seclusion, the weight of sheer weight of his malice cracked the very foundation of the mountain! Splitting the Earth, and creating a pit of despair, where the lost souls of this world could reside." Chronicler continued as they saw Malefor forge the mountain into what it's known as now.
"The Well of Souls!" Spyro answered which was true once again.
"Created by the very beast who now seeks to escape it.." Chronicler finished as they finally knew of the Dark Master's story, Malefor.
"B.. but you said that the eclipse would only allow the spirits to escape for a short while!" Spyro reminded as they were told that when they first heard him in they're dreams.
"Yes, but if there ever was a spirit powerful enough.." Chronicler answered which horrified them of what this could mean.
"It could release Malefor and he'd bring destruction to this world.. and my own..." Spike said with fear as he remembered his malicious voice speaking to him.
"How do we stop it?" Spyro asked with a serious look and hoped he had an answer.
"It can't be stopped, it has been written.." Chronicler said regretfully while he stretched out his wings a bit.
"Then why did you call the three of us here? I don't understand." Spyro asked with an upset look.
"To ride out this storm.. where you'll both be safe, and you'll both live to fight another day." Chronicler explained which wasn't good enough for them.
"Well, that sounds good." Sparx joked which they didn't find funny at all.
"What about the others? What about they're safety?" Spyro asked with worry for Ignitus and everyone else.
"I... fear for the worst for them.." Chronicler said with worry which made Spike realize what they needed to do in order to stop all of this.
"No, I can't stay. We both can't, my mother is in danger, and so is my home. If we stay here, my home will be the next to be destroyed, and if my visions are right, they may capture another dragon and make her a slave like Cynder! I can't let that happen!" Spike countered with a determined look.
"Spike's right, we can't let that happen! You talk about choosing a path, but what about Cynder? She was never given a choice. We have to try, we're going, and you can't stop us." Spyro declared as they were ready to leave to save her.
"Then.. I won't. Young dragons, I've waited far too long to watch you leave here stricken with grief and doubt. You'll need pure minds and pure hearts, if you are to withstand the evil in that place, Spike's powers are tied to Cynder's, which could be stronger there, but at the risk of harming him if he's not careful. Remember, Cynder's powers ties into the Dark Master's, which then ties into Spikes, which would put him at risk if he goes there with his connection." Chronicler advised while Spike looked at himself and clutched his fists.
"I know this is not the path you would chose for us, but we need to walk our own paths, and do what we know is right." Spyro explained while Spike walked up next to Spyro.
"I don't care what happens to me, as long as I can save my mother and keep my home safe, I have to try and stop this." Spike answered while he prepared himself for the worst.
"So be it, Spyro and Spike. But you both must hurry, the dark hour of the eclipse is near, and haste will be your only ally." Chronicler warned which made Sparx a bit afraid.
"Okay uh.. just to know how I died, we wandered into a land of darkness to face an army of evil creatures that are trying to kill us, so we can rescue another creature that's already tried to kill us?!" Sparx asked with frustration that finally made Spike have enough of this.
"Sparx! It does not matter what she's done to us before! She is my F@#$$%& mother! And If you can't get over what she's done! Then stay here for all I care!" Spike swore which surprised the two of them.
"Language young one! where did you even learn that foul word?" Chronicler asked with a disgusted look with what he just said.
"it doesn't matter. I'm going to save her, you with me with this Spyro?" Spike asked his friend who was ready to go.
"Of course, come on Sparx, let's go save Cynder." Spyro advised while he was starting to leave.
"Don't worry guys, I'm in with this! Come on, let's go!" Sparx said eagerly while the Chronicler turned to the hourglass in the room.
"Then hurry young ones, go forth!" Chronicler encouraged as he created a portal to take them to where Cynder is, and Spike and Spyro both ran to the portal and were ready to save her, despite all Spike's learned here, it won't stop him from trying to save her, no matter what..
