EG X G5 – I Can Be Your Champion
It was down to the final minute of the last main match of the high school leagues, Maretime High was on an epic charge and became the fan favorite in the final match tied on points with their rivals from Bridlewood High.
“And here we are folks, both teams on final points, Maretime High Pegistars against the Bridlewood High Pinecones, and it’s down to the final extra minute, team captain Zipp Storm is setting up her kick, with only a few feet from goal, will the Pegistars go home in joy or a minute whimper?”
The commentators and the crowd bustling as the final seconds count down. On the field, Zipp places the ball to the field and takes a few breaths, the Left Wing soon made her steps and fools the Pinecone players by passing it to her striker teammate, Hitch Trailblazer. But when the Pinecones try to cover the goal, Hitch passes the ball back to Zipp and she boots the ball to goal, narrowly missing the goalkeeper’s hands and slams the goal in.
“And it’s in! Zipp Storm makes her move! Absolute fabulous goal! We have our winners! Maretime High are the new regional champions! Everyone thought they were out, but Maretime High has proven that they’re here to stay and to win! What a performance!!!”
The Maretime High Pegistars soon crowd around Zipp and raise her to the air, cheering their well-deserved victory, Zipp and Hitch even have a moment as they cheered, but not before blushing like tomatoes, it was clear from everyone except them, that there was a clear connection between the two, however due to Zipp’s tomboyish mentality and Hitch’s devotion to rules and behavior, they clearly had no clue.
However, Maretime High wasn’t the only school football team on the rise.
Meanwhile, it was a close battle between two iconic school rivals, Crystal Prep Shadowbolts and Canterlot High Wondercolts. At the local football field next to Canterlot High; the two teams were in a penalty shootout after a long deadlock match, after many misses as their goalkeepers were at absolute top form, it was decided that the final kick will decide the game, however on the field was the ever so iconic Rainbow Dash, Canterlot High’s most revered and top athlete; on the field. Rainbow Dash prepares for her kick, though her teammates, Sunset Shimmer and Twilight Sparkle kept calling out to Rainbow Dash to do certain kicks, but Rainbow Dash kept her cool and went for the kick.
“And Rainbow Dash goes for the kick!”
But as Rainbow Dash charged forward, Twilight shouted at Rainbow which made her lose footing and over kicked the ball and it flew into the crowd.
“And it won't be a goal for the Wondercolts, for the second time in the history between these two teams, it will be a draw! That may not be the result people had in mind, but the marshals have made their choice, it will be tied champions for the Wondercolts and Shadowbolts”
Despite the annoyance from Rainbow Dash and the crowd, the teams agree to the tie, albeit begrudgingly. The two teams soon join on the podium to celebrate, with the captains Indigo Zap and Rainbow Dash holding the trophy.
However, some men in suits, were watching the match, call their respective colleagues at the Maretime High game.
“You think, they have what it takes?” one of them asked on the phone.
“They’ll be perfect, they’re just what the elites would enjoy competing against, especially if it's for a great cause”
EG X G5 – I Can Be Your Champion
It had been a week since the final matches, however on the weekend; all principals and vice principals are called to the State’s Football Association Centre in the city. On the drive there, all the principals wondered why a football organization would want to see them, but soon they arrived, and a group of suited members were waiting for them and escorted them to the centre’s conference room.
As the principals and vice principals took their seats, the head of the SFA and his second arrived.
“Ah, welcome, sorry for the lack of information, but we thought it be better to explain this all-in person” the head stated.
Principal Celestia was the first to speak up, “I'm sure there was a good reason, so may we ask ‘why your organization wanted to see us’?
The second soon took over, “Yes, as you know; your school’s football teams have been performing exceptionally well in your respective regional leagues, you all gained our attention” the second explained.
“Your attention for what exactly?” Principal Cadence asked.
“Simple, the SFA would like to invite your three teams to participate in a charity league, to raise funds for disabled students in the state, with football becoming incredibly popular in the state following the world class teams performances garnering more and more attention, we believe the participating teams will be inspirational and we even have a few world class players who showed huge support to this charity league, such a Porto Ronaldo FC and AFC Messi Lions” the second explained the entire plan to the principals, whom had their expressions in full surprise, two massive world class teams showed massive enthusiasm and interest in a Charity League.
Principal Argyle soon showed big interest and spoke up first, “If this is for a great cause, then I'm certain my players would love to participate” he states with a smile, the other principals all nodded.
“Crystal Prep is always looking for reasons to compete, and I see that the matches will be broadcasted only on our school-based networks” Princpal Cadence chimed in.
“Absolutely, we also have a state broadcasting network who will be providing services, this is mainly for our disabled students who don't have access to the school networks as a few of them are in hospital in intensive care and a few families would like to see how the participating teams perform, we will send you all forms and permission slips and contracts to ensure we don’t violate any laws” the head states with honesty and seriousness.
“That would be for the best” Vice Principal Luna states, “So how many teams are joining?” she asked.
“For this league, we’ll only have six teams, this is to ensure we don’t overwork the youngsters and we all understand they have lives outside of football” the second continued to explain.
The principals soon heard enough and asked where to sign the contracts, the SFA passed the principals the required paperwork and they all began signing the contracts with enthusiasm.
“Excellent, now; you may inform your teams about the league, and we’ll get in touch with the other three teams” the head states.
Soon the principals shaked hands and began to depart, however as they all left, the second soon turned to the head. “Are you sure it’s wise, we didn’t tell them about the elites?” the second asked.
“Yes, they may be elite teams, however these teams showed as much promise as them, trust me, I’m certain the disability support organization I've been talking to, will agree, this is all for a good cause” the head replies before getting up from his chair and headed to his office.
(At Maretime High)
The following Monday, Principal Argyle brings his football team to the assembly room and joining them was Maretime Bay’s mayor's staff; Alphabrittle; head of local sports association and ‘Queen’ Haven Featherstar; the town treasurer and head of the culture association.
“Welcome everyone, I’m sure you’re all still feeling the joy of winning the league last week” Principal Argyle states and his players all cheered.
“Damn right we are! I could do it all again!” Zipp states with a smile.
“Zephyrina! Language!” Haven shouted, which made Zipp groan as she hated hearing her full name.
“Aside from that, we’ve been given a great opportunity!” Principal Argyle states, the players all looked at each other with intrigue. “In a few weeks, our school and two others have been chosen by the State Football Association to compete in a charity league to raise money for disabled students in the whole state” he explained in detail.
The players looked at each other will smiles and excitement, they all showed huge interest and wanted more details.
“We’ve yet to know all our rivals, but I have been told, Canterlot High and Crystal Prep Academy will be joining the league, but the SFA is hosting a pre-league party at their centre a week before the first match, so you’ll be able to meet and greet your rivals” Principal Argyle explained again.
The players couldn't hold their excitement; they were bustling to compete.
(Later, at the Beachhouse – Starscout Residence)
“Can you believe it? We’re competing in a new league!” Sunny stated with a smile.
“Yeah! Your dad really got all of us hooked!” Izzy replies which made Sunny blush a little.
“I think, what we should be asking is; where is Hitch?” Pipp asked with a smirk aimed directly to her sister which made Zipp blush and ignore the question.
“I heard he was busy at the animal shelter, he’s been there a lot ever since he found that lost puppy” Misty explained, “I’m sure he’s also excited for the upcoming league” she adds.
“You know, he’s trying to convince his grandma to adopt the puppy, he even already named him ‘Sparky” and he’s such a cute little puppy” Sunny explained and showed the girls a photo of Hitch with the adorable puppy, the girls all ‘awed’ at Hitch’s loving nature.
“Well, I can definitely say, we are the champions, so let's show everyone why we deserved to be called the champions” Zipp gets up with a fist in determination, the girls all cheered and soon they are called by Argyle that the pizza delivery arrived for them.

(Maretime High – Hallway)
It had finally came, the week before the first ever match of the new charity league. The players of the Maretime High Pegistars were bustling as they had to dress well for the party in smart casual. In the hallway, the Main 6 as they were often called, were enjoying their free period before they had to board the bus to the SFA Centre for the Preseason Party.
Putting her books away after a good history class, Sunny was called by her friends who were around Hitch as he was showing off pictures and videos of him and Sparky. “So, how did the conversation go Hitch?” Sunny asked.
“Well.... I was going surprise you all, but I convinced Grandma Figgy, I get to bring Sparky home next week!” Hitch squeaked in joy as he looked forward to bringing his new best buddy home.
“Ah! I gotta post this for the gram!” Pipp chimed as she aimed her phone to Hitch, who just smiled and without noticing, Zipp joined the photo, though Pipp saw her sister join in, causing her to giggle.
“Well come on guys! I really want this free period to end!” Zipp stated, but then she heard her mother calling for her, with a very elegant dress which made her bolt, with Izzy and Pipp going after her.
“Some things never change” Misty laughed, however Sunny seemed to be focused on Hitch.
“You mind meeting up with the others? Need to speak to Hitch in private” Sunny stated with a sad smile; however, Misty was already understanding and knew what she was going to say to Hitch and headed off to join the others.
As Hitch put his school bag away and grabbed his clothes bag to get ready for tonight, Sunny tugged his arm.
“Is everything okay?” Sunny asked, being childhood friends with Hitch since enrolling in elementary school, Sunny always knew when Hitch had something big on his mind.
“Y-yeah, I’m fine” Hitch quickly responded, though it was clear he was hiding something.
“Come on Hitch, we’ve been best friends for years, I know when something is up, you can talk to me” Sunny said sincerely.
Hitch sighed and closed his locker, “Okay, I may have something in mind, you're obviously, too good reading me" Hitch replied and tried to smile.
“As always Hitch” Sunny giggled.
“It's about Zipp” Hitch admitted and lowering his head.
“Why? You two are always getting along well, I even remembered the Fall Dance; you two were in-separatable that night” Sunny stated.
“Yeah, but a lot of people kept wondering if me and Zipp were an item, I tried to ignore it, but i started to believe them and when we won the final match and becoming champions, we hugged afterwards, I just…. felt something” Hitch explained and felt very vulnerable.
Sunny was immediately sympathetic, she never liked seeing her friends feeling down or hurt, “Oh Hitch, why don’t you tell Zipp how you feel?” she asked with worry.
“I can’t do it Sunny, and with the charity league starting soon, I can’t let a relationship cloud my judgement in the league” Hitch replied, though Sunny saw that it was a clear attempt to avoid the subject.
“If you keep this all inside you, it will hurt you Hitch and I know that if Zipp finds out on her own, she’ll just be as hurt” Sunny explains.
“But.... does she even like me, like I do with her?” Hitch asked, looking at Sunny with what she thought were tears in his eyes.
Sunny placed a hand on Hitch’s shoulder, “You won’t know until you ask her, and I promise I’ll have your back, no matter what” Sunny softly spoke and hugged her best friend.
“Thanks Sunny” Hitch replied and felt a little better, “Anyway, I better get ready, see you at the bus?” he asked to which Sunny nods.
However, Queen Haven arrived in panting breath, “Oh my dears, have you two seen Zipp?” she asked.
Sunny and Hitch looked at each other and shook their heads, Queen Haven rolled her eyes and kept on running after her daughter, which caused a few laughs with Sunny and Hitch.
(On the bus – Canterlot High Wondercolts)
The bus ride to the SFA Centre was full of excitement, a party and looking forward to the upcoming league. The Wondercolts were all eager to get their boogie on, especially Pinkie Pie, she even had emergency party supplies if the party was boring.
“You ready for a epic night, Wondercolts?!” Rainbow Dash called out to her teammates, and she got an epic response; showing their eagerness.
“I can’t wait to meet the players from Maretime High, I heard they’re quite the team” Sunset stated.
Fluttershy was as always timid and nervous, “I just hope, they’re nice; really don’t want to deal with another team like the Shadowbolts” she stated timidly.
“OH Darling! The Shadowbolts have gotten better since the Friendship Games and of course our fabulous music video” Rarity stated, trying to defend the Shadowbolts.
“Come on Rarity, when it comes to sports, the Crystal Prep Shadowbolts will always be the same” Applejack spoke bluntly.
“Hey, don't be so negative Applejack” a male voice spoke up, it was Flash Sentry, “I get we always will have our rivalry with the Shadowbolts, but even I have to agree with Rarity and that music video was awesome!” he states with his charismatic smile.
“Glad to know you're full of optimism Flash” Twilight spoke and adjusted her glasses again, “I’m 50/50 on the Shadowbolts, even during our final match, it got very intense, especially near the end” she adds.
“Yeah, but that's the past, we should look forward to tonight and of course the opportunity to help raise funds for the disabled students” Sunset stated.
Pinkie Pie meanwhile was too busy in preparing for tonight, even coming up with contingency plans if security was going to be present.
(SFA Centre – Party Event)
The party was in full swing, even before the players from Canterlot High, Crystal Prep and Maretime High arrived, they immediately got into a party mood and enjoyed the atmosphere.
“Wow, this party is absolutely lit!” Sunny beamed.
“Ain’t that the truth, this is going on the gram! Can't disappoint the Pippsqueaks!” Pipp stated as she began taking pictures of the party.
Sunny, Hitch and Zipp began to mingle with the other players from the rival schools, while Misty, Izzy and Pipp headed to the snacks table and tried some of the impressive spreads and drinks.
Soon, Sunny meets with Sunset Shimmer, “Oh hello, you’re from CHS?” Sunny asked.
“That I am, I’m Sunset Shimmer, Striker for the Wondercolts, you?” Sunset stated with a friendly smile.
“Sunny Starscout, Centre Attack Midfielder for the Maretime High Pegistars, very nice to meet you” Sunny replied and quite happy to friendly with a rival school.
“I like your dress” Sunset stated, trying to keep the conversation alive.
“Oh! my friend Pipp, helped design it. She has a knack for ‘fabulous’ works” Sunny replies with a giggle.
“I can relate, my friend Rarity is quite the same, she made all our dresses for tonight” Sunset explained and showed off the design of her dress.
“Well, I can say she’s quite the designer, I wonder if those two will get along” Sunny hoped, though Sunset pointed to the snacks table and saw Pipp and Rarity getting along well, talking about the world of fashion and social media influencing.
The night goes on well and despite the Crystal Prep Shadowbolts being sour sports at first, but eventually joined the festivities and began to mingle well with their rivals despite the passive aggressive attitudes from the captains Rainbow Dash and Indigio Zap.
However, the three teams noticed that only they were at the party and the three other teams were yet to arrive, soon the head of the SFA, takes the microphone, “Attention everyone, sorry to disturb the fun, just thought I’d give you all a heads up, our three remaining teams have arrived, be sure to welcome them warmly.
The doors soon open and to every Wondercolt, Shadowbolt and Pegistar’s intense shock, it was the three teams, they never thought they’d face.
“Please welcome, Premier League State, Bundesliga Academy and Ligue 1 High!” the head of the SFA announced.
Leading the Premier League State team was a dark blue haired, blue skinned tall lad, it was the school’s most loved and humble player; Manchester City. Leading the Bundesliga Academy team was a black haired, yellow lad was also the school’s most humble and loved player, Borussia Dortmund. Lastly leading Ligue 1 High was Paris St-Germaine, she was a blue haired and white hair with red bangs. Their teammates join them and immediately mingled with their rivals.
“Well, if it isn’t, my best rival in the leagues! Man City!” Borussia welcomed with open arms. Manchester City and Borussia Dortmund hugged it out, while they were some of the fiercest rivals, they were in reality; close friends and even played together growing up.
“How you been, Dortmund?!” Manchester City asked, enjoying the company.
“Been good man, was another year of being the academy’s runner up” Borussia stated.
“But another year, winning the Player of the Year?” City asked to which the two boys laughed.
“How’s the team?” Stuttgart asked, joining the conversation.
“Same as always, hardworking, determined and looking forward to another league to play the game we know and love” Liverpool soon also joined the conversation and fist bumped Stuttgart, sadly however......
“Well, well, if it isn't the Bundesliga Academy drags!” a female voice, and it was one Manchester City knew very well, it was his bratty, overconfident twin sister, Manchester United.
“Oh man, drop an anvil on my head......” City begged, and the others all felt the same.
However, another female voice rose up, “Don’t know you have another award to attach your name too after doing nothing since freshman year?” it was Bundesliga’s equal to Manchester United; Bayern Munich.
“Oh man, put me on a boat and shoot a fire arrow at me......” Borussia stated in a groan to which City stated he’ll join him on the boat.
It was clear that neither PLS and BA players, really didn’t hold either United or Bayern to a high standard, United was very know to be quite the player growing up, but as soon she entered high school, she was always out classed by her more humble brother, City which lead to her always attaching her name to everything City did, claiming since they were twins, they were a packaged deal.
Bayern Munich wasn’t much better, ever since she enrolled at Bundesliga Academy, she was a great player, but the most obnoxious girl around, she would flaunt her achievements, it wasn’t until Leverkusen, before she became the team’s goalkeeper, outperformed and put Bayern in her place, much to everyone’s delight.
“Don’t you two have anything better to do?!” Laverkusen shouted and finally got the bratty girls to bugger off. Bayern and United scoffed and walked off. “So surprised we haven’t dropped them” she stated in a sigh.
“Ah, ignore them, but great job on beating Munich, Laver” City states which made Laverkusen blush and twirl her hair.
Dortmund, Liverpool and Stuttgart rolled their eyes, “Unknowingly smooth as always” Liverpool stated, it was clear City was a great player, but not so well in reading girl’s emotions or actions.
The night was going well, and it showed no signs of stopping yet.
EG X G5 – I Can Be Your Champion
(SFA Centre – Party Room)
The night continued to be full of positivity, The six teams were more and more mingling with each other and seemed good company, despite the fact they’ll be facing each other soon for the charity league.
Soon, the PLS players met up with the Main 6 from Maretime High, with Manchester City meeting with Zipp and Hitch. “Ah, the Stormblazer duo!” City waved as he met the iconic duo, Sunny, Izzy, Pipp and Misty giggled at the small reaction from Hitch and Zipp.
“That's us, and I take you’re Premier League State’s top player?” Zipp asked.
“Manchester City, nice to meet you all, I heard very good things, despite your rough start to the season, you lot came back with an epic performance to take the trophy” City introduced himself.
“That we did, all thanks to our great team captain” Hitch said, though completely missing the small blush from Zipp as she heard his words.
“I’m Sunny Starscout, nice to meet you Manchester City” Sunny beamed with happiness and extended her hand for a handshake.
“Just call me ‘City’, everyone here already does and since my annoying twin United is here, it's kind of better that way” City explained and shaked hands with Sunny
However, Pipp seemed to be more interested in City’s hairstyle, “Oh! That is quite the fetching hairstyle! Please can I take a photo for the Gram” Pipp pleaded with puppy eyes.
City laughed, “Go ahead” he tells Pipp which made her squeak in joy as Pipp took a photo of herself and City, “But I should tell you, this was inspired by the Nordic tribes from the old times, been getting more interested in them growing up, though United always rejected the ancestors for whatever reason” City explained.
“Wow, isn’t the Nordic tribes the Vikings?” Izzy asked.
Soon, some of City’s teammates arrived, most notably; PLS Goalkeeper, Chelsea, “That’s true, should’ve seen him at the PLS Halloween party last year, he absolutely rocked the Viking look” Chelsea explained while also having dreamy eyes, despite what she told herself, she had an absolute admiration for City as a player and person.
“Not just him by the way” a voice spoke up, it was Ligue 1’s Paris St-Germaine, “During last year’s season, both City and Dortmund had the same hairstyle, everyone who watched the league, kept arguing on ‘who wore it better’ and it's still going on to this day” She explained with a smirk.
“And annoyingly, still 50/50” Borussia Dortmund stated, joining the conversation.
Zipp could only chuckle, “Well, it’s gonna take, more than a good hairstyle to beat us” she claimed with a smile.
Everyone laughed, “Careful, you say that now, but if there’s one thing about us players, we have a two-sided personality; off the field, we’re quite the good company, but on the field, we turn into absolute dominate beings of Football, even petty arguments become nothing on the field” Liverpool explained, giving a good warning to the Main 6.
“True, but as some of our rivals found out this season, don’t underestimate Maretime High” Hitch chuckled and toasted a drink with Liverpool.
“Anyhow, I should see the other teams, it was quite nice meeting you Zipp” City stated to Zipp who just smiled, however for some reason; Hitch felt a very sharp twang to his heart, when City said his goodbye to Zipp.
(Meanwhile – with the Crystal Prep Shadowbolts)
Indigo Zap was minding her own business, enjoying her drink while her teammates were else were, Lemon Zest was pigging out on the snacks table with Jet Set trying to pull her away in a laughing fit, Sugarcoat was talking with Wondercolts’ striker Flash Sentry and despite Sugarcoat being very known to be blunt, she seemed to be ‘letting her hair down’ albeit just for tonight.
However, Indigo soon meets with the BA’s triplets; Wolfsburg, Augsburg and Frieburg, “Enjoying the night?” Wolfsburg asked.
“Just for now, but come first game, Crystal Prep is gonna dominate this league!” Indigio claimed, but got laughs from the triplets, “What’s so funny?” she asked, quite pointedly.
“Let’s just say, your school is known for being very competitive, but I don’t think you guys faced teams like ours here” Augsburg explained.
“And there is an old saying, ‘Don’t underestimate your opponents’, trust us, every player in BA knows that one very well” Frieburg stated.
“What are you implying?” Indigio asked, again very pointedly and clenching her fist.
“During one season, we thought we’d dominate the season and that was we all thought until the last match against PLS, where we got absolutely destroyed, by PLS” Wolfsburg explain and rubbed the back of his neck, it was quite embarrassing memory, however Indigio took no mind to it.
“Well, that happened to you, I can promise you at the end of this league, Crystal Prep will hold the trophy” Indigo claimed, rather arrogantly.
This made the triplets reconsider their stance on Crystal Prep, “Don’t say we warned ya, also remember why we’re in this league to begin with” Augsburg stated, before leaving with her brothers.
(Later in the night)
As the night went on, the SFA soon brought a panel and screen to the party.
“Listen up everyone, we just talked to the principals, and they decided it be a fun idea to see what your player rating is before the matches” one of the SFA personnel stated and gaining everyone’s attention. Mainly, Maretime High, Canterlot High and Crystal Prep showed the most interest. “Now how this works is that you place your hand on the panel, and it scans your muscle memory and fatigue, it will make the calculations and give your player rating, these ratings will also improve or degrade as you play in the league” he explains in detail on the process.
The Shadowbolts went first and a lot of them were disappointed with their best being only 86 and their lowest was 69, many of the Shadowbolts felt they got stitched up. However, it was soon Canterlot High’s turn and they faired much better than Crystal Prep, with Rainbow Dash scoring an 88 and their lowest was Fluttershy with a 62, rating wise; the Wondercolts showed better chemistry and ratings.
Soon it was Maretime High’s turn and Zipp goes first, and she placed her hand on the panel and waited for the scan, after a few seconds, the screen showed her rating, she got a 90, the highest rating among the three teams.
“Wow! Great job Zipp!” Pipp exclaimed in joy and the rest took their turns; Hitch got an 89, the same as Sunny, however Pipp and Izzy got 79 much to their disappointment, Misty managed to get a surprising 83 due to her talents at the goalkeeper position. As the rest of the Pegistars took their turns; some were happy with the results and some weren’t, however the Pegistar’s most negative player Posey Bloom took her turn, and she got the absolute worst rating, a mere 51 which made her go off on a Karen rant.
However, Sunny noticed none of the PLS, BA and L1H players took a turn, “Hey! What about you guys? Come on! Have a go!” Sunny states with a smile.
The PLS, BA and L1H players all chuckled, showing that they didn't want to participate.
“What's the matter? Afraid of being rated lower than the Wondercolts?” Rainbow asked with a smug grin.
However the PLS players all smirked, “Alright, if that's what you want, get them City” Liverpool states.
“Yeah, you too Dortmund!” Leverkusen adds with a smile.
The two players shrugged and walked to the panel and had their hands scanned, as the device did their calculations, everyone eagerly waited for the results, soon the screen showed the results and everyone from Maretime High, Canterlot High and Crystal Prep had their jaws dropped to the floor.
The screen showed that Borussia Dortmund had an excellent 92 rating, but then it was Manchester City’s turn, and he scored the absolute highest rating possible, an eyewatering 97 rating which made everyone from PLS to cheer in joy.
“YES! PAY UP BUNDESLIGA!!!” Liverpool shouts in smugness. The BA players all reached in their pockets, and each pulled $10 and gave it to Liverpool who was gleefully chuckling.
“You’re really a purebred gambler Liverpool!” Leverkusen stated in a laugh as she gave the money to Liverpool, who began counting up the money he just won.
The PLS, BA and LH1 players all laughed, while the others took the information in, with City scoring that highly, they didn't want to see how the others would be rated.
Soon after the ratings were done, the SFA soon got everyone’s attention, “Alright everyone, we all hope you’ve had a great night, but its time to show you all the match fixtures for the league. Starting with the Wondercolts going against PLS in the first match, followed by Pegistars who will face Bundesliga Academy and lastly the Shadowbolts against Ligue 1 High. All teams will have 10 matches and we’ll be using the standard points system; 3 for a match win, 1 for draws and 0 for defeats” the SFA speaker explained in detail.
“We’re looking forward to the first match and we hear they’ll be quite the crowd attending the matches, so take the time to prepare and be ready to have a good time! Remember, this league is for a good cause, so please do remember that” the SFA head states and every player nodded in agreement.
Soon the party was over, and everyone headed back to their respective schools to train and prepare for the upcoming matches, however on the ride back home, some thoughts were dominating the minds, such as Hitch feeling a bit of jealousy when Zipp was talking to City. Rainbow Dash for the first time had less confidence seeing the ratings and lastly Indigio Zap who had a negative thought about her behaviour towards the PLS, BA and L1H players. But they all shook their thoughts out and focused on preparing for the first match against the most elite teams around.

EG X G5 – I Can Be Your Champion
(Premier League State – Home Stadium)
The day had come, the first match of the Charity League and the first of the three matches was at PLS’s home stadium, the whole stadium was almost the size of a world class juggernaut stadium and the Canterlot High Wondercolts were already making their preparations. Upon arrival the Wondercolts took no waste and got down to training, preparing all their techniques, that said not everyone was doing...... that.
“Pinkie Pie! What are you doing?” Rainbow Dash asked as Pinkie Pie was messing around with their goal.
“Come on Dashie, we gotta have some fun when you slam those goals, and my confetti cannons are perfect for the job!” Pinkie Pie explained as she rigged the confetti cannons to blow when a goal made them was made.
Rainbow Dash groaned in annoyance, but Sunset was there to calm the situation down, “It's all good Rainbow Dash, you know how Pinkie is, and you know she’ll put more effort in the training once she’s done” Sunset explained.
“I know, but we have to bring our best against PLS! So come on everyone! Let's get into it!” Rainbow Dash boasted as the team doubled their training efforts.
(Two hours Later – Match Time)
The crowds began to fill the stadium and the buildup was immense, the Wondercolts’ changing room was all mental preparations, the players began to straighten up their blue and gold jerseys and boots, Rainbow Dash gave one of her notable sports speeches as the team cheered and readied up and awaited in the hallway where the players walk from.
Soon they saw their rivals, the Premier League State players in their purple and green jerseys and all were stoic and mentally hardened as they awaited the signal to head to the field, but then someone had to ruin the silence.
“Hem a der, Charles a Dickens, double decker buses!” was heard by the players and everyone in the PLS team, all responded in their united frustrated tone.
“SHUT UP TOTTENHAM!” The players shouted as Tottenham’s shoulders slumped, it was clear that Tottenham was the PLS punching bag.
“Hey! That wasn’t very nice!” Fluttershy squeaked out.
“We put up with that every day at PLS, so you tell us how we should respond” West Ham pointedly states, which none of the Wondercolts gave a response.
However, there was no time for that, the marshals gave the word, and the players began to walk out to the field. The PLS anthem was played as the players entered a line to drink the atmosphere in, the stadium was packed, but there was barely any blue and goal in the crowd, just purple and green and signs showing immense love and support to the PLS players.
“And here we are, the first match of the anticipated charity league, it's the Canterlot Wondercolts against the PLS Premiers! And it’s a match so many are awaiting to see, the Wondercolts being the loved underdogs here going up against what is considered the elite of the elite”
The commentators began to announce the game as the crowd cheered in joy, waiting for the match to begin.
“And here we have the line up for the Wondercolts, its Sandalwood in the keeper position, followed by the center backs of Twilight, Pinkie and Fluttershy. Napalm and Burns on the left and right mid to support their centers Rarity and Applejack. Rainbow Dash assuming the captain spot in the center attacking mid and up the front; the two strikers of Sunset Shimmer and Flash Sentry, a solid 3-4-1-2 lineup”
“That may be well and true, but the home side is not to be trifled against, it's a solid 5-3-3 for the Premiers, Chelsea in the keeper position, augmented with Newcastle, Crystal, Arsenal and Tottenham as the center backs. West Ham, United and Everton in the center positions, lastly the wings of Aston Villa and Liverpool, led by the indominable leader and striker of Manchester City. It’s all to play for the first impressions here at PLS stadium.
Soon as the PLS anthem ended, the players began to shake each other's hands and headed to their respected positions. The referee places the ball down for the Wondercolts to kick of the match, the Wondercolts soon saw what Liverpool mentioned at the party, each of their faces devoid of emotion as they prepared to make their move. The referee moved back a few steps and put the whistle to their mouth and blew; the match had begun.
Sunset Shimmer passes the ball to Rainbow Dash, and she went on a solo charge; she avoids City and Liverpool as the two players closed in, but as soon she encounters West Ham, she loses the ball. West Ham took no chance and passed to United, the red girl maneuvered around the Wondercolts, found an opening to Aston Villa, she makes the pass stick and Aston Villa charged down the field in dominate fashion. The Wondercolt center players desperately tried to hold the line, but the PLS winger made a pass to Manchester City and took off at lightning speed. Fluttershy saw the charging blue juggernaut and dove out of the way in fear, the Wondercolts were speechless as Fluttershy made such a cowardly move. City soon bore down towards the goal, but Sandalwood was waiting, City passes the ball to Liverpool to fool the Wondercolts, and it gave them the opening they wanted. Liverpool soon volleys the ball upwards to City and in a legendary move, Manchester City jumps and goes for the bicycle kick and slams the ball past Sandalwood, into the goal.
The crowd went wild, less than 10 minutes into the first half and PLS scored the first goal and in a dominating fashion.
“Absolutely brilliant from City!!!”
The commentators announced to the crowd, as Manchester City did a victory pose to the crowd before getting surrounded by his teammates in absolute joy. The Wondercolts were staggered, both at City’s goal and Fluttershy’s cowardness.
“What was that Fluttershy!? You let him right through!” Applejack stated in concern.
“I couldn’t stop him; he was a massive beast charging at me!” Fluttershy defended her actions.
“Come on guys! It’s less than 10 minutes and we’re already a goal down!” Rainbow Dash complained.
“HEY! Enough! Stop complaining, we still got a game to play!” Flash called out and tried to get the team back to focus on the here and now. The Wondercolts shook off their concerns and headed to their positions for the next kickoff.
However, Rainbow Dash tries the same tactic as before and loses possession of the ball faster than before, however the Wondercolts harden their defensive line and intercepts the ball before another goal by PLS could be made, Applejack and Rarity passed to each other to mess with the PLS lines, Applejack sees an opening to Rainbow Dash and passes the ball to her, in her excitement; Rainbow Dash charged on and goes for goal and slams it in.
“And a goal!!! But it will not count! Offside is called by the referee!”
It was an absolute punch to the gut for the Wondercolts, they claim it was a clean goal, but then the VAR soon shows Rainbow Dash was a foot ahead of the onside line and the ruling was final. Rainbow Dash could only groan in annoyance at the result. The entire first half would go to be absolute domination from PLS, the Wondercolts grew more and more desperate to stop them, making countless mistakes. PLS’s Liverpool and Aston Villa would score a goal each, bringing the score to 3 goals before the first half came to an end.
In the changing room, the Wondercolts were beaten and demoralized by the result.
“What are we doing wrong?” Rarity asked, cleaning her face with a towel.
“I’ll tell you Rarity, we’re getting smashed harder than a bunch of apples turned into apple sauce” Applejack responded in her apple loving fashion.
Flash and Sunset saw the turmoil in the Wondercolts and tried to make sense of the situation. “Hey come on! It’s only the first half” Sunset tried to cheer the team up.
“Yeah, and look we’re playing one the best teams around, we just need to change up our strategy for the second half” Flash adds, trying to inspire the team.
“Hey! I’m the team captain, Sentry!” Rainbow Dash barked.
“Yeah; we know, and your strategy is always trying to solo charge everything, we’re meant to be a team!” Applejack argued, “At least Flash is trying to help us!” she adds, throwing a mental stick to Rainbow Dash’s head.
“Look, let's not fight about this okay, but Flash is right” Sunset tried to calm the situation down, “What can we do in the second half Flash?” she asked her striker partner.
“Easy; Twilight, what have you seen which can build an advantage over the Premiers?” Flash turned to Twilight.
Twilight beamed in a smile, “For now, we see its just raw power from them so far, but they do have a lot of openings, if City or the wingers get past our midfield, we have out center backs pull back towards the goal, PLS may be good on stats, but we see only solo efforts from them so far” Twilight explained her strategy.
“But we do need to have a counterstrategy in place, if PLS sees through the plan” Flash adds, knowing that PLS didn't become an elite team with just one strategy.
However, Rainbow Dash took over, “Its easy, if the strategy doesn't work, we revert to our starting one and I'll take us to victory” Rainbow boasted, but the Wondercolts had concerns, but there was no time to think about that, the coaches call the Wondercolts to return to the field.
The players soon return to the field and went into position and mentally prepared for the second half, the Wondercolts hope to implement Twilight’s new strategy and as the second match began, the new strategy seemed to show much promise, but it gave no goals to the Wondercolts, even the strategy soon developed a crack and PLS’s United took a chance and slams a goal in.
The crowd cheers as PLS showed no signs of being stopped, Rainbow Dash tells the team to revert to the old strategy and it would be the Wondercolts complete downfall, Manchester City would score two more goals and bringing home the hat trick, the game soon ends a soul crushing defeat for the Wondercolts, with a 6-0 clean sheet victory for Premier League State.
The Wondercolts head back to the changing room in absolute pieces, morale was at an all-time low, the Wondercolts never felt such a defeat like this, and the crowd showed no remorse to them, the crowd cheered for PLS and even the Wondercolts could hear the cheers from the PLS chanting Manchester City’s name in cataphoric joy, surely the other teams could mount a better chance.
(Bundesliga Academy Stadium – Two Hours Later)
Word of Canterlot High’s defeat had reached the Maretime High Pegistars, surely it couldn’t be possible, but none of them had time to think of that as they prepared to challenge Bundesliga Academy.
In the changing room, the Pegistars adorned their orange and blue jeseys, but as the team prepared for the upcoming match, Pipp soon gets a message.
“Oh look at that, just saw a post from Liverpool, looks like they’re really enjoying that win!” Pipp stated as she showed her phone to her friends.
“Though Manchester City looks a little uncomfortable being raised on their shoulders” Misty mentions, looking closely at the photo of the PLS team.
“He did score the hat trick, but I understand how he feels, to be the absolute best and trying to be as humble as he can” Sunny states, giving her opinion.
“Not like his sister United, that’s for sure” Hitch chuckled.
“Well let’s hope, none of us turn out like her” Zipp states, as she straightened her jersey, but having issues with putting the captain band on her arm, as she trying to also do up her boots at the same time.
“Here, let me” Hitch said as he walked over and fixed up the captain’s band on Zipp’s left arm, Zipp was quiet as she watches Hitch delicately set the band up properly.
However, Pipp had to open her mouth, “Wow, Zipp is just as quiet as she was talking to City” she giggled.
Hitch felt a pinch to his heart as he heard Pipp’s words and once he finished the band, he quietly did up his boots and straightened his jersey. Zipp didn’t think anything of Pipp’s words and just looked at Hitch as he seemed to be holding something in, but she couldn’t think more about it as the coach tells the Pegistars it was time, the team began to walk out into the hallway, next to the Bundesliga Academy players to wait for the moment.
The Bundesliga Academy anthem begins to play to excite the crowd as they wait for the players to walk onto the field. The coaches and referees gave the players the nod and they all began to walk out onto the field; however, the crowd soon began to sing the chant for Borussia Dortmund, BA’s captain and striker. Despite the crowd seemingly only focused on Bundesliga Academy, it didn’t damp the spirits of the Pegistars. The players began to line up on the field, however to the Pegistars surprise, they saw the PLS Players in the crowd and even a few of them were wearing orange to show support for them, the Pegistars felt an ounce of support, knowing that PLS showed them some support.
“The second match of the league is here; we have seen the Wondercolts felt the full fury of Premier League State, but could we see a turnaround as Maretime High challenge Bundesliga Academy?!”
“Too right you are, here we have the starting lineup for Maretime High Pegistars, a 4-2-1-3 formation with Misty Brightdawn in the keeper position, augmented with the row of center backs of Izzy Moonbrow and Jazz Hooves in the mid and on the left its Rocky Riff and the right Posey Bloom, following them is the center mid defenders of Zoom Zypherwing and Thunder Flap. Taking up the attacking mid is Sunny Starscout and lasty the front row, the winged sisters of Pipp Petels and the team’s captain Zipp Storm and lastly the striker of Hitch Trailblazer”
“It's quite the line up, this team who went from a rough start to regional champions in an epic season for the Pegistars, but will it be enough to compete against Bundesliga Academy? Their 4-2-3-1 formation has the talented Leverkusen in goal, she had made quite the transition from being a former striker to keeper, the siblings of Augsburg and Frieburg on the right back line and Hoffenhiem and Union Berlin on the left, the center mid defense of the older triplet Wolfsburg and Stuttgart with RB Leipzeg and Ein Frankfurt on the outer mid positions, Bayern Munich in the center attacking and the captain; the hometown star, Borussia Dortmund taking up the captain spot in the striker position”
The crowd grew more and more excited as the chant for Borussia Dortmund came to an end as the players took positions for kick off, both the Pegistars and Bundesliga Academy drew breaths as they waited for the referee to start the match, Bayern Munich took position to start the match, the referee blows the whistle, and the match began.
Bayern passes the ball to Borussia who only has the ball for a few moments before passing to Stuttgart who signaled the team to move forward, the Pegistars knew what Bundesliga Academy were doing, the center backs moved to defend the keeper, but the forward players moved to intercept, Hitch charges and takes the ball from Bayern, he maneuvers around the Bundesliga players, he takes a chance to pass to Pipp, who manages to get a good run for the goal, she decides to take a chance and shoots for goal, however Leverkusen deflects the ball away to Hoffenhiem who moves up the field, and gets the ball to the forwards.
The ball gets back to Borussia Dortmund, and he charges forward, none of the Pegistars rear players could mount a challenge against the Bundesliga striker, as he charged at the goal, Misty was nervous as Borussia kicks the ball to goal, Misty closes her eyes and dives and to her surprised, she deflects the ball.
“AND MISTY BLOCKS THE GOAL!!!”
The crowd cheers for Misty, not many players who played in keeper position, had ever deflected a shot from Borussia Dortmund. “Great block Misty!” Borussia said, despite being their competition, he just gave Misty a smile.
But the ball went out of play, showing it would be a Bundesliga corner kick, Stuttgart runs to prepare for the kick, the crowd awaits in anticipation, Stuttgart goes for the kick, the ball flies towards the players, despite holding the line well, Borussia jumps for the kick, and he slams the goal in.
“AND IT’S DORTMUND!!! WHAT A GOAL!!!”
The crowd cheers in joy, and a tune is played as Borussia runs to the crowd and cheered, with his teammates following in tow. However, the Bundesliga players except Bayern, walked to Misty.
“Hey, you blocked the first one, keep at it, Misty!” Stuttgart said in a supportive tone and Misty nodded in agreement.
“Great sportsmanship by Bundesliga Academy, they may be winning the match, but they will always show love and respect to their rivals”
The players all ran back to position for the next kick-off, as Zipp ran back, the PLS players in Maretime High orange, shouted to her.
“It’s only one goal, keep strong guys!” Liverpool cheered.
“You got this Zipp!” Manchester City cheered also as Zipp nodded and waved, thankful for their support.
However, Hitch saw the interaction and again his heart stung, but he tried to give no mind as he took position. Sunny moved up to start the kick-off, the referee blows the whistle and Sunny kicks the ball to Pipp. The left winger charged the field; however, Leipzig was charging at her to intercept, Pipp passes the ball to Hitch who charged forward. Zipp calls Hitch to pass, but for some reason, he ignores her calls. Hitch manages to maneuver around the Bundesliga players and in a solo effort, Hitch dummies a kick to the right and manages to slam a goal into the left.
“AND A GOAL!!! IT’S BACK TO LEVEL, NO SIGN OF SLOWING DOWN!!!”
Hitch cheers as he slams a goal in, the crowd cheered his name in cataphoric joy, the Maretime High Pegistars showed that it's possible to challenge the elites, while a few players cheered Hitch for his goal, Zipp and Sunny felt off, normally Zipp and Hitch had the best chemistry and always communicated well on the field, but Zipp knew Hitch ignored her, but had no idea why he would, Zipp managed to see the bright side as they were level with Bundesliga Academy.
The rest of the first half managed to be a stalemate, with both teams deflecting shots and interceptions of the ball in rapid succession, the match was intense, and the crowd was loving it. The first half ended with 1-1, and the teams headed back to the changing rooms to prepare for the second half.
In the changing room, Sunny and Zipp worked with the rest to think on strategies, however Pipp noticed Hitch was outside drinking a water bottle.
“What's going on with me?!” Hitch asked himself, he hoped no-one noticed, but Pipp arrived to see him.
“Is everything alright?” Pipp asked in concern.
Hitch shook his head, “It’s nothing” he replies but Pipp wasn’t having it.
“Yes, there is, you ignored Zipp during your run, you never do that, so something is wrong!” Pipp explained, knowing that this wasn’t normal from him.
“It’s fine Pipp, let's get ready for the second half” Hitch stated as he went back to the changing room, Pipp started to remember that something similar happened during the Preseason Party, was it because Manchester City? Was Hitch jealous of Manchester City? She wondered but had to disregard the thoughts as the marshals called the Pegistars back to the field.
The players returned to the field and got into position, Bayern was again starting the kick-off, the whistle is blown, and the ball is kicked, and the game is back on. The second half was mostly a stalemate like the first half, however Zipp managed to get the ball. However, the Bundesliga players stole the ball away and Bayern knocked her to the ground, the referee blew the whistle and called a foul.
As the players prepared, Izzy was chosen to kick the ball, the whistle is blown and Izzy kicks the ball to Sunny, who manages to evade the Bundesliga players, but as she ran for goal, she passes to Hitch, and he goes for another goal, and it goes in.
“And another goal!!! It’s two for him today, now the Pegistars are out in front!”
Hitch and the players cheered as they now taken the lead of the match, they just had to maintain the momentum for the remainder of the match. The players prepared for the kick-off and Bundesliga Academy showed their full force, Bayern passed it Borussia and the striker player charged in his dominant fashion, he blew past everyone in his way and while Misty was waiting to deflect the ball, Borussia kept charging at her, but when Misty runs up to dive for the ball, Borussia volleys the ball and it goes in goal.
“And it’s a second for Borussia Dortmund!!! They are level again!!!”
The crowd cheers and the Borussia’s tune is played as the Bundesliga players cheered as the match was now level again, the Pegistars were shocked at how Borussia Dortmund showed dominance. However, Zipp tries to get everyone to focus. “Come on guys! We gotten the lead before!” she states.
Soon the match arrived at the final moments and the second half had an extra two minutes, the rules of the charity league had removed the penalty shootout to save time, so both teams knew how important winning the first set of matches would be, it was a Bundesliga corner kick, with Stuttgart once again performing the kick.
As the whistle blew, Bayern runs to Stuttgart which made Zipp and Hitch run after her, but it was a trick, Stuttgart volleys the ball, Zipp tries to run back, but she soon runs into Hitch. As the two fell to the ground, Borussia Dortmund jumps and like his rival/friend Manchester City, he performs the bicycle kick and slams the final goal of the match.
The crowd goes wild, Borussia’s tune was played on repeat as the Bundesliga players celebrate their win, the Pegistars were shocked, they had a chance to win the match, however they look at Zipp and Hitch who were still dazzled by their collision with each other, however Hitch gets up and just sighs, Zipp also gets up and feels disappointed. As the Pegistars walked off the field, they were soon met by Manchester City and PLS who were supportive and encouraged the Pegistars not to give up, Zipp thanked the PLS players, however Hitch felt something burning inside him.
In the changing room, the Pegistars had to feel the weight of their defeat, however no one was upset as Posey Bloom was, who went on a rant on their lost, despite ignoring everyone who stated, she didn’t do much in the match, but then for one of them, it caused him to snap.
“WHY ARE YOU SO MISERABLE, EVEN BY YOUR OWN STANDARDS?!” Hitch shouted in anger, everyone looked at Hitch, who also was surprised at his outburst.
“Hitch! Are you okay?” Sunny asked, worried about her childhood best friend.
“I’m.... I’m okay... I don’t know where that came from” Hitch explained, he never felt that angry before and had no idea what made him snap, Posey Bloom even shrunk and even when Hitch apologized to her for his outburst, she felt unnerved and worried about angering him again, though some members of the team believed it was a solid way to shut Posey up as she always had to find a way to complain.
The first set of matches were not going well for any of the standard teams, they even heard Ligue 1 High had also defeated the Shadowbolts in a 3-1 in favour for Ligue 1 High, as their game had to be moved up due to a scheduling issue. But surely, things had to turn around at some point in the league, as there were still 9 more matches for each team to face.

The Charity League seemed to be favoring the elite teams greatly, Premier League State seemed to be dominating the leaderboard, with Premier League State demolishing the Wondercolts with a 6-0 in the first match, and the Shadowbolts with another 6-0 in the first set of matche fixtures, Premier League showed no signs of being stopped, but it was now Maretime High’s turn to face the most elite team in the Charity League. Despite a solid victory against Canterlot High, all players knew it would be an extremely tough challenge, especially since PLS holds the record for most league victories in the state.
(Maretime High - Football Training Ground)
The Pegistars hit the practice field at their school, running many drills on dribbling, scoring, keeping and many other techniques, Zipp and Hitch would spend a lot of time coming up with strategies to face them; Zipp and Hitch would take as much as they learned from their match with Bundesliga Academy, which all of them knew they mounted a hard challenge against them, this was because while PLS and BA had the most intense rivalry around, they did seem to be the most evenly match on terms of player skill and tactics, even many elite players would say Manchester City and Borussia Dortmund are the most leveled strikers. Zipp had a solid idea on how the Pegistars would play in the upcoming match.
“Okay team! Gather round!” Zipp calls her teammates from the pitch. The players soon gather around the whiteboard where she outlines her strategy, “We’ve seen how good Manchester City is as a striker, especially with Liverpool and Aston Villa supporting his wings, so our rear line will need to cover the wings, mostly Rocky and Posey” she explains.
Rocky nods as he looks to his defending partner Jazz, who as always happens to blush when he looks at her, Posey meanwhile has (as she always does) some objections. “How are me and Rocky supposed to hold them? We saw their stats, they may not be at the same number as City, but they’re still extremely talented and wouldn’t they have a counter for this?” she objects.
Hitch soon spoke up, “That’s what we’re planning for, if you and Rocky keep Liverpool and Aston Villa occupied when they have the ball, they’ll have no choice but to pass backwards which will prevent City from moving forward as he’ll need to be onside to go for goal, allowing Sunny, Thunder and Zoom to be set to intercept the ball and send it to the frontline” he explains, though Sunny and Pipp could hear some harshness when he mentioned City.
However, the players nod to each other, having faith in the plan and ready to mount a challenge against the most elite team of the three. They knew they would be the last match of the fixture at their local town football ground which had been upgraded since they entered the Charity League. Meanwhile, the other matches had the Wondercolts up against their intense rivals the Shadowbolts, while Ligue 1 will challenge Bundesliga Academy again but this time at their home stadium.
However, to everyone’s surprise, Manchester City along with his twin sister United and his wingers Liverpool and Aston Villa arrived. “Wow, quite the quaint field” United mocked, while the others facepalmed in disappointment.
“Tactful as always United” Aston Villa groaned.
Hitch was the most shocked to see their rivals at their homefield, “What? What are guys doing here?” he asked.
“Ease up Hitchy boy, we thought we’d come by and see how lot are doing” Liverpool joked with a smile, Aston Villa rolled her eyes, while Manchester City seem to be blanked faced.
“Well, if you lot must know, we’re planning our strategy for you tonight” Pipp states with a smile.
City, Villa and Liverpool smiled and nodded in respect, sadly however.... “Oooooh, so scared” United mocked until Aston Villa smacked her head, “OW! City!” she whined.
“You brought this on yourself, just like the other 14 times you pulled this act” City gave his twin sister a glare which kept her quiet. “But you guys are looking sharp, looking forward to our match” he gives the Pegistars a smile before heading off.
Liverpool, Aston Villa and United followed him, however once they're gone; the Pegistars call it a day and headed off to prepare for tonight’s match, however Zipp noticed that Hitch was no longer around, especially since Sunny told her that he wanted to take her and Zipp to the town’s milkshake shop later while Pipp and Izzy were going to meet up with for a spa treatment for their muscles.
“Where’s Hitch?” Zipp asked Sunny.
“I don’t know, he was here a moment ago” Sunny replies, she turns to her teammates who all had no idea where he went. “I’ll send him a text, hopefully he’ll respond” she hoped as she texted Hitch’s phone.
Meanwhile, Hitch had already packed his kit and boots and waited for his Grandma Figgy to pick him up in the car park, however to his surprise; he encounters Manchester United.
“Waiting for a ride?” United asked.
“Um... yeah, my grandma is picking me up” Hitch replied nervously, he soon gets a text from his grandma which states she couldn’t pick him up due to a scheduling issue. “Great... guess I’m walking”
“I can drive you” United offered, Hitch was surprised, he knew United didn't have the best reputation at PLS, but surely, she wouldn’t be so low to drop him off in the middle of nowhere, especially how her team would react if she did.
“Um.... sure, if it’s not an issue” he states nervously.
“Hey, it’s no problem; we may be adversaries, but that doesn’t mean we can’t be friendly with each other” United states with what looked like a genuine smile, United takes Hitch to her car which was red supercar, Hitch decided not to ask how she got it as it be a long unnecessary conversation.
The two of them enter and United began to drive Hitch home, but as she drove along; she decides to make some small talk, “I noticed you were tense, did my bro City do something?” she asked.
Hitch quickly felt flustered, like he mentioned to Sunny before the Preseason Party, he felt something was between him and Zipp, especially at their regional finale where they won their league, but ever since they met the Premier League State players, he noticed that Manchester City would always be brought into a conversation when he was around Zipp. “Uh.... no! I mean....” He tried to find words, but just couldn’t and he groans in defeat. “I guess, I’ve been feeling jealous about City” Hitch admitted.
“Really? You’re jealous of my brother? Why? Are you jealous of him as a player?” United asked, but she had Hitch right where she wanted him, emotionally vulnerable.
“Well....” Hitch twiddled his thumbs; he really didn’t want to admit to anyone about his growing crush on Zipp or that he felt threatened by City as Zipp seemed to blush when anyone from the Pegistars mentioned the PLS Striker. “I guess you could say I am, same age as me and yet he’s just unstoppable, I heard he has the most goals scored when enrolled into PLS”.
United knew Hitch was keeping something, but she was methodical, “That he did, he’s just been getting better and better as we all keep playing, mum and dad were players too, City would always watch highlights and put in so many extra sessions on the pitch, he would miss so many family dinners, but he’s slowing down his extra sessions since this year, but I did hear something about your strike partner, Zipp” she mentioned.
“Zipp? What do you mean?” Hitch asked, gaining his full attention.
United was now in position with a move to devastate him, “Keep this yourself for now, but I’ve heard from the grapevine is that City and a few of the boys are considering encouraging Zipp to enroll at PLS” she stated and as she wanted, Hitch’s jaw hit the ground.
“Wait?! You guys want to enroll Zipp?!” Hitch asked in devastation. Surely that can’t be true, Zipp loved her friends at Maretime High, but then again Hitch did see how Zipp reacted to the mentioning of City.
“Like I said, keep it to yourself for now, but I guess the boys in the team do see potential in her I guess” United replied, while on her face she seemed serious and very genuine, but inside she was very pleased she planted the doubt into Hitch’s mind.
Soon after a good drive; United arrived at Hitch’s house, “Here we are” she spoke happily.
“Uh... yeah, thanks United, you know... I know everyone at PLS gives you a hard time for your behavior, but you’re a genuinely a good person” Hitch admitted.
“Awww, thanks Hitch, you’re so kind, and between you and me, I think Zipp would be a lucky girl with you, see you tomorrow at the match, bring your A game” United gave her goodbyes and drove off.
But as she drove home, “So easy, sorry to mess with you Hitch, but in football, you got to be good on the field and in the mind” she spoke to herself.
In Hitch’s room, he began to think about everything Manchester United told him, his feelings for Zipp, and how PLS could enroll Zipp in their school. But he had to prepare for tomorrow night, he would face his now assigned nemesis; Manchester City.
(The Next Night – Matchday - Maretime Bay Football Club Stadium)
Night had come for Matchday, the Maretime Bay local football club field was filled with fans, the atmosphere was ecstatic, the locals cheering on the Pegistars, hoping for a win for them.
In the changing rooms, the Pegistars put on their jerseys and boots, the team seemed to have high hopes, they have a good game strategy in place and lastly their ‘can do’ attitude and strong spirit, the Pegistars are aimed to knock PLS off their unbeaten pedestal. However, as Zipp got ready, she noticed Hitch seemly was ignoring her, he wasn’t answering any texts and completely blowing her off on their milkshake date. Zipp was quite the detective since she was a youngster, she knew that ever since their league win, things have been close yet also distant with her and Hitch, she narrowed the growing distancing since the Preseason party, their match with Bundesliga Academy where Hitch blatantly ignored her calls to pass the ball prior to the first goal for them and even Hitch’s explosive shout at Posey following their loss to Bundesliga Academy, but soon the coaches call to the players, they were about to be sent to the field.
In the hallway, the Pegistars and Premiers stood in line, waiting for the cue to enter the field, the tension was paramount. Hitch seemingly was breathing hard, Zipp was ahead of him and could hear him, she turns around to her strike partner, “You okay Hitch?” Zipp asked with a degree of worry in her voice.
“I’m fine Zipp” Hitch tried to slow his breathing and focus on the upcoming match, sure; going up against the likes of Premier League State would be a tall order, but with everything going on his mind and the growing gap between him and Zipp, it all seemed to be too much for Hitch.
However; Manchester United spoke up, “Just close your eyes and think calmly” she tells Hitch, a few of the PLS players look at her with surprise, was she offering advice and being nice to her rivals? Hitch followed United’s instructions, and he managed to calm himself down, Zipp turned back forward, feeling that her words couldn’t help him, however she looked to her left and saw her rival captain, Manchester City; devoid of all things that could affect his performance, Zipp was impressed of how City was handling everything.
Hitch saw that Zipp was again looking at City and began to think more about what United had told him, but he kept that to himself, but he turns to United with a sadden look. “Just remember what I told you Hitch, just focus and bring your A game” she spoke in comfort. However, Liverpool and Aston Villa looked to each other and felt United was up to something, even Sunny saw how the two wingers of PLS looked to each other.
But that would have to wait, the cheers from the stadium were in overdrive as the opening act which was being done by Maretime High alumni Ruby Jubilee as the coaches told the players to move onto the field.
“And what a night it is for football, here we are for the final match of the third fixture, it’s the Maretime High Pegistars against the Premier League State Premiers, here at hometown field here in Maretime Bay, lot of orange in surrounding the stadium full of energy, the home fans are looking to see if their local players can truly match against the elite and topple Premier League State’s unbeatable run.”
“Yeah, I am excited to see how this will turn out, Premier League State has been unstoppable in this league, the stadium has also got quite the audience, most would think the opening act is due to Ruby Jubilee, but the nobility of the cause of Charity League, has garnered quite the entertainment. And as one would forget, these are champions against champions, the Pegistars may just be a local league champions all those weeks ago, but their hard work and determination has been quite the payoff.”
“Too right you are, it was a solid victory for the Pegistars as they recently went against the Wondercolts, they must be feeling the pressure to win here tonight”
The players soon stood in line as the Maretime High school anthem was sung, once it came to an end, they players began to shake hands with each other and the referees. The players took to their places in formation, with the Pegistars be given the kickoff.
In an instant, Manchester City snatches the ball from the opposition and began roaring towards the goal, Misty was praying her defenders could hold the line, but the PLS Striker blasts through; Rocky, Izzy, Posey and Jazz tried their best to defend, but City was incredibly agile with ball and soon Misty was all that stood in his way, with a powerful kick, City slams the ball past Misty in to the goal.
“AND A GOAL!!! The gauntlet has been thrown, City on top of his game!!!”
The home crowd were shocked and disappointed as Manchester City scored in the first moments of the match, some already thought be another 6-0 domination act, the Pegistars looked to each other while the PLS players cheered City’s goal, they showed signs of worry but they held their resolved and got back to their positions for the next kick-off.
The second kick-off was set and the Pegistars now began to implement their strategy, the centre backs of Posey, Jazz, Rocky and Izzy managed to hold their ground and prevented many attempts made by City, Liverpool and Aston Villa, however in the second third of the first half, PLS was set for a corner kick with Aston Villa. The players wait for the referee whistle and soon Aston Villa kicks the ball towards her teammates, and City jumps up and heads the ball into the goal, Misty tries to reach and stop the ball, but her hands fell short and PLS was now two goals ahead.
“AND FOR THE SECOND TIME OF ASKING, CITY BRINGS THEM UP TO TWO!!!!”
“Absolute perfection from City, it was a perfect header, such class, such performance by the PLS Striker!”
The match was growing bleaker, PLS was now 2 goals ahead, and time was running low in the first half, but Zipp remained determined, she rallies her team as they got into position. Once the referee whistle blew, Zipp, Hitch and Pipp went on a charge, manoeuvring through the PLS lines, however Hitch was open for a pass and he lifted his arm, but Zipp passes it to Sunny behind them.
‘What...? I was....’ Hitch thought, he was clear in the opening, but it seemed that Zipp just ignored him.
Sunny managed to get close to the box and she volleys the ball to Zipp and she soon slams the goal. The stadium erupts with cheers and joy, glimmers of hope growing. The Pegistars were over the moon as they all cheered Zipp’s goal; minus one.
“What a goal by Zipp Storm, they are not out yet and their captain gives them all the hope they need”
“Too right there, it’s 2-1 now and there just behind by one, with the second half coming, they’re going to be out in full force”
Soon the whistle blew for half time and both teams head to the dressing rooms for preparations, however Hitch saw Zipp and City chatting with Liverpool and Aston Villa, his heart was sharp in pain, though United soon came by and placed a hand on his shoulder, giving him a reassuring nod.
After a few minutes of preparations, the teams soon returned to the field for the second half. However, it would be a rough start to the second half for the Pegistars, as Zipp, Hitch and Pipp charged up the field, Pipp was stray offside, bringing the game to a halt and Aston Villa got into position for the free kick. Aston Villa soon sent the ball high up towards Manchester City, however as the ball arcs perfectly to City, something in Hitch’s head just snapped, he charged towards City as the ball come to the PLS striker’s possession, Hitch then slid down for a sliding tackle and knocks City clean off the ground.
The crowd gasped as the referee whistle pierced the air, as it was a clear foul. The referee goes to Hitch and pulls out the yellow card much to the Pegistar crowd’s dismay, “That is yellow card, for number 5; Hitch Trailblazer”.
“Oh Trailblazer is lucky, yellow card, and that's a heavy warning for the young striker”
“I’m not convinced, that seemed a little more deliberate, but yellow or red card aside, this is going to cost the Pegistars dearly”
Manchester City soon got up, unfazed by the incident, however in a moment of sportsmanship, Zipp extends a hand to help City up, the PLS Striker nods in thanks to Zipp which made her face blushing slightly. But Hitch saw the interaction, his frustration and jealousy were bubbling majorly. His fists clenched in anger, something much more was growing and Hitch was on the verge of having a breakdown.
But soon Manchester United, steps up to Hitch and speaks softly, though her subtle manipulation was well hidden from the distressed Hitch. “Just focus on your game Hitch, don’t let.... your distractions cloud your game”, United’s tone was careful but hitting the spots in Hitch’s emotional state perfectly.
But Sunny was watching the interaction between Manchester United and Hitch, she saw that United was up to something and it had to involve Zipp and Manchester City, but before she could run over to say something, the referee called the players to get into position for the free kick in PLS’s favour.
The match continued on with an intense battle, but a goal made by Pipp would bring the match to even and remained in a heavy stalemate until the final minutes of the match. The crowd held their breath as it came to the 89th minute.
It was a goal kick for the Pegistars, Misty drew her breath as she got a lock on the players, she wished to send it to, with a strong kick; the ball flies to midfield. Hitch and Zipp, locked onto the ball, but the two of them make the worst mistake as they failed to communicate with each other and when Zipp jumps up to get the ball, Hitch and Zipp collide and crashed to the ground.
“Oh no! That is massive miscommunication, Storm and Trailblazer are down!!!”
The crowd was shocked at this mistake, but soon Manchester City seizes the opportunity and with the ball in his possession, the PLS star striker dribbles the ball past the disorganized Pegistars. In a flash, City slams the ball past Misty and secures the goal, his third one of the match, a solid hat trick performance, the PLS supporters cheered in joy as the Pegistars are heartbroken.
“AND A GOAL!!! CITY HAS MADE IT A HAT TRICK AND ITS NO WONDER; THE CROWD ARE CELEBRATING!!!!”
“That was a hard-fought battle, it may be a defeat for the Pegistars, but they put on a fantastic performance, but that last miscommunication has really cost them, PLS once again undefeated”
Despite the heartbreaking defeat, the Pegistars took the defeat on the chin and PLS remained respectful and praised the performance by the Pegistars and all shook hands with their rival players. Manchester City, Liverpool and Aston Villa praised Zipp for her performance as a striker and captain of the team, but looking onward to them was Hitch and his expression darkened, United’s words remained echoing in his head, he saw Zipp was blushing and Pipp was giggling at her sister’s blushed face. Feeling isolated and fed up, Hitch stormed off the field and managed to keep it together so he wouldn’t snap in front of the crowd.
Inside the changing room, Hitch quickly gathered his belongings into his bag, he was in such as rush, he didn’t bother changing out from his football kit. But just as he finished packing and about to leave, he heard familiar voices.
“That was so close, but you got to hand it to City, he was.... just so focused, calm, nothing seems to face him, I definitely would love to get behind that kind of composure” Zipp stated to her friends, with Pipp, Misty and Izzy giggling.
“Don’t forget, that handsome bod, bet we’d love to see that” Pipp adds and giggles.
But Hitch managed to hear it all, his suspicions seemingly confirmed. He grits his teeth and storms out of the changing room, even when Zipp and the others called out to him, he coldly ignores them. But Zipp was not having it, she wanted answers from him and goes after him.
Outside at the parking lot, Zipp catches up and grabs Hitch’s arm, filled with frustration, “Hitch! What’s been going on with you?! You’ve been quiet and distant with me since the start of the Charity League! You ignore my texts, blow me off a date YOU asked me to, and that tackle on City and barging into me in the match?! Just tell me what's going on with you!” she demanded.
Hitch soon dropped his bag and turns to Zipp, his voice filled with anger hurt, “You really don’t know?! Alright fine! Ever since we started, you've been obsessed with Manchester City, ALL you talk about is how amazing he is, you don’t even acknowledge me anymore! But I’m not surprised, since City wants to enroll with PLS and you seem to want to!!!” Hitch accused Zipp.
Zipp stares in shock, but quickly turns to anger and frustration, “What are you talking about?! I’m focused on our team! What have you hit your head with to get a stupid idea like that?!” Zipp shouted back.
Sunny, Izzy, Pipp and Misty watched in worry and tried to defuse the situation, but their words fell on deaf ears as the tension reached boiling point.
“Just admit it Zipp!!! You want City as your strike partner, clearly, I won’t ever be good enough for you for anything!!!” Hitch shouted.
“I don’t! What is wrong with you?!” Zipp shouted back, reaching her breaking point.
“I know how you look at him Zipp, I’m not an idiot! ADMIT IT! YOU WANT CITY AS YOUR PARTNER!!!” Hitch shouted at Zipp.
“HITCH, SHUT UP!!!!!” Zipp shouts back and raised her hand, much to her friends’ horror.
Zipp’s face had harden, filled with anger and hurt. Zipp soon laid a huge slap across Hitch’s face, the sheer sound of the slap seemed to echo across the parking lot. However, Zipp’s expression quickly changes to horror and regret, she looked to her hand which began to go red, then to Hitch’s face where her hand had slapped him.
“Hitch.... I...I'm so sorry, I didn’t....” Zipp tried to apologize, but Hitch steps back.
Hitch felt his face where Zipp had slapped him, trying his best to hold in his tears, he soon takes off his Pegistar jersey and threw it to Zipp’s feet, “Forget it, find someone else to be your strike partner.... I was.... I was so stupid to ever think I had crush on you....”.
Hitch grabbed his bag and left the heartbroken Zipp, frozen by her actions and Hitch’s words, tears had welled up in her eyes. Sunny, Pipp, Misty and Izzy tried to comfort Zipp, but the Pegistar captain was too devastated by what happened, she began to cry and runs back to the stadium in tears.
Sunny, Pipp, Misty and Izzy were shocked by the whole situation, however what they didn’t know that nearby, something was going to make a misunderstand into a full-fledged media nightmare.

Been a while, but here's the next chapter, also I'm making a decision to focus on the G5 and PLS characters more than the Wondercolts and Shadowbolts, they will still be mentioned in later chapters.
