Daniel Book 3- Life in Ponyville

The bell rang, and everypony went out the door. "See you later Boss!" Daniel called, and rushed over to the Everfree. Cherilee waved with a chuckle, he really was just a kid. Daniel dashed into the forest without a second thought, and met them at the same clearing as before, they were all there, gathered in a loose circle talking. Nightshade turned, and saw him.

"Kid, get over here, it's time for you to learn some basic tricks. after that, you'll have to start making your own tricks. You will also have to train on more advance tricks with us so that we can do a formation. Understood?" Nightshade said. Daniel nodded.

"Yes ma'am." He said. Nightshade laughed.

"What's with the ma'am thing? My name is Nightshade, and that's what you'll call me. And quit with the formal shit, I mean seriously." She said, her smile instantly disappearing back into her normal scowl. "Stratus, teach the kid barrel rolls." Stratus nodded, then gave Daniel a look that was somewhere inbetween 'I'll kill you' and 'listen'.

"Listen, cause I don't like repeating myself." Stratus said dangerously. Daniel nodded. "Alright, barrel rolls are fairly simple, all you have to do is tip your wings in a thirty degree angle, but you have to make sure you are going at a high enough speed." Stratus said, his voice making Daniel cringe slightly. Stratus took off and demonstrated. "Now do it." Stratus said, Daniel nodded, and took off, once in the air, he quickly tilted his wings, and spun once, and felt his stomach drop, with the feeling of the G- force, Daniel smiled slightly, instantly determined, he did several more barrel rolls, feeling himself losing speed, he strapped his wings to his sides, and dove towards the ground, pulling out his wings at the last possible second, and looped over, and landed on the ground without skidding.

"Whoa, HEH, he's a natural!" Blueball jumped up and down excitedly.

"I don't know if I'm that good, but that flight definetly felt good. What other tricks do I need to know?" Daniel said, feeling great.

"Already addicted to flight I see, that's a plus, lets see, you pretty much mastered barrel rolls, loops, and dives, you also need to learn to flip." Nightshade said, trying her best to sound encouraging, but it came out sounding rather, threatening. Daniel understood anyways. "Now for a flip, it's a little trickier, you have to actually flap backwards, and at the last second, close your wings." Nightshade said, Daniel nodded. She demonstrated. Daniel nodded, and flew into the air, quickly flapping backwards, he closed his wings, and flipped over. "Perfect, you really are a natural." Nightshade said, already giving up the change in tone.

"So, now what?" Daniel asked.

"Now Stary shows you the basic form, and you try to mimic it." Nightshade said, Daniel nodded.

"I'll go slowly hun, just to show show you how to do the basics, once you master it going slowly, we'll speed it up. That sound fine?" Starry Skies said, her voice even and level, and had a slight Canterlot accent. Daniel nodded. Starry Skies took off, mimicking a high speed launch, but took off at normal speeds, she flapped up to a rather high point, and closed her wings, she began falling, and at the last second pulled up, doing three flips, she then flew up slowing herself down slightly so Daniel could see, and did a barrel roll, then flew back up to the top, only to come landing with a very thunderous thud on the ground.

"Uh, okay." Daniel said.

"Simple enough right?" Starry said reassuringly.

"I suppose." Daniel said, then stepped forward. He launched himself at high speeds, and went to the peak of his launch, and shut his wings, and dived towards the ground, pulling up quickly at the last possible second, flipping three times, he launched forward, and did a barrel roll, quickly going back up to the highest point, he launched himself at the ground, and at the last second, flapped just lightly, and landed with a loud thud.

"You really do learn quick, you just did that at the speed we usually do it." Starry said, getting several nods of agreement from the others.

"You have mastered the basic form, but when we have to do the seperate tricks, you need to have something that only you can do, find that something, and and practice it." Nightshade said. "Now get out of here kid."

"Alright." Daniel waved and walked away, and felt something tickling his lower legs, around his ankles, he looked down, and saw that he was walking through a field of flowers, he shrugged, and went on to Ponyville.
